In Muyuan Hall, Feng Qingchen was busy diagnosing patients. Bi Yao and several other sorceresses also helped with dispensing medicine, and Muyuan Hall presented a peaceful scene. After the busy period, Feng Qingchen thanked the sorceresses for their help. They said they were ordered by Elder Tao Yao to assist, and besides, Feng Qingchen had saved them before.

Feng Qingchen hoped everyone would work together to help more common people, protect the Witch Clan, and uphold justice in the human world. After everyone dispersed, Feng Qingchen entrusted Bi Yao to investigate Yuan Ming. Cai Qian was just about to sneak out to play when she was caught red-handed by her father, Prime Minister Yin.

Prime Minister Yin knew his headstrong and willful daughter was spoiled by Consort Yin and wanted her to return to her room to learn needlework and quietly await marriage. However, the mischievous Cai Qian was not afraid of her father and decided to climb over the wall to escape. Shi Yi was also anxiously waiting outside the wall.

Cai Qian climbed onto the top of the wall and asked Shi Yi to catch her, but she unexpectedly lost her footing and fell. The two fell together, their lips touching, and the atmosphere became ambiguous for a moment. Cai Qian hastily got up and blamed Shi Yi for taking advantage of her. Shi Yi ran off with a red face, and Cai Qian pursued him relentlessly. Shi Yi bought a roasted goose for Cai Qian.

Cai Qian ate it while indignantly asking about Duo Xia's proposal to her fourth brother. She planned to meet this Princess of the A'chai Tribe if she got the chance. Feng Qingchen entered the Feng Mansion. Prime Minister Feng had Luan Fei lead Feng Qingchen around. Passing Xian Wu's former residence, Feng Qingchen was about to push the door open but was stopped by Luan Fei. It turned out that Prime Minister Feng did not like anyone entering there.

Feng Qingchen and Luan Fei called each other sisters, and Feng Qingchen asked if Luan Fei had anyone she fancied. Luan Fei, however, expressed her distress, saying that as an imperial female official, she could not casually discuss marriage, let alone marry a prince. Feng Qingchen was surprised, realizing that Luan Fei knew all the rules yet still secretly associated with Crown Prince Yuan Hao. If this matter were to be known, it would likely shake the Crown Prince's position.

Just then, a servant reported that Prince Zhan's Residence had sent gifts for Miss Feng Qingchen. When Feng Qingchen went to the front hall to see, they were all old items she had used in Prince Zhan's Residence. Yuan Zhan's care was truly all-encompassing. When Shi Yi learned about Yuan Zhan sending gifts, he urged his fourth brother to act quickly, otherwise Feng Qingchen would be snatched away by someone else.

Yuan Ling, however, ignored him, saying he was going to find Princess Duo Xia. By Breeze Lake Shore, Yuan Ling and Duo Xia walked side by side. Yuan Ling frankly admitted that his heart belonged to someone else and that he did not want his marriage to be dictated by others. Duo Xia was also an enlightened person; although she admired Yuan Ling, she would not force him. She believed their fate had not yet arrived.

Yuan Ling appreciated Duo Xia's free spirit and decided to be her friend, promising that if the A'chai Tribe ever faced difficulties, he would not stand idly by. Duo Xia, however, showed herself to be no less capable than a man, stating that if one day the A'chai Tribe went to war with the Liang State, she would not ask for Yuan Ling's help, only wishing that Great Wei would not take advantage of their vulnerability.

Yuan Ming and Luan Fei met in private. He could not wait any longer; he had to remove Yuan Hao from his position as Crown Prince as soon as possible. Luan Fei knew that with just one word from her, he could achieve his desire, but she yearned to hold a place in Yuan Ming's heart. Hearing this, Yuan Ming pulled Luan Fei into his arms and kissed her deeply.

Seeing this, Luan Fei became even more willing, ready to go through fire and water for the man she loved, without regret. As Luan Fei walked out of the room, she was coincidentally seen by Feng Qingchen. Only then did Feng Qingchen realize that Luan Fei was actually Yuan Ming's accomplice. As night fell, Feng Qingchen entered Xian Wu's room.

She still did not believe Prime Minister Feng's words that Xian Wu had died of severe illness in the second year after her marriage. As Feng Qingchen was looking around, Luan Fei pushed the door open, and Feng Qingchen quickly hid. Luan Fei knelt before the portrait of her elder sister Xian Wu and talked to herself.

Feng Qingchen grew even more suspicious of how many secrets Xian Wu held, so much so that even Luan Fei did not know the cause of her death. Feng Qingchen then went to see Ming Yan, learning that Lian Fei could no longer find any information, and Yuan Li was also fine. However, Feng Qingchen believed that Yuan Li, who had been in a daze in the temple for a long time, suddenly returning to sobriety was too suspicious.

Ming Yan also told Feng Qingchen the inside story of the Empress's matter. It turned out that the Empress had secretly summoned Elder Xi Xie into the palace, but Elder Tao Yao later received a message. Yet, when she brought people into the palace, they were heavily surrounded by the imperial guards. Yuan An claimed that the Empress died from a witch's curse, and the Witch Clan's harm to the Empress was an unforgivable crime.

He did not listen to Tao Yao's explanations and ordered the extermination of the Witch Clan. The reason behind all this was unknown to anyone until Tao Yao later discovered a letter from the Empress to Xi Xie, which stated that Ding Shui was not dead. Ding Shui was an elder of the Witch Clan, and Feng Qingchen speculated that the deaths of the Empress and Xian Wu were inextricably linked to Ding Shui.

Yuan Hao came to inquire about Yuan Ling's feelings regarding the marriage alliance. Yuan Ling, however, said that he had already rejected Princess Duo Xia. Yuan Hao felt a great sense of foreboding upon hearing this. Today, their Imperial Father had already received the national letter from the A'chai Tribe and was quite serious about the marriage alliance.

If Yuan Ling did not have a suitable reason to refuse this marriage, he was afraid it would lead to a dispute with their Imperial Father. Yuan Ling came to Muyuan Hall late at night. Feng Qingchen talked to him about Lian Fei, only then realizing that Lian Fei had lived a quiet life all these years, being very indifferent not only to Yuan An but also to Yuan Ling, unwilling to let them enter Lianchi Palace freely.

Yuan Ling confessed to Feng Qingchen that he had already rejected Duo Xia, because the Princess Ling he desired was right in front of him. Feng Qingchen, upon hearing this, still cruelly claimed that her heart already belonged to someone else. Yuan Ling felt deeply disappointed and left with a flick of his sleeve. Feng Qingchen was heartbroken. How could Yuan Ling know that the person in her heart was him?

But if she could trade her heart for his life, what did a piercing pain matter? Yuan Ling returned to his residence, heavily burdened with worries, sitting at his desk with his chin resting on his hand. The night was as dark as ink, but it was not as deep as his affectionate eyes.
