The Journey of Chongzi Episode 34 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Mu Yu noticed Luo Yinfan's unusual behavior, but Chong Zi was oblivious, her evil breath surging with sorrow and despair, driving her to seek death. Luo Yinfan, seeing her state, drew his sword and aimed at Chong Zi. At the critical moment, Yin Shuixian bravely stepped in front of Chong Zi, blocking the sword, an act that could obliterate her soul.
Chong Zi, heartbroken, confronted Luo Yinfan, asking why he had broken his promise and hadn't come for their meeting. " Why didn't you come that day? I waited for you for two days and two nights. Why didn't you come?" she cried, offering him her life if that's what he wanted, but demanding to know why he had treated her so.
Luo Yinfan coldly dismissed her as "Demon Zi," stating that a fierce and cruel demon naturally deserved to be killed. Mu Yu, realizing that Luo Yinfan seemed to have no memory of Chong Zi, tried to pull her away. Luo Yinfan then warned Chong Zi, "Demon Zi, seeing as you were eager to save her today, I will not pursue it. If you dare to offend the Mortal World again, I will take your life."
He then turned to Yin Shuixian, reproaching her: "Yin Shuixian, Xueling has cultivated you for many years. Your wrong move at that time brought you down to this point. Are you still unwilling to repent?" Yin Shuixian defiantly replied, "Wrong? As long as I can be with him, even if only for a day or an hour, I feel extremely happy. It's something you will never understand, especially you, Luo Yinfan."
Meanwhile, Ting Xue, displeased that Luo Yinfan had spared Chong Zi, sent a message to Qinghua Palace's old master, urging him to kill the injured demon. However, the message was intercepted by Zhuo Hao, who immediately rushed to the Hundred-Eyed Demon Cave upon learning of Chong Zi's whereabouts. Despite her impending death, Yin Shuixian's heart remained with Xueling, desperately hoping to retrieve the Longevity Herb to extend his life.
Chong Zi, after making sure Mu Yu would look after the injured Yin Shuixian, entered the demon cave alone. Inside, despite the hallucinogenic pollen and her weakened state, Chong Zi persevered and eventually obtained the herb. Just then, Zhuo Hao appeared. Chong Zi pleaded with him to let her go, explaining Yin Shuixian's grave condition. Frustrated, Zhuo Hao asked why she always risked her life for others but showed him no mercy.
He pressed her, asking if she had truly intended to hurt him that day. Chong Zi replied, "Hurting you was something I was forced to do. But my heart to leave you was also real." Unable to harm her, Zhuo Hao allowed her to leave. After leaving the cave, Chong Zi rushed the dying Yin Shuixian to the Demon Palace to seek Wang Yue's help.
Wang Yue, however, declared her condition hopeless, as her powers were nearly gone and she would vanish by midnight. Outraged by his indifference, Chong Zi accused him of being ruthless. When he refused to help, calling the Demon World selfish, Chong Zi offered to use her own spiritual power. Wang Yue stopped her and proposed a condition: "Why not beg me? And I will try." Desperate, Chong Zi knelt and pleaded, "Demon King, please save her."
Wang Yue then intervened, using his own power to stabilize Yin Shuixian's soul. With her soul temporarily stabilized, a peaceful Yin Shuixian told Chong Zi it was too late for her body. She entrusted Chong Zi to deliver the Longevity Herb to Xueling in the mountains of Xiting. With her dying breath, she asked Chong Zi to tell Xueling she had gone on a long journey and never regretted her choices. She also advised Chong Zi to forget Luo Yinfan.
Soon after, she passed away, and Wang Yue sent her soul back to Tianshan, her origin. Meanwhile, Xueling woke up in a fright from a dream of Shuixian bidding him farewell, the pain of their separation jolting him awake. Chong Zi then found Xueling and delivered the herb and message. Inspired by the hope of reunion, Xueling decided to join the Tianshan Sect—the place of their first encounter—to cultivate immortality and wait for her.
Later, Chong Zi asked Mu Yu if Yin Shuixian had said anything before she left, but Mu Yu cryptically replied, "You better not know." Luo Yinfan returned to Nanhua, where Min Yunzhong lavished praise on him for his achievements at the East Sea and mentioned his leniency towards Demon Zi.
Luo Yinfan explained that he hadn't killed her because he had not seen her intentionally hurting people, but rather trying to save someone, suggesting her demonic nature hadn't fully consumed her. He stated that he had warned her and would not spare her if she misbehaved again. Later, Ting Xue served Luo Yinfan in Chonghua Palace, offering him osmanthus cake. Luo Yinfan found it "not bad" but requested his favorite Jade Wheel Cake next time.
He also corrected her posture while she ground ink and advised her against using such a strong fragrance, subtly indicating his discomfort with her presence. Chong Zi awoke in the dead of night, her physical wounds healing but her heart filled with profound sorrow. " I became a demon. My master is killing me. And Yin Shuixian's life is uncertain. . . Everyone left me. They don't want me anymore," she lamented.
Mu Yu comforted her, promising to always be by her side. When Chong Zi questioned her destiny, rejecting the evil breath and her identity as Ni Lun's daughter, Wang Yue intervened. He forcefully reminded her, "Because you are Ni Lun's only blood relative. Because this is your mission." He explained that Ni Lun's destiny to unify the six worlds now fell upon her and showed her visions of her parents, Ni Lun and Shui Ji.
Seeing Chong Zi in distress from the surging evil breath, Mu Yu shielded her, warning Wang Yue that she would be possessed. Wang Yue dismissed his concern, claiming the pain would only increase her power. Later, Mu Yu urged Chong Zi to control her hatred for the immortal sects and Luo Yinfan, advising her to seal away her powers until "the last days come," when she could truly be herself.
Concerned that Luo Yinfan was being deceived now that his memory was gone, Qin Ke went to see him. However, his attempts to subtly talk about Chong Zi were constantly thwarted by Ting Xue, whom Luo Yinfan now trusted completely. Unable to get through, Qin Ke went to find Zhuo Hao. However, Min Suqiu, aware of Qin Ke's intentions, blocked him from seeing Zhuo Hao, claiming he was preoccupied with his ailing father.
Qin Ke wrote a letter and asked her to deliver it, but Min Suqiu attempted to destroy it in secret. Fortunately, Zhuo Hao discovered her actions and reprimanded her. He then rushed to meet Qin Ke. They lamented the "despicable" tricks played by Nanhua's elders and the deadlock created by Luo Yinfan's memory loss. Zhuo Hao immediately stated his resolve to save Chong Zi, despite his new responsibilities as Qinghua's Palace Lord. Qin Ke assured him of his support, promising to investigate Luo Yinfan's condition.
