After Wu Kezhi received a phone call from Director Pan, he informed Lu Siqiu that their project had not yet been approved and they needed to wait. Lu Siqiu grew impatient, accusing Wu Kezhi of "plotting something with the Risk Control Centre." He warned Wu Kezhi that he would give him "three more days," stating that if the project were lost due to delays, it would not be his responsibility.
Meanwhile, Lan Qianyi was at the auto parts warehouse inspecting the merchandise. Manager Zhao called her, and Lan Qianyi reported a significant problem: "Many boxes are empty and hidden on the upper part of the racks." She assured him she had taken pictures and would finish after checking the last two rows. However, Manager Zhao angrily told her, "Are you nuts? Who told you to climb up and check? Come back at once!"
At the office, Jiang Nan found Gao Sicong organizing files. Jiang Nan was dissatisfied with Gao Sicong's method of arranging them by month, suggesting it would be more efficient to use alphabetical order. Gao Sicong immediately apologized for his thoughtlessness and began to rearrange the documents. Later, Sun Yiqiu overheard Lu Siqiu talking on the phone, discreetly arranging to meet someone in the cinema basement across from the office after hours, so as not to be seen.
Sun Yiqiu followed and observed a man in a suit exchanging documents with Lu Siqiu, managing to take photos of them. Lan Qianyi continued her inspection at the warehouse, but the staff, unaware she was still inside, locked up for the night. She frantically yelled, "Don't close the door! I'm still inside!" Back at the office, Manager Zhao was waiting for Lan Qianyi but couldn't reach her by phone. He eventually went to the warehouse himself and rescued her.
Lan Qianyi thanked him, explaining she had "proof of their lies in my phone." Manager Zhao, however, expressed his concern, asking if she was "stupid" for climbing the ladder alone and what would happen if she got hurt. When Lan Qianyi offered to return the company car, Manager Zhao insisted on driving her home, telling her he would "send someone to pick it up tomorrow."
Back at the office, Lin Yuming reported that the man Sun Yiqiu photographed was not among the management-level employees of the buyer company. Sun Yiqiu was certain the man was holding the same envelope Lu Siqiu had, but Lin Yuming noted that an envelope alone wasn't conclusive evidence. Lu Siqiu then approached Wu Kezhi, reminding him that he had "two days left" to get the project approved.
Disturbed by his lack of solid evidence, Sun Yiqiu asked Gao Sicong if there was any device that could record conversations when he wasn't present, specifically to capture what was discussed in a car. Gao Sicong suggested checking the dashcam, as it "usually comes with an audio recorder." Sun Yiqiu quickly left, leaving Gao Sicong puzzled by his haste.
After work, Sun Yiqiu lingered until Lu Siqiu returned and unexpectedly asked him to drive him and his girlfriend to a dinner engagement. Sun Yiqiu seized the opportunity, dropping them off and offering to park the car up front. He discreetly removed the memory card from the dashcam, narrowly avoiding detection by Lu Siqiu. At the dinner, Lu Siqiu made Sun Yiqiu drink heavily to entertain his business associates. During the party, Lu Siqiu openly declared, "Once you. . .

The next morning, his mother chastised him for associating with "indecent women." Sun Yiqiu confided in Lin Yuming and Wu Kezhi that he had obtained the dashcam's memory card but had lost his wallet containing it after "blacking out" from the night's drinking.
Wu Kezhi found the timing of this "first blackout ever" to be exceptionally unfortunate. Determined to find the wallet and the "key evidence" it held, the three went back to the restaurant, but it was nowhere to be found. Just then, Sun Yiqiu received a call from DiDi's Lost and Found, informing him that the driver had found his wallet and delivered it to the company's front desk.
Rushing back, they learned that Lu Siqiu had already collected the wallet on Sun Yiqiu's behalf. Lu Siqiu, having discovered the memory card, confronted Wu Kezhi, Sun Yiqiu, and Lin Yuming, alongside Manager Wang. Wu Kezhi openly expressed his "suspic[ion] that you have unethical dealings with that man." In response, Lu Siqiu called in the man from the photos, Liu Yun Peng, who was revealed to be a real estate agent.
Liu Yun Peng explained that the documents were a house sale contract, and he was forced to sell his property due to stock market losses and his wife's unemployment. He met Lu Siqiu in the basement for privacy because the company discouraged team members from selling personal properties. Sun Yiqiu tried to admit his mistake, but Wu Kezhi quickly interjected, taking responsibility for the suspicion himself and stating that "for now, I have no problem."
Angered by Wu Kezhi's actions, Lu Siqiu declared he would "stop working on that project for now." Manager Wang then issued a stern warning to Wu Kezhi and his team: if they "don't do your best to get this project approved, you guys know the consequence." Elsewhere, Hao Shuai refused to revise a report for Yin Manager, arguing that he was constantly stuck "cleaning after you" and took leave.
He later commiserated with Lan Qianyi, stating that they both suffered under "bad bosses" who offered "opportunities" that were "just a huge lie," ultimately taking credit while junior staff bore the responsibility. Coincidentally, Manager Xu praised Lan Qianyi's thorough warehouse investigation the previous night and instructed Manager Zhao to assign such tasks to her in the future, as it was a suitable role. Manager Zhao then informed Lan Qianyi that she should prepare for the China-Europe logistics project.
He explained that since she was the only one on their team who knew French, she had a chance to become one of the project leads if she performed well. He added that this assignment was "better than sending you on due diligence investigations" and would "save myself from troubles." Lan Qianyi thanked him profusely. Feeling the pressure, Wu Kezhi went to the rooftop to smoke.
Lan Qianyi joined him, remarking that while she wasn't particularly bothered, her work was her priority, and she had to overcome her personal feelings. Inspired by her resolve, Wu Kezhi decided to humble himself and "beg" Lu Siqiu. Sun Yiqiu and Lin Yuming offered to accompany him, but Wu Kezhi refused, emphasizing that if anyone were to be fired, it would be him, and he had no intention of letting that happen.
Wu Kezhi waited for Lu Siqiu, who was getting a massage. Lu Siqiu, aware of Wu Kezhi's presence, instructed his assistant to tell him to "keep waiting." Meanwhile, the Energy Group was preparing to leave for a project meeting. Manager Ma told Lan Qianyi to stay behind, claiming there wasn't "enough space in the car." Wu Kezhi continued to wait for Lu Siqiu, having already endured three hours without seeing him.
