Granting You a Dreamlike Life Episode 14 Recap
> Granting You a Dreamlike Life Recap
Luo Fusheng, recovering from his injuries, was being meticulously cared for by Hong Lan at her family's villa. Despite Hong Lan's attentive nursing, Luo Fusheng found himself feeling well enough to move about. Hong Lan, feeling responsible for the events that led to his injuries, had personally prepared his room, even staying up all night to clean it. When she left his side, Luo Fusheng seized the opportunity to secretly instruct Luo Cheng to visit Tianying.
He asked Luo Cheng to reassure Tianying of his recovery, tell her not to worry, and inform her that he was temporarily residing at the Hong family villa and would contact her as soon as he was able. Luo Cheng teasingly noted Luo Fusheng's newfound enjoyment of Hong Lan's "exclusive care." Meanwhile, Tianying resumed her performances on stage, captivating the audience as always.
Xu Xingcheng, attending in plain clothes, watched with concern as she performed intricate moves despite her still-healing leg injury. After the show, he entered the backstage area, expressing his worry and chiding her for overexerting herself. Tianying, however, remained cold, reminding him he was no longer a doctor and that outsiders were not permitted backstage. Ignoring her protests, Xu Xingcheng gently re-bandaged her wound, stating that even without his uniform, he would always be her doctor whenever she needed one.
He urged her to take care of her injury. Later, as Tianying left the theater, she found Xu Xingcheng still waiting for her. He offered to drive her home, but she declined, explaining her intention to visit Luo Fusheng at the hospital. Xu Xingcheng informed her that Luo Fusheng had already been discharged and was staying at the Hong family villa. Tianying, incredulous, questioned the truth of his words, expressing deep concern for Luo Fusheng's severe injuries.
Hurt by her disbelief, Xu Xingcheng offered to take her to the hospital to verify his claim. Tianying, however, refused to ride in his car, citing her dislike for his current persona. Despite her injured leg, she insisted on walking. At the hospital, Xu Xingcheng, in a stern tone, demanded Luo Fusheng's discharge records from a nurse to prove he was telling the truth. After seeing the records, Tianying walked away, still cold toward Xu Xingcheng.
When he pressed her about her perception of him, she accused him of being "polluted" by the police force, stating that the former gentlemanly Xu Xingcheng would never treat others so rudely. He retorted that he still loved her, but she cut him off, telling him to stop talking. Shortly after, Luo Cheng arrived at Tianying's residence, waiting to deliver Luo Fusheng's message. He reassured her that Luo Fusheng was recovering well and advised her not to worry.
He also mentioned Luo Fusheng's temporary stay at the Hong family villa, explaining he couldn't easily come out. Tianying expressed her gratitude for the update. Back at the Hong family villa, Hong Lan's father, Hong Zhengbao, and his wife returned early from their vacation due to the recent troubles. Hong Lan apologized for cutting their trip short, but her father insisted he couldn't relax with so many events unfolding.
Seeing Hong Lan preparing dinner for Luo Fusheng, Hong Zhengbao decided to join her in visiting him. In Luo Fusheng's room, Hong Zhengbao offered an apology for Hong Lan's "capricious" actions that led to his injury. Luo Fusheng humbly dismissed the apology. Hong Zhengbao then explained that staying at their villa was safer for Luo Fusheng than his own residence, and might even help them capture the elusive assassin.
Hong Lan casually remarked that her father's words were identical to "Brother Lin's," prompting Hong Zhengbao to angrily remind her of their family rule: never to mention the Lin family in their house. Hong Lan then presented Luo Fusheng with a light meal of cabbage tofu and small wontons, suitable for a recovering patient, which he accepted with appreciation. Unwavering in his pursuit, Xu Xingcheng once again tried to win Tianying's forgiveness.
He waited for her with freshly bought pan-fried buns, apologizing for his previous behavior and promising to never again quarrel or be tough with her. Tianying, however, was at work and reminded him of his duty to wear his uniform, suggesting he save the pan-fried buns for himself as performers shouldn't eat before a show. When he later sent a "Sorry" message via balloons attached to a gift, she cut the strings, letting the gift fall and break.
He tried again with flowers, but she sharply criticized him for wasting work time on personal matters, declaring her disappointment in his profession. Meanwhile, Lin Qikai was summoned by his father, Lin Daoshan, who was furious. Lin Daoshan interrogated his son for missing work and going to the Hong family villa to visit Luo Fusheng.
He vehemently condemned Lin Qikai's actions, calling him foolish and a traitor for helping Luo Qinggeng's son—the man responsible for the death of Lin Qikai's Aunt Anne and the disappearance of his younger sister, Lin Ruomeng. Lin Daoshan accused his son of being overly emotional and caring for the Hong family. Lin Qikai attempted to argue that the previous generation's grudges should not affect their own, asserting his loyalty to Luo Fusheng as a brother.
Lin Daoshan furiously cut him off, forbidding him from mentioning Anne. He reiterated the deep-seated enmity between the Lin and Hong families, reminding Lin Qikai that as the only son, his duty was to consolidate the Lin family's position in Dongjiang and therefore, he should pursue Miss Xu. Lin Qikai, defeated, conceded that he understood and would consider what he should do.
After Lin Qikai left, Lin Daoshan was plagued by nightmares and continued to publish missing person notices for his daughter, vowing to find her even if it meant losing everything. Tianying's father and brother, Jiu Suihong and Tian Ci, departed for their hometown. With her family away, Tianying felt an increasing urge to check on Luo Fusheng, realizing she had been neglecting her debt of gratitude. Despite her senior sister's warnings not to run around, Tianying decided to visit him.
Upon arriving at the Hong family villa, she asked a servant if Luo Fusheng resided there. However, Hong Lan intercepted her at the gate, coldly telling Tianying that Luo Fusheng was recovering and needed rest, denying her entry. Hong Lan then extended an apology for the past kidnapping, stating that she considered their accounts settled and did not want Tianying in her house.
She then sternly warned her servant not to reveal Tianying's visit to Luo Fusheng, threatening punishment for any lapses in secrecy, reminding her that a previous slip-up had almost cost Luo Fusheng his life. Just as Tianying was about to leave, Xu Xingcheng appeared. He asked her what if he could help her see Luo Fusheng, lamenting that she only seemed to acknowledge him when he was helping her meet other people.
He then set a condition: Tianying must truthfully tell him if Luo Fusheng had confessed his feelings to her in the cave. Tianying admitted that Luo Fusheng had indeed confessed but clarified that she had not accepted his proposal, viewing him only as a friend and a lifesaver. She explained her visit was purely out of gratitude and concern for his well-being.
Believing her honesty, Xu Xingcheng offered to help her see Luo Fusheng, which finally brought a smile to Tianying's face—the first he had seen since her return from the cave. Xu Xingcheng devised a plan to create an opportunity for Tianying. He arranged to take Hong Lan to the police station that afternoon to record a statement regarding Luo Fusheng's assassination attempt, hoping to delay her for approximately two hours.
With Hong Lan preoccupied, Luo Cheng discreetly led Tianying into the Hong family villa. Tianying was reunited with a cheerful Luo Fusheng, and they both expressed relief at seeing each other unharmed. Luo Fusheng playfully asked if she remembered his confession in the cave, but Tianying refused to directly answer, calling him "unserious" and asserting that his words couldn't be trusted.
Luo Fusheng, feigning hurt, insisted on his sincerity and accused her of avoiding her true feelings, claiming he could see she liked him. Tianying retorted that he was thick-skinned, explaining her care for him was merely to repay his repeated acts of saving her, and reiterated their agreement to be "friends." Luo Fusheng, disappointed by their current status, then attempted to "accelerate their friendship" by demanding she bring him his favorite pan-fried buns every day.
Tianying protested, unable to keep troubling Xu Xingcheng with such requests while he was on duty. Luo Fusheng reminded her she still owed him three wishes, but Tianying pointed out he had already used one by exclaiming "Good" when she sang for him in the cave.
Feigning hardship, Luo Fusheng complained about the bland food he was being served and pleaded with her, as a friend, to fulfill his "small wish" by bringing him the pan-fried buns she had promised him in the cave. Softened, Tianying agreed to bring him pan-fried buns every day at 1 PM, with Luo Cheng waiting for her at the door.
Just as they finished their conversation, Hong Lan returned home prematurely from the police station, despite Xu Xingcheng's efforts to prolong her stay. She entered Luo Fusheng's room without knocking. Luo Fusheng, quick-witted, feigned hunger, prompting Hong Lan to go prepare him food. As Hong Lan left, Tianying and Luo Cheng quickly jumped out of a window. Xu Xingcheng was waiting outside, expressing regret for not being able to hold Hong Lan longer. He confirmed Tianying's safety, though Luo Cheng had sprained his ankle during the escape. Xu Xingcheng then left them, and Tianying thanked him for his invaluable help.
