Now, sitting in the same spot, the atmosphere was heavy with the impending end of their marriage. When Guangming arrived, he put on a front of frantic success, claiming he had finished his resignation from his previous firm and secured a stable new project.
Xiaorou met his performance with a cold revelation: she knew about Chi Xin's "help." Despite Guangming’s desperate claims that his relationship with Chi Xin was strictly professional and that he had resisted her advances out of loyalty, Xiaorou revealed she had witnessed their intimacy at a park near the Zhiteng building. To her, his excuses were nothing more than a pathetic display. She ended their relationship on the spot, giving him three days to pack his belongings and move out.
Meanwhile, a corporate storm was brewing at the Zhuling building. Pei Zhen uncovered evidence of systematic financial fraud within his father’s company. By pressuring the financial director, Shen Jie, and using the man’s concern for his young son, Pei Zhen learned that the company had been fabricating transactions and inflating profits for years to cover massive losses.
When he confronted his father, the elder Pei remained unrepentant, arguing that "faking" the books was a necessary survival tactic to secure loans when no one else would offer help. He coldly warned his son that they were on the same sinking ship—if the company collapsed, Pei Zhen would fall from the heights his father had built for him. Dejected and physically injured after his father threw a glass at him, Pei Zhen encountered Hu Xiu at the office.
Seeing his bleeding forehead and damp shirt, Hu Xiu quietly applied a bandage. Her words suggested that despite his father's legacy, Pei Zhen could still determine his own path. A few days later, Xiaorou learned that Guangming had been hospitalized with gastric bleeding. She visited him, but her heart remained closed. Guangming tried to use his illness to win her back, claiming he had pushed himself to the brink of collapse just to secure the project's final payment for their future. Xiaorou was unmoved.
She reflected on their past—the first date, the long subway rides he took to see her, and the nights he spent caring for her in the hospital. She admitted those moments were likely sincere, which only made his current betrayal and the "kiss" with Chi Xin more unbearable. She told him that by choosing to stop loving him, he had become a stranger to her, and it was time for both of them to move on.
Focusing on her career, Xiaorou used the Souler app to find inspiration for a new dessert titled "Rebirth." Her café, Regard, also launched a collaboration with Gong Huaicong’s murder mystery shop. While discussing the partnership, Gong Huaicong accidentally discovered Xiaorou's divorce agreement. Realizing she was single, his personal interest in her deepened. Meanwhile, Hu Xiu had become a frequent player at the mystery shop, specifically joining sessions led by the actor Li Yue.
Her sole mission in every game was to find increasingly creative ways to "kill" the character typically played by Qin Xiaoyi, much to the latter's chagrin. The collaboration officially kicked off with an event at the café, featuring drinks inspired by the games, such as "Rongcheng Snowy Night" and "Bits of Silver." During the gathering, a delivery of flowers addressed to "Baby" caused a stir, though it was eventually revealed to be for another guest.
