Cheng Kairan explained that the worker’s leg was broken and someone had stirred up old grievances, fueling public outrage. They took Li Jinyu, as the person in charge, for investigation. Li Jinyu calmly reassured Ye Meng, telling her not to worry and to take care of herself and Grandma. After he was taken away, Ye Meng deduced from the sudden shift in public opinion that someone was deliberately causing trouble. She learned that Li Jinyu's father, Li Lingbai, the chairman of Hanhai Group, was holding a press conference the next day.
Determined to uncover the truth before the conference could cause further damage, Ye Meng, with the help of Cheng Kairan and Fang Yanen, rushed to the construction site. They discovered that the materials used were indeed different from the contract specifications, confirming they had been secretly swapped. At the site, they confronted Zhou Yu, who was acting suspiciously.
Zhou Yu, however, accused them, claiming he had video evidence of their group, Hanhai, swapping materials and linking them to a person named Wang Xingsheng. Ye Meng realized Zhou Yu believed Hanhai Group was responsible. She immediately called Tai Mingxiao, asking for all recent surveillance footage from Blue Sea Port. As Ye Meng and Fang Yanen reviewed the surveillance videos, they noted that footage from when Li Jinyu and Lin Yangyang visited the site showed all materials to be compliant, unlike those currently on site. They also noticed that some video segments had been tampered with. Li Lingbai, as the chairman of Hanhai Group, began the press conference by publicly apologizing for the collapse accident at Blue Sea Port’s second phase.
