The Journey of Chongzi Episode 29 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Tian Zhixie destroyed the Starlight staff despite Chong Zi's pleas, explaining that Luo Yinfan had used it to control her by embedding a Golden Needle and immortal spells within it. He asserted that the Holy Sword was Chong Zi's rightful weapon and questioned if she could now see who truly treated her with sincerity. Enraged by his actions, Chong Zi demanded Tian Zhixie undergo the Blood Torture, stating that he was not qualified to interfere in her affairs.
Tian Zhixie readily accepted the punishment, affirming that while he would face the Torture Hall, he believed his actions were not wrong. Zhuo Yao, leading various immortal lords, confronted Nanhua, demanding Luo Yinfan's removal as the chief of the immortal sect. They accused him of being lenient towards Chong Zi and neglecting his duties by training in seclusion when he should have been leading the fight against demons.
Luo Yinfan explained that his seclusion was to master a specific skill targeting Chong Zi, as rashly killing her would provoke Wang Yue and trigger a larger war. He promised to ensure Chong Zi would not harm the six realms, and if she did so before he completed his training, he would repay the debt tenfold. This promise, however, did not fully satisfy the demanding immortals, who still pressed for a definitive stance on Chong Zi.
With Luo Yinfan's promise, the other immortals departed. Zhuo Yao turned his anger on his son, Zhuo Hao, accusing him of siding with Luo Yinfan. He revealed that his efforts to become the chief of the immortal sect were solely to secure the position for Zhuo Hao. Zhuo Hao, however, rebuffed his father, stating he had no interest in such power.
He clarified that his supposed engagement to Min Suqiu was a unilateral decision by his family, one he had already tried to annul due to his lingering feelings for Chong Zi. Zhuo Yao expressed deep concern for Zhuo Hao's future, lamenting his son's lack of ambition and obsession with Chong Zi. In the Demon Palace's Torture Hall, Tian Zhixie underwent the Blood Torture, enduring countless bloodworm bites.
Wang Yue mocked Tian Zhixie, criticizing him for being overly lenient with Chong Zi and urging him to accelerate the awakening of her evil breath, especially now that Luo Yinfan was cultivating the Mirror Heart Skill. Tian Zhixie remained steadfast, asserting his own plan.
He reminded Wang Yue that even the Heavenly Venerable Yunqiu only mastered 70% of the Mirror Heart Skill, and with Luo Yinfan's agitated state, forcing himself into seclusion for its cultivation would likely lead to qi deviation, making success unlikely. Wang Yue brought Chong Zi to the Torture Hall, using the opportunity to tell her that Tian Zhixie was the only one truly devoted to her, and she was his greatest weakness.
Witnessing Tian Zhixie's agony under the Blood Torture, Chong Zi, recalling the kindness of her former Senior Mu, ordered the torture to stop and took Tian Zhixie back to Shuiyue City. That night, with Tian Zhixie by her side, Chong Zi experienced a rare peaceful sleep. Upon waking, Tian Zhixie pressed her again, urging her to confront her situation, emphasizing that both immortal and demon realms sought to kill her.
He reminded her of her past sufferings and that Wang Yue was pressing to forcibly awaken her evil breath. He warned that if she didn't become strong, she would remain a puppet, suggesting she could take revenge and protect herself by gaining power. After her night of peaceful sleep, Chong Zi resolved not to be a puppet any longer. She questioned Tian Zhixie about how to become stronger, and he suggested reclaiming the Tianmo Token.
Initially resistant to his and Ni Lun's ambition of unifying the Six Realms under demonic rule, Chong Zi accused him of merely wanting to use her. To sway her, Tian Zhixie took Chong Zi on a tour. They first witnessed the harsh realities of the Demon World, where young demon girls, unable to absorb external energies, resorted to killing each other to survive, a practice widely accepted as normal.
When Chong Zi tried to intervene, Tian Zhixie explained that piecemeal intervention was useless; only by reshaping the order of the Six Realms could such suffering end. Next, they observed the human realm, where immortal sects squabbled over territory amidst widespread famine and refugees, proving their inability to protect the people despite their abundant resources.
Seeing these injustices, Chong Zi declared that while she was a demon, she had no ill intent, and if she gained the Tianmo Token, she would not be like Wang Yue. Instead, she would use it to bring peace to the Six Realms and eradicate all unfairness. Tian Zhixie, seeing her resolve, affirmed her destiny to become the Celestial Demon, much like her father.
During their travels, Chong Zi encountered Wen Hua, the son of her former Uncle Wen, now a refugee with his grandson, Wen Yue. When immortal disciples, recognizing Chong Zi as a demon, tried to flee and invoked Luo Yinfan's name, Chong Zi seemed poised to attack. However, Luo Yinfan's promise to repay any harm she caused tenfold echoed in her mind, halting her. Tian Zhixie then urged her away.
After Chong Zi left, Luo Yinfan appeared, rescued Wen Yue, and, noting the boy's talent, brought him back to Nanhua, entrusting him to a reluctant Yu Du. Tian Zhixie later probed Chong Zi, implying her hesitation stemmed from fear of disappointing Luo Yinfan, and continued to assert that the suffering she witnessed was proof of the immortal sects' failings and her own destiny to rule.
Determined to bring peace and justice after witnessing widespread suffering, Chong Zi decided to reclaim the Tianmo Token. When she confronted Wang Yue, he agreed to grant her the token, but only if she married him as the Nine Underworld Empress and personally killed Dragon King Jinchi.
Although Tian Zhixie tried to provoke Chong Zi further about Luo Yinfan, Chong Zi accepted Wang Yue's conditions, stating her marriage was purely for the Tianmo Token and potentially to test Luo Yinfan's feelings. Wang Yue was intrigued by her resolve, believing she could surpass Ni Lun. Meanwhile, Dragon King Jinchi had been ruthlessly collecting vital essences to sustain his ailing wife, Lady Bai.
Lady Bai, however, was distraught by his cruelty and threatened her own life to make him stop. Jinchi, out of love, relented and promised to abandon his murderous ways, agreeing to live in seclusion with her. Yin Shuixian, upon hearing Chong Zi's decision to marry Wang Yue, urged her to reconsider, warning that such a union would irrevocably sever her ties with Luo Yinfan.
Chong Zi, weary of love, admired the devotion between Yin Shuixian and Sage Xueling but felt such happiness was beyond her. She held a faint hope that this marriage might serve as a final test of Luo Yinfan's true feelings. Yin Shuixian, seeing Chong Zi's resolve, wished her luck in facing Jinchi. Luo Yinfan, still in seclusion, refused to see anyone. However, a visitor informed him that Chengfeng was dead, killed by Chong Zi. Luo Yinfan immediately questioned how they could be certain of Chong Zi's involvement.
