Hu Xiu admitted that while her parents wished for a peaceful year, she craved new challenges—specifically, successfully completing the Lyman project and refining her own architectural designs. When she asked Xiao Zhiyu about his own resolution, he revealed his lingering obsession: uncovering why the stadium designed by his father had collapsed years ago.
In the emotional wake of his confession, Hu Xiu leaned in for a kiss, but Xiao Zhiyu pointedly pulled away. Stunned and hurt by the rejection, Hu Xiu spent a restless night, only to be surprised the next morning when Xiao Zhiyu’s friend, Mr. Gong, arrived to move his belongings out. Feeling he was rushing to cut ties, Hu Xiu frustratedly returned the evening dress he had gifted her.
Meanwhile, a side of the story unfolded involving Guang Ming and Zhao Xiaorou. Guang Ming, feeling undervalued at his firm where his superiors took credit for his hard work, had been moonlighting on side projects. Hu Xiu replied that true grace was speaking the truth politely. At the construction site, they were met by Supervisor Xu. Pei Zhen displayed a surprisingly rigorous side, changing into work gear and emphasizing that safety was the non-negotiable bottom line, warning workers against the dangers of complacency. Impressed by Zhuling’s standardized safety management, Hu Xiu shared that her father, a lighting engineer, had been permanently injured in a construction accident, which made her deeply respect site protocols.
