To his surprise, Chi Xin answered, explaining that Xiaorou's broken water pipe had flooded his apartment, prompting her to offer him temporary residence. He also informed Zheng Ze that Xiaorou was currently staying at SA Yi's house. Zheng Ze left, remembering Chi Xin's earlier comment about not being able to reach Xiaorou by phone.
Later, SA Yi received a text from Zheng Ze, confirming he had Xiaorou's phone and would return it the next day. Ding Xiaorou felt awkward about her abrupt departure from the charity gala the previous night without saying goodbye to Zheng Ze. SA Yi reassured her and lightheartedly suggested she should be more confident, even joking about plastic surgery. Xiaorou then asked SA Yi if she was the most beautiful in her heart, to which SA Yi affectionately affirmed.
The following morning at work, Ding Xiaorou found Lucy orchestrating an elaborate welcome ceremony for the new company director. Much to Lucy's shock, Zheng Ze arrived as the new director of Taigu Group. Ding Xiaorou credited "Sister Jiang Yuan" for the publication, expressing her gratitude for the unexpected recognition. She then apologized for her sudden exit from the gala, explaining she had accidentally spilled red wine on herself. Zheng Ze dismissed her apology and instructed her not to call him David anymore.
Lucy was furious to discover Zheng Ze was the chairman's son, realizing her past dismissiveness was a huge mistake. The next morning at the office, Ding Xiaorou was struck by severe abdominal pain and rushed to the bathroom, vomiting.
She overheard colleagues gossiping, suggesting she had advanced in the company by seducing "Prince Ye" and stolen Lucy's "Snow Country Rainbow" credit. Weak and unable to defend herself, she collapsed. She later woke up in the hospital, where SA Yi informed her she had been poisoned by narcissus seeds, which are often mistaken for garlic. Chi Xin arrived just in time, dismissing the fan's talk of a curse and ordering him to leave. Deeply distressed by the series of unfortunate events, Ding Xiaorou felt trapped by her "curse," believing she was destined for unhappiness. Chi Xin tried to comfort her, reminding her of her own words about hope and asserting that the "curse" was merely a psychological suggestion. He emphasized that she, like any other girl, had the right to pursue dreams and happiness.
As SA Yi arrived to visit, Chi Xin departed, leaving behind a large bag. SA Yi later discovered it contained a projector, prompting her to jokingly call Chi Xin a "steel straight man." That night, Chi Xin was sleepless, regretting that choosing Ding Xiaorou for his show might have brought her so much misfortune. Ding Xiaorou's phone buzzed with payment notifications, revealing Chi Xin had scanned the QR codes for her instant noodles and several cans of beer.
The following morning, Zheng Ze, anticipating Xiaorou might hide from him, asked SA Yi to deliver a bowl of vegetable porridge to her in the hospital. Ding Xiaorou, unaware of the sender, happily ate the delicious porridge. SA Yi then revealed Zheng Ze was the one who sent it, adding that he predicted Xiaorou might not eat it if he delivered it himself.
Ding Xiaorou clarified to SA Yi that she wasn't angry with Zheng Ze, but rather with herself, due to the harsh rumors at work. SA Yi conveyed this to Zheng Ze over the phone, who was relieved. When SA Yi asked why he liked Ding Xiaorou, Zheng Ze confessed that it was a feeling he couldn't forget after just one look, and Xiaorou was the first to make him feel that way. SA Yi offered him her encouragement.
Separately, Zhen Zheng brought flowers and money to He Mingzhu at her shop. He asked her, as a "topic," how a woman could tell if a man was in love. He Mingzhu explained that possessiveness and jealousy were strong indicators, citing scenarios like a man driving around to find a woman in danger.
Zhen Zheng then mentioned going to the hospital to see Ding Xiaorou, but He Mingzhu subtly suggested he shouldn't, implying that someone else needed that "precious opportunity" to care for Xiaorou more than he did.
