In the devastated City of Bladed Snow, the Ice King, the Ice Queen, and Lian Ji were held captive by the Fire King. He brought forward what appeared to be Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi, threatening their lives to force the Ice King to reveal the location of the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal. The Fire King, known as Huo Yi, confirmed that the younger prince had not yet died, but his fate depended entirely on the Ice King.
When asked what he truly wanted, Huo Yi stated his desire for the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal, believing that just as his Holy Fire could destroy the Ice Veil, there must be something to rebuild it. He promised to spare the two young princes if the Ice King divulged the crystals' whereabouts. The Ice King staunchly refused.
As the Fire King feigned harming Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi, Lian Ji cried out, accusing the Ice King of being more cruel than Huo Yi for risking their son. The Ice Queen intervened, declaring that while the Ice King had to prioritize the Ice Tribe, she, as a mother, could not bear to watch another child die before her eyes.
Despite the Ice King's protests, she took the blame upon herself, revealing that years ago, the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal had been dispersed among tribes in the mortal realm, and she no longer knew their exact locations. Realizing he had the information he needed, the Fire King had the illusory Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi disappear, confirming they were merely fakes. The Ice King demanded the return of his actual sons.
Huo Yi smugly stated that their precious children were well in the three realms, but hinted that the younger prince might soon "reunite" with his family. The Fire King then ordered his guards to keep the Ice King and Ice Queen imprisoned and took Lian Ji with him.
The Ice Queen was distraught, blaming herself, but the Ice King comforted her, believing that Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi were alive and Ka Suo would surely find the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal to save the Ice Tribe. Meanwhile, Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi were fleeing from the Fire Tribe army. Ke Tuo, injured but determined, opened a secret passage on the Endless Bridge for them to escape. He urged them to go first, promising to cover their retreat.
As Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi reached a seemingly dead end, Ke Tuo revealed the key to the Endless Bridge was with him and told them to make haste. Just then, Fire Tribe Princess Yan Da appeared, blocking their path, but Prince Shuo Gang soon arrived. Accusing his sister of having a soft spot for the Ice Tribe, he destroyed the Endless Bridge himself and ordered his men to find Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi, dead or alive.
With no other option, Ka Suo grabbed Ying Kong Shi and leaped off the destroyed bridge. After their perilous escape, Ka Suo, unconscious, dreamt of a wise elder, who reassured him he was the future king and would not die. Elsewhere, Li Luo found the gravely wounded General Ke Tuo. With his last breath, Ke Tuo entrusted Li Luo, his most trusted realm guardian, with the sacred duty to protect Prince Ka Suo.
Li Luo solemnly promised to fulfill his request. Ke Tuo then passed away. Ka Suo awoke to find Ying Kong Shi sick, his body fluctuating between extreme cold and burning heat. Ka Suo promised to find a magical healer. Back in the City of Bladed Snow, Shuo Gang rallied the Ice Tribe citizens, declaring their king defeated and demanding their surrender to the Fire King. He displayed the remains of the fallen Ice princes and princesses as a grim warning.
Yan Da argued that such harsh tactics would only provoke them, but Shuo Gang retorted that the Fire Tribe believed in survival of the fittest, not in emulating the Ice Tribe's morals. The Fire King arrived, sensing the tension. Yan Da assured him she would send anyone who angered her to the afterlife.
The Fire King then issued a decree across the three realms: anyone who aided Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi, who he claimed were inciting war to seize the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal, would be considered a traitor and executed without exception. Conversely, those who captured them and retrieved the crystal would be handsomely rewarded. In the mortal realm, Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi’s distinctive white hair drew stares from the villagers.
Ka Suo used his illusion magic to change their hair color to black, making them blend in. He then sought a "magical healer" for Ying Kong Shi. A local doctor explained that mortals refer to them as "doctors," not "magical healers," and quickly deduced that Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi were not mortals. After examining Ying Kong Shi, the doctor admitted his inability to treat the fluctuating hot and cold condition, suggesting they seek help from the Healer Tribe.
The doctor also mentioned that the Healer Tribe's entrance frequently changed, making it difficult to locate. Ying Kong Shi, feeling like a burden, tried to deter Ka Suo, but Ka Suo playfully threatened to seal his mouth with ice if he continued to speak negatively. Ka Suo noticed they were being followed. Confronting the tracker, he initially suspected the Fire King had sent him, but the man claimed to have seen them at the medical center and offered help.
He told Ka Suo that two Healer Tribe doctors were currently picking herbs on Mystic Mountain. When Ka Suo asked to be taken to them, the tracker cunningly hinted at the need for money. Ka Suo recalled Li Luo's previous warnings via messenger hawk about the differences in the mortal realm, where money was essential for purchasing goods. The tracker informed Ka Suo that at least fifty taels were needed to consult the Healer Tribe doctors.
Ka Suo, confident, promised to gather the money within a day. With renewed purpose, Ka Suo created beautiful, unmelting ice sculptures of his spirit animal, the snow lion. Ying Kong Shi, though initially skeptical about humans buying their creations, watched as Ka Suo called out to passersby, showcasing the unique sculptures. The mortals were charmed by the exquisite, unfading ice art, and soon, a crowd clamored to buy them, allowing Ka Suo to quickly earn the fifty taels.
The tracker then reappeared with two men, claiming they were the Healer Tribe doctors. Ka Suo, however, noticed their suspicious lack of medicinal scent. The tracker and his accomplices quickly turned hostile, drawing knives and holding Ying Kong Shi hostage. They demanded the secret to the unmelting ice sculptures, intending to profit from it, and threatened to kill Ying Kong Shi if Ka Suo refused. Disappointed by their cruelty, Ka Suo warned them to release his brother.
When they refused, Ka Suo used his illusion magic, sending them flying. Moments later, he felt a sudden weakness, his magic draining away. He remembered Li Luo's earlier warning: divine beings were forbidden from using magic to harm mortals, or they would become temporarily weaker than mortals. This realization struck fear in Ka Suo, as he understood the Fire Tribe could easily find them now.
Ying Kong Shi woke up, still feeling ill, and asked Ka Suo if they were safe. Ka Suo reassured him, promising to protect him. Suddenly, Yan Da appeared, having located them using a messenger owl. She easily bound the weakened Ka Suo, intending to take them both back to the Fire Tribe. But just as she prepared to leave, Li Luo dramatically intervened, attacking Yan Da’s forces and freeing Ka Suo.
However, in the ensuing struggle, Ying Kong Shi was captured. Despite his injuries and weakened state, Ka Suo insisted on saving his brother. Li Luo, knowing he stood no chance without his magic, tried to dissuade him, but Ka Suo remained resolute. To prevent him from rushing to certain death, Li Luo knocked him unconscious and carried him away to safety, leaving him in a guarded room.
Yan Da, frustrated at losing Ka Suo, ordered her subordinates to search the entire forest, confident that Ka Suo would eventually come for his brother. When Ka Suo awoke, he found his magic restored. Li Luo stood before him, introducing herself as the realm guardian Ke Tuo had sent to protect him. Ka Suo immediately recognized her as the voice he had long communicated with through the messenger hawk, and felt an unexpected flutter in his heart.
Li Luo offered him food, including various flower scents, explaining that gods derived energy from them, but Ka Suo insisted she eat the mortal food he had earned. Li Luo praised his ability to adapt to the mortal realm, recalling her previous jest that he might starve. Li Luo then quietly expressed concern about their precarious situation, with the Fire King actively searching for them.
She advised discretion and the preservation of strength to find the Six-Leaf Ice Crystal and eventually save the Ice King and Ice Queen. Noticing a tear in Ka Suo's clothing, and knowing he couldn't use magic to mend it without weakening himself again, Li Luo bought needle and thread from a vendor and personally stitched his garment.
While she worked, she reminded him not to use his magic to harm mortals again, acknowledging his reason but emphasizing the danger it posed to him. Ka Suo then suggested they drop formalities in the mortal realm, asking her to stop calling him "Your Highness" and simply use his name. Li Luo, initially hesitant, eventually agreed, calling him "Ka Suo" for the first time. They then resolved to find Ying Kong Shi.
As they prepared to leave, a re-dream spell was cast in the sky, projecting the horrific final moments of the Ice Tribe princes and princesses. Ka Suo immediately recognized the spell and, understanding Yan Da’s intent, was enraged. Yan Da's disembodied voice echoed from the projection, taunting Ka Suo and urging him to come find her if he wished to see his only remaining brother for the last time.
Ka Suo was driven by an uncontrollable urge to rescue Ying Kong Shi. Li Luo desperately tried to stop him, reasoning that Yan Da was deliberately provoking him into a suicide mission. Ka Suo refused to listen, asserting his duty to his brother. Li Luo reminded him that as a realm guardian, her mission was to protect him and prevent him from entering an inescapable situation.
When she continued to argue about the Fire Tribe's overwhelming numbers, Ka Suo used his ice magic to bind her with ice chains, telling her they would melt in three hours. He then declared that if she would not listen to him, she had no right to be his realm guardian and should no longer follow him. Li Luo screamed for him to stay, but he left her bound. Meanwhile, in his cell, Ying Kong Shi was enduring immense pain.
His body twitched and convulsed, and he struggled internally, telling himself that his brother would surely come to save him, and he had to endure. Suddenly, his power erupted, shattering his restraints and throwing him into a violent outburst of energy.
