With Zhou Siyue’s help, Ding Xian’s grades improved significantly. Teacher Liu even praised her in class, motivating her even more. At a school-wide assembly, Zhou Siyue gave a speech sharing his efforts and goals with all the students, subtly hinting at his feelings for Ding Xian, hoping she wouldn’t give up and would persist to achieve what she wanted. Ding Xian soon finished her exams, but she wasn’t happy.

She had forgotten how to do many of the questions and felt very discouraged. She thought she’d be separated from Zhou Siyue soon, and even Sun Shadi and Song Ziqi would no longer be together. The two best friends went out for drinks to blow off steam, swearing to always remain friends. Drunk, Ding Xian mistook a trash can for Zhou Siyue and wouldn’t let go of it.

Song Ziqi and Zhou Siyue, knowing they had gone out, went looking for them. Song Ziqi took Sun Shadi home, and Zhou Siyue carried Ding Xian back. On the way, Ding Xian, half-conscious, admitted she didn’t want to be separated from him. Meanwhile, Sun Shadi cried to Song Ziqi, not wanting to be apart. They had grown up together and didn’t know how to live without each other.

Knowing they’d be separated after the summer, Sun Shadi confessed that she had always liked Song Ziqi. He agreed to be there for her whenever she needed him, and they kissed for the first time. Ding Xian got her results — 576 points. Although decent, it wasn’t enough for Jiangling City. Her mother suggested applying to a top university in Hangzhou, but Ding Xian wanted to repeat the year.

Based on her past performance, she believed she could do even better. Zhou Siyue’s mom talked to him about leaving for Jiangling City early, so he went to say goodbye to Ding Xian. She told him to wait for her at Huaqing; she would get in too. Zhou Siyue gave her a gift — the robot she liked before. Ding Xian named it Siyue (April), a homonym for Siyue.

On her first day repeating the year, Ding Xian’s father placed her in Mr. Wang’s class. She didn’t dare slack off. After missing out on Huaqing once, she had to work even harder to reach her dream university. Zhou Siyue went to his father’s city for school. He secretly visited his father’s workplace to learn more and found out his father was suspected of plagiarism.

After returning home, Zhou Siyue told his father and asked if he could tell his mother too, believing that only then could the suspicion between them truly be resolved. He hoped his father could let go of the burden and find peace. Zhou Siyue called Ding Xian every day, and they exchanged blessings. Ding Xian asked him to send her photos of Huaqing.

After hanging up, Zhou Siyue talked with his mom about returning to Shenhai City to see Ding Xian before school started. Ding Xian began to doubt the path of repeating the year. One of her female classmates had been repeating for three years without getting into her dream school. So, she confided in Su Baicong, saying she was exhausted. While they were talking on the roadside, Zhou Siyue happened to see them from behind.
