Our Secret Synopsis

Zhou Siyue, the "Mr. Perfect" teenager, was truly the "kid everyone else's parents wished they had." He was a campus star, frequently representing the school in math Olympiads, and a warm-hearted young man who actively tutored his deskmate, Ding Xian. His smooth-sailing life suddenly hit a snag when his father was framed and hospitalized. He began to scramble to make ends meet, even experiencing periods of despondency and evasion, until he re-encountered the passionate young woman.

Ding Xian, the "little monster girl," became quiet, reserved, and obedient due to her mother's preference for sons. She studied diligently, becoming only the second person from Yanping Town to get into a key high school. When she met Zhou Siyue, she transformed from a timid, insecure, and sensitive girl who couldn't even pronounce English correctly, into a brave, resilient, confident, and outgoing individual who earnestly pursued her aspirations.

If, during their school years, Zhou Siyue was the one who helped Ding Xian set higher goals, then in college, Ding Xian was the one who helped Zhou Siyue regain his strength and face life positively.

Our Secret Recap

Episode 1 Recap

On the first day of the new semester on the university campus, Ding Xian pushed her suitcase to the boys' dormitory to look for Zhou Siyue. Unexpectedly, she was stopped by the dorm supervisor and not allowed in. Ignoring the curious gazes of others on campus, Ding Xian stood downstairs and shouted Zhou Siyue’s name, asking him to come down and get her.

Many people were watching her bold move, and Zhou Siyue, upon hearing she was looking for him, quickly shut off his computer and ran from the classroom back to the dorm building to meet her. Zhou Siyue's sunny and handsome appearance made him an idol to many students, so naturally, someone calling his name so loudly attracted attention.

Ding Xian directly told Zhou Siyue that she liked him, but Zhou Siyue didn’t want to be in a relationship and told her to go back to class since they both had their own lives. However, Ding Xian didn’t give up and gave Zhou Siyue a robot, which held her secret. Zhou Siyue brought the robot toy back to the dorm, where he found a website address inside. He opened the site on his computer, triggering memories from August 2009.

That year, Ding Xian’s parents moved the family to live in Shenhai City. The top priority after moving was dealing with work and the children’s schooling. With the help of Uncle Zhou, a friend of her father’s, Ding Xian and her younger brother Ding Juncong were able to attend an excellent school, and their father also landed a good job. Her parents brought them to visit the Zhou family to express their thanks. There, they met Zhou Siyue.

During dinner, Ding Xian’s mother brought up that their elders had once arranged a betrothal between Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue, making things awkward. Unexpectedly, Zhou Siyue casually said the engagement could be canceled, which made the atmosphere even more uncomfortable. Zhou Siyue’s father quickly smoothed things over, saying it was all just a joke and told Zhou Siyue not to take it seriously. But Ding Xian clearly wasn’t happy—she didn’t even like Zhou Siyue.

After returning home, Ding Xian’s mother scolded her for not knowing how to socialize, saying she should have tried to get closer to Zhou Siyue. Ding Xian was too much like her father—always bad at networking. When Ding Xian and her brother Ding Juncong fought over rooms, she bumped her forehead and went to the pharmacy for medicine, where she ran into Zhou Siyue. Because she didn’t have enough money, Zhou Siyue paid for her.

He then invited her to get snacks at a street stall. At first, Ding Xian was happy, but Zhou Siyue jokingly said the bump on her forehead looked like horns, which annoyed her, and she stormed off. At home, she was still angry and hoped not to see that jinx Zhou Siyue when school started. The next day, Ding Xian’s father Ding Wencheng had to rush to work and didn’t have time to take her to school.

She couldn’t find her school ID and nearly arrived late. When she got to school, the student assembly had already started, and a teacher from the academic office told her to stand at the back for being late. Coincidentally, Zhou Siyue was also late, and both of them were punished. Moreover, they were assigned to sit together, which made Ding Xian quite upset—what she feared most had happened. Ding Wencheng also worked at Ding Xian’s school.

On his first day, he wanted to introduce himself to the students but was met with indifference. They just wanted him to get to the lesson and skip the introductions, leaving him a bit embarrassed. In contrast, those same students were very respectful to their former teacher. Ding Xian thought she and Zhou Siyue were just temporary desk mates, but the teacher said they wouldn’t reshuffle seats for another month. This made Ding Xian quite miserable.

After class, her father invited her to dinner, but Ding Xian ran off, afraid of being laughed at by classmates. While eating, Su Baicong came to invite Ding Xian to eat with him. They had known each other since childhood and were both excellent students in their senior year, so their interaction drew much attention. A girl who liked Zhou Siyue became jealous of Ding Xian for sitting with him and deliberately tried to embarrass her.

In class, the teacher asked Ding Xian a math question she hadn’t learned before, leaving her flustered. Zhou Siyue easily solved it, which surprised Ding Xian. After class, Zhou Siyue explained the problem to her, but Ding Xian was a bit impatient—she didn’t like the feeling of always being overshadowed by him.

Episode 2 Recap

Ding Wencheng found out Ding Xian wanted a phone and thought about giving her his, but Ding Xian maturely declined. When they talked about switching seats with Zhou Siyue, Ding Xian learned that her father had asked Zhou Siyue to do it. She was upset—she didn’t want that kind of arrangement. The next day, she left for school alone without waiting for Zhou Siyue. When she saw him at school, she quickly avoided him.

Zhou Siyue found it strange—she hadn’t waited for him and nearly made him late, and now she was avoiding him too. After practicing her oral English, Ding Xian went to the English teacher to recite. The teacher was pleased with her performance. On the way back to class, a classmate accidentally spilled water on her. Since it was summer and she was wearing light clothes, she stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do.

Zhou Siyue quickly arrived, took off his jacket and covered her, telling the others not to crowd around and watch. Once again, Ding Xian felt Zhou Siyue’s warmth. Zhou Siyue then talked about how when he was five years old, his house caught fire and he had to live at Ding Xian’s home for a while. He didn’t know how to use the outdoor toilet and wet the bed.

Ding Xian had kept that secret for him, and Zhou Siyue felt he owed her a favor—that’s why he was always helping her. Hearing this, Ding Xian laughed, realizing Zhou Siyue had embarrassing moments too. Zhou Siyue quickly told her to keep quiet, afraid others would hear and he’d die of embarrassment. Zhou Siyue wanted to take Ding Xian out. She even wore perfume and dressed up. At dinner, they ran into senior Su Baicong.

Ding Xian was polite to him, and Zhou Siyue, feeling a bit jealous, ate all the desserts meant for the two of them. When Ding Xian got home, there was nothing left. She found Zhou Siyue’s jealous behavior funny. Later, they went to a movie and unexpectedly ran into Yang Chunzi and another male classmate. Ding Xian looked at Zhou Siyue and asked if he was upset, but he didn’t seem to care.

On the way back, Zhou Siyue told Ding Xian that watching the movie meant he had repaid the favor from when he was five—they were now even. Just then, they ran into their homeroom teacher and had to flee. It started to rain, and Zhou Siyue hugged Ding Xian under a wall, using his clothes to shield her from the rain. Once again, Ding Xian felt his warmth.

As New Year’s approached, Ding Xian prepared a greeting card for Zhou Siyue but hid when she saw him. Zhou Siyue was disappointed and told her that all the other desk mates had given out cards—only he didn’t get one. Their conversation was overheard by a teacher who made them stand outside the classroom. From her pocket, Ding Xian secretly handed Zhou Siyue the card she drew, which instantly made him happy.

After the test, Ding Xian’s grades were still average. The teacher urged everyone to work harder because the next exam results would determine new seating arrangements. Ding Xian silently worked hard—she didn’t want to change seats from Zhou Siyue. On New Year’s Day, Song Ziqi took Sun Disha out. Zhou Siyue had no one to hang out with, so they went to find Ding Xian.

Although she had been focused on studying, when she saw everyone come for her, she put down her books and joined them. Unexpectedly, traffic was terrible, and by midnight they were still stuck on the road. Zhou Siyue told everyone to get out and run to the bridge to watch fireworks and celebrate the new year.

Episode 3 Recap

While playing basketball on the court, a ball nearly hit Ding Xian. Zhou Siyue quickly pulled her into his arms and blocked the ball with his arm. Ding Xian blushed and ran away. Back in the classroom, everyone was sharing chocolates. Ding Xian turned back and gave Zhou Siyue a piece.

But his desk mate Wanwan brought out the class rules and said they shouldn’t eat, and even if Zhou Siyue liked chocolate, it had to be imported—her family had lots and she would bring him some later. Ding Xian felt a little embarrassed, but Zhou Siyue didn’t care and snatched the chocolate from her hand and ate it. Everyone sneered at Wanwan’s behavior—she always belittled others to elevate herself.

At home, Ding Xian’s mother told her to go to the arcade to find her brother. Ding Juncong didn’t want to go home and even lied that Ding Xian hit him, making her furious. She grabbed his ear and tried to drag him home. Just then, Zhou Siyue and some classmates also came to play. Ding Xian quickly let go of her brother. Zhou Siyue coldly told Ding Xian to move back after school and left.

Wanwan told Ding Xian that Zhou Siyue had talked to her and wanted to switch seats back because Ding Xian’s grades were poor, and he wanted to help tutor her. While playing games, Ding Xian beat Song Ziqi at the dance machine, which made everyone see her in a new light. Later, she lost to Zhou Siyue at the claw machine and, feeling frustrated, went home with her brother.

Back home, Ding Xian asked her mom if she could buy a phone. Her classmates had a hard time contacting her, but her mom didn’t agree, thinking students shouldn’t have phones and should focus on studying. Homeroom teacher Mr. Liu questioned Zhou Siyue, suspecting he had ulterior motives for sitting with Ding Xian. Just then, Ding Wencheng arrived. Zhou Siyue quickly said he wanted Ding Xian to help him in Chinese while he helped her in math.

Ding Wencheng thought it was a good idea, and the homeroom teacher agreed, allowing them to sit together. Ding Xian’s math grades had plateaued, leaving her feeling helpless. She never expected to get into a top university—her goal was just Hangzhou. Zhou Siyue told her she could ask him if she didn’t understand. Though Ding Xian thought Zhou Siyue never paid attention in class, his grades were always excellent.

Ding Xian believed that more time spent would lead to results, but Zhou Siyue told her the method mattered too, or she would just be wasting effort. At home, her mom saw that she had fewer notes and thought she was slacking off, but her dad believed focusing on key points was a good strategy. Ding Xian told them it was Zhou Siyue’s idea, and her parents agreed she should learn from him.

The next day, Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian went to school together. Zhou Siyue helped carry her heavy schoolbag. At school, they ran into Yang Chunzi, who was on sick leave. It seemed she also liked Zhou Siyue. During lunch, she even approached Zhou Siyue, making everyone think Ding Xian had a rival. The homeroom teacher asked the class to elect class committee members. Deng Wanwan, who had been acting class president, volunteered to continue and asked for support.

The teacher asked Zhou Siyue to be the academic rep, but he declined and passed it to He Xingwen. Song Ziqi volunteered to be sports rep. When it came to the arts rep, Sun Disha nominated Ding Xian, but Yang Chunzi jumped in before Ding Xian could stand up. Later, Yang Chunzi saw Ding Xian was good at drawing and asked her to work on the class bulletin board together.

Sun Disha warned not to be fooled by Yang Chunzi’s sweet appearance. Ding Xian always used Chinese characters to annotate her English vocabulary. Zhou Siyue told her to use phonetic symbols instead. Ding Xian was impatient. During class, when the teacher called on her, her pronunciation was off, and she was criticized. Then Yang Chunzi read with perfect pronunciation, making Ding Xian feel inferior in front of Zhou Siyue. She later went to talk to Su Baicong about it, thinking Zhou Siyue liked Yang Chunzi. Su Baicong reassured her, saying that kind of feeling was common during adolescence.

Episode 4 Recap

Ding Wencheng found out that Ding Xian wanted a phone and thought about giving her his own, but Ding Xian, being sensible, didn’t accept it. The two talked about Zhou Siyue switching seats with her, and Ding Xian learned it was her father who had asked Zhou Siyue to do so. She became a bit upset, as she didn’t want that arrangement.

The next day, Ding Xian didn’t wait for Zhou Siyue to go to school together and left by herself. At school, when she saw Zhou Siyue, she quickly avoided him. This puzzled Zhou Siyue—she hadn’t waited for him that morning, almost making him late, and now she was avoiding him. After practicing her English oral presentation, Ding Xian went to the teacher to recite it. The teacher was very pleased with her performance.

On the way back to the classroom, a classmate accidentally spilled water on her. It was summer and everyone wore thin clothes, so Ding Xian stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Zhou Siyue rushed over, took off his jacket and covered her with it, telling the onlookers to disperse and not to crowd around. Once again, Ding Xian felt the warmth of Zhou Siyue.

Zhou Siyue shared a story about when he was five and had to temporarily stay at Ding Xian’s home because his house caught fire. At that time, he wasn’t used to using the outdoor toilet and wet the bed. Ding Xian helped him keep it a secret. Zhou Siyue felt he owed her a favor since then, which is why he had always helped her. After hearing this, Ding Xian laughed, realizing even Zhou Siyue had embarrassing moments.

Zhou Siyue quickly told her not to tell anyone—it would be super embarrassing if people found out. Zhou Siyue invited Ding Xian to hang out. Ding Xian even put on perfume and dressed up. While eating, they ran into upperclassman Su Baicong. Ding Xian was very polite to him, which made Zhou Siyue a little jealous. He ended up eating all the snacks they ordered, leaving nothing for Ding Xian when they returned. Ding Xian found his jealous expression amusing.

They later went to see a movie together, and unexpectedly ran into Yang Chunzi and another male classmate. Ding Xian looked at Zhou Siyue and asked if he felt a little sad, but Zhou Siyue brushed it off. On the way back, Zhou Siyue told Ding Xian that watching the movie was his way of repaying the favor from when they were five—now they were even. Just then, they ran into their homeroom teacher, which scared them into running away.

It started raining, and Zhou Siyue pulled Ding Xian under a wall and used his clothes to shield her from the rain. Once again, Ding Xian felt Zhou Siyue’s warmth. For New Year's, Ding Xian prepared a greeting card for Zhou Siyue but hid when she saw him coming. Zhou Siyue was a bit disappointed that Ding Xian didn’t give him a card and told her that all the other deskmates received cards—he was the only one who didn’t.

Their conversation was noticed by the teacher, and they were sent outside to stand in the hallway as punishment. Ding Xian handed Zhou Siyue the card she had drawn herself, making Zhou Siyue instantly happy. After a test, Ding Xian’s grades were still average. The teacher told the class they all needed to work harder, and that their seats would be reassigned after the next test.

Ding Xian quietly resolved to study hard because she didn’t want to change seats away from Zhou Siyue. On New Year’s Eve, Song Ziqi took Sun Disha out, and Zhou Siyue, with no one to accompany him, went to find Ding Xian. Even though Ding Xian had been studying hard, she put down her books and joined them. Unexpectedly, the roads were heavily congested, and by midnight, they were still stuck in the car. So Zhou Siyue suggested they get out and run to the bridge to watch the fireworks and welcome the new year.

Episode 5 Recap

After returning home, Ding Xian quietly snuck into her room. Her mom came in and urged her to rest her feet and stop studying. Ding Xian pretended to be tired and ready for bed—she didn’t want her parents to know she had gone out for New Year's. But in her heart, she kept thinking about the saying, “The person who spends New Year's Eve with you will stay by your side forever.” Ding Xian hoped that would come true.

Ding Xian caught a cold from being out in the chill. With exams right after New Year’s, she didn’t do well because she wasn’t feeling well and worried that her seat would be reassigned, which made her quite upset. When she got home, Zhou Siyue came by to deliver her report card. Ding Xian quickly got out of bed and cleaned her room. Zhou Siyue gave her the report card and told her that she had actually done well.

Ding Xian was planning to go back to her hometown for the break, so Zhou Siyue left his phone number, asking her to contact him anytime. After Zhou Siyue got home, his mom complained that it felt lonely during the holidays since his dad was busy and wouldn’t be off until New Year's Eve.

Zhou Siyue said that Ding Xian and her family had gone back to their hometown, and suggested that maybe she should also consider going back for the holidays. Su Baicong visited Ding Xian and talked about the exams. Ding Xian felt she hadn’t done well and would probably be separated from Zhou Siyue when school resumed. Her mood was down. Su Baicong sarcastically pointed out that every time she opened her mouth, it was about Zhou Siyue.

Ding Xian also found it odd herself, but just thinking about Zhou Siyue made her happy. Ding Xian took out Zhou Siyue’s number and wanted to call to wish him a happy new year. In another city, Zhou Siyue was also waiting for her call. In the end, he couldn’t wait any longer and called Ding Xian first. She had been sitting by the phone and answered immediately when she saw his number.

Watching this, Su Baicong felt a little disappointed, realizing Ding Xian only had Zhou Siyue in her heart. The holiday passed quickly. Ding Xian was worried about changing seats, but Zhou Siyue told her not to worry—there would be no change. Her mood instantly brightened. It turned out Zhou Siyue had intentionally left some answers blank so their scores would be close and they could stay seatmates. To thank him, Ding Xian invited Zhou Siyue to a meal.

That’s when he found out it was Ding Xian’s birthday and took her to the science museum. He gave her a star map of the sky from the night of her birthday as a gift. Ding Xian helped Zhou Siyue with his class duty and asked him and Song Ziqi to go play basketball. While she was cleaning, You Keke came to her for a favor—she wanted Ding Xian to pass a letter to Zhou Siyue.

Sun Shadi snatched the letter and warned Ding Xian not to be fooled. You Keke was known for being flirtatious and liked hanging out with boys. Sun Shadi told Ding Xian to tear the letter open to see what was inside, but Ding Xian refused. While they were struggling over the letter, Sun Shadi accidentally tore it up. Ding Xian got angry, and the two started arguing.

Sun Shadi accused Ding Xian of being fake—although she was the one who tore the letter, she believed Ding Xian secretly wanted that. After Zhou Siyue and Song Ziqi returned from playing basketball, Sun Shadi left angrily and Ding Xian looked gloomy. On the way home, Ding Xian told Zhou Siyue not to wait for her to go to and from school together anymore to avoid misunderstandings. At home, she reassembled the torn letter and copied it out again.

The next day at school, Zhou Siyue found the letter in his desk. Sun Shadi was still angry with Ding Xian and refused to talk to her. Song Ziqi figured they must’ve had a fight and comforted Ding Xian, saying that Sun Shadi would come around soon.

Episode 6 Recap

The school was preparing for the sports meet, and the homeroom teacher asked Song Ziqi to lead the class and sign up everyone for events. After school, You Keke approached Ding Xian again, this time with a glass jar filled with paper stars, and asked her to pass it to Zhou Siyue. Ding Xian felt helpless—she didn’t understand why You Keke always asked her for favors.

The next day, Zhou Siyue received the gift in his desk and assumed it was from Ding Xian. He said he had read the previous letter and chose to forgive her for what she said. Sun Shadi, sitting in front, interjected and told Zhou Siyue it wasn’t Ding Xian but You Keke who sent the gift. Zhou Siyue was taken aback and asked Ding Xian to step outside—he had something to say.

Zhou Siyue scolded Ding Xian, telling her not to act like a delivery person for others, not to be afraid of useless gossip, and not to pass along gifts for others again. With the sports meet approaching, You Keke thanked Ding Xian for helping her earlier and said she wanted to have meals together from now on. This made Sun Shadi jealous, thinking Ding Xian had become close with girls from other classes and was ignoring her.

Meanwhile, the water Ding Xian had prepared for Zhou Siyue after his long run was taken by another male student, which made Zhou Siyue furious. At home, Ding Xian continued writing in her diary. She still hadn’t given Zhou Siyue the drawing she prepared, hadn’t made up with Sun Shadi, and hadn’t dared refuse You Keke’s request for help. Ding Xian felt she was just a timid and overly agreeable girl. On Zhou Siyue’s birthday, they still hadn’t made up.

Everyone gathered to celebrate with him, and he kept waiting for Ding Xian to show up. Ding Xian had forgotten his birthday—she only realized when she pulled out the gift she had prepared for him and saw the date written on it. In a rush, she ran out to find Zhou Siyue. When she mustered the courage to open the private room in the restaurant, it was already empty. Ding Xian felt disappointed.

Just then, Zhou Siyue came in from outside. Ding Xian apologized, and Zhou Siyue asked her to make it up to him by blowing out the candles with him again. Ding Xian gave him the gift she had prepared: a drawing of the nebula from his birthday night. Zhou Siyue, in return, gave Ding Xian a phone—his prize gift from winning an award—so he could reach her anytime. During the holiday, the school arranged extra classes.

Zhou Siyue, already familiar with the curriculum for the second year of high school, explained things to Ding Xian. The teacher called Zhou Siyue over to talk about a city-level competition and wanted him to participate. He Xingwen overheard while hiding nearby. Ding Xian accidentally stepped on Sun Shadi’s diary—a gift from her father from Japan and her favorite notebook. Sun Shadi locked herself in the bathroom and cried.

Ding Xian chased after her to apologize and offered to replace it. She also confessed about everything that happened and hoped for forgiveness. Touched by Ding Xian’s sincere apology, Sun Shadi reconciled with her. Back home, Zhou Siyue teased Ding Xian for managing to make up with Sun Shadi but not giving him the same courtesy, saying he was really pitiful. One day, a group of friends had a meal together and discussed whether to choose humanities or science.

Sun Shadi and Zhou Siyue were good at science, and Ding Xian also decided to work hard in science so she wouldn’t be separated from them. Just then, You Keke showed up, wanting to sit next to Ding Xian. Sun Shadi didn’t like You Keke, and the two argued over Ding Xian. Ding Xian told Sun Shadi to go back to the classroom first—she wanted to talk to You Keke.

You Keke told Ding Xian she no longer liked cold and aloof boys like Zhou Siyue and wanted to hang out with Song Ziqi instead. Ding Xian told her not to do that, or Sun Shadi would get angry.

Episode 7 Recap

Ding Xian’s nearsightedness had worsened a bit. She was thinking about asking her mom to get her new glasses, but her mom told her to just switch seats and sit closer to the front. Changing glasses would only make her eyesight worse. Hearing this, Ding Xian quickly said she’d rather stay in her current seat. Her mom was angry when she heard Ding Xian wanted to study science, insisting that she must study liberal arts.

Scared, Ding Xian quickly retreated to her room. Her dad went in to find her and gave her a cellphone. Feeling guilty, Ding Xian confessed why she had borrowed a phone. Her dad had actually already known about it but had never confronted her. Ding Wencheng told Ding Xian to return the phone and not bring one to school again. He also suggested she reconsider her mother’s advice, that studying science could be too tough for a girl.

However, if Ding Xian truly made up her mind, he would respect her choice. Her Chinese teacher thought Ding Xian wrote great essays and suggested she consider the liberal arts. The homeroom teacher also told Ding Xian to think carefully before filling in the form. Just then, He Xingwen came in and said he also wanted to join the competition. Since Zhou Siyue, whose grades were lower than his, could join, he should be able to as well.

The teacher handed He Xingwen a set of test papers and told him to take them home and finish them first. Ding Xian was torn about choosing between liberal arts and science and wanted advice from Zhou Siyue. Zhou Siyue told her that whatever she chose, he would support her. He Xingwen was jealous upon learning that Zhou Siyue was recommended by the teacher for Huaxing University.

Ding Xian snapped back, saying He Xingwen was only good enough for an average university because of his narrow mindset. This made Zhou Siyue see her in a new light. During P. E. class, Ding Xian got hit in the eye by a ball. Zhou Siyue rushed her to the hospital for a check-up. While waiting for the results, they talked about choosing between liberal arts and science.

Ding Xian thanked Zhou Siyue for his support—everyone else questioned her decision, but only Zhou Siyue encouraged her to choose what she liked. When Ding Xian went to deliver her science subject selection form to the homeroom teacher, she saw Zhou Siyue being scolded. Back in class, she asked him about it. Zhou Siyue simply said he was under a lot of academic pressure and got told off by the teacher.

Ding Xian told him that whatever he chose, she would support him. Sun Shadi wanted to give Ding Xian a blunt bang haircut. Ding Xian doubted her skills, but under Sun Shadi’s insistence, she gave in. Unexpectedly, Sun Shadi made her bangs look like those of a country bumpkin. Ding Xian had to wear a hat when going out. Zhou Siyue told her not to feel insecure and to take off her hat for confidence.

A few friends arranged to play billiards. Zhou Siyue taught Ding Xian how to play hand-in-hand, which made her very happy. The homeroom teacher made a home visit to Ding Xian. Her mom got angry upon learning she had chosen science. The teacher also thought science might not suit her well. Hearing this implied criticism, her mom changed her tone, saying Ding Xian had always done well in school, and if her grades dropped, the teacher should take responsibility.

The homeroom teacher was left speechless. After Ding Xian returned from playing basketball, her mom was waiting in the living room and scolded both her and her dad, demanding her dad find a way to transfer her to the liberal arts class.

Episode 8 Recap

Ding Xian was on the phone with Zhou Siyue when her mom entered the room. Startled, she quickly hid the phone, but her mom had already seen it and confiscated it under the guise of "temporary safekeeping," telling Ding Xian to focus on her studies. Song Ziqi brought a group of classmates to celebrate Sun Shadi’s birthday at a karaoke lounge. Some guys Sun Shadi knew came in and insisted she join them in their private room.

When she refused, they tried to drag her away. Song Ziqi stepped in and said he knew Jiang Chen, which scared the guys off. The girls were impressed that Song Ziqi handled so many people alone. Song Ziqi, feeling smug, told Sun Shadi that if she stuck with him, she wouldn’t be mistreated. Mr. Liu wanted to know what Zhou Siyue had done the previous night and told him not to bottle things up. But Zhou Siyue wouldn’t say.

Unexpectedly, He Xingwen overheard Zhou Siyue on the phone and found out he had gone to help Ding Xian. He told Mr. Liu. After the exam, Ding Xian scored a solid 270 points, which made her very happy. Zhou Siyue was also pleased for her. Their interactions caught Mr. Liu’s attention and seemed to raise his suspicions. Ding Xian showed her score to her mom, who was thrilled and agreed she could stay in the science class.

But Mr. Liu lectured her, saying she was too close to Zhou Siyue, which might affect her studies. He suggested she switch seats with Song Ziqi. Ding Xian asked Mr. Liu for a chance—if her grades dropped, they could then consider changing seats. Back in class, she and Sun Shadi speculated it must have been some jealous girl behind it, envious of how close Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue had become.

Some boys, knowing Ding Xian’s grades had improved, asked her for help with questions. But Zhou Siyue solved them easily from the side, so they turned to him instead. Ding Xian was left out and didn’t know what to say. Class Three was going to have a basketball match against Class Eight. Class Eight had banners and slogans and seemed aggressive, while Class Three's cheer squad hadn’t prepared, making them look weak.

Angry, Deng Wanwan wanted to print a banner, but the match was starting soon, so it was too late. Ding Xian suggested everyone make signs and banners on cardboard to cheer on the boys. But by the time they got to the court, the first half had already ended, and they were trailing by a lot. Zhou Siyue, exhausted, hadn’t played in the first half and had been sleeping.

He woke up for the second half, geared up, and soon tied the score. Mr. Liu also led cheers for Class Three, boosting morale. But just as Zhou Siyue leaped over a hurdle, he was knocked down by the opponent and twisted his ankle. Everyone was worried, but Zhou Siyue, experienced in such things, turned out to be fine. As the whistle blew, he scored and secured the win.

Mr. Liu announced to the class that Zhou Siyue had passed the test and would represent the school in a math competition. He Xingwen disdained the decision, claiming Zhou Siyue was Mr. Liu’s godson. Mr. Liu hadn’t cared when Zhou Siyue sneaked out before, but now he could go to competitions—He Xingwen thought it was unfair. Other classmates condemned He Xingwen for always being jealous of Zhou Siyue.

Ding Xian also told him that if he thought it was unfair, he should talk to the teacher instead of gossiping behind people's backs. Angry, He Xingwen stormed off alone. Ding Xian visited Zhou Siyue’s home. His mom wasn’t there, and he hadn’t eaten yet. So she made instant noodles for him. Ding Xian even fed him, which made Zhou Siyue feel awkward. While cleaning, Ding Xian’s mom found her diary, full of entries about Zhou Siyue.

Furious, she went to confront Ding Xian. In a panic, Ding Xian snatched the diary and threw it out the window to stop her mom from reading it aloud. Angry, Ding Xian ran out. When she got downstairs to retrieve the diary, it was gone. Just then, Zhou Siyue came to find her. Upon learning she was looking for her diary, he helped search with her, but they couldn’t find it.

Zhou Siyue remembered a junk collector passing by and guessed they might have taken it. Ding Xian was heartbroken. Zhou Siyue invited her to his place to cheer her up, as his mom wasn’t home. He brought out a robot to amuse her, which made Ding Xian laugh. Seeing she felt better, Zhou Siyue told her to eat before heading home.

Episode 9 Recap

Ding Xian was on the phone with Zhou Siyue when her mom came in. Startled, she quickly hid the phone, but her mom noticed and took it away, saying she would keep it safe for now and told Ding Xian to focus on her studies. Song Ziqi brought a group of classmates to celebrate Sun Shadi’s birthday at a karaoke lounge. Some guys Sun Shadi knew showed up and insisted on dragging her to their private room.

She refused, so they tried to pull her away. Song Ziqi stepped in and claimed to know Jiang Chen, which scared the guys off. The girls were amazed that Song Ziqi handled everything alone, and he smugly told Sun Shadi that she wouldn’t suffer if she stuck with him. Mr. Liu wanted to know where Zhou Siyue went the previous night and urged him not to keep things to himself.

Zhou Siyue didn’t say, but He Xingwen overheard him on the phone and found out he had gone to help Ding Xian. He reported it to Mr. Liu. After the exam, Ding Xian scored a solid 270 points, which made her very happy. Zhou Siyue was also happy for her. Their close interactions made Mr. Liu suspicious. Ding Xian went home and showed her score to her mom, who was pleased and agreed she could stay in the science class.

But Mr. Liu lectured her, saying she was too close to Zhou Siyue and that it might affect her studies. He suggested she switch seats with Song Ziqi. Ding Xian asked for a chance and said if her grades dropped, then they could change seats. Later, she and Sun Shadi guessed it must have been some jealous girl behind it, envious of her closeness with Zhou Siyue.

After her grades went up, some boys approached Ding Xian for help with questions. But Zhou Siyue, sitting nearby, solved them easily, and the boys turned to him instead. Ding Xian was left out and didn’t know how to respond. Class Three was set to play a basketball game against Class Eight. Class Eight came prepared with banners and slogans, exuding confidence, while Class Three’s cheer squad had nothing, looking weak.

Frustrated, Deng Wanwan wanted to print a banner, but the game was about to start. Ding Xian told everyone to prepare cardboard signs and banners to cheer for the boys. By the time they arrived, the first half had ended, and Class Eight led by a wide margin. Zhou Siyue hadn’t played in the first half due to exhaustion. In the second half, he geared up and soon tied the score.

Mr. Liu led the class in cheers, and the atmosphere improved. But just as Zhou Siyue jumped over a hurdle, he was knocked down by an opponent and twisted his ankle. Everyone was worried, but Zhou Siyue, being tough, was fine and managed to secure the win at the buzzer. Mr. Liu announced that Zhou Siyue had passed the test and would represent the school in the math competition.

He Xingwen sneered at the decision, saying Zhou Siyue was like Mr. Liu’s godson. In the past, when Zhou Siyue sneaked out, Mr. Liu ignored it. Now, he could even represent the school—He Xingwen felt it was unfair. Other classmates criticized He Xingwen, telling him to stop being jealous. Ding Xian told him that if he thought it was unfair, he should talk to the teacher directly instead of gossiping. Angry, He Xingwen walked off alone.

Ding Xian visited Zhou Siyue at his home. His mom wasn’t there, and he hadn’t eaten, so Ding Xian made him instant noodles. She even fed him, which made Zhou Siyue very uneasy. While cleaning, Ding Xian’s mom found her diary, which was full of memories with Zhou Siyue. Furious, she went to confront Ding Xian. Ding Xian snatched the diary and threw it out the window to stop her from reading it out loud. Angry, she ran outside.

When she got downstairs to retrieve the diary, it was already gone. Just then, Zhou Siyue arrived, learned about the lost diary, and helped her search. They still couldn’t find it. Zhou Siyue remembered seeing a junk collector earlier and suspected it had been taken. Ding Xian was heartbroken. Zhou Siyue invited her to his house again. His mom wasn’t home, and he brought out a robot to cheer her up. The robot made her laugh, and once she seemed better, Zhou Siyue told her to eat before heading home.

Episode 10 Recap

When they got home, they saw her mom waiting downstairs. Ding Xian ignored her and stormed upstairs. Her mom thanked Zhou Siyue for bringing Ding Xian home and tried to ask if Ding Xian had a crush on any boy at school recently, but Zhou Siyue didn’t say anything, leaving her with no choice. Back home, Ding Wencheng scolded her for reading Ding Xian’s diary, calling it unethical, but her mom didn’t think she was wrong at all.

Teacher Liu called Ding Xian to the office and criticized her—despite normally being able to solve such problems, she couldn’t finish them in the exam. Ding Xian was very disappointed in herself and felt down. But she had already promised Teacher Liu that if her grades weren’t good, she’d switch seats with Song Ziqi. So she kept her word and ended up sitting with Kong Shadi.

Later, Zhou Siyue asked her why she switched seats, and Ding Xian didn’t know how to explain. Seeing that she had something she couldn’t say, Zhou Siyue didn’t press her. At the basketball gym, Zhou Siyue was talking to Yang Chunzi, and Ding Xian along with Kong Shadi saw them. They were both angry at Zhou Siyue’s behavior and asked Song Ziqi to find out what they were talking about.

Song Ziqi read their lips and figured they were talking about a play. Ding Xian assumed they were planning to go see a play together and felt both upset and angry. Ding Xian’s mom visited Zhou Siyue’s home and felt that Ding Xian’s grades couldn’t compare to Zhou Siyue’s. She was very worried about her daughter.

But Zhou Siyue told her not to think that way—Ding Xian would prove herself with good grades and hoped they would have faith in her. Ding Xian stayed mad at Zhou Siyue and avoided talking to him, so Kong Shadi tried to create opportunities for them to reconcile. She and Song Ziqi planned a weekend outing to give them a chance to talk.

When they met up, they ran into Jiang Chen, who was short on cash lately and wanted to borrow some money. Just then, You Keke showed up and, after hearing about the incidents near Bashu Middle School involving Xie Liang, went off with Jiang Chen to stake out the suspected pervert at No. 18 Middle School. Ding Xian’s mom gave her a new outfit. Ding Xian was a bit taken aback by her sudden kindness.

Knowing Ding Xian was going to a concert with Kong Shadi, her mom specially bought her a designer brand. Ding Xian happily wore the new outfit to the outing. Only when she arrived did she realize Zhou Siyue was also there. Kong Shadi and Song Ziqi, satisfied that the two were inside together, left the venue. It turned out this was all arranged by them to help matchmake Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue—mission accomplished.

After the concert, the two talked a lot and cleared up their misunderstanding. Ding Xian had been distancing herself to avoid dragging Zhou Siyue down. Zhou Siyue promised to help her with her studies and improve her grades. Later, when Song Ziqi was walking Kong Shadi home, Jiang Chen and You Keke spotted them. Jiang Chen mistook Song Ziqi for the pervert who harassed Ding Xian and, with his head covered, beat him up.

Kong Shadi was off buying something at the time, so Jiang Chen and You Keke gave Song Ziqi quite a beating. Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian arrived and joined the fight, thinking they were dealing with a pervert. Even Kong Shadi joined in. When they realized what was going on, Song Ziqi’s face was already badly bruised. Just then, they heard Ding Juncong shouting—he was being harassed by a real thug.

Song Ziqi ran over and gave the thug a good beating. The earlier punches he took were apparently on behalf of the real pervert, and now he wasn’t going to let it go. Zhou Siyue walked Ding Xian and her younger brother home and gave her a gift—a set of art supplies. He told her it was what he had asked Yang Chunzi to help buy at the gym. Ding Xian realized she had misunderstood Zhou Siyue; the play Song Ziqi had lip-read wasn’t a stage play—it was “huàjù” as in art supplies.

Episode 11 Recap

The school was organizing a painting competition in the city. Zhou Siyue signaled to Kong Shadi to help sign Ding Xian up, hoping she’d participate. But back home, her mom insisted on prioritizing grades and didn’t want her to join. That made Ding Xian very upset. Her younger brother’s composition made their mom even angrier—it portrayed her as a domineering shrew. Ding Wencheng, realizing his son was in trouble, quickly told him to rewrite it.

Ding Wencheng dressed up and invited their mom to a concert, which put her in a great mood. She wanted to take Ding Juncong too, but he didn’t want to go. Angry, she told Ding Xian to watch him and make sure he studied. Once the parents left, Zhou Siyue called Ding Xian out to hang out, but she couldn’t go because Ding Juncong was home.

So she tried to get him to go out and play games, but the mischievous boy insisted on staying home just to make trouble. At that moment, Kong Shadi and Song Ziqi showed up and told Ding Xian to go join Zhou Siyue while they handled Ding Juncong. Zhou Siyue rode Jiang Chen’s e-scooter to take her away.

When Jiang Chen and You Keke were about to go out, they discovered the scooter was gone—only a note from Zhou Siyue remained saying he borrowed it. You Keke was annoyed, and the two had to rent shared bikes to go out for a ride. Zhou Siyue managed to get Ding Xian to the exam site just in time. Afterward, she thanked him sincerely. To her, painting was more than a hobby—it held deeper meaning.

When she got home, Ding Juncong had turned the place into a junkyard. Kong Shadi and Song Ziqi were completely helpless against his chaos—he was like a little demon. Knowing their mom was about to come back, everyone quickly cleaned up. When the parents returned, everything was back in order. Their mom was very grateful for their help in tutoring Ding Juncong and even invited them to stay for dinner—she was clearly in a much better mood.

Ding Xian didn’t let everyone down and achieved her goal in the painting competition. Everyone was overjoyed and went out to celebrate. Jiang Chen was planning to join the army. The others were sad about the upcoming farewell, but Zhou Siyue knew this had been Jiang Chen’s dream since childhood. He wished him well and encouraged him to aim for the National Defense Academy—if he got in, they could still fight side-by-side for the country.

Due to her period, Ding Xian had severe stomach pain. Zhou Siyue thoughtfully went to the nurse’s office and got her medicine, warming her heart. She started thinking seriously about whether Zhou Siyue was planning to apply to that university—if so, it would motivate her too. Since her grades were average, it would be hard to get into a top university. Zhou Siyue promised to help tutor her, so her grades could improve.

From then on, the two were inseparable—walking to and from school together, appearing together on the track and in class. Ding Xian’s grades improved dramatically, and she even ranked first in the class in the mock exam. Their classmates planned a camping trip to mark their last summer before senior year. Ding Xian asked her mom, who initially disagreed, but with Su Baicong’s persuasion, she eventually agreed. Su Baicong also joined the camping trip.

It was the first time he and Zhou Siyue met in person, though both had heard about each other from Ding Xian. On the surface, they were polite, but inside, they saw each other as rivals in love. Even while having fun, they still made time to study. Su Baicong invited Ding Xian to dance around the bonfire. Zhou Siyue, worried they might get too close, joined in too. Song Ziqi even pushed their hands together.

Ding Xian was shy but also happy. She unintentionally mentioned that her goal of getting into a top university was all because of Zhou Siyue. He was delighted, but Ding Xian quickly covered it up by saying she just wanted to learn from him because he was a role model.

Episode 12 Recap

The feelings between Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian grew deeper. As their eyes met, they were about to kiss, but Zhou Siyue held back and didn’t cross the line. Then Ding Xian got a call from her mom—her grandma was sick and they had to rush back to their hometown. Before leaving, her mom gave Zhou Siyue a key and asked him to take care of Ding Xian.

She invited Ding Xian to temporarily stay at their home, but Ding Xian declined, saying she could manage. Ding Xian spent the whole day at Zhou Siyue’s place and returned home at night. She called Kong Shadi for a chat when suddenly someone knocked on the door. She peeked through the peephole and saw a masked man peering inside. Terrified, she grabbed a mop to defend herself.

When the locked door was opened, she swung the mop—only to discover it was Zhou Siyue. Her mom had left him a key when she left, and it was Kong Shadi who called him over. When Zhou Siyue arrived, he found out a thief had been targeting Ding Xian’s home, but the security guard had already caught him. Zhou Siyue’s mom, worried about Ding Xian’s safety, brought her home.

Later, her mom called to say her grandma’s condition had improved, easing Ding Xian’s worries. Since Ding Xian would be staying at Zhou Siyue’s house, she needed to buy some daily essentials. While shopping at the mall together, they ran into Jiang Chen and You Keke. Seeing them shopping for home goods, You Keke assumed they were living together and told Kong Shadi, causing Ding Xian to hurriedly clarify that it was just temporary.

Zhou Siyue’s mom was very fond of Ding Xian and even showed her childhood photos of Zhou Siyue, which embarrassed him greatly. The next day, he went to wake Ding Xian up, but she, being a late sleeper, was annoyed. On the way to school, she even refused to ride his bike. At school, Kong Shadi and the others asked her if it was bliss living next door to Zhou Siyue.

Ding Xian claimed it felt awkward, but her face was glowing with happiness. Back home, with no adults around, they had dinner together and were clearly very happy. After finishing her homework, Ding Xian wanted to watch TV, but Zhou Siyue refused to give her the remote. She tried to snatch it and was surprisingly aggressive—he wasn’t even her match. When they got home from school, they heard Zhou Siyue’s parents arguing.

His mom cried, saying his dad must be seeing someone else since he never came home. Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian were shocked. But when the parents saw the kids, they immediately put on smiling faces and acted harmonious, even offering to cook for them. Ding Xian knew Zhou Siyue must be upset and went to his room to comfort him, promising not to tell anyone. Every family has its issues.

Zhou Siyue admitted their family wasn’t as happy as it seemed. His mom, being unemployed, was constantly suspicious of his dad and would start fights at the slightest rumor. Zhou Siyue understood his mom’s vulnerability well, and he was determined not to let anyone he cared about suffer the same way. Song Ziqi came to class and told them that He Xingwen’s father had an accident at a construction site.

During class, the teacher also mentioned the crisis in He Xingwen’s family and asked everyone to donate. Although Kong Shadi and the others were angry about He Xingwen’s past behavior, they still donated. This made He Xingwen feel ashamed, and he apologized to Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue for his previous wrongdoings. Ding Xian believed that Zhou Siyue’s grades were good enough for him to get a recommendation to Huaqing University. That way, he and his dad could both work in Jiangling City. Zhou Siyue also believed Ding Xian could get into Huaqing.

Episode 13 Recap

Ding Xian was so thrilled because Zhou Siyue told her to aim for Jiangling City too, and she couldn’t stop smiling, even in her dreams. Sun Shadi could immediately tell Ding Xian was having a sweet dream, but Ding Xian stubbornly refused to admit it. After they got home, Zhou Siyue told Ding Xian to study hard. He would be going to a competition soon, so she should cherish the days he could still tutor her.

Just then, the power went out, and it started raining outside. The thunder scared Ding Xian, making her tremble. Zhou Siyue thoughtfully took out his headphones for her to listen to music. Ding Xian couldn’t hold it in anymore and confessed her wish was also to get into Jiangling City. Jiang Chen got into a fight with his parents because he hadn’t gotten into college and now planned to join the military.

Zhou Siyue advised his parents not to worry and said he would talk to Jiang Chen. Back home, Ding Xian admired how Zhou Siyue, though young, handled things with such maturity and could even persuade Jiang Chen’s parents. But Zhou Siyue was worried Ding Xian might slack off, so he dragged her to tutoring without giving her a chance to refuse, leaving her feeling helpless. Jiang Chen continued to pick up You Keke for school as usual.

You Keke wanted to apply to her dream university, while Jiang Chen said he was joining the military. You Keke was reluctant to part ways with Jiang Chen, so she invited him to a movie. Jiang Chen gave her his motorbike as a farewell gift. Zhou Siyue and the others went to play pool with Jiang Chen before he left.

Since Jiang Chen couldn’t beat Zhou Siyue, he challenged Ding Xian instead, but to his surprise, Ding Xian was even better — he didn’t even get a chance to touch the ball before the game was over. But what Jiang Chen cared about most was You Keke, hoping to hear something about her from the others.

When they walked out of the pool hall, they saw You Keke waiting outside on the motorbike, and the two went off to enjoy some romantic time together. Knowing Zhou Siyue was going to a competition, Ding Xian wanted to give him a meaningful gift — something like a good-luck charm, hoping he’d do well. The next day was the exam. Ding Xian overslept but quickly ran over to deliver the sachet she had hand-embroidered.

Zhou Siyue gently patted her head in thanks, though he teased her, saying he was absorbing her spiritual energy. Teacher Liu, who believed in Zhou Siyue’s potential, came to the school gate to cheer him on. Before entering, Zhou Siyue asked Liu to do him a favor, and Liu readily agreed. While tutoring Ding Xian, Zhou Siyue received a call from his mother saying something had happened at home and told Ding Xian to hurry back.

Once she got home, Ding Xian found out her grandmother had passed away. Naturally, she was heartbroken. Senior Su Baicong also returned to offer some comfort. While studying at home, Zhou Siyue overheard his parents arguing again. Even during the New Year, his father still insisted on going away, causing his mother to break down. Zhou Siyue couldn't bear to see it and went outside to talk to his dad.

Though he didn’t ask him to stay directly, he was quietly happy when he thought his dad might stay. But after some hesitation, his dad still left. Ding Xian’s home felt much lonelier without her grandma, so she called Zhou Siyue. Both were feeling down but lied, saying they were doing fine, hoping to cheer each other up. Soon, the new term began. Teacher Liu announced that Zhou Siyue had been directly admitted to Huaqing University.

Many students were envious and asked him to tutor them too, but Zhou Siyue instead asked Ding Xian to move back to sit next to him so he could help improve her grades. Ding Xian was happy but also sad, unsure if she could get into Jiangling City and continue being Zhou Siyue’s deskmate.

Episode 14 Recap

With Zhou Siyue’s help, Ding Xian’s grades improved significantly. Teacher Liu even praised her in class, motivating her even more. At a school-wide assembly, Zhou Siyue gave a speech sharing his efforts and goals with all the students, subtly hinting at his feelings for Ding Xian, hoping she wouldn’t give up and would persist to achieve what she wanted. Ding Xian soon finished her exams, but she wasn’t happy.

She had forgotten how to do many of the questions and felt very discouraged. She thought she’d be separated from Zhou Siyue soon, and even Sun Shadi and Song Ziqi would no longer be together. The two best friends went out for drinks to blow off steam, swearing to always remain friends. Drunk, Ding Xian mistook a trash can for Zhou Siyue and wouldn’t let go of it.

Song Ziqi and Zhou Siyue, knowing they had gone out, went looking for them. Song Ziqi took Sun Shadi home, and Zhou Siyue carried Ding Xian back. On the way, Ding Xian, half-conscious, admitted she didn’t want to be separated from him. Meanwhile, Sun Shadi cried to Song Ziqi, not wanting to be apart. They had grown up together and didn’t know how to live without each other.

Knowing they’d be separated after the summer, Sun Shadi confessed that she had always liked Song Ziqi. He agreed to be there for her whenever she needed him, and they kissed for the first time. Ding Xian got her results — 576 points. Although decent, it wasn’t enough for Jiangling City. Her mother suggested applying to a top university in Hangzhou, but Ding Xian wanted to repeat the year.

Based on her past performance, she believed she could do even better. Zhou Siyue’s mom talked to him about leaving for Jiangling City early, so he went to say goodbye to Ding Xian. She told him to wait for her at Huaqing; she would get in too. Zhou Siyue gave her a gift — the robot she liked before. Ding Xian named it Siyue (April), a homonym for Siyue.

On her first day repeating the year, Ding Xian’s father placed her in Mr. Wang’s class. She didn’t dare slack off. After missing out on Huaqing once, she had to work even harder to reach her dream university. Zhou Siyue went to his father’s city for school. He secretly visited his father’s workplace to learn more and found out his father was suspected of plagiarism.

After returning home, Zhou Siyue told his father and asked if he could tell his mother too, believing that only then could the suspicion between them truly be resolved. He hoped his father could let go of the burden and find peace. Zhou Siyue called Ding Xian every day, and they exchanged blessings. Ding Xian asked him to send her photos of Huaqing.

After hanging up, Zhou Siyue talked with his mom about returning to Shenhai City to see Ding Xian before school started. Ding Xian began to doubt the path of repeating the year. One of her female classmates had been repeating for three years without getting into her dream school. So, she confided in Su Baicong, saying she was exhausted. While they were talking on the roadside, Zhou Siyue happened to see them from behind.

Episode 15 Recap

Ding Xian increasingly questioned whether repeating was the right choice. Seeing older students still not make it after years of trying, she lost confidence. The person she wanted to follow was just too outstanding, and no matter how hard she tried, she felt she couldn’t catch up. She also worried people would suspect Zhou Siyue’s motives for being with her. Su Baicong comforted her, saying persistence was success and not to care about the result.

Zhou Siyue, who was behind them, overheard it all and quietly walked away. That night, Ding Xian messaged Zhou Siyue, saying she missed him. Zhou Siyue was standing downstairs looking at her window, but he didn’t disturb her. He knew she had always been trying so hard to keep up with him, and he didn’t want to make her more tired.

A student named Dong Zhengfei went to Professor Ye to recommend a website he designed, but the professor ignored him and went straight to find Zhou Siyue, asking him to manage the lab work. He also inquired about Zhou Siyue’s father’s plagiarism case. Dong Zhengfei felt deeply resentful and wanted revenge regarding Zhou Siyue’s father. Just then, Zhou Siyue received a message from Ding Xian but didn’t reply.

While Zhou Siyue was giving a university speech, many girls took an interest in him. One girl, Xing Lufei, approached him, wanting to start a relationship, but he showed little interest. A reporter came to the lab, and Xing Lufei followed Zhou Siyue there. When Zhou Siyue opened his computer, he saw that a website had posted an article accusing his father of academic fraud.

Many students were shocked — so Zhou Siyue’s father was the plagiarist professor, and Zhou Siyue only got into the school through his father’s connections. Skilled with computers, Zhou Siyue traced the article’s source and sent a message through the site’s backend, which landed in Dong Zhengfei’s inbox. Zhou Siyue confronted him, but Dong Zhengfei showed no remorse and even insulted Zhou Siyue, telling him not to follow in his father’s crooked path. Furious, Zhou Siyue punched him.

In the scuffle, Xing Lufei twisted her ankle, so Zhou Siyue had to take her to the infirmary. On the way, Ding Xian, who came to see Zhou Siyue, saw him helping Xing Lufei and felt heartbroken. On the way back, she cried all the way. Holding back her sadness, Ding Xian messaged Zhou Siyue telling him not to contact her anymore — she would focus on repeating the year.

Zhou Siyue got a demerit for the fight, while Ding Xian missed him dearly. The date predicted by the Mayan apocalypse was approaching. A radio host spoke about whether people would spend the end with their loved ones. Fireworks lit up the plaza, and Ding Xian couldn’t hold back her feelings anymore. She ran out to look for Zhou Siyue but only found the firework tube.

However, Zhou Siyue had left her a seal stamp, which inspired Ding Xian to work even harder to get into Huaqing and be with him. Since Zhou Siyue was not very social, several of his research group members defected to Dong Zhengfei’s team. But he didn’t mind. When school started, Ding Xian got into Huaqing. However, she no longer had Zhou Siyue’s contact information.

Zhou Siyue’s team members offered to help her out, but she declined and went straight to the boys' dorm with her luggage to find him. She was stopped by the dorm supervisor, so she shouted up to Zhou Siyue from outside, attracting a crowd. Zhou Siyue heard and rushed out to take her away. Ding Xian directly told him that she had held it in long enough and just wanted to say she liked him.

But Zhou Siyue acted indifferent, saying they each had their own lives now and shouldn’t disturb each other. Ding Xian handed him the robot he had given her, and Zhou Siyue walked away without hesitation, crushing her hope. It turned out Zhou Siyue’s father had fallen ill — he got the call while setting off fireworks for Ding Xian in the plaza.

After that, Zhou Siyue changed, feeling he didn’t even have the ability to protect his own family, let alone Ding Xian. Back at the dorm, the other girls knew about Ding Xian’s pursuit of Zhou Siyue and told her the next day was his robotics competition. So they decided to go watch it together. After returning home, Zhou Siyue opened Ding Xian’s robot, which contained an account.

On his computer, he logged into the account and found her diary — full of memories about their time together — bringing tears to his eyes. Zhou Siyue visited his father in the hospital. His mother told him to focus on his studies and not to delay plans for studying abroad. She also reminded him to take care of himself. Because of his father’s health, Zhou Siyue had been working part-time, and his mother told him not to overwork.

Ding Xian went to the robotics competition award ceremony looking for Zhou Siyue, but he didn’t win — Dong Zhengfei did. Zhou Siyue’s teammates were upset and left with him. Ding Xian couldn’t find him, so she introduced herself to Dong Zhengfei and asked him to help locate Zhou Siyue, but he refused.

Episode 16 Recap

Ding Xian saw Zhou Siyue on campus. Previously, Xing Lufei had asked Zhou Siyue to sign up for their anime group, but he refused to join. So Ding Xian proactively went to Xing Lufei to register, hoping to learn something about Zhou Siyue from them.

At that moment, one of her dormmates came to find her and told her to go to the Academic Affairs Office because she had been summoned by the school leadership for going to the boys’ dormitory to look for Zhou Siyue at the beginning of the semester. As she stepped out the door, she ran into Zhou Siyue. They chatted briefly before he hurried off.

Ding Xian thought she could see Zhou Siyue at a dinner gathering with upperclassmen, but it turned out only Dong Zhengfei's group was there. Later, Dong Zhengfei proposed playing Truth or Dare and asked Ding Xian to talk about her pursuit of Zhou Siyue. Ding Xian casually said a few words, then went to sing for them. Just then, Zhou Siyue arrived—but he was there as a temporary staff worker.

While Ding Xian was singing, Zhou Siyue came in, which made her feel uneasy. Dong Zhengfei, knowing Zhou Siyue worked there part-time, pretended not to know and deliberately called a waiter to place an order, intending to embarrass Zhou Siyue in front of everyone. However, Zhou Siyue didn’t feel ashamed of working to support himself. After everyone left, Ding Xian went to the kitchen to find Zhou Siyue, trying to learn if something had happened to his family.

But Zhou Siyue told her not to waste time on him, as they both had their own lives now. Disappointed, Ding Xian turned to leave. Just then, the manager called Zhou Siyue over and told him he had been reported by Dong Zhengfei's group, who had just spent ten thousand yuan on a membership. The manager asked Zhou Siyue to find another job. Zhou Siyue used his salary to pay the hospital for his mother.

Because his father was hospitalized, the family was struggling financially, and everything depended on Zhou Siyue’s part-time jobs. His mother was deeply distressed. After secretly following Zhou Siyue, Ding Xian learned about his father's situation and went to talk with him, hoping he wouldn’t give up on everything they had because of it. But Zhou Siyue refused to acknowledge they had ever been in love and claimed he had only ever seen her as a best friend.

Ding Xian didn’t believe him and told him to think it through. On her way back to the dorm, she was in a foul mood and kicked over a trash can, which was secretly recorded by someone following her. Ding Xian called Kong Shadi to vent, saying vows of eternal love were all fake. Kong Shadi was also upset because Song Ziqi had disappeared without a word.

Kong Shadi came up with an idea that could help Ding Xian and also bring Song Ziqi back. When Zhou Siyue returned to the dorm, he saw Song Ziqi standing at the door with luggage. It turned out Song Ziqi had been given a demerit for fighting and had broken up with Kong Shadi. Ding Xian asked one of Zhou Siyue’s classmates to help invite him to a group dinner.

They went to the new restaurant where Zhou Siyue worked and brought him a gift. Zhou Siyue immediately knew it was handmade by Ding Xian and stepped out. Not far behind Ding Xian, a male student was secretly taking pictures of her, which Zhou Siyue noticed. He removed the memory card from the camera and told the guy not to show up again.

Zhou Siyue warned Ding Xian to be careful—her photos were all over the school’s forum, and something worse could happen. Ding Xian asked Zhou Siyue to walk her home. On the way, she pressed him to be honest with her, but Zhou Siyue told her he was going abroad next month, which left Ding Xian utterly devastated. When they got back, Song Ziqi blamed Zhou Siyue for how he treated Ding Xian.

After all, she had repeated a year just to get into Huaqing for him. But Zhou Siyue lashed out at Song Ziqi, saying he wasn’t qualified to talk about love with Ding Xian. Song Ziqi got very angry and swore not to get involved in their affairs anymore. Ding Xian once again went to Zhou Siyue and confessed she didn’t believe what he said the night before.

No matter how many times he rejected her, she wouldn’t give up, because they both truly loved each other. Knowing that Zhou Siyue was going abroad, Ding Xian also wanted to join the experimental research group so she could go with him. They had already missed out on so much, and she didn’t want Zhou Siyue to face things alone anymore. She decisively signed up for the group's pre-selection.

Zhou Siyue later caught up to her and clearly told her she might lose a lot by doing this, and it wasn't something she even liked. But to Ding Xian, being with the person she loved made anything worth doing.

Episode 17 Recap

The editor-in-chief saw Ding Xian's comic and was very impressed, encouraging her to enter a competition. Ding Xian went to eat at the restaurant where Zhou Siyue worked, just to catch another glimpse of him. Zhou Siyue handed her a test sheet—it was related to the lab, and Ding Xian knew that although Zhou Siyue appeared indifferent, he still cared about her.

Zhou Siyue prepared a complete experimental topic for freshmen, intending to give it to Ding Xian once she joined the group. Yuan Fang, another member, took it to give to a new freshman girl, who happened to be Ding Xian's roommate, and the material eventually ended up in Ding Xian’s hands. This had been Zhou Siyue’s plan all along—he didn’t want to hand it to her personally, so he asked Yuan Fang to do it.

Ding Xian immediately guessed it was from Zhou Siyue and brought it back to ask if it was his, hoping he would admit it. But Zhou Siyue didn’t, leaving Ding Xian to doubt herself. Ding Xian was admitted into the research group. Professor Ye thought she was excellent and asked Zhou Siyue to mentor her. But Zhou Siyue warned her not to slack off—if her project failed, she wouldn’t be able to go abroad.

He asked her to consider it seriously. But Ding Xian insisted that if Zhou Siyue liked it, she would too. Professor Ye arranged for Dong Zhengfei to introduce the new students to the group. He told them they must be passionate about experiments, or they’d be ruining their own futures. But Ding Xian, eager to be near Zhou Siyue, didn’t care whether she liked it or not—he was her greatest motivation. Professor Ye gave Ding Xian a problem to solve.

If she could figure it out, she would get a direct spot to go abroad without needing to pass other tests. Ding Xian began working day and night on it, which made Zhou Siyue feel distressed—he thought the professor was being too hard on her. Even seniors might not be able to solve the problem.

Yuan Fang felt sorry for her and took the test to Dong Zhengfei, but when Dong found out Ding Xian was only doing it to go abroad with Zhou Siyue, he refused to help. Ding Xian went to Zhou Siyue and asked him to open Professor Ye’s test paper again. Though he refused at first, Ding Xian sweetly coaxed him, and he ended up staying to help.

While Zhou Siyue worked on the problem, Ding Xian picked up her sketchbook and started drawing him. Seeing her talent made Zhou Siyue feel guilty—he wanted her to pursue her passion instead of giving it up for him. But Ding Xian was willing to persist for the one she loved. When Zhou Siyue returned home, the lab experienced a sudden power outage. Ding Xian was still there, doing her experiment.

Knowing she was afraid of the dark, Zhou Siyue hurried back. In the pitch-black room, the two bumped into each other, and he held her—almost kissing her. Zhou Siyue eventually solved the problem and gave it to Professor Ye. He praised Ding Xian highly. But Zhou Siyue had used the same method to solve it too, hoping she’d reconsider—going abroad might suit him better.

Later, Dong Zhengfei went to provoke Ding Xian, saying she was willing to give up her passion for Zhou Siyue, while Zhou Siyue wouldn’t give up going abroad for her. Worse, it was Zhou Siyue who asked the professor to persuade her to give up. Ding Xian pretended not to care, but deep down, she was hurt. Xing Lufei went to tell Zhou Siyue she was participating in the debate contest.

She found a box of chocolates on his desk and ate one, which made Zhou Siyue very angry. Xing Lufei didn’t understand why he reacted like that and left upset. Back in the dorm, she claimed the chocolates were from Zhou Siyue, which made Ding Xian very sad.

Episode 18 Recap

Ding Xian was angry at Zhou Siyue because of what Dong Zhengfei had said. Now he had even given away the chocolate she gave him—something meant to represent love. She went to confront him. Zhou Siyue said Xing Lufei had taken it herself, but Ding Xian didn’t believe him. All along, she had been working hard to be with him, yet not only did he stop her from going abroad, he even gave her love token to someone else. Zhou Siyue told her not to always think about him and to consider her own future. But to Ding Xian, it seemed like he was just trying to push her away, and she ran off heartbroken. Song Ziqi saw this and told Zhou Siyue to explain things clearly. But Zhou Siyue thought Ding Xian would only truly find herself if she left him.

Heartbroken, Ding Xian went to clear her mind and called Su Baicong. The two of them drove to an art exhibition. Knowing Ding Xian loved painting, Su Baicong encouraged her to stay true to herself and not just follow anyone blindly.

The next day, Ding Xian didn’t show up at the lab. Professor Ye wasn’t pleased, so Zhou Siyue had to say she wasn’t feeling well and asked for leave on her behalf. Ding Xian wandered alone and called her parents, crying uncontrollably during the call. Her parents thought she had a cold and told her to keep warm. After hanging up, Ding Xian cried even harder—no one understood her feelings right now. Su Baicong, ever warm-hearted, drove to find her, silently vowing never to let her be hurt again.

Kong Shadi dragged her suitcase to find Song Ziqi. She called Zhou Siyue and told him to come out and meet her or she wouldn’t leave. Song Ziqi told Zhou Siyue not to reveal where he was, so Zhou Siyue met Kong Shadi at the door and said he hadn’t seen Song Ziqi. But Kong Shadi knew Song Ziqi was there and asked Zhou Siyue to tell him she really cared. She said if Ding Xian ever disappeared too, Zhou Siyue would be just as heartbroken.

Ding Xian wanted to enter an art competition and went to find the editor Sun Yuanxiang, who had high hopes for her before. She asked if there was any way she could still join, even though the registration had closed. Sun Yuanxiang said she would go discuss it and told Ding Xian to wait. Afterward, Ding Xian met up with Kong Shadi and told her everything about what happened between her and Zhou Siyue. Kong Shadi was disappointed—the couple she had always rooted for now seemed like strangers.

Ding Xian received a call from Sun Yuanxiang saying she could sign a contract. Overjoyed, she rushed to the company to sign it.

Su Baicong called Xing Lufei to ask them out for a meal and hoped she would bring other classmates too—his real goal was to get Ding Xian to join. Zhou Siyue also heard about the dinner and decided to go. During the gathering, Xing Lufei took out the box of chocolates and returned them to Zhou Siyue, saying she had eaten them by accident last time. Only then did Ding Xian realize she had misunderstood him. Su Baicong had now started his own company and was investing in Ding Xian’s group, which was why he had invited them. Xing Lufei, seeing Su Baicong liked Ding Xian, tried to match them up. Feeling uncomfortable, Zhou Siyue left. Su Baicong followed him out and told him to give up on Ding Xian—he was more capable of making her happy now. But Zhou Siyue told Su Baicong that Ding Xian would always be with him and told him not to even think about it. Neither of them expected Ding Xian to overhear their conversation. Angry, she stormed off. Zhou Siyue chased after her to explain, but she didn’t give him the chance and told him to stop interfering with her future—they had nothing to do with each other anymore.

Though Zhou Siyue said he couldn’t live without Ding Xian, she no longer trusted him, leaving him heartbroken. Back at the dorm, he asked Song Ziqi what he would do if Kong Shadi were gone. Song Ziqi didn’t know how to answer.

Ding Xian called Kong Shadi and told her it was really over between her and Zhou Siyue. She had made up her mind to focus fully on her studies. Back at the dorm, she saw the gift Su Baicong had given her. His quiet care, while trying to stay close to her, gave her some comfort.

Song Ziqi ran into Kong Shadi at the library and fled in panic. Kong Shadi called Ding Xian for help, asking her to follow Zhou Siyue—she was sure that would lead them to Song Ziqi. In the school hallway, the two of them overheard Zhou Siyue calling Song Ziqi, discussing how Kong Shadi had found out, so they hurried back to the residence.

Episode 19 Recap

Ding Xian and Kong Shadi followed Zhou Siyue’s trail and found where they were staying. Kong Shadi grabbed Song Ziqi and gave him a beating, then told Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian to leave—she wanted to have a good talk with Song Ziqi. Kong Shadi felt very wronged that Song Ziqi was ignoring her.

He was the one who had insisted on being with her in the first place, but now that he was expelled, he had become a coward and lacked courage. Song Ziqi was helpless in the face of Kong Shadi’s scolding and hitting. He told her she should just go back. He really didn’t know how to take care of her anymore and gave her some money as a way of repaying her for being his girlfriend.

That enraged Kong Shadi, who ran out of the room crying. The more Song Ziqi thought about it, the more he regretted how he treated Kong Shadi, so he hurried out to chase after her. Just then, a car hit a girl right in front of him. Frightened, Song Ziqi ran over—only to realize it wasn’t Kong Shadi. At that moment, Kong Shadi also arrived. Song Ziqi regretted how he treated her.

If one day she really disappeared, he wouldn't be able to face that. He hugged Kong Shadi and apologized, promising that no matter what happened in the future, he would never let go of her hand again. Song Ziqi and Kong Shadi finally made up. They said goodbye to Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian and returned to school. Meanwhile, Zhou Siyue was thinking to himself—if one day Ding Xian suddenly disappeared, would he be able to accept it?

But for now, Zhou Siyue still didn’t have the courage to be with Ding Xian. Zhou Siyue went to the hospital to visit his father, whose condition had improved a lot. His father felt Zhou Siyue should get along well with Ding Xian—they both liked her. He also told Zhou Siyue that he felt guilty toward his mother. He had always underestimated her, and only after falling ill did he realize how important she was.

Zhou Siyue’s mother, who overheard this at the door, was deeply moved. Both parents hoped Zhou Siyue would take responsibility for his own life and not worry too much about the older generation’s matters. Zhou Siyue decided to win Ding Xian back and asked team member Yuan Fang for help. He even specially sought out Kong Shadi and Song Ziqi for advice.

Later, Yuan Fang invited Zhou Siyue to hang out with the anime club so that he could have a chance to confess to Ding Xian. They took a car to Su Bocong’s company—the robotics competition this time was sponsored by his company. Su Bocong personally came out to welcome Ding Xian. Xing Lufei also knew Su Bocong but didn’t expect Ding Xian to be even more familiar with him.

As Su Bocong helped carry Ding Xian’s suitcase, Zhou Siyue got out of the car and rudely remarked that it was typical of Su Bocong’s company to stick its nose into every field. Ding Xian took her suitcase and went inside on her own. Su Bocong wasn’t discouraged and caught up with her, telling her his room number. Just then, Dong Zhengfei saw Su Bocong and quickly went over to greet him, hoping for some attention.

But Su Bocong wasn’t interested, left his phone number, and left in a hurry. Zhou Siyue asked Ding Xian if she had time and wanted to ask her out, but Ding Xian, still angry, told him she was never free. Zhou Siyue didn’t back down and chased after her, saying everything he did was for her own good.

He had heard the things she said to Su Bocong and was afraid she would feel too wronged because of him—he didn’t want her to sacrifice herself for his sake. Ding Xian told Zhou Siyue that no matter how much hardship he carried, she wasn’t afraid, because she liked him. But Zhou Siyue still didn’t understand what true love really meant. At that moment, Xing Lufei came over. Ding Xian didn’t say much and went into her room.

Xing Lufei could tell Zhou Siyue was pursuing Ding Xian and wasn’t happy about it. But Zhou Siyue directly told Xing Lufei that he liked Ding Xian, which made Xing Lufei even more upset. Ding Xian had agreed with Lou Feng and Yuan Fang to separately invite Zhou Siyue and herself out.

So she went to the amusement park to meet Lou Feng, but Lou Feng didn’t come—Zhou Siyue showed up instead and invited her to play in the maze with him. On the way, some girls saw Zhou Siyue was handsome and asked for his contact info, but he firmly refused and said he already had a girlfriend. That made Ding Xian secretly happy. But the amusement park turned out to be a children’s play area.

Zhou Siyue teased Ding Xian, saying she wouldn’t dare to go in. Ding Xian, not one to admit defeat, entered. They played in the maze for a long time, and in the end, Ding Xian got out first. Zhou Siyue, unwilling to lose, challenged her to other games, and the two had a blast competing. On the way back, it started raining.

Zhou Siyue took off his jacket and gave it to Ding Xian, then went to the store to buy her a hot drink. Ding Xian told Zhou Siyue that this was the second time they’d been caught in the rain together—the first time was during the 2012 end-of-the-world scare, and it was Zhou Siyue who had set off the fireworks back then. The two shared a deep kiss.

Episode 20 Recap

Ding Xian suddenly felt she shouldn’t have done that and quickly ran off. After returning to the hotel, Zhou Siyue invited Ding Xian to watch their robotics competition. But Ding Xian told him not to push things too far—this outing with him had just been an accident. At that moment, Su Bocong came over. He had been looking for Ding Xian and wanted to discuss work matters.

Just as Su Bocong and Ding Xian sat down in a café, Zhou Siyue came too and sat beside them, eavesdropping on their conversation. Later, both Zhou Siyue and Su Bocong wanted to walk Ding Xian back to her room. Zhou Siyue asked Su Bocong to leave so he could talk to Ding Xian alone.

Zhou Siyue didn’t really like Su Bocong as a person, but he admitted that Su Bocong’s advice was good and told Ding Xian not to miss such opportunities. The next day, the anime convention needed to load up items. Xing Lufei told Ding Xian and the others to help. She deliberately left Ding Xian’s phone in the truck so the driver would leave with it, ensuring Ding Xian wouldn’t make it to Zhou Siyue’s robotics competition in time.

Just as everything was being taken to the venue, Xing Lufei locked Ding Xian in the restroom so she couldn’t get out. Zhou Siyue kept waiting for Ding Xian—if she didn’t show up, there would be no point to the competition. He only presented one product and refused to show the others unless Ding Xian arrived. After the competition, Zhou Siyue went to find Ding Xian at the anime convention and found her stuck in the restroom, helpless.

He kicked the door open and rescued her. Then he told her that even if he won first place in the robotics competition, the thing he wanted most was to pursue her. Just as Zhou Siyue was confessing to Ding Xian, they were discovered by security and taken to the security office for questioning. Su Bocong showed up and got them released.

On the way back, Su Bocong wanted to take Ding Xian out, so Zhou Siyue and Su Bocong entered a competition for her affection—both saw the other as a rival. Ding Xian, stuck in the middle, was helpless. The next day, Su Bocong and Zhou Siyue continued their contest over Ding Xian, even racing to buy her juice. Ding Xian was even more distressed, surprised that the two men could be so childish and ridiculous.

After returning, Ding Xian’s roommate Lou Feng expressed hope that she would be with Zhou Siyue, even though Su Bocong was also excellent. But Ding Xian felt that even if Zhou Siyue confessed to her, she wouldn’t agree so easily, because she had liked him for so long and didn’t want to accept him without careful thought.

Xing Lufei approached Su Bocong, proposing they join forces—Su Bocong could get Ding Xian, and she could be admitted to the hospital to be with Zhou Siyue. Su Bocong invited Zhou Siyue to treat everyone to dinner. During the meal, Xing Lufei suggested playing a game: draw a card and ask the corresponding person a question. When Zhou Siyue drew his card, he asked Xing Lufei if she had done anything bad recently.

Xing Lufei was embarrassed and quickly defended herself, saying Zhou Siyue was still holding a grudge about the chocolate she took. Ding Xian was confused by Zhou Siyue’s question and messaged him, scolding him. Zhou Siyue told her he suspected it was Xing Lufei who locked her in the restroom. In the next round, it was Xing Lufei’s turn to ask. She said the people who drew cards 4 and 5 had to kiss.

Ding Xian got number 4, and Su Bocong got number 5—clearly a setup by Xing Lufei. Zhou Siyue, seeing Ding Xian in a tough spot, secretly swapped cards and ended up with number 4 himself, preventing Xing Lufei and Su Bocong’s scheme from succeeding. After dinner, Su Bocong talked to Zhou Siyue, hoping he would give up on Ding Xian.

After all, he believed he could give Ding Xian a better life, and that she would be more compatible with him in the future. At the robotics competition, Zhou Siyue won first place. When he went on stage, the microphone cut out. Just as the moment was getting awkward, his middle school classmate Liu Xiaofeng came over and handed him another mic.

Afterwards, Zhou Siyue learned that Liu Xiaofeng was also in the competition, and that it was because of something Zhou Siyue had once said that Liu Xiaofeng had the confidence to get into the University of Science and Technology. Previously, Liu Xiaofeng had no self-confidence, but Zhou Siyue’s encouragement changed that. Su Bocong took Ding Xian to sign a contract and gave her a necklace as an accessory.

When they met with an investor, Chairman Zhang asked her to rewrite her work into a love story. Ding Xian was unwilling and walked away. Su Bocong chased after her, telling her she needed to adapt to society—that’s what she would eventually have to face.

Episode 21 Recap

Ding Xian was persuaded by Su Bocong to return and renegotiate with Director Zhang. Director Zhang assumed Ding Xian had changed her mind and shared his full vision with her. But the more Ding Xian listened, the more she disagreed and ultimately rejected him outright. Director Zhang thought Ding Xian was being ungrateful—she had previously agreed to sign the contract, and now she was going back on her word.

Since their company only signed popular figures, this could affect their reputation if it got out. At that moment, Zhou Siyue arrived and told Director Zhang that the work in question was based on Ding Xian herself and was not suited for commercial exploitation. With that, he took Ding Xian away. In the lobby, Zhou Siyue bought Ding Xian a pair of flat shoes to change into.

Su Bocong chased after them, thinking Ding Xian wanted to become a business elite like him. But Ding Xian told Su Bocong she only wanted to become the person she aspired to be. Then she returned the necklace to Su Bocong and left with Zhou Siyue. Zhou Siyue confessed his love to Ding Xian again and said he wanted to stay with her forever. Ding Xian told him never to give up on her again, because it would really hurt.

Zhou Siyue promised that no matter what happened in the future, he would always stay by her side. On the way back, Xing Lufei saw Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian together and was jealous. She told Ding Xian to write the report for the anime expo. Yuan Fang overheard and sarcastically mocked Dong Zhengfei for Xing Lufei to hear, saying that even the team leader wasn't writing the report. A leader who doesn’t do their job is shameless.

Xing Lufei turned pale with anger when she heard that. After getting off the bus, she chased after Zhou Siyue, asking him to have dinner and accept her love. But Zhou Siyue told her to stop following him—Ding Xian was better than her in every way. He even showed her the surveillance footage from the competition, revealing that she was the one who had locked Ding Xian in the bathroom that day, leaving her speechless.

Professor Ye approached Zhou Siyue, saying that people from Honghuang Tech wanted to collaborate with him. Dong Zhengfei also encouraged Zhou Siyue to accept the deal. But Zhou Siyue was unwilling—he felt that as sophomore students, they didn't have the capability yet, and the company only wanted to buy out their research. Dong Zhengfei told Professor Ye to consider it carefully—if Zhou Siyue declined, he could still work with them.

Professor Ye acknowledged both perspectives and said he needed time to think it over. Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue spent sweet days dating. Su Bocong came by one day, and Zhou Siyue asked Ding Xian to leave so he could talk with Su Bocong. Surprisingly, Su Bocong wanted to discuss robots. He had been sent by someone to uncover what Hongguang Tech was really up to and gave Zhou Siyue a book of evidence showing who had framed his father.

If Zhou Siyue agreed to cooperate, they could clear his father’s name. But Zhou Siyue refused—he wouldn’t do anything illegal. Su Bocong warned him that just because he wouldn’t do it now didn’t mean he wouldn’t in the future. He also said that even if Ding Xian was with Zhou Siyue now, that didn’t mean she would always love him. Zhou Siyue visited his father in the hospital, feeling guilty.

His father told him never to do anything he would regret and to live without regrets. Back home, Zhou Siyue transferred a red packet to Ding Xian and asked if she would still like him if he turned bad one day. Just then, Ding Xian received a call saying that there was a problem with the novel adapted from her comic. Su Bocong also saw the online news—Ding Xian's comic was suspected of plagiarism.

Ding Xian called Mr. Sun to meet. Mr. Sun admitted he hadn’t clearly explained the copyright terms and showed her a contract that clearly stated if the copyright expired and it was still published, it would be considered plagiarism. He insisted Ding Xian and the publisher share the risk. Ding Xian realized she had been set up—she only received a small portion of the manuscript fee but had to take on half the risk. Society was truly cruel.

Zhou Siyue comforted her, saying she was just getting started and would adapt over time. He encouraged her to find evidence that the publisher had misled her, which might help change the situation. Afterward, Zhou Siyue called Professor Ye, hoping to meet with Director Chen of Hongguang Tech. Zhou Siyue straightforwardly told Director Chen that he was only willing to cooperate if he got paid. He demanded 500,000 yuan. Director Chen told him to wait for further notice.

Ding Xian received a call saying the money for the plagiarism claim had been paid by a gentleman. Upon hearing the name, she went to find Su Bocong, who was already drunk when she arrived. She called a cab to take him home. After getting him to his room, Su Bocong grabbed her and pinned her to the bed, confessing his feelings for her. But Ding Xian told him she already had Zhou Siyue.

Feeling defeated, Su Bocong let her go. Ding Xian, feeling wronged, ran back to Zhou Siyue and hugged him tightly the moment he opened the door. The next day, Zhou Siyue went to Su Bocong’s office and handed him a card—the money he had paid back on Ding Xian’s behalf. He warned Su Bocong not to bother her again, or he wouldn’t be so polite next time.

Episode 22 Recap

Ding Xian also returned the 500,000 yuan to Zhou Siyue. It turned out she had joined forces with other deceived authors to sue Dream Trip and received compensation, so the money was returned. The author of Shadowlike was very interested in Ding Xian’s work and wanted to collaborate. Not only did they drop the plagiarism claim, but they also offered to work together—truly a string of good fortune.

Ding Xian even planned to turn her love story with Zhou Siyue into a comic for everyone to see. During the holidays, Ding Xian took Zhou Siyue home with her. Her parents were surprised to see Zhou Siyue but delighted that he was coming to spend the New Year with them. They really liked him and prepared a lavish meal to welcome them.

During dinner, her mother told Zhou Siyue to keep an eye on Ding Xian and not let her focus too much on romance. Later, Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian discussed coming clean with her family. Just then, her mom saw a picture of a girl in early puppy love on Ding Juncong’s phone. The mothers threatened to beat him, and the frightened teen quickly begged Zhou Siyue for help, even calling him “brother-in-law,” which made Zhou Siyue very happy.

He agreed to tutor Ding Juncong so that his grades wouldn’t drop because of young love. Zhou Siyue wanted to return to his place in Deep Sea City, so he and Ding Xian went to clean up the apartment. While they were hugging, Ding Xian’s mom arrived to deliver some bedding. The two quickly pulled apart. After returning home, her mom sensed something was off and called Ding Juncong over for answers.

Under pressure, Ding Juncong admitted everything—Zhou Siyue was Ding Xian’s sweetheart. Her mom was shocked. Her dad, upon learning they were dating, warned Ding Xian to be prepared for her mom’s reaction. He approved of Zhou Siyue but suggested she win over her mom first. The next day, her mom’s attitude changed—she prepared only a simple breakfast with not even a single vegetable. Her dad and brother sensed trouble and quickly fled.

Her mom demanded they come clean, so Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian confessed. Her mom was angry that Ding Xian didn’t tell her sooner, especially since Zhou Siyue was such an outstanding young man. Hearing this, both of them were thrilled. They hadn’t expected her to approve of their relationship. Zhou Siyue was about to go home for the New Year. Ding Xian went to see him off, reluctant to part. She hugged him tightly, unwilling to let go.

After Zhou Siyue returned home, his mom told him that his father’s condition was not stable, which made him very worried. Kong Shadi and Song Ziqi went to visit Ding Xian. Unexpectedly, Jiang Chen and You Keke came along too. The group chatted about their current love lives. Upon learning that Ding Xian and Zhou Siyue had only kissed so far, they were surprised.

They felt Zhou Siyue must still see Ding Xian as a child and told her to be more assertive. So the next day, Ding Xian tried to act more flirtatious in front of Zhou Siyue, hoping he would see her as a grown woman. But Zhou Siyue didn’t react at all, leaving her disappointed. Back in the dorm, her roommates assumed something would have happened between her and Zhou Siyue, but everything was still the same.

They decided to give her a makeover and dressed her up like a mature woman. When Zhou Siyue saw her, he told her to take care of her health and not to dress too lightly, or she might get arthritis. This made Ding Xian even more disappointed. Zhou Siyue quickly caught up to her and explained he was only teasing. He kissed her, and they finally entered a more mature phase in their relationship. They played until late before returning.

Zhou Siyue walked Ding Xian to her dorm, reluctant to say goodbye. But fate had its way—the dorm was already locked. So Zhou Siyue took Ding Xian back to his apartment for the night.

Episode 23 Recap

Ding Xian blamed Zhou Siyue for joining Hongguang Tech without discussing it with her first, believing it wouldn’t benefit his future. But Zhou Siyue didn’t mind, as long as it was good for Ding Xian. That night, they agreed to sleep on separate sides of the bed, but neither could fall asleep. Zhou Siyue couldn’t help but reach out and hold Ding Xian’s hand, and Ding Xian responded by nestling into his embrace, eventually falling asleep peacefully.

The next day, Ding Xian’s roommates interrogated her, wanting to know what stage their relationship had reached. To their surprise, nothing had happened between them, which left the roommates disappointed, feeling their efforts to transform Ding Xian had been wasted. Just then, Ding Xian received a call saying that Zhou Siyue had been arrested by the police because Hongguang Tech was suspected of leaking secrets. The news quickly made headlines. When Zhou Siyue’s father found out, his condition suddenly worsened.

Ding Xian’s parents also called to check on her, telling her not to worry, or Zhou Siyue wouldn’t be at ease. President Ma told Su Bocong to make sure Zhou Siyue didn’t speak out about what he knew. At that moment, Ding Xian went to find Su Bocong and asked for his help. Unexpectedly, she saw many of the company’s collaboration projects with Huaqing on his desk.

That made Ding Xian instantly realize that Zhou Siyue had been set up by them. Ding Xian went to the hospital to visit Zhou Siyue’s father. Professor Ye told her that Zhou Siyue was the prime suspect since he was the only one who had contact with people from Chima Tech.

When Zhou Siyue was taken away, he had left a note for Professor Ye to give to Ding Xian, in which he comforted her and asked her to trust him. Zhou Siyue’s father’s surgery went well — a small piece of good news in an unfortunate situation. Professor Ye also hired a lawyer for Zhou Siyue, hoping to secure bail with strong evidence.

Su Bocong blamed President Ma, saying he shouldn’t have chosen Hongguang Tech over Zhou Siyue in the first place. He insisted they should hire the best lawyer — that would be their trump card. Zhou Siyue was released on bail and immediately called Ding Xian to come back. When she returned home, she saw Zhou Siyue asleep on the couch from exhaustion and didn’t want to disturb him. But Zhou Siyue sensed her presence, got up, and hugged her tightly.

Although they’d only been apart a few days, it felt like years. Zhou Siyue apologized, saying he had wanted to protect Ding Xian, but instead made her worry about him. Zhou Siyue told the lawyer that the people from Chima Tech were desperate to get him out because he knew too many of their secrets. The lawyer asked him to think carefully about who hated him enough to want to see him imprisoned.

Seeing Ding Xian getting ready to go out, Zhou Siyue assumed she was going to see Su Bocong and felt a little upset. Ding Xian reassured him she wouldn’t be meeting Su Bocong again. She also told Zhou Siyue that Dong Zhengfei had already signed with Chima Tech, confirming Zhou Siyue’s suspicion that Dong Zhengfei was behind all of it. Now, they were just waiting for him to show up.

Zhou Siyue used a string of code to lure Dong Zhengfei to the lab — if he didn’t come, his computer would be hacked. Zhou Siyue told him that what he was doing was illegal and he wouldn’t participate in it. Zhou Siyue explained that Professor Ye had applied for two overseas spots, so there was no competition between them.

Hearing this, Dong Zhengfei realized everything was over but still agreed to teach Zhou Siyue a few programming tricks — a sort of reconciliation and collaboration between the two. Su Bocong went to see President Ma, signaling the end of their cooperation. Then he went to find Ding Xian, and they reminisced about their childhood. Back then, they were innocent and pure-hearted. Su Bocong regretted not being able to stay true to himself and ending up like this.

But Ding Xian didn’t think he was a bad person — to her, he was still the good senior who had always helped her and could still return to who he used to be. Su Bocong gave Ding Xian a file and asked her to pass it to Zhou Siyue. Zhou Siyue’s father was discharged soon after, and their family moved back to Shenhail City.

Ding Xian stood upstairs waving at them, which reminded Zhou Siyue of the time Ding Xian’s family first moved to Shenhail — back then, it was him upstairs looking down at her. The roles were now reversed, but the scene remained the same. As they were moving in, Ding Xian’s parents also came to help, making the two families look harmonious and close.

Ding Xian saw a photo of You Keke injured but wearing a ring — it turned out Jiang Chen had proposed to her, making them the first among their friends to get engaged. This made Kong Shadi and Ding Xian envious, hoping their own Prince Charming would propose soon. Zhou Siyue took Ding Xian back to their high school to relive old memories and also wanted to introduce her to his parents.

This made Ding Xian a bit nervous, fearing they might think she wasn’t good enough for Zhou Siyue. But Zhou Siyue told her not to overthink — she was so outstanding that he might not even be worthy of her. Ding Xian’s mom chatted with Zhou Siyue’s mom and mentioned that Ding Xian now had a boyfriend.

Zhou Siyue’s mom was surprised and assumed that since Ding Xian already had a boyfriend, the childhood engagement arranged by the grandfather was no longer valid. She suggested to Ding Xian’s mom that they cancel the engagement. When Zhou Siyue overheard this, he told Ding Xian, making her heart anxious again.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Zhou Siyue took Ding Xian out to help her relax, told her not to worry, and then took out a diamond ring to propose. He hoped she would accompany him for the rest of his life. Ding Xian was deeply moved by Zhou Siyue’s gesture and accepted his proposal. Later, Zhou Siyue’s and Ding Xian’s mothers realized the misunderstanding was due to both worrying that their child wouldn't be accepted by the other’s family.

Now that the two were together, the parents happily called each other in-laws. Zhou Siyue went to eat with Ding Xian, but she was upset with him for giving up his opportunity to go abroad. She didn’t want him to give up his academic dreams for her since it was his biggest wish. Zhou Siyue had given it up because he couldn’t bear to leave her.

But Ding Xian wanted him to have a brighter future so they could enjoy life together in the long run. Song Ziqi and Yuan Fang drank together in their rental apartment to see Zhou Siyue off. Knowing he was going abroad, they were reluctant to let him go. Song Ziqi got a little drunk and, with years of friendship behind them, cried like a mess, but still wished him well, believing he would become the person he wanted to be.

After saying goodbye to his two best buddies, Zhou Siyue told Ding Xian he truly didn’t want to leave, but she encouraged him — she would wait for his return, and they would make it through. After Zhou Siyue left, Ding Xian felt an emptiness. Everything in the room reminded her of him — except he was no longer by her side. The two of them began a long-distance relationship. Though separated by distance, their hearts remained closely connected.

They video-called every day, and their love didn’t fade at all. Graduation season came quickly. Ding Xian, as the top student, gave a speech. Their four years of college were filled with unforgettable people and moments. While Ding Xian was filming a farewell video with her roommates, Zhou Siyue suddenly appeared on camera, and her roommates quickly recorded their emotional reunion and kiss.

Back home, Ding Xian found that Zhou Siyue had kept every gift she ever gave him, all perfectly preserved. She was deeply moved. Zhou Siyue told her that without her, life would be meaningless. He had liked her ever since the first time he saw her, and he took out a diamond ring to propose. Ding Xian was even more touched this time and accepted, though she didn’t say “yes” aloud. Zhou Siyue insisted on hearing her say it.

Touched by his sincerity, Ding Xian said she was absolutely willing to marry Zhou Siyue — and that would never change. Zhou Siyue and Song Ziqi brought their brides to visit their high school teacher, Mr. Liu. There, Ding Xian learned something she didn’t know before: Zhou Siyue had once requested to switch to humanities to be in her class. The teachers had firmly rejected his request. Now, they finally understood he had done it for her.

Afterward, when Zhou Siyue and Ding Xian went outside, they ran into Su Bocong. Kong Shadi told Ding Xian to leave with her — the men should settle their matters themselves. Zhou Siyue and Su Bocong went to the basketball court. Though Su Bocong had lost to Zhou Siyue in love, he wanted to win on the court. He told Zhou Siyue to treat Ding Xian well.

Zhou Siyue didn’t need that reminder — treating Ding Xian well was a given. He told Su Bocong not to worry. At their high school’s ten-year reunion, Zhou Siyue gave a speech and shared their love story. For him, Ding Xian had always been the truth he believed in. Their classmates were all envious of their relationship. Zhou Siyue took Ding Xian back to their old classroom to relive the days they studied together.

Everything felt so familiar, as if nothing had changed. Zhou Siyue took out a book from the desk drawer with “I love you, Ding Xian” written in it. He had written that a long time ago — a secret he had hidden all this time, one that Ding Xian had already known.
