Li Chengze ignored Ye Ling'er’s objections and directly swallowed the antidote Fan Xian gave him. Worried that he might be poisoned, he asked Ye Ling'er to escort him back home so she could collect his body in time if needed. Chen Pingping was concerned about Fan Xian’s injuries and wanted to see him. Wang Qinian drove the carriage, taking Fan Xian and Lin Wan'er to Chen Pingping’s residence in the suburbs—Chen Garden.

Along the way, Lin Wan'er kept silent out of anger, and Fan Xian tried hard to make conversation to ease the awkwardness. It wasn’t until he mentioned Chen Pingping that Lin Wan'er finally spoke. Fan Xian repeatedly explained that the rumors spread by Li Chengze about him and Haitang Duoduo were entirely false and even asked Wang Qinian to testify on his behalf. Lin Wan'er read aloud the poem about Haitang, and Fan Xian explained that he had copied it.

Lin Wan'er didn’t believe him at all. When Fan Xian was escorting Shawn to Northern Qi, Haitang, under her teacher Ku He’s orders, came to assassinate Shawn. In a desperate moment, Fan Xian recited the poem purely to save his own life. Lin Wan'er wouldn't let it go and brought up how Fan Xian and Haitang Duoduo had danced together at the Empress Dowager’s birthday banquet. Fan Xian swore it was just an act during a martial arts competition.

Lin Wan'er then asked him to write her a poem, putting Fan Xian in a difficult position—he had copied all his previous poems, but he had to write this one himself. Fan Xian took the opportunity to act cute in front of Lin Wan'er, making her laugh and cry in exasperation. Chen Pingping lived in the remote Chen Garden, a paradise-like place with extraordinary scenery.

As soon as Fan Xian entered, he saw many beautiful young women playing and laughing in the garden. Both Fan Xian and Lin Wan'er were startled by the sight—this place seemed to gather all the beautiful girls in the world, their laughter echoing throughout Chen Garden. A group of women in red danced gracefully in the garden. Chen Pingping reclined on a soft couch, enjoying the performance.

A young soldier accompanied him, occasionally stretching his sore back from sitting too long. From Lin Wan'er, Fan Xian learned that the man was Qin Heng, son of Qin Ye. The Qin family had led troops for generations, and Qin Heng was destined to become a pillar of the military. Qin Heng nodded politely to Fan Xian and Lin Wan'er.

Since Chen Pingping was enjoying the show, Fan Xian didn’t want to disturb him and sat with Lin Wan'er in a nearby pavilion. After the performance, an old man came onstage with a pipa and sang the poem Fan Xian had recited at the poetry gathering at Prince Jing’s mansion. Qin Heng approached to greet Fan Xian. Seeing this, Chen Pingping quickly called Lin Wan'er over, leaving Qin Heng to speak with Fan Xian himself.

Fan Xian mentioned seeing Qin Ye dozing off in the grand hall. Qin Heng revealed that Qin Ye couldn’t sleep at home and only attended court to catch up on sleep, which Fan Xian found amusing. After the song, the old man left, leaving Chen Pingping wanting more, but since he never forced the old man, he invited Lin Wan'er to join him for tea in his room. Ye Ling'er escorted Li Chengze back home.

Having survived after taking the antidote, Li Chengze felt mixed emotions and began to harbor suspicions about Fan Xian. Qin Heng explained his visit—though the Qin family had ties to Li Chengze, they never participated in the power struggles among the princes. He begged Fan Xian not to implicate the Qin family. Fan Xian promised that as long as the Qin family was not corrupt, they wouldn’t be harmed, which reassured Qin Heng.

Fan Xian had intended to use Li Chengze to thoroughly investigate corruption among court officials, but unexpectedly, it caused widespread panic among the ministers. He honestly shared his concerns with Chen Pingping. Chen Pingping told him to start by eliminating himself, a major corrupt figure, then gave Fan Xian a wheelchair so he could continue feigning illness, and gifted Lin Wan'er a box of priceless jewels.

After days of secret investigation, Deng Ziyue finally identified the three assailants involved in the incident at Baoyue Brothel and had them all arrested. He then sent someone to inform Chen Pingping. Fan Xian vowed to seek justice for the deceased Lao Jintou and Miss Jin. Chen Pingping was eager to know if Fan Xian had poisoned Li Chengze. Fan Xian originally intended to, but Ye Ling'er’s words changed his mind.

He decided instead to use the laws of Qing to punish Li Chengze and bring peace to the people, fulfilling Ye Qingmei’s wish etched in stone. Fan Xian wanted to honor her last wish. Fan Xian hurried back, only to find that the three assailants claimed he was the mastermind behind the attack. Fan Xian suspected they were Li Chengze’s trained death soldiers, deliberately getting caught to frame him.

The Capital Magistrate’s Office sent people to take the three into custody, and they named Fan Xian as the ringleader. Li Chengze, closely connected with the Magistrate’s Office, didn’t want to arouse suspicion, so he had the three transferred to the Ministry of Justice. Lin Ruofu, upon hearing the news, became worried for Fan Xian and summoned him home. Dabao was overjoyed to see Fan Xian again.

Lin Ruofu suggested Fan Xian shift the blame to Fan Sizhe, but Fan Xian firmly refused. If he sacrificed Fan Sizhe now to save himself, how could he protect Dabao in the future? Lin Ruofu didn’t press the issue. Fan Xian had already figured out a strategy—he discovered that the three assailants were all murderers with blood on their hands. As soon as the Ministry of Justice took the three suspects out of the capital, they were silenced.

The ministry’s men managed to capture only one—Li Chengze’s retainer, Fan Wujiao. When Li Chengze heard this, he was dumbfounded. Ye Ling'er suspected Li Chengze had not only framed Fan Xian but also murdered the three to cover his tracks.
