The Journey of Chongzi Episode 13 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
After the recent events, Chong Zi's demeanor noticeably changed. She remained on Zizhu Peak, quiet and withdrawn, believing her Master was still upset with her. Luo Yinfan, concerned for her, traveled to the Land of Tribulations and brought back the snake. He explained that since Wan Jie was gone and the snake seemed attached to Chong Zi, he thought it would keep her company.
He also stated it was a way to make up for Chu Bufu's past mistakes, as properly guiding the snake and eradicating its demonic nature would prevent it from harming the mortal world. He had already removed its fangs, and its demonic aura would naturally diminish while in Nanhua. Chong Zi expressed her understanding and gratitude, and Luo Yinfan inwardly hoped his actions would bring her happiness.
Taking advantage of a rare peaceful period in the immortal sects, Luo Yinfan invited Chong Zi to visit the mortal world with him. At a restaurant, Chong Zi mentioned she had been there before with Chu Bufu. Luo Yinfan, with a hint of jealousy, inquired if she had been very close with him. Chong Zi quickly clarified that while her Uncle Wan was important to her as family, Luo Yinfan held a different, unique place in her heart.
She professed that he was not only her master but also the one she admired, trusted, and relied on the most—the one who would always dote on her and never abandon her. She attempted to express deeper feelings, admitting she didn't fully see him just as a master. However, Luo Yinfan gently interrupted her, stating that a master’s care for a disciple was only natural, thus diverting her confession.
Back in the demon realm, Protector Yin and Mengji expressed their resentment that the demon sword had been recovered by Nanhua, mocking Wan Jie's failure. They stirred up trouble in the mortal world, attacking innocent civilians and Nanhua disciples. Qin Ke bravely confronted them, but Demon King Wang Yue appeared, boasting of his intent to one day conquer Nanhua and cleanse the six realms.
Upon hearing this, Min Yunzhong was enraged, but he and Yu Du calmly deliberated, finding Wang Yue's actions suspicious, especially his sudden open defiance after losing the Ni Lun Sword. They decided to consult Luo Yinfan. Meanwhile, in the mortal world, Chong Zi excitedly anticipated a lantern festival. To her disappointment, due to the emperor's ongoing war, all the paraffin had been confiscated, leaving the lanterns unlit.
To lift her spirits, Luo Yinfan used his magic to illuminate every lantern in the city, then conjured a spectacular fireworks display. Deeply touched by his gesture, Chong Zi presented him with a simple jade pendant as a return gift. Though not a precious jade, it was a sincere token of her affection. She asked him to keep it, even if it meant hanging it in Chonghua Palace, insisting he must not discard or dislike it.
Luo Yinfan, to her delight, immediately placed the pendant on his wrist, promising never to remove it. Emboldened by this, Chong Zi again tried to confess her profound feelings, asserting their bond was more than that of an ordinary master and disciple. Before she could complete her declaration, Luo Yinfan received urgent news from Nanhua and had to leave immediately.
Upon his return, Luo Yinfan learned of the demon tribe's renewed activities, which necessitated accelerating the purification of the demon sword. Despite his reluctance and sorrow, he knew he had no choice but to proceed, though he couldn't bring himself to tell Chong Zi the full truth.
He visited the Six-world Monument to reinforce the barrier around the Ni Lun Sword, speaking to the remnants of Wan Jie’s soul, expressing his pain over the inevitable outcome but admitting he saw no other way. Later that night, in Chonghua Palace, he instructed Chong Zi to avoid the Six-world Monument for the next few days, explaining that various sect leaders and elders would be gathering in Nanhua, and he wished to spare her the awkwardness of encountering them.
He reiterated his desire to hear her unfinished confession once the immediate crisis passed. Chong Zi, convinced this meant their feelings were mutual, happily agreed to stay on Zizhu Peak. Elsewhere, Qin Ke received a letter from his mother, informing him that his uncle had been falsely accused and demoted, and his father was preparing to march north to challenge the emperor and establish himself as king, requesting Qin Ke's assistance.
Yu Du, while not forbidding Qin Ke from visiting his father, warned him against interfering in mortal affairs, as it would be defying heaven's will. Qin Ke was torn, his elderly father's plight weighing heavily on him. Later, Chong Zi's simple yet profound words, reminding him that cultivators should transcend worldly views and strive to create a six realms free of conflict, resonated with Qin Ke, helping him choose to remain in the immortal sect.
At Qinghua Palace, Lord Zhuo Yao was preparing to travel to Nanhua. His son, Zhuo Hao, eagerly demanded to join him, vehemently stating his sincere feelings for Chong Zi. Zhuo Yao was initially against it, but Yunji, Zhuo Hao's aunt, intervened. She urged her brother to let Zhuo Hao go, suggesting that a young man sometimes needs to experience setbacks to mature. Reluctantly, Zhuo Yao agreed, hoping Zhuo Hao would eventually give up after facing rejections.
Soon after, various sect leaders arrived in Nanhua to discuss the purification of the demon sword. Yu Xuzi and Lord Ming immediately insisted on seeing the sword. Luo Yinfan led them to the Six-world Monument. There, the residual soul within the Ni Lun Sword reacted violently. Luo Yinfan swiftly suppressed it, but the incident only solidified the other leaders' resolve to destroy the sword completely.
Lord Ming then proposed a purification method: submerging the sword in extremely cold water for seven days, then, protected by the spiritual energy of the Six-world Monument and Wufang Pearl, forging it with extremely hot fire for forty-nine days, using the Nine Heaven Fire from Qinghua's medicine furnace. While the elders were engrossed in discussions, Zhuo Hao seized the opportunity to find Chong Zi. He eagerly displayed his newly mastered ultimate technique, "Sea Flame."
In an instant, their surroundings transformed into a stunning blue starry sky. Taking advantage of the moment, Zhuo Hao confessed his feelings for her and asked her to marry him, promising she would never be bullied at Qinghua. Chong Zi politely declined, stating she had no romantic feelings for him and was determined to remain in Nanhua to serve her Master for life. At that moment, Yan Zhenzhu arrived and discreetly warned Chong Zi against Zhuo Hao's flirtatious reputation.
Chong Zi, unfazed, expressed her actual concern: that her Master might agree to the proposal. Still worried, she decided to investigate. Meanwhile, Min Yunzhong and Yu Du continued their discussion with Luo Yinfan. Min Yunzhong pressed him about Zhuo Hao's marriage proposal, suggesting that for the sake of inter-sect relations and Chong Zi's future, he should consider it.
Yu Du then raised the issue of Chong Zi's inborn evil breath, highlighting her potential to be exploited by demons and jeopardize the demon sword's purification. Luo Yinfan firmly stated he would take full responsibility. Yu Du challenged him, pointing out that his concern for Chong Zi had already exceeded a master's boundaries. Luo Yinfan retorted that their affairs required no outside interference. Yu Du accused Luo Yinfan of hiding the purification details from Chong Zi to spare her pain.
Luo Yinfan, with growing anger, reaffirmed that while he protected Chong Zi, he was not unreasonable. If she truly became a threat, he would act with "zero tolerance," as the immortal sect could not afford another Wan Jie. Just as the discussion intensified, they noticed Chong Zi standing silently at the doorway. Chong Zi stepped forward, acknowledging that she understood her inborn evil breath was a concern for the immortal lords and that the proposed marriage was a well-intentioned solution.
However, she adamantly stated that she never intended to be manipulated by the demon sword or cause trouble for her Master. To alleviate their worries, Chong Zi proposed abandoning her physical body and having her soul sealed within a soul-detaining mirror. This, she argued, would prevent her from casting any blood curses and render her unusable. Yu Du immediately voiced his opposition, but Min Yunzhong disagreed with him. Luo Yinfan, who had been silent, suddenly rose, his face etched with fury, and sternly declared that no one would be allowed to harm Chong Zi.
