Ling Wei denied framing him or having any connection to the hackers.
She then spoke of her past with Xu Cheng Yi, lamenting how he had promised to move to the U. S. after graduation, but instead chose to stay and research his algorithm, leading to their breakup. She claimed she had to be the one to suggest parting and insisted that Anson was merely a business partner, while Xu Cheng Yi was her only true love.
She admitted that her return was an attempt to rekindle their relationship, only to be saddened by his happiness with Xia Yan. Ling Wei vividly recounted saving Xia Yan in the elevator, confessing that while a fleeting thought of what might happen if Xia Yan died crossed her mind, she ultimately saved her, unable to bear the thought of Xu Cheng Yi's grief.
Yet, she expressed her pain at witnessing their affection daily without being able to voice her own sorrow, claiming she only wanted him to be happy. Xia Yan then entered, telling Ling Wei to stop pretending to be a good person and accusing her of orchestrating the video incident at Han Shuang's wedding.
When Ling Wei feigned ignorance, Xia Yan meticulously exposed her scheme, explaining that Ling Wei's impatience in trying to frame her to Han Shuang had revealed her true intent. The video, Xia Yan elaborated, was designed to destabilize her relationship with Xu Cheng Yi, hoping they would separate just as Han Shuang and Ma Ke had.
Xia Yan acknowledged her gratitude for being saved in the elevator but asserted her right to seek justice for the harm done to her, her best friend, and her boyfriend. Ling Wei tried to dismiss Xia Yan, threatening to damage her reputation by painting her as ungrateful, but Xu Cheng Yi intervened. Xia Yan revealed that the signing ceremony had been canceled, as the President had sent the American buyers home. Ling Wei doubted Xu Cheng Yi could have optimized it so quickly, to which Xu Cheng Yi countered that he had been perfecting it for seven years and that genuine effort, not tricks, leads to success. Ling Wei argued that hard work doesn't guarantee triumph and that she could always try again. Xia Yan, however, informed her that there would be no next time. She disclosed that the hackers had confessed, implicating a woman returning from the U. S.
, and that Lin Hao had also been arrested and admitted Ling Wei instructed him, with a substantial payment, to steal the upgraded "Confidante Planet" to create "Confidante Show." Xia Yan stressed that illegal actions would always be exposed, and Ling Wei had lost everything—her future, her influence, and Xu Cheng Yi, who now only loved Xia Yan. Infuriated, Ling Wei attempted to assault Xia Yan, but Xu Cheng Yi intercepted her, forcefully pushing her away.
He warned Ling Wei not to harm his woman and stated she would pay the price for her actions. Ling Wei, enraged, threatened to seek revenge upon her release from prison, vowing to make them experience her current pain. Xia Yan then called in the waiting police officers, informing them that Ling Wei had just confessed. Ling Wei then realized she had been manipulated into admitting her guilt.
After Ling Wei was taken away, Xia Yan clarified to Xu Cheng Yi that Lin Hao had been reluctant to testify, but the hackers' confessions and Ling Wei's self-incrimination had been sufficient. She explained that her intention was to provoke Ling Wei, not to treat Xu Cheng Yi as a prize, as she believed true love had to be mutual and equal.
Yan Changjun, impressed by Xia Yan's cunning, remarked on Xu Cheng Yi's fortune in finding such a girlfriend and mused about finding love himself. He acknowledged SG Technology's unconditional support for his vision. Following this announcement, SG's stock soared. Colleagues enthusiastically rallied for Xia Yan to be appointed director, a role she modestly accepted.
