Inside the House of Sunset Drizzle, the House Master, Su Zhemu, having just recovered from a severe illness, receives well wishes from veteran members Li Niantang, Long Xiaoqing, and Mo Beichen. They express immense relief at his recovery, with Long Xiaoqing noting that Delegate Hua Wucuo's hair has turned gray from the stress of managing the House's affairs. Mo Beichen, however, suggests the recuperating House Master should rest and not be burdened, implying Hua Wucuo can continue to handle things.

Shortly after, Hua Wucuo arrives. Su Zhemu takes a walk with him in the courtyard, sternly advising him to step down and reminding him that he possesses a "death warrant" that could seal Hua Wucuo's fate. Their tense conversation is interrupted when Jiansan bursts in with news: Su Mengzhen has returned and successfully acquired the vital box. Upon hearing this, Hua Wucuo's respectful facade vanishes.

Declaring the House Master gravely ill, he places him under confinement, forbidding visitors and leaving only Liu Lianxin to attend to him, believing she poses no threat. Later, Liu Lianxin secretly approaches Mo Beichen, asking him to purchase a new prescription for Su Zhemu. She hands him the formula, subtly urging him to read it carefully. Once alone, Mo Beichen discovers a hidden message written on the prescription: "If a rebellion occurs, do not intervene.

Your priority is to stay alive." Meanwhile, to keep her safe, Yang Wuxie has tied up Wen Rou, who is furious until Su Mengzhen appears. She chides Su Mengzhen for fighting while injured and for involving her two new friends. When he asks if she's more concerned for him or them, she insists her worry is for him.

Wen Rou reveals she came to the Capital because she missed him and because her father was pressuring her into arranged marriages, forcing her to run away from home. Su Mengzhen explains that with Hua Wucuo's forces surrounding the House, a direct assault is impossible. Bai Choufei proposes a two-pronged strategy: one group, led by a disguised Su Mengzhen, will openly enter the Capital to draw the enemy's attention and forces.

The real Su Mengzhen will then take a covert route to storm the now less-guarded House of Sunset Drizzle. To make the ruse convincing, the decoy will be accompanied by Yang Wuxie, Su Mengzhen's well-known "Bad Advisor," and Wen Rou, his martial sister, and will carry the iconic Red Sleeve Blade. While the original plan was for the more experienced Bai Choufei to act as the decoy, Wang Xiaoshi insists on switching roles.

He explains that since both missions are equally dangerous and their skills are comparable, the choice comes down to their partners. He teases that he must protect Wen Rou due to her poor martial arts, while Bai Choufei should protect Su Mengzhen. Bai Choufei agrees but warns Wang Xiaoshi to be cautious of the "old foxes" in the Capital. Before they part, Su Mengzhen gives Wang Xiaoshi his Red Sleeve Blade and teaches him a single, signature move.

He explains that while the entire style is too complex to learn quickly, this one strike is so distinctive that it will convince anyone he is the real Su Mengzhen, stressing the importance of capturing his bearing and tone. As planned, Wang Xiaoshi, Wen Rou, and Yang Wuxie arrive openly at the Capital city gates. The inn manager, Ding Yan, who owes Su Mengzhen a debt of gratitude, warmly welcomes them.

At the inn, Wen Rou notices Wang Xiaoshi's torn socks and stays up to sew him a new pair, explaining that since Su Mengzhen is like family to her, his friends are her friends. Wang Xiaoshi is deeply touched. Later, as he practices the blade technique, Wen Rou praises his quick mastery. An awkward moment ensues when Wang Xiaoshi, trying to stop her from opening a window and revealing their position to spies, accidentally takes her hand.

Elsewhere, Hua Wucuo discusses with Jiansan the surprising difficulty of eliminating Su Mengzhen. Jiansan reports that Su Mengzhen has sent invitations to the other Keepers, including Mo Beichen and Shi Wukui, whom Hua Wucuo dismisses as fence-sitters he will deal with later. Eager for the confrontation, Hua Wucuo orders his men to assemble. Under the night sky, Su Mengzhen meets Lei Chun in a secluded courtyard. She has prepared citrus tea for him, and they speak intimately.

Lei Chun reveals that her father sent her to Xiliu not to retrieve the box, but to prevent any truce with Su Mengzhen. She has observed Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei, describing Wang Xiaoshi as pure-hearted and trustworthy, and Bai Choufei as highly ambitious and capable. She advises Su Mengzhen to cultivate their talents, as they will become great allies. As the tea cools, Su Mengzhen gently takes Lei Chun's cold hand, assuring her his heart is warm.

He acknowledges that becoming House Master will make their meetings more difficult but vows that once he is in power, only her father could keep them apart. Before she leaves, they hang a lantern on the door in a silent, reluctant farewell. In another part of the city, Li Niantang and Long Xiaoqing drink and discuss the future.

Long Xiaoqing declares his unwavering loyalty to Hua Wucuo, praising his leadership and dismissing Su Mengzhen as a sickly man unfit to rule. As they talk, an invitation from Su Mengzhen arrives, requesting their presence at the House of Sages the next morning.
