At the House of Sunset Drizzle's victory banquet, everyone exchanged bewildered glances as Lei Dongtian and the Six Half Hall disciples arrived with a coffin. Unnoticed by most, Su Mengzhen's face showed a flicker of tension, and a subtle signal from Lei Mei confirmed his suspicions of a trap. Lei Dongtian declared the Six Half Hall's submission and presented the coffin as a congratulatory gift for Su Mengzhen's "rising fortunes."
Su Mengzhen accepted, announcing that with Lei Sun dead, his forces—and the coffin—were now his. In a sudden move, Su Mengzhen threw his wine cup and leaped toward the coffin. With a burst, Lei Sun emerged from within. Immediately, the Six Half Hall members sprang into action, as did Wang Xiaoshi and Bai Choufei, rushing to Su Mengzhen's side. Amidst the ensuing chaos, Lei Sun was unexpectedly stabbed in the chest.
Everyone was astonished to discover that Lei Mei was the assailant. Lei Sun, disbelieving, demanded to know why. Lei Mei revealed that years ago, she had been forced to kill her own father in front of Lei Sun to survive, and her life since then had been dedicated to the single purpose of killing him herself. Lei Sun pushed Lei Mei away and advanced on Su Mengzhen, intending to sacrifice his life to save his followers.
Su Mengzhen, having promised Lei Chun he would not personally take Lei Sun's life, hesitated. At that exact moment, Lei Chun arrived on the scene, and Lei Sun plunged his sword into his own heart. Thunderstruck, Lei Chun ran to him as he used his last breaths to urge her not to seek revenge. Following Lei Sun's death, Di Feijing took command of a fractured Six Half Hall.
He stopped a grief-stricken Lei Dongtian from leading a suicidal revenge attack, reminding everyone that their lives were saved by Lei Sun's sacrifice. Ascending to a higher vantage point, Di Feijing established new rules: they must be united under his sole leadership and patiently endure, sheathing their blades and concealing their hatred. He explained that the House of Sunset Drizzle's current dominance was also its greatest weakness.
He prophesied that it would inevitably collapse from within, and only then would they have their revenge. On the day of Lei Sun's funeral, Minister Fu had three hundred gold taels laid on the path, a symbolic repayment of an old debt. Lei Chun passed by without a glance, stepping over the gold. Nearby, members of the House of Sunset Drizzle ceremoniously broke cups and offered a final send-off, wishing Lei Sun peace and an end to all enmities.
Meanwhile, Lei Mei drank alone, finding the liquor bitter even after her vengeance was fulfilled. Bai Choufei found her and urged her to forgive herself. Lei Mei confessed that to gain Lei Sun's trust, she had dealt the final blow to her own father and had lived as Lei Sun's pet, all for her one chance at revenge. With him gone, she felt she had lost her reason to live.
Bai Choufei encouraged her to live for herself, assuring her that she was now free and offering his protection. Wang Xiaoshi announced his intention to travel the world to investigate the Youqiao Group and uncover the truth behind his mother's murder. Su Mengzhen revealed to Bai Choufei that he had known his identity as Bai Youjin ever since Lei Chun first gifted him a specific painting.
Bai Choufei admitted his ambition to match Su Mengzhen's stature but acknowledged that the House of Sunset Drizzle could only have one leader, expressing his desire to leave and forge his own path. Before they parted, Wang Xiaoshi gathered his friends to retell the story of the Retainment sword. He explained it was a single-edged sword, its other side sealed by its creator, who hoped future wielders would possess a "heart of retainment."
The sword was passed to the Carefree Sect, but none of the three great disciples of his grandmaster—the Divine Marquis, Thirteen Doom, or his master, Recluse Tianyi—had inherited it. The Divine Marquis failed to retain his beloved, Thirteen Doom failed to retain his own sanity and killed his wife, and Recluse Tianyi failed to retain the brotherhood with his two peers.
Bai Choufei reassured Wang Xiaoshi that there was no animosity between him and Su Mengzhen and that they would always be brothers. Su Mengzhen, pleased, raised his cup, but his expression hardened as he saw Lei Chun arrive, an uninvited guest brought by Wen Rou and Wang Xiaoshi. Lei Chun declared that Wang Xiaoshi's story was incomplete.
She spoke of a woman named Jing who, to avenge her father's death at the hands of the Divine Marquis and Thirteen Doom, married the latter out of hatred, leading to a life of suffering that ended at his hand. Lei Chun then poured her wine on the ground, a symbolic "break-up" drink with Su Mengzhen. She vowed to carry on her father's legacy of enmity against the House of Sunset Drizzle.
Later, Thirteen Doom stormed the Six Half Hall's Lingxiang Hall, announcing that he was taking control by order of the Chancellor. He introduced a strange-looking man as their new Chief Elder, shocking everyone. Lei Chun was furious, but Di Feijing gestured for her to remain calm. Back in her room, Lei Chun was suddenly embraced from behind by the new Chief Elder. She broke free as Di Feijing rushed to her aid, only to be blocked by Thirteen Doom, who warned him not to interfere.
