Never Say Goodbye Episode 30 Recap
> Never Say Goodbye Recap
Zheng Ke had Tieguanyin tied up in a warehouse. Tieguanyin mocked Zheng Ke, asking if he truly believed he could successfully rescue his daughter, Xiaoxiao. Zheng Ke, through a phone call, had previously threatened Glasses with information about the mole, demanding his daughter back and implying that the mole would destroy Group K if his daughter wasn't returned.
Glasses, in turn, called his subordinate, Shao Nan, ordering him to bring the girl to the fishing port and kill both her and Luotuo (Zheng Ke). Tieguanyin, now facing Zheng Ke directly, expressed disbelief at the ruthlessness of the situation, remarking, "You people, you'd even kill a little girl?" Zheng Ke reaffirmed his conviction to save Xiaoxiao, to which Tieguanyin responded with skepticism.
Zheng Ke then turned the tables, questioning if Tieguanyin thought Liu Qingqing would take the fall for her, highlighting that Liu Qingqing was merely an accomplice while Tieguanyin was the main culprit. He urged Tieguanyin to consider her own future. Tieguanyin laughed bitterly, proclaiming that she had never envisioned a future for herself since entering the drug trade, viewing it as one big gamble.
Glasses's subordinate arrived at the exchange location with Zheng Ke's daughter, Xiaoxiao, holding her at gunpoint and demanding Zheng Ke drop his weapon. Zheng Ke, desperate to protect Xiaoxiao, complied and threw his gun to the ground. In a swift turn of events, Li Yimeng, who had been lying in ambush, immediately shot Glasses's henchman with a sniper rifle. Zheng Ke rushed to embrace his terrified daughter.
Seizing the opportunity, Tieguanyin picked up the discarded handgun and aimed it at Zheng Ke. Police officers, witnessing this, quickly surrounded Tieguanyin. Realizing her situation was hopeless, Tieguanyin pressed the gun to her own head and committed suicide. Mu Qing arrived at Mr. Ou's home with Glasses, where Glasses said Tieguanyin would arrive shortly.
Mr. Ou, holding a handgun, addressed Mu Qing, Li Ruosheng, and Congtou, declaring that once Tieguanyin arrived, one of them would be shot as the mole was to be exposed that day. As they waited in silence, Glasses repeatedly tried to call his subordinate without success. Shortly after, a subordinate reported that something had gone wrong. Mr. Ou saw a news report confirming Tieguanyin's suicide, enraging him to the point of smashing his phone.
He summoned Glasses into a room, slapped him, and angrily ordered him to establish a new factory immediately, emphasizing it should be as small and discreet as possible to avoid police detection. He added that for Mu Qing, killing him without proof would be difficult for Kexin to accept, so Mu Qing should spend a few days with her until things settled.
Congtou, shaken by the news of Tieguanyin's suicide, became visibly anxious, unsure of what had transpired and who was responsible. He glanced at Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng, still bewildered. Glasses then informed Mu Qing, Li Ruosheng, and Congtou that they were dismissed. Upon Mu Qing's return to Ou Kexin's studio, Kexin welcomed him and hugged him tightly, expressing relief. She quickly released him, playfully teasing if he genuinely thought she liked him, adding he was overthinking things.
Mu Qing observed that Kexin's embrace felt strikingly similar to Rong Yu's. Later, in the bathroom, Mu Qing pondered why Kexin's demeanor and tone so strongly resembled Rong Yu. He then sternly reminded himself, using his real name Yuanwen, that he shouldn't get too close to Kexin because both of them were undercover agents. Meanwhile, downstairs, Kexin herself was heartbroken by their inability to acknowledge their true identities during their reunion. Congtou was seen shopping with his pregnant mistress.
He informed her that he had opened an overseas account for her with a substantial amount of money, which he had planned long ago but only recently completed due to foreign exchange processing. He also mentioned they would be moving to a new, more comfortable home, and the new mattress she just bought would be perfect for it. She questioned if he was hiding something or had done something wrong, but he reassured her that everything was fine.
Meanwhile, the mysterious Spectre called Mr. Ou, expressing his intent to find a collaborator for his new, unique raw materials, which he considered his life's work. Spectre stressed that he would only entrust his product to the most capable dealer. Mr. Ou asserted that money was not an issue for him, but Spectre countered that he prioritized "abilities that are more important than wealth" and, most importantly, "security."
Spectre mentioned his desire for long-term prosperity and market dominance with his new product but expressed concerns about safety due to recent rumors. To personally assess Mr. Ou's capabilities, Spectre decided to travel to Yungang. Ou Kexin complained about not knowing her father's new address despite his having moved weeks ago. Li Ruosheng, hearing her frustration, handed her the new address from his pocket, which Mr. Ou had given him for Kexin.
Li Ruosheng explained that Mr. Ou had instructed Glasses to keep quiet about the big business dealings, adding that Kexin, as a woman, shouldn't inquire too much, and instead, should visit and care for her father who had been working hard. Kexin, feigning annoyance, agreed to cook for her father and visit.
While Kexin went to prepare food, Mu Qing subtly extracted information from Li Ruosheng about Spectre's impending arrival, an international figure largely unknown, whose new product Mr. Ou highly valued. Li Ruosheng mentioned that Mr. Ou was fully preoccupied with Spectre and warned against any actions that might jeopardize the group. Li Ruosheng also expressed concern about Congtou's increasing negativity since Tieguanyin's demise and offered to keep a close eye on Congtou.
Mu Qing, realizing Congtou might be planning something big, then informed Kexin that he would report Spectre's arrival to his superiors, advising her to return to her father's house to gather intelligence on Spectre and prepare to take over Mr. Ou's business. He instructed her to make her return appear natural to avoid suspicion. Kexin, agreeing to the plan, staged a loud argument with Mu Qing to provide a plausible reason for her return to her father's new residence.
Director Liu had also informed Rong Yao that Spectre would be coming to Yungang to find a dealer for his new drug, and urged them to coordinate with their undercover agents. Upon her arrival at her father's, Mr. Ou questioned if she had fought with Mu Qing, noting how much she had protected him before. Kexin, maintaining the facade of a lover's spat, reiterated her care for her father and served him soup.
Mr. Ou praised her cooking, finding it better than a restaurant's. He also remarked on her constantly being in his study at their old house and then being in this one, noting that his study was private, but she, as his daughter, was an exception. He then escorted her upstairs to rest, reminding her not to eat too much. Later that night, while everyone was asleep, Ou Kexin secretly searched Mr. Ou's study and discovered a safe.
Li Ruosheng, while tracking Congtou, discovered that he was keeping a pregnant mistress hidden in a secluded villa, a secret he clearly wanted to keep. Li Ruosheng observed that Congtou seemed very fond of her. Mu Qing noted that the secrecy and her pregnancy made the situation noteworthy, suggesting that past events involving Dakun and Tieguanyin had made Congtou nervous.
Li Ruosheng also noted other suspicious cars near the villa, indicating others were also monitoring Congtou, and commented that if Glasses and Congtou fought, it would be "more interesting than we thought." Mu Qing then concluded that this chaotic period presented both danger and opportunity, urging them to work harder. Recognizing this as a potential breakthrough, Mu Qing sent photos of the mistress to Director Liu, requesting a thorough investigation.
He suggested she was Congtou's "Achilles' heel" and a good entry point, especially with the group's current internal turmoil and Congtou's ambiguous stance, making him an "easy target." Director Liu acknowledged the information, expressing hope for a significant breakthrough and encouraging Mu Qing, "Yuanwen, hang in there. You'll be returning soon. Stay safe." Meanwhile, Congtou, expressing his anxieties to his mistress, confessed he had been feeling uneasy after not seeing her for days.
He lamented that since being with her, he had not returned home and now, with her pregnancy, she had no family or friends, asking if he had put her through hardship, to which she replied she was willing to endure it. Glasses discussed Spectre with Mr. Ou, expressing frustration at their passive position as Spectre carefully selected a partner. Glasses worried that Spectre might discover the group's internal issues if he came to Yungang, jeopardizing the potential partnership.
Mr. Ou then instructed Glasses to procure a 10% foreign currency deposit through an underground bank, determined to trick Spectre into a deal, even if it meant lying. Glasses, still seeking forgiveness for previous mistakes, assured Mr. Ou of his future diligence, but Mr. Ou simply urged him to focus on the task. As Glasses was leaving, Ou Kexin, bringing another bowl of soup for her father, overheard parts of this conversation about the deposit and deceiving Spectre.
She greeted Glasses, who noted her still being awake, confirming they were discussing business. Kexin then presented the soup to her father, reminding him of her promise to cook for him daily.
