The feelings between Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian grew deeper. As their eyes met, they were about to kiss, but Zhou Siyue held back and didn’t cross the line. Then Ding Xian got a call from her mom—her grandma was sick and they had to rush back to their hometown. Before leaving, her mom gave Zhou Siyue a key and asked him to take care of Ding Xian.

She invited Ding Xian to temporarily stay at their home, but Ding Xian declined, saying she could manage. Ding Xian spent the whole day at Zhou Siyue’s place and returned home at night. She called Kong Shadi for a chat when suddenly someone knocked on the door. She peeked through the peephole and saw a masked man peering inside. Terrified, she grabbed a mop to defend herself.

When the locked door was opened, she swung the mop—only to discover it was Zhou Siyue. Her mom had left him a key when she left, and it was Kong Shadi who called him over. When Zhou Siyue arrived, he found out a thief had been targeting Ding Xian’s home, but the security guard had already caught him. Zhou Siyue’s mom, worried about Ding Xian’s safety, brought her home.

Later, her mom called to say her grandma’s condition had improved, easing Ding Xian’s worries. Since Ding Xian would be staying at Zhou Siyue’s house, she needed to buy some daily essentials. While shopping at the mall together, they ran into Jiang Chen and You Keke. Seeing them shopping for home goods, You Keke assumed they were living together and told Kong Shadi, causing Ding Xian to hurriedly clarify that it was just temporary.

Zhou Siyue’s mom was very fond of Ding Xian and even showed her childhood photos of Zhou Siyue, which embarrassed him greatly. The next day, he went to wake Ding Xian up, but she, being a late sleeper, was annoyed. On the way to school, she even refused to ride his bike. At school, Kong Shadi and the others asked her if it was bliss living next door to Zhou Siyue.

Ding Xian claimed it felt awkward, but her face was glowing with happiness. Back home, with no adults around, they had dinner together and were clearly very happy. After finishing her homework, Ding Xian wanted to watch TV, but Zhou Siyue refused to give her the remote. She tried to snatch it and was surprisingly aggressive—he wasn’t even her match. When they got home from school, they heard Zhou Siyue’s parents arguing.

His mom cried, saying his dad must be seeing someone else since he never came home. Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian were shocked. But when the parents saw the kids, they immediately put on smiling faces and acted harmonious, even offering to cook for them. Ding Xian knew Zhou Siyue must be upset and went to his room to comfort him, promising not to tell anyone. Every family has its issues.

Zhou Siyue admitted their family wasn’t as happy as it seemed. His mom, being unemployed, was constantly suspicious of his dad and would start fights at the slightest rumor. Zhou Siyue understood his mom’s vulnerability well, and he was determined not to let anyone he cared about suffer the same way. Song Ziqi came to class and told them that He Xingwen’s father had an accident at a construction site.

During class, the teacher also mentioned the crisis in He Xingwen’s family and asked everyone to donate. Although Kong Shadi and the others were angry about He Xingwen’s past behavior, they still donated. This made He Xingwen feel ashamed, and he apologized to Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue for his previous wrongdoings. Ding Xian believed that Zhou Siyue’s grades were good enough for him to get a recommendation to Huaqing University. That way, he and his dad could both work in Jiangling City. Zhou Siyue also believed Ding Xian could get into Huaqing.
