I Know l Love You Episode 18 Recap
> I Know l Love You Recap
While Zhao Jin was busy at the veterinary clinic tending to injured cats, Xu Nuo called him. He missed her call, which made Xu Nuo anxious. When he called her back, Xu Nuo confessed, "If you don't answer your phone, I will be a little nervous. But I just want to call you all the time to know what you're doing."
She admitted to being overly anxious, but then playfully chided him for not being as free as her to just leave work. Zhao Jin then sent her a message suggesting they have dinner at his father's house that night. Xu Nuo initially found it a bit rushed, but Zhao Jin reminded her that she had wanted to meet his father, and he would be busy with a wedding later.
Xu Nuo quickly agreed and asked him to include Xiao Qin as well. Before hanging up, Xu Nuo told Zhao Jin, "You are occupying my heart. Don't be uncontactable." Zhao Jin reassured her to go home and avoid getting a cold. After his call with Xu Nuo, Zhao Jin immediately phoned his father, informing him that he would bring his girlfriend home for dinner. His father was overjoyed, exclaiming, "What? Girlfriend? When did you get a girlfriend?"
Zhao Jin explained it was "the girlfriend who's getting married soon," and his father eagerly offered to prepare fresh seafood. Zhao Jin, recalling Xu Nuo's worry about him being uncontactable, adjusted his phone's ringtone to the maximum volume. Later that evening, Zhao Jin, Xu Nuo, and Xiao Qin arrived at Zhao Jin's childhood home by the sea. Zhao Jin's father warmly welcomed Xu Nuo, proudly mentioning he had caught the seafood himself.
He toasted to Xu Nuo, expressing gratitude for her taking care of both Zhao Jin and Xiao Qin, who now worked for her. Xu Nuo praised Xiao Qin, assuring his father that she was a great help at her store. Zhao Jin playfully remarked to his father, "It's like a daughter's wedding. It seems like I'm your son-in-law." During dinner, Zhao Jin's phone rang loudly.
He initially hung up an incoming video call, but when it rang again, everyone at the table grew curious. Zhao Jin showed them the phone, and Xu Nuo encouraged him to answer. It was his ex-wife, Tian Muchu's, son, Shitou, calling for his "Uncle Goofy." Shitou reminded Zhao Jin of his promise to celebrate his birthday. Zhao Jin's father thought he should not go, but Xu Nuo generously insisted, "Go ahead. Don't let the kid think you're lying to him."
When Zhao Jin asked what she would do if he went, Xu Nuo replied, "I'll go with you." Xiao Qin then suggested they all go together, which everyone agreed to. At the birthday party, Shitou touchingly wished he could see his "Uncle Goofy" every day. Later that night, after dropping Xiao Qin home, Zhao Jin tried to talk with a quiet Xu Nuo, admitting he was "a little scared" by her silence.
Xu Nuo asked him to park the car so she could walk. She expressed that while she wasn't angry, she felt a profound "hurt that I can do nothing to make up." She explained that after learning he was married, she wondered about his ex-wife. But after seeing Tian Muchu, she realized, "Seeing her is like seeing your other family. She was still there. She was part of your life. A very important part."
Zhao Jin reassured her, emphasizing the present and future of their relationship. The conversation then shifted to Xu Nuo's mother, who believes that relationships need long-term cultivation, not just "love at first sight." Xu Nuo elaborated that her mother's past experiences made her wary of quick attachments. Despite her mother's previous failed relationships, she now desired to remarry Xu Nuo's father out of habit, rather than deep romantic feelings. This led Xu Nuo to fear losing Zhao Jin.
He comforted her, saying, "One more minute between you and me. More chances we will win. You can't keep thinking about the past. You have to think about the future." Xu Nuo, however, pondered whether getting used to living with someone truly signified deep love or just habit, noting, "The older I get, the less I want to change." Zhao Jin concluded, "As for you and me, all you need to know is that you like me. I like you.
You don't even have to ask why. Just ignore others. And make it last for the rest of my life." The next day, Shi Ran visited Xu Nuo, already aware of her attending Shitou's birthday party. Shi Ran commented on Xu Nuo's tired appearance, attributing it to a bad mood and lack of sleep. She then advised Xu Nuo that they were past the age of superficial beauty and should prioritize spending time with loved ones.
Shi Ran also shared her own relationship frustrations, questioning whether people truly change and referencing Xu Nuo's past with Peng Yuan. During their conversation, Peng Yuan called Xu Nuo, inviting her to meet him, which she agreed to do after work. Meanwhile, Shi Ran went to the martial arts gym to find Xu Yang, unexpectedly walking into the men's locker room while he was changing.
Startled, Xu Yang questioned her presence, but Shi Ran explained she came after he didn't reply to her texts. She immediately brought up the topic of their wedding, asking about his preferences for location, style, and season. Xu Yang's non-committal answers like "I'm okay with all of them" and "Any season is fine" frustrated Shi Ran, who then challenged him, "So you'll be fine no matter who is the bride. Right?" Xu Yang clarified, "Definitely not.
This bride has to be you." Shi Ran pressed him about marriage, and when he admitted he had thought about it, she broke down in tears, feeling she was the only one putting effort into their relationship. Xu Yang, flustered, tried to console her. Later, Peng Yuan met Xu Nuo at a cafe, reminiscing about their first date. He then unexpectedly proposed, saying, "Marry me. Let's get married. If you don't agree, I'm not getting up."
Xu Nuo hesitated, stating, "I really can't accept it." To force her hand, Peng Yuan hid the engagement ring in a slice of cake. Xu Nuo was taken aback by the cliché proposal, but eventually accepted the ring. When Xu Nuo met with Shi Ran again, Shi Ran, still upset from her encounter with Xu Yang, complained about Xu Nuo not comforting her. Xu Nuo then showed Shi Ran the engagement ring from Peng Yuan.
Shi Ran was shocked, demanding to know why Xu Nuo accepted it. Xu Nuo explained that Peng Yuan had forced it on her, and she couldn't rudely reject it outright, intending to return it later. She clarified that she no longer had feelings or even anger towards Peng Yuan. Soon after, Zhao Jin received a call from Da Hao, who informed him that Peng Yuan was telling people he was marrying Xu Nuo.
Da Hao believed Peng Yuan wanted Zhao Jin to hear the news. Zhao Jin deduced Peng Yuan's intentions. When Zhao Jin encountered Peng Yuan, Peng Yuan taunted him by asking Da Hao if he had "finished reporting" to Zhao Jin, confirming his manipulation. Zhao Jin later called Peng Yuan, insisting they meet. Peng Yuan initially tried to avoid him, but they eventually confronted each other. Zhao Jin accused Peng Yuan of torturing Xu Nuo.
Peng Yuan questioned Zhao Jin's qualifications, but Zhao Jin asserted, "Compared to losing Xu Nuo, the things you do behind the scenes are signals of being afraid of losing." Peng Yuan tried to discourage Zhao Jin by implying Xu Nuo's parents would not accept him, but Zhao Jin stated that Xu Nuo's acceptance was more important. Peng Yuan offered to back down if Zhao Jin did, but Zhao Jin retorted, "Something you can't even do yourself.
Don't ask others to do it." Peng Yuan then threatened Zhao Jin about the humiliation he would face when meeting Xu Nuo's parents. Zhao Jin, with newfound resolve, declared, "I'll give up." When Peng Yuan seemed surprised, Zhao Jin clarified, "I'm talking about you. I tried to respect you before, but now I won't. What I'm giving up is you."
