Ordinary Glory Episode 41 (Ending) Recap
> Ordinary Glory Recap
The next morning, Sun Yiqiu went to the office and left a resignation letter on Wu Kezhi's desk. Wu Kezhi visited Rihuan Biotech. The alarm regarding the project there had been lifted, but Wu Kezhi felt a heavy burden of guilt. Back at the office, Lin Yuming expressed his suspicions about how the Rihuan situation played out.
Ding Libo then admitted that he was the one who informed Director Qu about the project's progress, explaining that the project was crucial for Team IV. Lin Yuming was furious, stating that Wu Kezhi had always avoided questionable projects, but Wu Kezhi took responsibility for the decision, halting the argument. Elsewhere, Hao Shuai waited for Manager Yin in the underground parking lot.
He presented Manager Yin with a phone number, revealing he had called it pretending to be Manager Yin's subordinate, recording their conversation. The recording exposed Manager Yin's collusion with Mr. Zhou, the founder of Mofan Fashion, to help cover up bankruptcy in exchange for a large sum of money. A panicked Manager Yin offered Hao Shuai half the money to delete his backup recording and keep silent, even offering him his car and expensive watch. Hao Shuai refused.
Instead, he brought in a group of Mofan Fashion workers and instructed Manager Yin to distribute all the illicit money he received to them as interest, cooperate fully with the police investigation, and leave the company, stating he found Manager Yin disgusting. Meanwhile, Gao Sicong gifted Lan Qianyi a pair of high heels. He tried to ask her out for dinner after work, but Lan Qianyi, engrossed in her project, had no time.
Back in her team, Manager Ma told Lan Qianyi to suspend her current project and transfer the documents to Zhao Boqian. Fearing she had made a mistake, Lan Qianyi was relieved when Chief Xu informed her that the company was offering a one-year advanced study program in France, and Manager Ma had selected her for it due to her outstanding performance. Lan Qianyi was thrilled. Gao Sicong, passing by, overheard the news.
He then told Lan Qianyi that in his hometown, gifting shoes often signifies a farewell, and he couldn't believe it was true. He asked how long she would be gone, and upon hearing it was for a year, he joked that he would likely be a manager by the time she returned, to which Lan Qianyi replied she hoped he would look after her then.
When Wu Kezhi, Lin Yuming, and Ding Libo returned to their office, they found Sun Yiqiu's desk cleared, with only a resignation letter remaining. Gao Sicong, who had just learned about Lan Qianyi's upcoming departure and felt disappointed, then received a call from Hao Shuai, informing him of Sun Yiqiu's resignation. Lin Yuming frantically tried to call Sun Yiqiu, growing increasingly agitated. He angrily confronted Ding Libo, blaming him for Sun Yiqiu's departure by informing Director Qu.
However, Lin Yuming later acknowledged that Sun Yiqiu was already caught up in the situation and would have left regardless, expressing deep sadness at his friend's departure. Sun Yiqiu's letter stated that leaving King Capital was a selfish personal decision, and the days spent in Team IV were the happiest of his life.
He promised to hold onto hope and the principles he learned from them, concluding with a line he remembered: "Leaving is a trend in this world, and yet, we are not good at saying goodbye." He felt he was one such person, making every goodbye feel like a flight in which he abandoned everything, and simply wanted to say "thank you" to Wu Kezhi and Team IV.
Ding Libo then presented Wu Kezhi with the results of their overseas investigation into Rihuan Biotech, confirming that the company had indeed fabricated its data. He apologized for the delay. With their own resignation letters prepared, the three resolved to fight. Wu Kezhi crashed Rihuan's celebratory banquet, confronting Director Qu and presenting the evidence of Rihuan's suspected falsification of profits through related companies. He demanded the immediate termination of their IPO application.
Director Qu argued about the immense financial losses King Capital would face if Rihuan's IPO failed. Wu Kezhi countered that a scandal post-IPO would be even more damaging, threatening to personally report Rihuan to the China Securities Regulatory Commission if no action was taken by 10 AM the next day. Despite Director Qu's threat to end his career in the investment industry, Wu Kezhi remained unyielding, declaring that Team IV would "rather die with dignity."
The next day, news spread like wildfire that Rihuan Biotech's IPO had been abandoned, followed by the surprising announcement of Director Qu's resignation. Director Qu met with Wu Kezhi, explaining that he decided to leave rather than let Wu Kezhi be forced out.
He admitted his initial goal was to maximize company profits by pushing Rihuan's IPO, but since he failed, he believed someone like Wu Kezhi, who matters more to King Capital than the company does to him, should stay. He reflected on how he had changed over the years, sacrificing some people for the sake of others, and hoped his departure would be an opportunity for Wu Kezhi to do a better job if he chose to stay.
Wu Kezhi returned to the company to an entirely different reception, with colleagues addressing him as "Director Wu." Gao Yue escorted him to Director Li's office, informing him that Director Li had replaced Director Qu and this office was now his. Later, Zhou Qingyu visited, dismissing office rumors that Wu Kezhi had aligned with Chris and Director Li to oust Director Qu.
He encouraged Wu Kezhi to remain true to himself and not be bothered by gossip as long as he had "nothing to be ashamed of." Director Li then summoned Wu Kezhi, acknowledging his role in the Rihuan outcome and expressing that Wu Kezhi's talent had been wasted for years. He offered Wu Kezhi the position of General Manager of the New Business Division, promising projects like "unicorns."
However, Wu Kezhi, suspecting Director Li's involvement in Sun Yiqiu's resignation, handed in his own letter of resignation. Wu Kezhi returned to his office to pack. Lin Yuming immediately began helping him, while Ding Libo watched them with complex emotions. Wu Kezhi, however, tore up Lin Yuming's resignation letter, advising him to think about his own future and pursue his promotion.
He also reassured Ding Libo that he had done nothing wrong and should not blame himself, entrusting the future of Team IV to them both. Two months later, Sun Yiqiu was working odd jobs, including driving for ride-sharing services, while trying to find new employment. However, his lack of academic qualifications led to numerous rejections. Despite his own struggles, he found comfort in the good news of his former colleagues.
Hao Shuai had become a celebrated figure in the Consumer Goods Division for resolving the Mofan Fashion issue, finally getting to invest in the domestic fashion industry as he always wished and becoming a fashion icon. Gao Sicong's project, "Nishuihan (Justice Online)," was hailed as a miracle in the gaming industry, earning him an award and a reputation as the next top investment consultant.
Lan Qianyi, having completed her studies in France six months ahead of schedule, returned to the company and was promoted ahead of Gao Sicong, much to his chagrin. Ding Libo, as a member of the team that exposed Rihuan's misdeed, was promoted to Wu Kezhi's former position. However, Team IV was never the same, experiencing high staff turnover. Wu Kezhi, at 40, started his own research and consulting firm, embracing the opportunity to pursue work that aligned with his principles.
One day, Lin Yuming arrived at Wu Kezhi's new firm, carrying boxes of belongings, and joined the company. It was revealed that Sun Yiqiu had already been recruited by Wu Kezhi. Sun Yiqiu was studying for a degree in investment and project management, still harboring the hope of becoming an investor.
Wu Kezhi, reflecting on his past cynical views, now affirmed that having hope was a good thing, regardless of whether it felt fake or real, as it served as a source of motivation. Lin Yuming soon discovered that Sun Yiqiu's salary was higher than his own and complained about the unfairness.
Wu Kezhi playfully reminded him that Sun Yiqiu was an "old timer" and he was just a "newcomer intern," and suggested they change how they addressed each other now that they had left King Capital. He insisted Lin Yuming address Sun Yiqiu as "Manager Sun." Lin Yuming eventually conceded, then jokingly told them they could call him "Fatso." The trio, bickering good-naturedly as always, then set off together for a new work assignment, embarking on their future with renewed hope.
