> Mengfei Comes Across Recap

Bu Meng, who preferred amusement over vying for the Emperor's attention, found herself in a gambling game with historian He Qi Liao and some palace guards. After losing repeatedly, He Qi Liao tried to leave, explaining that Consort Ru had tasked him with finding the sixth volume of the out-of-print novel "Love in the Palace." He said Consort Ru was obsessed with the series and would likely punish him if he failed.

Despite his explanation, Bu Meng tried to convince him to play another round. Later, while kicking her winnings, Bu Meng dropped a silver coin and hid behind a flowerpot when she heard Consort Ru approaching. Consort Ru, discussing her love for "Love in the Palace" and her desire for volume six with her maid, stepped on the coin and twisted her ankle. The maid immediately accused someone of trying to harm Consort Ru.

Consort Ru demanded the hidden person reveal themselves, and Bu Meng emerged, timidly apologizing and feigning illness to excuse her behavior. Consort Ru, unimpressed, mocked her and ordered Bu Meng to kneel on the scattered silver coins until an incense stick burned completely, calling it Bu Meng's "doctor's fees." While kneeling, Bu Meng remembered He Qi Liao's desperation and Consort Ru's obsession with the novel.

She decided to write the continuation herself, planning a tragic plot to emotionally torment Consort Ru. After her punishment, she told He Qi Liao that she had the sixth volume. He was overjoyed, and Bu Meng, pretending to be a diligent reader, promised to find it and send it to him the next day, asking for the fifth volume to aid her search. Back in her palace, Bu Meng criticized the original "Love in the Palace" as overly dramatic.

Qu Xiao visited, worried about Bu Meng's punishment. Upon seeing the novel, Qu Xiao revealed her own fandom. Bu Meng revealed her plan to continue the series with a tragic ending for all characters, intending to cause Consort Ru immense emotional suffering. Qu Xiao was shocked, but Bu Meng, promising snacks for a month, secured her silence and alliance.

Once the first part was ready, Bu Meng instructed her maid, Yan Er, to deliver it to He Qi Liao, reminding her to be secretive about Bu Meng's authorship and claim she had been searching all night. He Qi Liao noticed the wet ink and grew suspicious. Yan Er claimed the book had become damp from being stored beneath others, convincing him.

Consort Ru was thrilled with the new volume, praising the author's emotionally charged storyline and developments involving the 17th prince. She demanded He Qi Liao find the seventh volume and the author. A troubled He Qi Liao approached Bu Meng, explaining Consort Ru's intense reaction and demand to unmask the author. Bu Meng feigned innocence, accusing him of harassing a "genius creator" and defended the work as fulfilling "spiritual cultural needs." She pressed him on getting the next installment.

Bu Meng remained determined to torment Consort Ru. Bu Meng completed the "Love in the Palace" series, successfully emotionally tormenting Consort Ru. Enraged by the ending, Consort Ru vowed to punish the author and their family. She summoned He Qi Liao, who confessed that Bu Meng had been providing him with the volumes. Consort Ru, realizing Bu Meng's scheme, went to confront her.

He Qi Liao rushed to warn Bu Meng that he had been forced to expose her and that Consort Ru was coming. He urged her to seek refuge with the Emperor. Bu Meng reluctantly sought refuge with the Emperor, entering his chambers to find him bathing. Mistaking her for Eunuch Wu, the Emperor asked her to scrub his back. Turning and seeing her, he screamed. Bu Meng covered his mouth, promising to release him if he remained silent.

The Emperor recognized her, calling her a "cheeky woman gangster." Consort Ru, thinking it was a good time for a romantic visit, arrived. Bu Meng hid in the Emperor's bathwater. Consort Ru entered, but the Emperor politely sent her away. After Consort Ru left, Bu Meng explained her situation. The Emperor, aware that Bu Meng was the author of the novel, teased her about her reaction to Consort Ru disparaging the book.

He revealed that his intelligence network had already informed him of her authorship and made her "beg for forgiveness." Soon after, an imperial decree arrived, announcing that the Emperor had bestowed upon Consort Meng a lavish array of delicacies prepared by royal chef Cai Tai Xian, including cherry blossom apricot cake, Ming Zhu tofu, royal grilled chicken, and anchovy shark fin. However, Bu Meng believed the Emperor was deliberately making her a target within the harem as punishment for her actions.
