Chang Jianxiong visited Nan Qiao’s father daily to deliver dog food and gather information. He informed Shi Yue that the three dogs were causing Nan Qiao’s father a lot of trouble, but Shi Yue chuckled, interpreting it as a sign of Nan Qiao’s father’s affection, suggesting that because he cared for Shi Yue, he hadn't returned the dogs.
Shi Yue admitted their first meeting was unexpected, but the time and space it created allowed for some mental preparation for their second encounter. He felt that he and Nan Qiao’s father were quite similar. Chang Jianxiong wished him luck, advising him to prepare well. Nan Qiao's father unexpectedly summoned Shi Yue, catching him off guard. Nan Qiao reassured Shi Yue that her father was easily pleased, particularly fond of men like her brother-in-law, Nan Qin's husband.
She even provided Shi Yue with the leather jacket her brother-in-law wore during his first meeting with her father. She explained that Chang's father had initiated a meeting with her, outlining a "strategy to get my son." He used an 80% cooked steak to symbolize their relationship, implying they were familiar but needed to progress, and that "now is the best time to gobble it up," as waiting for 100% completion would be too late.
He then presented macaroni, explaining that Chang Jianxiong’s heart, previously dedicated solely to Nan Qiao, was now empty, and whoever filled it would "be able to eat him." After reflecting on her memories, Ouyang Qi decided it was time to move on. Subsequently, Ouyang Qi met with Hao Jie.
When he once again expressed his willingness to accept all aspects of her life, including her dogs and cats, and accept a probation for the position of her fiancé, Ouyang Qi shyly accepted. She also mentioned he could aim for a promotion to "official husband." Later, Nan Qiao brought Shi Yue home to see her father. However, Nan Qin, Nan Qiao’s sister, intercepted them.
With a subtle warning, she informed Shi Yue that their father was waiting for him in Nan Si's room. Nan Qiao, concerned for Shi Yue, accompanied him upstairs. Nan Qiao's father had set up a complex chess game, challenging Shi Yue to a match as a test. Shi Yue calmly responded, stating he would be completely honest with Nan Qiao and her father in their relationship. Nan Qiao’s father then inquired about Shi Yue's past.
Shi Yue dismissed his past as "nothing remarkable" and not worth mentioning. Unexpectedly, Nan Qiao’s father produced a file, directly questioning Shi Yue whether he was unwilling or too ashamed to discuss his past, revealing that he had already conducted a thorough investigation into Shi Yue.
