Love Me If You Dare Episode 23 Recap
> Love Me If You Dare Recap
Late at night, Susan arrived at Ewan Stan’s house, only to discover him shot dead. Meanwhile, Fu Ziyu continued his investigation into Xie Han's identity. He explained that although Xie Han's files initially appeared complete, a deep dive into the digital timestamps revealed that every entry was created at the same time, confirming it as a fabricated identity.
Fu Ziyu surmised that the true individual behind the "Xie Han" persona, based on the initial fingerprints, was a writer named Mei Jun Yuan. However, Mei Jun Yuan's passport number also proved to be fake. Susan believed someone was actively working to erase all evidence of Bo Jinyan’s innocence, citing the missing files and Ewan’s murder.
An FBI colleague, however, presented an alternative theory: that Ewan had known about Bo Jinyan's dual personality since he was a child but kept it secret. The colleague claimed this personality re-emerged when Bo Jinyan was tortured by the Flower Cannibal, leading him to commit murders. He then presented a video purportedly showing Bo Jinyan discussing the murder of a blonde girl, whom he claimed to have buried in an abandoned softball field in Riggs Park.
Bo Jinyan later asserted to Jian Yao that the video was a fake intended to lure Tommy. Despite Susan's defense, the FBI obtained a warrant to formally investigate and arrest Bo Jinyan. Distraught by Ewan’s death, which he likened to losing a father, Bo Jinyan saw it as part of a calculated plot to push him into an abyss.
He insisted that he could not be arrested, as losing his freedom would mean losing the ability to defeat the true mastermind. He also sent a message to Jian Yao, promising to return to her as long as he drew breath. Fu Ziyu’s investigation revealed that Mei Jun Yuan was in an Alaskan prison during Tommy’s most active period, definitively proving that "Xie Han" could not have been Tommy's mentor.
Soon after, Susan's colleague informed her that a body had indeed been found at the Riggs Park softball field. A silver pendant belonging to Bo Jinyan was also discovered with the body. When questioned, Bo Jinyan’s mother identified the pendant as a family heirloom he had worn constantly until his rescue from captivity, after which he never wore it again. While Jian Yao refused to disclose Bo Jinyan’s whereabouts to the FBI, she was approached by Dr. Barnes.
He revealed that Li Xunran’s medical transfer documents from Hong Kong, which cited a critical condition, were inconsistent with his actual health. Suspecting deliberate manipulation, Dr. Barnes explained that his computer had been hacked and the data deleted, but he had a backup which he provided to Jian Yao on a USB drive. He was helping because Bo Jinyan had once saved his sister, Christina, convincing him that Bo Jinyan was not a killer.
Bo Jinyan later had Fu Ziyu ask the Hong Kong police to investigate the medical history discrepancies. Dr. Barnes subsequently met with Yin Ziqi, Bo Jinyan's sister, to arrange a secret meeting for them, providing her with an address. Meanwhile, Fu Ziyu told Susan that his contact had identified the hacker who breached Dr. Barnes's computer, but it was a dead end as the hacker had never met their employer.
That night, Bo Jinyan went to Ewan's house to investigate, simulating the murder and collecting evidence. He later met Yin Ziqi, giving her a blood sample and instructing her to deliver it to Fu Ziyu for analysis. As he was leaving, an unseen assailant shot him in the arm, but he managed to escape. Dr. Barnes treated Bo Jinyan's wound. When Bo Jinyan called Fu Ziyu, Fu Ziyu assured him that Jian Yao was safe and under FBI protection.
Noticing Bo Jinyan's weak voice, Fu Ziyu expressed concern, but Bo Jinyan evaded the question. Later, Bo Jinyan was startled awake by an intruder, knocked unconscious, and awoke to find himself bound by iron chains. A figure emerged from the shadows, revealing himself to be Lin Yiyang, who declared that he had designed an "impasse" for Bo Jinyan, one from which he would never escape.
