Cao Ya recovered quickly after being taken to the hospital by Wang Zijian. It was determined that she had experienced an adverse reaction from an overdose of acetaminophen, caused by taking two different cold medicines simultaneously. Fortunately, the dosage was not large enough to cause liver or kidney damage. While Cao Ya rested at Wang Zijian's home, he fumbled in the kitchen, calling his mother for tips on making lotus root and pork rib soup.
Amused and touched by his earnest but clumsy efforts, Cao Ya accepted the porridge and soup his mother had also sent over. Wang Zijian insisted she stay the night and went out to buy her new toiletries.
