In 2006, Zhao Qiaoyi and Hao Wuyi went shopping together to pick out New Year cards. After Yan Mo's mother returned home, she bought a large pile of vegetables to cook for her son, but she burned the dishes, so in the end, the two could only choose to eat sandwiches. When Yan Mo's mother was tidying up his clothes, she found a cartoon T-shirt in his wardrobe.
Yan Mo had never worn such clothes before, and she immediately felt very curious. Hao Wuyi personally found Da Xiong and gave him a New Year's card she had carefully chosen as a New Year gift. Da Xiong, however, didn't care about it at all. Fei Dachuan came to Yan Mo's home, and Yan Mo's mother asked Fei Dachuan about the cartoon T-shirt in Yan Mo's wardrobe. It was then that Yan Mo's mother learned that this T-shirt was given to him by a female classmate from his class, Zhao Qiaoyi. With a woman's intuition, Yan Mo's mother felt that Yan Mo's relationship with this female classmate was definitely not simple, so she immediately followed up with questions about Zhao Qiaoyi.
Zhao Qiaoyi also wanted to own a pair of genuine shoes, but she knew her family wasn't wealthy. Zhao Qiaoyi's mother was even more reluctant to spend that much money. In the end, Zhao Qiaoyi's mother took Zhao Qiaoyi directly to browse street stalls, but they unexpectedly ran into Yan Mo.
Seeing Yan Mo, Zhao Qiaoyi felt her self-esteem shatter completely and was utterly mortified. Her mother saw Yan Mo kept looking at Zhao Qiaoyi and thought she was Yan Mo's classmate. But Yan Mo flatly denied it, not wanting his mother to know that she was Zhao Qiaoyi, and led his mother away directly. Yan Mo had a cold for several days and hadn't gotten better, but he was unwilling to take medicine.
Zhao Qiaoyi's persuasion was useless, so Zhao Qiaoyi came up with an idea: pour ice on her own bed to catch a cold herself, so she would have a reason to make Yan Mo take medicine together. When she took the medicine to Yan Mo, he said his cold was already better. Zhao Qiaoyi then stood by silently, unwilling to talk to him.
After Yan Mo returned home, he told his mother about Zhao Qiaoyi being angry, hoping for her help. His mother suggested giving the girl a gift to apologize, but Yan Mo refused, saying he had another way. Teacher Gao proudly showed off in the office because he received a New Year card from his student Hao Wuyi. Unexpectedly, another teacher subtly opened a drawer full of New Year cards, which made Teacher Gao look bad by comparison.
When Teacher Gao opened the card from Hao Wuyi, he saw it was an ambiguous confession letter and was immediately startled. Zhao Qiaoyi was unhappy for several days. Her stepfather Tian Weimin had been observing this and talked with his wife Zhao Suying, telling her to be fair to their children. The next day, Teacher Gao held a parent-teacher meeting. Zhao Qiaoyi's mother Zhao Suying attended as Zhao Guanchao's parent, while her stepfather Tian Weimin attended as Zhao Qiaoyi's parent.
Before the meeting started, Yan Mo's mother carefully observed Zhao Qiaoyi's father and actively and warmly tried to befriend him. Hao Wuyi was from a single-parent family; her father passed away early. Her mother was a strong businesswoman, always busy with work and neglecting Hao Wuyi's well-being. She was even late for the parent-teacher meeting because of a business talk.
After the meeting, Teacher Gao spoke privately with Hao Wuyi's mother and subtly hinted that Hao Wuyi might have a crush on a teacher, and showed her the New Year card Hao Wuyi had given him. Hao Wuyi and her mother suddenly had a heated argument on the way home. Hao Wuyi's mother told Hao Wuyi what Teacher Gao had said, and Hao Wuyi felt things were bad.
At this moment, she was more concerned that Da Xiong might misunderstand her, so she immediately ran to find Da Xiong to explain things clearly. She explained to Da Xiong about sending the wrong New Year card and hoped he wouldn't be angry. Da Xiong, however, felt a bit confused and didn't care about it at all; he hadn't even opened and read the content of the card. Fei Dachuan invited Yan Mo to play basketball together.
Yan Mo took off his jacket, and everyone was stunned to see the cartoon T-shirt he was wearing. As Zhao Qiaoyi walked past the basketball court, she also saw Yan Mo wearing the T-shirt she had given him. She secretly chuckled to herself, and all her unhappiness instantly vanished. When Yan Mo was resting during the game, Zhao Qiaoyi specially bought him a bottle of water.
When Zhao Qiaoyi woke up early in the morning, she received the pair of trendy shoes she wanted, bought by Zhao Guanchao with the money he earned from part-time work. Yan Mo also received a gift of love. It was then that Zhao Qiaoyi realized that the people who appeared in her life and deeply loved her were the greatest gifts bestowed by heaven.
