Ding Xian was angry at Zhou Siyue because of what Dong Zhengfei had said. Now he had even given away the chocolate she gave him—something meant to represent love. She went to confront him. Zhou Siyue said Xing Lufei had taken it herself, but Ding Xian didn’t believe him. All along, she had been working hard to be with him, yet not only did he stop her from going abroad, he even gave her love token to someone else. Zhou Siyue told her not to always think about him and to consider her own future. But to Ding Xian, it seemed like he was just trying to push her away, and she ran off heartbroken. Song Ziqi saw this and told Zhou Siyue to explain things clearly. But Zhou Siyue thought Ding Xian would only truly find herself if she left him.

Heartbroken, Ding Xian went to clear her mind and called Su Baicong. The two of them drove to an art exhibition. Knowing Ding Xian loved painting, Su Baicong encouraged her to stay true to herself and not just follow anyone blindly.

The next day, Ding Xian didn’t show up at the lab. Professor Ye wasn’t pleased, so Zhou Siyue had to say she wasn’t feeling well and asked for leave on her behalf. Ding Xian wandered alone and called her parents, crying uncontrollably during the call. Her parents thought she had a cold and told her to keep warm. After hanging up, Ding Xian cried even harder—no one understood her feelings right now. Su Baicong, ever warm-hearted, drove to find her, silently vowing never to let her be hurt again.

Kong Shadi dragged her suitcase to find Song Ziqi. She called Zhou Siyue and told him to come out and meet her or she wouldn’t leave. Song Ziqi told Zhou Siyue not to reveal where he was, so Zhou Siyue met Kong Shadi at the door and said he hadn’t seen Song Ziqi. But Kong Shadi knew Song Ziqi was there and asked Zhou Siyue to tell him she really cared. She said if Ding Xian ever disappeared too, Zhou Siyue would be just as heartbroken.

Ding Xian wanted to enter an art competition and went to find the editor Sun Yuanxiang, who had high hopes for her before. She asked if there was any way she could still join, even though the registration had closed. Sun Yuanxiang said she would go discuss it and told Ding Xian to wait. Afterward, Ding Xian met up with Kong Shadi and told her everything about what happened between her and Zhou Siyue. Kong Shadi was disappointed—the couple she had always rooted for now seemed like strangers.

Ding Xian received a call from Sun Yuanxiang saying she could sign a contract. Overjoyed, she rushed to the company to sign it.

Su Baicong called Xing Lufei to ask them out for a meal and hoped she would bring other classmates too—his real goal was to get Ding Xian to join. Zhou Siyue also heard about the dinner and decided to go. During the gathering, Xing Lufei took out the box of chocolates and returned them to Zhou Siyue, saying she had eaten them by accident last time. Only then did Ding Xian realize she had misunderstood him. Su Baicong had now started his own company and was investing in Ding Xian’s group, which was why he had invited them. Xing Lufei, seeing Su Baicong liked Ding Xian, tried to match them up. Feeling uncomfortable, Zhou Siyue left. Su Baicong followed him out and told him to give up on Ding Xian—he was more capable of making her happy now. But Zhou Siyue told Su Baicong that Ding Xian would always be with him and told him not to even think about it. Neither of them expected Ding Xian to overhear their conversation. Angry, she stormed off. Zhou Siyue chased after her to explain, but she didn’t give him the chance and told him to stop interfering with her future—they had nothing to do with each other anymore.

Though Zhou Siyue said he couldn’t live without Ding Xian, she no longer trusted him, leaving him heartbroken. Back at the dorm, he asked Song Ziqi what he would do if Kong Shadi were gone. Song Ziqi didn’t know how to answer.

Ding Xian called Kong Shadi and told her it was really over between her and Zhou Siyue. She had made up her mind to focus fully on her studies. Back at the dorm, she saw the gift Su Baicong had given her. His quiet care, while trying to stay close to her, gave her some comfort.

Song Ziqi ran into Kong Shadi at the library and fled in panic. Kong Shadi called Ding Xian for help, asking her to follow Zhou Siyue—she was sure that would lead them to Song Ziqi. In the school hallway, the two of them overheard Zhou Siyue calling Song Ziqi, discussing how Kong Shadi had found out, so they hurried back to the residence.
