Ye Ling'er came to find Lin Wan'er, wanting to tell her that Lin Gong was the mastermind behind the Niulan Street assassination, hoping Lin Wan'er would leak it to Fan Xian. Due to her urgency, she kept coughing. Lin Wan'er hurried off to get medicine, but when she returned, Ye Ling'er was already gone. The room showed no signs of struggle—only the window was wide open.

Li Chengze felt the matter of Lin Gong wouldn't be enough to completely bring down Fan Xian. He worried Ye Ling'er might tell Lin Wan'er that Fan Xian killed Lin Gong, so he sent people to kidnap her. Ye Ling'er suspected Li Chengze would reveal this during the wedding, causing Fan Xian and Lin Wan'er to turn against each other in public. Li Chengze flatly denied it and repeatedly swore he wouldn't harm his own sister Lin Wan'er.

Fan Xian reluctantly tried on wedding clothes all day until nightfall and still wasn’t done. Fan Ruoruo and Liu Ruyu remained enthusiastic, while Fan Xian grew increasingly impatient. Fan Jian sent Fan Sizhe to summon Fan Xian. Taking the opportunity to escape, Fan Xian complained bitterly in front of Fan Jian—why did he have to try on so many clothes that all looked the same?

Fan Jian advised him that good things come with effort; when he got married, he also endured the same. Crowds lined the streets to watch, and Lin Dabao also ran up to see the commotion. The flower carriage slowly arrived at the Fan residence. Fan Xian had been waiting at the gate. Knowing that returning to the capital without permission was a capital offense, she was confident Fan Xian wouldn’t dare report her to Qing Di. Li Yunrui wanted to see Lin Wan'er and agreed to a temporary truce with Fan Xian during the wedding. They could fight again afterward. Fan Xian took the box of ledgers straight to Chen Pingping, who was shocked after carefully reading them.

Under Li Yunrui's control, it had accrued a deficit of over 20 million taels of silver. Fan Xian realized she had left him with a bottomless pit to fill.

He also gave Fan Xian a letter to open after the wedding. The empress grew anxious for Fan Xian, fearing no one would dare do business with him anymore. If the deficit wasn’t covered within six months, Fan Xian would have to hand over the Inner Treasury. Li Chengqian offered to help. Today was the joyous wedding day of Lin Wan'er and Fan Xian. Fan Xian kept it simple, inviting only two princes and Prince Jing’s heir, Li Hongcheng. Li Yunrui secretly came to see Lin Wan'er. Learning that she returned to the capital without permission, Lin Wan'er worried she would be punished. Lin Wan'er watched her back with tears streaming down her face. Li Chengze released Ye Ling'er and took her to attend the wedding at the Fan residence. Li Hongcheng and Li Chengru arrived early to congratulate Fan Xian. Li Hongcheng asked Fan Xian to bless his marriage with Fan Ruoruo and swore he had nothing more to do with Yuan Meng. Fan Xian agreed to forgive him, but Fan Ruoruo still refused to marry him.

Li Chengqian brought lavish gifts to the Fan residence. The young emperor of Northern Qi, Zhan Doudou, sent a letter urgently from 800 li away. In it, she urged Fan Xian to update Dream of the Red Chamber and requested Fan Ruoruo become Great Grandmaster Ku He’s last disciple. Fan Xian asked Wang Qinian to let Qing Di read the letter. Li Hongcheng was dumbfounded—the four Great Grandmasters stood above all monarchs.

With Fan Ruoruo heading to Northern Qi to study under one of them, his marriage hopes were dashed. Fan Xian tried to comfort him and dragged him off to drink wedding wine. Li Chengze arrived with Ye Ling'er. She repeatedly warned him not to stir trouble at the wedding or she wouldn’t let it slide. Li Chengqian wanted to help Fan Xian but lacked the funds.

Seeing Fan Xian’s ties to Northern Qi, he reminded him not to use Northern Qi's money to fill the Inner Treasury deficit. Li Chengqian felt relieved Li Chengze had been grounded and wouldn't come to the wedding—only to be shocked when Li Chengze appeared with Ye Ling'er. Li Hongcheng quietly slipped away. Li Chengze offered 500,000 taels in silver notes as a wedding gift to help Fan Xian in his hour of need.

Li Chengqian, unwilling to be outdone, also sought to win Fan Xian over. Both brothers fought to recruit him, while Li Chengru silently watched. Fan Xian accepted only one silver note, thanked Li Chengze for his generosity, and politely declined Li Chengqian’s invitation, instead asking them to witness the ceremony together. The wedding officially began. Fan Ruoruo accompanied Lin Wan'er into the hall, handing one end of the red embroidered ball to Fan Xian.

Together, they bowed to Fan Jian and Liu Ruyu. Li Chengze came up to watch. Worried he’d cause trouble, Ye Ling'er quickly tugged his sleeve. Suddenly, Lin Dabao appeared and pulled Lin Wan'er aside to say something. Everyone was stunned. Lin Dabao conveyed Lin Ruofu's message: “Lin Wan'er, take good care of Lin Dabao. ” Lin Wan'er agreed readily, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
