Feng Ren prepared to share a curse with Yi Fuling, but Feng Tianyi intervened, having Xue Jin drug Feng Ren to prevent him. Feng Tianyi then took Feng Ren's place, attempting to share the curse with Yi Fuling himself. The ritual failed, leaving both Feng Tianyi and Yi Fuling unconscious. Enraged, Feng Ren threatened to kill Xue Jin, who revealed that finding the person who cast the curse—Xue Feishuang—was the only way to save them.
Meanwhile, Yu Haizhen cared for a heartbroken Xue Feishuang, who, consumed by hatred for Yi Fuling, wished for her death. Yu Haizhen, an unrecognized member of the Xue clan, tried to reason with her about her intense animosity. Feng Ren's forces eventually tracked them down. Xiang Congling rescued Xue Feishuang amidst the chaos, while Yu Haizhen was captured. Xiang Congling protected Xue Feishuang from an arrow, then, as atonement for past misdeeds, fatally stabbed himself. Shocked, Xue Feishuang flew away.
Yi Fuling slowly awakened to find Feng Tianyi also afflicted by the curse and lying unconscious beside her. She was saddened by his sacrifice but finally understood his true love, symbolically binding their hair together to signify their eternal commitment. They embraced, cherishing their time. Following a lead from Xue Feishuang's hideout, Feng Ren located Gu Shenghua, a former Tianji Gate priestess who granted wishes in exchange for eternal youth.
Gu Shenghua attempted to seduce Feng Ren, but he was unaffected. Using a special fingernail (which Xue Jin had informed him could harm her), Feng Ren inflicted a wound on Gu Shenghua's face, causing her to age rapidly as her black hair turned white. Feng Ren then killed her by inserting the red fingernail into her throat, though his own hand was injured by her curse. Feng Tianyi later found Xue Feishuang, whose hair had turned white.
Learning Yi Fuling was alive, Xue Feishuang became extremely agitated, cursing her. Feng Tianyi, pitying her, urged her to let go of her hatred and return to the palace. Suddenly, Feng Tianyi and Yi Fuling discovered their curses had completely vanished. They embraced joyfully. Feng Ren witnessed their reunion and was relieved. Feng Ren's guards found a mysterious, unopenable box on Yu Haizhen. After all attempts to open it failed, Feng Ren interrogated Yu Haizhen.
Yu Haizhen revealed the box was left by Ji Shu and insisted he could not and should not open it. Feng Ren then threatened Yu Haizhen with Xue Feishuang's life and his own hand to force him to unlock it.
