Joy of Life Episode 12 Recap
> Joy of Life Recap
After the maid left, Ye Ling'er quietly asked the feigning sleep Lin Wan'er where Fan Xian was. Just then, Fan Xian, who had been holding his breath and hiding under the quilt, finally poked his head out. Lin Wan'er awkwardly explained this was an emergency measure. Ye Ling'er held the chicken leg, not daring to look around randomly, and quickly left to continue keeping watch outside. Fan Xian played rogue on the bed and refused to get up.
Lin Wan'er was both shy and annoyed. Fan Xian only got up and sat on the edge of the bed when he saw she was anxious, sighing that his luck was truly too good. Accidentally meeting a girl he liked, who turned out to be his fiancée, this was a destined fate from heaven. Lin Wan'er sourly questioned his relationship with Si Lili.
Fan Xian quickly explained that he was innocent regarding her, saying all the trouble he caused before was for breaking off the engagement. He even thought that if His Majesty didn't agree, he would elope with her. Now that he knew she was that person, things were easy. Hearing his words, Lin Wan'er's heart was filled with joy, but she regretted that she suffered from consumption and was not that little maid who could go far away with him.
Fan Xian comforted Lin Wan'er, saying that as long as she took care, consumption could also be cured, and he would definitely cure her. The misunderstanding was resolved, but Fan Xian was still reluctant to leave. He sat by the bed and told Lin Wan'er stories to coax her to sleep. However, when modern love stories were viewed in ancient times, although Lin Wan'er envied them, she couldn't understand them.
Seeing Fan Xian's anxious look, Lin Wan'er told him to just tell her stories from Red Mansions in the future. After Fan Xian saw her slowly fall asleep, he quietly left. Both of them forgot that Ye Ling'er was still outside the door. The poor girl foolishly stood guard in the cold wind all night. Early the next morning, Lin Wan'er woke up refreshed. She saw the note Fan Xian left on the desk.
It read "Holding your hand, growing old together with you". She only felt the joy in her heart about to overflow. She unconsciously walked to the window and opened it, as if she could see Fan Xian this way. Ye Ling'er came to remind her to be careful of catching a cold from the wind. But before Wan'er had done anything, she sneezed several times. Seeing this, Lin Wan'er quickly asked Late Autumn to make her the Cold Spirit Powder.
Ye Ling'er didn't take this slight cold to heart. Since Lin Wan'er had someone she liked, she planned to go to the Fan mansion after breakfast to challenge Fan Xian, determined to beat him until he broke off the engagement himself. Lin Wan'er quickly stopped her and told her that Fan Xian was the person she liked. Although Ye Ling'er didn't understand the twists and turns involved, she still couldn't feel at ease in her heart.
She decided to go find Si Lili to find out what the relationship between the two was. The Eldest Princess summoned Lin Wan'er into the palace and happily told her good news: the engagement between Lin Wan'er and Fan Xian should be dissolved soon. Hearing this, Lin Wan'er was not happy but worried instead. She murmured, "Isn't this an imperial decree?" The Eldest Princess didn't notice her unease and explained that this was not a clear imperial decree after all.
Moreover, somehow the Second Prince also heard about this matter and was trying to help her break off the engagement. Coupled with her own wishes, it was highly likely to succeed. Seeing that the situation was not good, Lin Wan'er then stammered, "Actually, there's no need to be so rushed." The astute Eldest Princess immediately understood her hidden meaning. She didn't show anger on her face and only asked her what she was really thinking.
Wan'er explained that her previous eagerness to break off the engagement was due to a misunderstanding. The Eldest Princess pressed her on how the misunderstanding was resolved, asking if she had met Fan Xian. Lin Wan'er quickly shook her head. The Eldest Princess was reluctant to force her daughter and could only say, "Since you don't want to, then the matter of breaking off the engagement will not be rushed for now. We'll see later."
Fan Xian was busy in the kitchen early in the morning and made a sandwich breakfast in a good mood. Even though Teng Zijing was expressionless, it didn't dampen his good mood at all. Prince Jing's Heir came to find Fan Xian on behalf of the Second Prince, arranging to meet him tomorrow at Zui Xian Ju.
On the other side, Ye Ling'er approached Si Lili's pleasure boat by boat, but unexpectedly found the maid on the boat lying on the ground. When she approached to check, she found she was dead. She walked further into the boat and unexpectedly saw Si Lili talking with two women in white clothes and handing a token to one of them. She eavesdropped outside the room but accidentally sneezed because of her cold.
Seeing that the people inside were alarmed, she ran away but was still stabbed. Fortunately, she jumped into the water in time and escaped. Fan Xian carefully brewed a good medicine to clear the lungs and stop coughing for Wan'er. He also specially made a sachet extracted from over eighty kinds of flowers and leaves. But to Teng Zijing's nose, it smelled like five-spice duck. Fan Xian ignored this person who didn't understand romance.
Wearing night clothes, he skillfully climbed through the window into Wan'er's room. Lin Wan'er knew he was coming and had already sent everyone else away. It was just that she was a well-bred young lady after all, and she still felt that Fan Xian's behavior of climbing walls late at night was very abrupt. Fan Xian took out the medicine he had brewed himself, explaining that he wasn't being disrespectful but wanted to treat her illness.
Unexpectedly, Lin Wan'er suddenly fell asleep after drinking the medicine. Her face was flushed red and she was disoriented. Fan Xian quickly carried her back to bed to rest. Fan Xian sat by the bed watching Wan'er sleep and told her the secret he had always hidden in his heart. Actually, he usually joked around, but his heart was especially lonely. It wasn't until he met Wan'er that he felt this world became meaningful.
On the way back, Fan Xian ran alone on the empty street like a child, finally finding the direction of home. The next day, Fan Xian prepared to go to the Second Prince's appointment. Ruoruo was worried about him and wanted to go with him. She knew the Second Prince wanted to win her brother over.
Fan Xian understood that matters like princes contending for the throne could easily bring disaster upon the whole family, and he just wanted to stay away from it. Ruoruo, however, felt that after the last courtroom trial, the Crown Prince had remained hidden and inactive, which was worrying. Fan Xian comforted her, saying the Crown Prince couldn't just chop him down in the street. After saying that, he and Teng Zijing drove to Zui Xian Ju.
What he didn't know was that in a hidden house in the capital, two women released Cheng Jushu, an eighth-rank expert from Northern Qi, who had been locked in a box. It was precisely their intention to catch him off guard and take his life.
