Lucky With You Episode 12 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Wu Shiyi found a wig and a bolster in a trash can near the restaurant, strongly suspecting they belonged to the pregnant woman who had accused her. She immediately called the police, reporting her findings and guiding them to the location in No. 2 Hutong next to Kirin. Officers arrived to collect the evidence, but the items alone weren't enough to fully confirm Wu Shiyi's innocence.
Hou Jue was puzzled, asking how a wig could be evidence and why Wu Shiyi would even search a trash can. Wu Shiyi explained that the restaurant's main street was heavily monitored, making the small, unmonitored side street an ideal escape route, which led her to check nearby trash. She was surprised her theory proved correct, impressing Hou Jue with her sharp investigative instincts.
Due to the complaint, Wu Shiyi was recalled to the company for investigation, and her position as Hou Jue's bodyguard would be taken over by a new recruit, Zhou Quan. Hou Jue was annoyed by the sudden change, complaining about the unfairness of being assigned a bodyguard when he didn't want one, only to have her replaced just as he got used to her. Wu Shiyi acknowledged the unfairness but expressed belief that justice would eventually prevail.
Meanwhile, Mary was admiring herself in Fang Lu's expensive necklace, while a worried Fang Lu called, fearing Hou Jue suspected her involvement. Mary reassured her that Hou Jue had no evidence. Mary then went out, proudly displaying the necklace in a residential building near the restaurant. As Wu Shiyi prepared to leave Hou Jue’s residence, Sister Zhang was heartbroken, clinging to Wu Shiyi’s luggage and refusing to let her go.
She tearfully expressed her reluctance to see Wu Shiyi go, praising her character and offering to vouch for her, insisting she would eventually return. Hou Jue gave Wu Shiyi a cherished figurine, a "Dung Beetle Hero" he likened to her, as a parting gift. When Zhou Quan introduced himself as the new security guard, Hou Jue admitted he didn't want a replacement.
Qian Qian, present at the handover, glared at Hou Jue, remarking sarcastically about his "best girlfriends" and predicting they would be his downfall. Hou Jue apologized for Wu Shiyi's predicament and promised to clear her name. Before leaving, Wu Shiyi formally thanked Hou Jue for his support, a gesture that left him feeling uneasy, as he wished for a less formal, perhaps angry, farewell. Qian Qian was furious with Fang Lu for her actions.
Wu Shiyi speculated that Fang Lu's animosity might stem from her overhearing a phone call at the wedding shop, where Fang Lu spoke about going out with someone and fearing Hou Jue would find out. Wu Shiyi hadn't told Hou Jue about it, respecting Fang Lu's privacy, but she noted that Fang Lu didn't truly understand Hou Jue, who deeply disliked manipulative behavior. Wu Shiyi also expressed concern about her family's finances, hoping to earn more at the company.
Later, Sister Zhang passionately defended Wu Shiyi to Zhou Quan, criticizing Hou Jue's girlfriend, Fang Lu, and displaying a poor attitude towards Hou Jue himself. Wu Shiyi, recalling the restaurant incident, reiterated her belief that proving her innocence was only a matter of time by finding the fake pregnant woman.
However, she admitted that proving Fang Lu's direct involvement would be more challenging, as the narrow alley where the wig was found lacked surveillance cameras and led into complex residential areas, making it like "looking for a needle in a haystack." Zhou Quan informed them that while Wu Shiyi would receive a basic salary at the company, to earn performance pay, she would have to act as a "trainee," specifically for "fighting" exercises, which essentially meant enduring hits.
Sister Zhang was outraged, wanting to immediately call the company leadership. Hou Jue also felt uneasy and decided to personally visit the company's management. At the company, Mr. Zhao, the General Manager, explained that any accusation impacting the company's reputation was a severe industry taboo, as it could damage the entire firm and its other employees.
Despite personally trusting Wu Shiyi, he stated that company policy required her to be confined to the company compound as a "trainee" until the investigation cleared her name. Wu Shiyi would endure repetitive throws to the ground during training sessions. Hou Jue vehemently argued for Wu Shiyi’s immediate reinstatement, emphasizing his trust in her and clarifying that the complainant was not his girlfriend.
Mr. Zhao remained firm, stating that Wu Shiyi could only resume work after the investigation results were conclusive or if Fang Lu withdrew her complaint. Hou Jue was left speechless. He later observed Wu Shiyi repeatedly being slammed to the ground during training, her plight visibly affecting him.
His emotions boiled over when he saw Hai Xing engaged in a sparring match with Wu Shiyi, fiercely tackling Hai Xing to the ground and yelling that no one was allowed to hit her. Qian Qian, witnessing his outburst, realized that Hou Jue had developed deep feelings for Wu Shiyi. Later, Hou Jue, drinking with Hai Xing, recounted his distress at seeing Wu Shiyi repeatedly thrown during training.
Overcome by alcohol, he decided he would enroll in the class himself, vowing to sit there and prevent anyone from hurting her. He expressed his determination to scold anyone who touched her, or even beg them to be gentle, and if all else failed, he would bribe the entire class with red envelopes. Hai Xing noted that Hou Jue had "fallen in love" and that his feelings were clearly beyond ordinary friendship.
Zhou Quan and Hai Xing secretly messaged Wu Shiyi, sending her a photo of the inebriated Hou Jue. Zhou Quan then took a very drunk Hou Jue home, where Sister Zhang, seeing his state, sighed with concern. The next day, Hou Zhirong confronted Hou Jue about Wu Shiyi’s situation, suggesting they terminate her contract as per policy regarding employee misconduct. Hou Jue objected, asserting Wu Shiyi's innocence.
Hou Zhirong acknowledged Wu Shiyi as an excellent bodyguard but stressed the severe career implications of a theft accusation and the company’s need to protect its reputation. He knew Fang Lu was responsible and blamed Hou Jue's "Online celebrity" girlfriend. Hou Jue quickly clarified that Fang Lu was not his girlfriend, explaining that the wedding dress incident was merely for a TV show. Relieved, Hou Zhirong still maintained that Wu Shiyi could not return until the investigation was complete.
In the office, Hou Jue caused a stir by moving his own desk to Wu Shiyi’s former spot and arranging a new one for Zhou Quan, to the amusement and confusion of the design department, before retreating to his office under their curious stares. Meanwhile, Zhang Yingnan encountered Mr. Li at the cinema, both going to see "dog-like holiday" alone. They decided to watch it together.
After the movie, Mr. Li, visibly moved and tearful, excused himself to the restroom, acknowledging that he was "shallow-eyed" but valued genuine emotion. As Zhang Yingnan waited, she spotted Wu Tianyi working as a mascot in the mall. She offered him an ice cream and gently wiped his sweat. Mr. Li, seeing their interaction from afar, discreetly left.
Wu Tianyi playfully questioned Zhang Yingnan about a possible date, but she dismissed him, stating that her dating life was none of his concern. At the training center, Hou Jue attempted to enroll in Wu Shiyi's class but was informed that the quota was full and the next session wouldn't be for six months. Despite his offers of double, then five times the tuition, the instructor refused, citing the need to maintain teaching quality and focus on small classes.
When offered a spot if someone withdrew, Hou Jue immediately demanded that Hai Xing give up his place. Hai Xing refused, and the two were asked to take their discussion outside. Hou Jue chastised Hai Xing for his lack of "dedication," to which Hai Xing sarcastically suggested that Hou Jue simply buy the entire company if he couldn't wait.
