Minister of Justice Fu Zongshu subjected Wang Xiaoshi to brutal torture, hanging him upside down from a beam. Despite the rope breaking, Wang Xiaoshi remained unyielding. Fu Zongshu acknowledged his toughness but ominously warned him that the world belonged to people like them, and he could not escape. Next, Fu Zongshu interrogated Bai Choufei, asking why he was in the Capital and why he chose to help Su Mengzhen instead of killing him to rise to power.

Bai Choufei retorted, questioning why a Minister of Justice would ignore egregious crimes to question his presence. Fu Zongshu asserted his absolute authority over the law, declaring he could deem any act a capital offense if displeased. Bai Choufei stated his ambition was to make a name for himself by helping Su Mengzhen, which would make him a great contributor to the House of Sunset Drizzle.

He emphasized that to achieve fame, one must be "selective," asserting that if one was willing to do anything, they would be no different from livestock—a clear jab at Fu Zongshu. Infuriated, Fu Zongshu ordered Bai Choufei thrown into a pool. Later, in the dark prison cell, a guard brought them repulsive, deboned human flesh, referring to them as "good dogs" to be tamed.

Wang Xiaoshi held Bai Choufei for warmth, and Bai Choufei silently recalled the haunting phrase: "The world belongs to us. . . there's no place to hide." Meanwhile, Wen Rou went to the House of Sanhe, searching for Zhu Xiaoyao. She angrily confronted Zhu, accusing her of seducing Wang Xiaoshi, who hadn't come home all night, while Bai Choufei was also missing. Zhu Xiaoyao provocatively teased Wen Rou about her feelings for Wang Xiaoshi.

Enraged, Wen Rou began smashing things, declaring she would trash the place. Bouncers forcibly threw her out, but just then, Yang Wuxie, the Floor Manager of House of Sunset Drizzle, arrived. Wen Rou appealed to him for help, but Yang Wuxie politely apologized to Miss Xiaoyao for the disturbance and pulled Wen Rou away. He reminded her that everyone in the Capital knew her identity as Su Mengzhen's martial sister and her ruckus would only cause trouble.

Yang Wuxie promised to find Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei, revealing they were seen being taken away by court officers in Syrup Alley last night and were likely captured as a power move against Su Mengzhen. He then escorted Wen Rou back to the House of Sunset Drizzle. As they arrived, two officials from the Ministry of Justice, Ren Lao and Ren Yuan, were waiting at the entrance with a "gift."

Out of respect for the ongoing funeral for the previous Master, Ren Lao and Ren Yuan refused to enter and requested the new House Master, Su Mengzhen, to come out. Su Mengzhen emerged, calmly declaring that "People come to me even if I don't want to see them." He politely stated he was merely an "ordinary person" and could not accept such a grand gift.

The officials insisted, presenting their gift: a string of red firecrackers, urging him to light them to "celebrate" his inauguration. Su Mengzhen firmly refused, pointing out that lighting firecrackers during his father's funeral would displease his followers. The officials then escalated their demands, threatening that his friends, Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei, were in their custody and would suffer if he didn't comply. Realizing the gravity of the threat, Su Mengzhen ordered the firecrackers lit.

He then instructed the officials to inform the Minister that he would visit when the "time was right," which pleased them. Knowing the House of Sunset Drizzle's strict rule of never dealing with politicians, Yang Wuxie explained the difficulty of rescuing Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei. Wen Rou, unable to accept her friends' plight, decided to take matters into her own hands.

That night, she intercepted Fu Zongshu's carriage with a cart full of fireworks, claiming it was a return gift for his earlier "generosity." The fireworks exploded, scattering the court officers and injuring Fu Zongshu. Wen Rou mockingly questioned if he liked her "gift," then taunted him, daring him to arrest her. Fu Zongshu, however, saw through her ploy to gain entry to the prison to see her friends.

He refused to arrest her, citing respect for her father, the Lord of Luoyang, and ordered his carriage to return, leaving Wen Rou alone. Defeated, Wen Rou stood outside the prison walls and lit a single firework, hoping its light would bring comfort to her friends inside. In the dark dungeon, Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei, who had been without food and water for days, steadfastly refused the horrific human flesh offered to them.

The single firework burst into the sky, its vibrant colors briefly illuminating their grim surroundings. Seeing it, they realized their friends on the outside still cared, and a renewed sense of hope ignited within them. On the wall, they inscribed their shared aspiration: "It's fine if I can't fly. It's fine if I can't make a sound. But when I do, I'll soar to the highest. But when I do, I'll make the loudest noise."

Su Mengzhen, fulfilling his promise, visited Fu Zongshu. After exchanging pleasantries, Fu Zongshu emphasized the strict "rules" of the Capital and proposed a task. He sought Su Mengzhen's help in dealing with Liu Anshi, known as "the Feisty Official," in the northwest. When Su Mengzhen inquired about his friends' charges, Fu Zongshu made a clear exchange: "Help me and I'll help you." Su Mengzhen agreed to go to the northwest.

In return, Fu Zongshu agreed to release Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei but stipulated they "cannot enter House of Sunset Drizzle." Su Mengzhen accepted these terms. Later, in a private conversation with Yang Wuxie, Su Mengzhen admitted the "untruthful words" he had to utter. He confirmed that the target, Liu Anshi, was indeed "the Feisty Official," and recognized the plan was to eliminate all "bold and honest officials" in the realm.

He resolved to personally go to the northwest and ensure Liu Anshi was safely evacuated "beyond the border." Yang Wuxie promised to manage the House of Sunset Drizzle in his absence. Su Mengzhen instructed him not to let Wen Rou meet the two, noting that his "martial sister" often "doesn't understand boundaries." Yang Wuxie agreed, admitting that dealing with her was "not his strong suit."

Back in the prison, as a heavy rain began to fall, a starving Bai Choufei started to approach the human flesh. Wang Xiaoshi quickly pulled him to the open window, letting the cold rain wash over them to bring him back to his senses. The rain reminded them of their ambitions. Bai Choufei, resolute, declared, "I don't want to die here. We have to live!"

He passionately spoke of his ambition to become a powerful hero, to "rewrite the rules of the martial arts world," and inspire others to help the weak. Together, they repeated their mantra of soaring to the highest and making the loudest noise. Soon after, a guard announced their release, revealing that Su Mengzhen had "begged" for their freedom.

Fu Zongshu appeared, reiterating he was releasing them for Su Mengzhen's sake, but they were forbidden from entering the House of Sunset Drizzle. He then presented them with a "way forward," warning them that if they didn't follow it, they would "die." As they exited the prison, a sight that astonished other prisoners who exclaimed it was the first time such a thing had ever happened, they were met by Di Feijing of Six Half Hall.

Di Feijing offered them wine, inviting them to join Six Half Hall as Elders, a status that would normally take decades to achieve. Bai Choufei expressed surprise at Six Half Hall's close ties with the Ministry of Justice. Then, along with Wang Xiaoshi, he defiantly refused the offer, spilling the wine onto the ground. Di Feijing warned them that by turning down Six Half Hall, they would have no place to hide in the Capital and advised them to leave.

Wang Xiaoshi challenged him, asking if there was truly no other place to stand in the Capital's martial arts world. Di Feijing conceded there was "hardly a corner," or "three inches of land." Undeterred, Wang Xiaoshi stated that as long as they had "a roof above us," it was enough for them to survive. Di Feijing, acknowledging their resilience, toasted them, wishing them recognition throughout the world.
