Following up on the revelation of Lu Li's gender, her mother, Huang Caixia, remains furious about the deception. To win her parents over, Lu Li works late into the night to create her very first program, "HELLO WORLD," using it to passionately explain her love for coding. She describes programming as a simple world where right and wrong are clear, and finds deep fulfillment in creating things from symbols.
Moved by her sincerity, and after Lu Li pleads for a one-year trial period to prove herself, her father gives his support. Her mother, reminded of her own desire for Lu Li's happiness, reluctantly agrees but insists that finding a boyfriend should remain a priority. The next morning, a relieved Lu Li arrives at work joyfully, but her mood is cut short by a noticeably irritable Jiang Yicheng, who orders her to follow him.
He takes her to their old university campus, a place filled with cherished memories for Lu Li, as it's where she first developed feelings for him. Her nostalgia is cut short when Jiang Yicheng announces his intention to visit Professor Li, a move that would instantly expose her lies. Panicking, Lu Li feigns a severe stomachache to stall for time and secretly calls the professor, persuading him to pretend he's unavailable.
Jiang Yicheng seems to accept her excuse, but his suspicious glance suggests he sees through her ruse. Soon after, Gu Xiaoqi receives an invitation to cosplay at a major anime convention and invites Lu Li to join. The whole office programming team, including Gu Mo and three other male colleagues, decide to attend as well.
The four men amusingly dress as the swordsman Yang Guo, all with the wrong arm depicted as injured, while Gu Xiaoqi provides a Xiaolongnü costume for Lu Li. When the men spot Lu Li as Xiaolongnü, they excitedly chase her for photos, cornering her. Just as she is overwhelmed, Jiang Yicheng appears, grabs her, and rips off her veil. With her identity revealed, he confronts her, demanding to know her true motive for joining his company.
Lu Li sincerely explains her admiration for Enchant Technology's games, but an unmoved Jiang Yicheng, furious at her deception, fires her on the spot. Desperate, Lu Li begs for seven days to complete her work handover, a request he grudgingly grants. Later, discussing the incident with Gu Xiaoqi and Gu Mo, Lu Li is distraught. Gu Mo astutely points out the situation was likely a deliberate trap, as Enchant Technology was one of the convention's organizers.
The trio then resolves to devise a "seven-day plan" to change Jiang Yicheng's mind. Returning to the office in female attire, Lu Li is quickly accepted by her male colleagues, who value her skills and work ethic. They brainstorm ways to help her stay, suggesting everything from working harder to using tears. However, Jiang Yicheng's sister, Jiang Zitong, confronts Lu Li, accusing her of trying to get close to Chen Yiming and offering her money to leave.
Chen Yiming later tries to persuade Jiang Yicheng to let Lu Li stay, highlighting her exceptional talent, but Jiang Yicheng adamantly refuses, stating that while he might accept another female programmer, he cannot accept Lu Li because of her deceit. Meanwhile, Jiang Yicheng's mother, Cheng Yueru, calls Jiang Zitong to ask about the "man" with her son during his blind date. Jiang Zitong clarifies that it was a woman, Lu Li.
Delighted by the news, Cheng Yueru tracks Lu Li down and, to secure a meeting, fakes a sudden illness, successfully guilting Lu Li into agreeing to visit her home the next day. The following day, after some fashion advice from Gu Xiaoqi, Lu Li arrives at Jiang Yicheng's home with a portable speaker for his mother's square dancing. Cheng Yueru observes Lu Li, noting her unconventional hobbies of coding and computer repair.
During their time together, Lu Li impresses her by skillfully removing a splinter from her finger and later fixing a power outage by identifying and replacing a short-circuited bulb. Seeing how their skills complement each other, Cheng Yueru muses that they would make a good mother- and daughter-in-law pair. Moments later, she cries out after stepping on a sharp object. Without hesitation, Lu Li carries her to the hospital.
Jiang Yicheng rushes to the hospital only to find his mother and Lu Li chatting happily. He immediately misinterprets the scene, accusing Lu Li of manipulating his mother to save her job. Hurt by his harsh words, Lu Li leaves abruptly. Furious at her son, Cheng Yueru feigns dizziness and demands he apologize.
When her husband and Jiang Zitong arrive, Cheng Yueru secretly instructs her daughter to find Lu Li's home address, already plotting a meeting between their families to secure Lu Li as her ideal daughter-in-law.
