Destiny's Love Episode 9 Recap
> Destiny's Love Recap
Upon seeing Tang Mao holding Wen Suxi, You You quickly found a wheelchair for Wen Suxi. Chi Yu reprimanded Wen Suxi, asking why she would go out when she was not in her best condition. Tang Mao interrupted, telling Chi Yu to mind his own business and threatening legal action against him for disturbing their lives and posing a threat to him and Suxi. Lin Haoshu, witnessing this, left in anger.
Wen Suxi told You You and Lin Haoshu to go home, assuring You You that she was fine. After You You left, Tang Mao advised Wen Suxi to limit her chocolate intake due to her recovery. He then offered to pick her up from the hospital the next day for her discharge. Back in her hospital room, Wen Suxi noticed a box of French Bourges chocolate.
This sparked a memory of a dream where she had taken Chi Yu to that very town, known for its exquisite handmade chocolates. She decided to indulge in a piece, but Chi Yu suddenly materialized behind her, startling her. Fearing being discovered by the bodyguards outside, he quickly covered her mouth. He then instructed her not to go out with Tang Mao again.
When Wen Suxi retorted that it was none of his business, Chi Yu proposed that if he could prove his identity and explain his reasons for buying her house, she should move back in. Wen Suxi agreed. After Chi Yu vanished, Wen Suxi, finding the guards outside unaware of his presence, wondered if her recent accident had caused her to hallucinate.
Determined to prove his trustworthiness and persuade Wen Suxi to move back into her house, Chi Yu enlisted Shancai and Fang to create a convincing human identity for him. He instructed Shancai to act as his butler, known as Uncle Lu, and Fang to pose as his elder brother, while he would be a young master from a prominent family. Fang meticulously crafted an elaborate family background story for Chi Yu.
The following day, they arrived at the hospital in a luxurious car with a retinue. Uncle Lu formally introduced himself to Wen Suxi, followed by Fang, who introduced himself as Chi Yu's brother. Fang explained that Chi Yu, a quiet and humble individual educated in traditional private schools, typically kept his family’s immense wealth a secret.
He claimed that the Chi family amassed their fortune from gunpowder, later expanding into international trade across Eurasia and the Americas, boasting wealth comparable to small nations. He also dramatically narrated how Chi Yu's parents tragically disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle, leaving Chi Yu and his brother a vast inheritance, now managed by professional brokers, except for a private investment company for their personal interests.
When Wen Suxi inquired about the company, Fang vaguely stated it was not convenient to disclose. Wen Suxi, still somewhat skeptical, asked why a wealthy heir would be a fan of Lin Haoshu. Fang clarified that while Chi Yu admired Lin Haoshu's manga, his true passion lay in the film industry, and he wished to act in one of Wen Suxi's movies.
Fang then proposed investing in Wen Suxi's new ventures, adding that they had already secured her house from being sold, intending to help her career recover. Wen Suxi, confirming she would return to her house and accept the investment, remained unconvinced about Chi Yu's true identity. Just then, Tang Mao arrived to collect Wen Suxi for her discharge. He immediately challenged Chi Yu's newly revealed "prominent" identity, dismissing it as a fabricated tale delivered by "two comedians."
When Uncle Lu attempted to elaborate, Tang Mao curtly stated he was only there to pick up Wen Suxi. Chi Yu, still trying to appeal to Wen Suxi, asked if her misconceptions about him had been resolved after his elaborate "proof" of identity and his sincere gesture of buying her house. Wen Suxi, however, walked away with Tang Mao, who also took the chance to stop You You from giving Wen Suxi the chocolate, claiming she couldn't eat it yet.
Later, after dropping Wen Suxi at the car, Tang Mao went into his office and ordered his subordinate to thoroughly investigate Chi Yu's background, including any registered companies, occupation, education, and family status. Wen Suxi, meanwhile, went upstairs to her old office, only to be stopped by the receptionist who informed her she was now a "visitor" needing an appointment.
Cai Shumei appeared, gloating that Wen Suxi’s office had been cleared and her project, "Yi Yi Gu Xing," assigned to another team. She mockingly invited Wen Suxi to the film’s premiere. Wen Suxi, undeterred, asserted that she was still in the industry and would provide Cai Shumei with even greater competition in the future. Tang Mao then appeared, mildly scolding Wen Suxi for not waiting in the car, and revealed he had already packed her belongings.
He politely declined Cai Shumei's invitation to her team's event. Wen Suxi agreed to stay at Tang Mao's house temporarily until she found her own place. In his studio, Lin Haoshu expressed his frustration, realizing he stood little chance against a "trust-funding kid" and a "company owner" vying for Wen Suxi’s affection. He felt utterly defeated, lamenting his inability to compete with such formidable rivals.
Meanwhile, Chi Yu, Shancai, and Fang gathered to debrief their failed attempt at establishing Chi Yu’s fake identity. Shancai blamed Fang for being too talkative, scaring Wen Suxi away with his overly elaborate display of wealth, including luxury cars, flowers, and poetry. Fang, in turn, argued that he had actually prevented them from being exposed and shifted the blame onto Chi Yu’s general approach.
Amidst their bickering, a news report on TV announced that Wen Suxi’s film, "Yi Yi Gu Xing," had achieved 30 million in pre-sales despite her resignation due to the copy incident. This news sparked a new idea in Chi Yu, who promptly requested more money from Shancai. Tang Mao brought Wen Suxi to his home, introducing her to Ms. Pei, a caretaker he had hired specifically for her.
He assured Wen Suxi that Ms. Pei would assist her with all her needs. Later, during dinner, Tang Mao suggested they travel once her foot had healed, emphasizing the importance of life beyond work. He then produced a ring and proposed marriage to Wen Suxi. At that precise moment, Chi Yu appeared, freezing time with his powers and whisking Wen Suxi away into a dream. He transported her to a room filled with chocolates, where she happily indulged.
As she ate, Wen Suxi found herself questioning her feelings, a sense of "heartbeat" suggesting a growing affection for Chi Yu, even though she barely knew him. The unreality of the dream made her doubt these burgeoning emotions. Meanwhile, Cai Shumei's subordinate confirmed Wen Suxi's stay at Tang Mao's.
Cai Shumei dismissed Wen Suxi as a "grasshopper after autumn," predicting that "Yi Yi Gu Xing" would quickly fail at the box office due to the absence of its cast at the premiere. Wen Suxi abruptly woke from her dream, her heart pounding. Fearing a heart condition, she went downstairs for a glass of water, where she encountered Tang Mao.
He expressed concern for her well-being, asking why she didn't call Ms. Pei for water and if she had experienced a nightmare. Wen Suxi admitted to having dreamt. Tang Mao then proposed that they arrange a meeting with Chi Yu to buy back her house, as he found it unsettling for a stranger to own it.
Wen Suxi, initially hesitant about Tang Mao spending more money on her, eventually agreed, playfully warning him against inflating the price when she would eventually buy it back from him. Meanwhile, Chi Yu, already awake early in the morning, was seen lamenting to Shancai and Fang about the constant need to prove his "earthman" identity. Feeling increasingly bewildered by her recent experiences, Wen Suxi sought help from a doctor.
She described changes since her car accident, including a miraculously fast-healing leg—a phenomenon the doctor attributed to psychological trauma rather than superpowers. More significantly, she recounted having recurring dreams about the same person, which triggered symptoms like panic, fever, confusion, and night sweats. She even questioned if she was experiencing "premature climacteric." The doctor, after listening intently, diagnosed her symptoms as signs of long-term singlehood, indicating she had "fallen in love" and was "attracted to the lad" from her dreams.
Wen Suxi vehemently denied this, insisting he wasn't her boyfriend, but the doctor reiterated that he was a frequent presence in her life, even if not romantically involved. Left alone, Wen Suxi pondered the doctor’s words, wondering if such an attraction was truly possible. Chi Yu, after receiving a text invitation from Wen Suxi, arrived at the meeting, only to find Tang Mao also present. Tang Mao invited Chi Yu to sit and then, without preamble, exposed his fabricated identity.
He presented corporate records spanning five years, revealing no individual named Chi Yu as a legal person or shareholder. Furthermore, Tang Mao produced Chi Yu’s domicile records, which showed no work experience and no enrollment in any schools he had claimed; indeed, there was no one with the surname Chi registered there at all. Tang Mao demanded an explanation for Chi Yu's substantial wealth, questioning how he could afford to purchase Wen Suxi’s house outright without any legitimate income.
Wen Suxi was shocked by this revelation. Tang Mao, explaining the importance of verifying identities, warned Chi Yu that unless he agreed to sell Wen Suxi’s house back to him, he would report Chi Yu’s potentially illegal funds to the relevant authorities. Just as the tension escalated, Mr. Gao from Huali Company arrived. Tang Mao promptly greeted Mr. Gao and introduced him to Wen Suxi, then began to introduce Chi Yu as the scene ended.
