You Are My Hero Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Two years ago, a group of robbers stormed Baoqing Jewelry Store. The SWAT team quickly arrived on the scene, ready to launch a surprise attack to rescue the hostages. At that moment, a customer named Old Yan suddenly collapsed from a heart attack. The police spotted him falling via surveillance footage and immediately called off the operation. Doctor Mi Ka, seeing this, quickly raised her hand to identify herself and carefully performed a brief check on Old Yan.

Mi Ka told the robbers that Old Yan’s condition was critical and that he needed to be taken to the hospital immediately. Agitated by the heavily armed police surrounding the jewelry store, one of the robbers fired a shot in panic, throwing the scene into chaos. The police quickly adjusted their strategy, seized the opportunity, and launched a surprise attack that caught the robbers off guard.

As the SWAT officers stormed in and evacuated the customers, Mi Ka was taken hostage by one of the robbers. He forced Mi Ka to hold a grenade and pressed a knife against her neck, demanding that the SWAT officer Xing Kelei drop his gun. Xing Kelei remained calm and precisely shot the robber dead.

He then quickly reached out to help Mi Ka hold the grenade, instructing her not to let go—so long as she didn’t release it, it wouldn’t explode. Mi Ka was extremely nervous, her hands trembling uncontrollably. To distract her, Xing Kelei chatted with her, asking for her name and encouraging her to slowly stand up. Mi Ka was too scared to move, but Xing Kelei patiently comforted and encouraged her.

He gradually helped her to her feet, and the two of them slowly walked out of the jewelry store. The bomb disposal team was already prepared. Xing Kelei guided Mi Ka to loosen her fingers one by one and took over holding the grenade himself. Once the transfer was successful, he instructed the other officers to take Mi Ka away while he handled the grenade. After Mi Ka had moved a safe distance, an explosion went off behind her.

She instinctively turned back to look for Xing Kelei but saw only thick smoke. Soon, two years passed. Mi Ka had returned to her normal life. One day, while packing to attend an emergency rescue training, Director He of the hospital introduced the training instructor to everyone—Deputy Commander of the Tiger Assault Team, Shu Wenbo. Shu Wenbo briefly introduced himself and said he was the deputy instructor. The lead instructor for this training was Xing Kelei.

Shu Wenbo then explained the nature of the training: it would be a closed training lasting two weeks. Anyone needing leave must have a signed request form approved by Chief Instructor Xing Kelei. After the briefing, Shu Wenbo told everyone to go change clothes and assemble on the playground in ten minutes. During the break, colleague Chen Tao eagerly offered water to Xu Yanshan and Mi Ka.

Xu Yanshan ignored him and instead asked Mi Ka about her request for leave. It turned out Mi Ka wanted to return to the hospital to attend a neurosurgery seminar hosted by Dr. Shao Yuhan. Her friend Xiao Man’s condition had been relapsing, and she hoped to seek help from Shao Yuhan. That afternoon, training started quickly.

Mi Ka tried to request leave from Shu Wenbo, who called Xing Kelei, but Xing didn’t answer as he was driving back to the base. Shu Wenbo refused to approve the leave, so Mi Ka had no choice but to sneak off during training. She happened to flag down Xing Kelei’s car on the roadside and asked him to drive her to the hospital. Xing Kelei agreed. During the ride, they chatted.

Not knowing who he was, Mi Ka talked badly about Xing Kelei. He didn’t reveal his identity. At the hospital, Dr. Shao Yuhan was just beginning surgery on patient Mo Xiaohui. The procedure was being live-streamed. Though it was a meeting meant for attending physicians, Mi Ka snuck in. Mid-surgery, Mo Xiaohui suddenly began to convulse and showed signs of hand paralysis. Shao Yuhan remained calm and carried out the preplanned procedure, successfully removing the brain tumor. The doctors in the conference room applauded his professionalism. After giving a few pointers, Shao Yuhan left with Director Zhang to check on the patient.

Episode 2 Recap

After Shao Yuhan came out of the ICU, Mi Ka hurried over with Xiao Man’s medical file, hoping to get his advice. Shao Yuhan was in a rush to catch a flight, so Mi Ka walked alongside him, explaining Xiao Man’s condition and hoping he’d take a look. Shao Yuhan said Mi Ka was too emotionally involved with her patients, which was unprofessional. Mi Ka countered that if numbness was professionalism, she’d rather never be professional.

Shao Yuhan hesitated but ultimately took the file and asked for her contact information, saying he would reply after reviewing it. Though overly emotional wasn’t ideal, he admitted it was better than indifference. After seeing Shao Yuhan, Mi Ka rushed back to the training base. She ran into Xing Kelei again. As she followed him, someone at the base called out to him as “Captain Xing,” and Mi Ka finally realized the man beside her was Xing Kelei.

Xing, wearing a stern expression, ordered Shu Wenbo to ring the bell for an emergency assembly. After everyone gathered, Xing Kelei called out Zhang Qingqing and Chen Xiaoyan, who had faked menstrual leave to skip training. Having overheard their conversation, he knew they lied and ordered them to run ten laps as punishment. The two, guilty and scared, obeyed silently. Xing Kelei then lectured the rest of the group, reiterating the importance of discipline.

He mentioned someone had snuck out of camp that afternoon, though he didn’t name Mi Ka. He emphasized that they were a team—one person’s mistake meant collective punishment. Since they were fifteen minutes late to the assembly, everyone had to run fifteen laps. After the grueling run, Xing Kelei explained the purpose of this training and told them to take it seriously, announcing that real training would begin the next day.

While resting, Mi Ka complained about Xing Kelei to Xu Yanshan. Xu Yanshan was worried that Mi Ka had offended him and might not get her completion certificate. Mi Ka felt unsure as well and planned to apologize to him early the next morning. However, Xing Kelei stated that leaving camp without permission was grounds for expulsion. But he showed leniency—only deducting 30 points and recording a major demerit, warning her that next time, she’d be kicked out.

Mi Ka quickly promised there wouldn’t be a next time. Before she left, Xing Kelei told her to clean the toilets after training. Mi Ka agreed. After she left, Xing Kelei pulled out a greeting card from his drawer—it was a thank-you card Mi Ka had written him before. He was surprised at how fate had brought them together again. Because he had worn a mask during the rescue two years ago, Mi Ka hadn’t recognized him.

Because she was cleaning toilets, Mi Ka missed the time window for using the bath. Just as she was about to leave, Xing Kelei appeared and asked her to clean the bathroom as well, giving her the key. In fact, he just wanted to give her a chance to shower. Mi Ka realized this and appreciated his thoughtfulness.

The next day during training, Xing Kelei was scheduled for an interview but suddenly changed his mind and sent Shu Wenbo in his place, choosing to personally lead the training instead. During the lunch break, Mi Ka washed her hair. Xing Kelei even helped her pour water. When Mi Ka looked up and saw him, she was startled. As she tried to leave, she slipped and fell into Xing Kelei’s arms—just like when he had saved her two years ago.

The moment felt awkward. Mi Ka quickly explained she hadn’t meant to. While Xing Kelei was leading training, TV director Ruan Qingxia arrived at the base. Shu Wenbo received her and led her to the dormitory. However, when he lifted her luggage, it broke open and her belongings scattered everywhere. Shu Wenbo felt very embarrassed. Meanwhile, Mi Ka’s training wasn’t going well.

She believed she had passed the patient transport drill, but Xing Kelei had her lie on the stretcher to experience it firsthand. Only then did she realize her mistake and accepted the punishment. When returning her helmet to Xing Kelei, she let go before he could take it. Mi Ka explained her hands were shaking, but Xing Kelei reminded her that a surgeon’s hands must never shake. He told her to meet him at 2 PM for individual training.

It was the same line he had said to her two years ago, which made Mi Ka pause in thought. When Mi Ka went to train with Xing Kelei, Shao Yuhan called. He asked her to bring Xiao Man to the hospital for additional tests. Hearing it was about Xiao Man, Mi Ka immediately left, explaining she had urgent business.

At the hospital, Shao Yuhan told her that a foreign research institute had developed a new and effective drug for the disease, with complementary treatments available. But everything would have to be done overseas. He could help Xiao Man get the opportunity. Xiao Man hesitated, worried about the cost. Shao Yuhan explained that the medical expenses would be covered due to the research nature of the treatment, but living expenses abroad would need to be paid by Xiao Man.

Mi Ka encouraged her to go and promised to help with the living expenses. Mi Ka’s unauthorized departure angered Xing Kelei again. He decided to expel her as promised. Mi Ka tried hard to explain, but Xing Kelei insisted that discipline came first. If she could leave camp for personal reasons here, he couldn’t trust what she’d do in real danger.

Feeling wronged, Mi Ka said she would never walk away and that she truly wanted to learn—not just to get the certificate. This scene was witnessed by Shu Wenbo and Ruan Qingxia. Ruan Qingxia, being Mi Ka’s friend, came over to comfort her. That evening, while doing chores, Mi Ka chatted with Ruan Qingxia about her recent hardships. Just then, Shao Yuhan called and said he had found a charity willing to sponsor part of Xiao Man’s expenses.

With Mi Ka’s help added, Xiao Man’s treatment was now possible. Mi Ka was overjoyed and her mood improved greatly. The next day, Xing Kelei began wilderness training with the trainees. Each group was assigned a SWAT officer. Everyone was paired up—except Mi Ka. Xing Kelei glanced at her without a word and then led the team out.

Episode 3 Recap

Mi Ka stopped Xing Kelei and asked why he was being so harsh with her. Xing Kelei replied that if he were truly targeting her, he would’ve expelled her the last time she left the camp without permission. He told Mi Ka to go take care of her personal matters and come back for training next year, then turned and left. Mi Ka still refused to give up.

Together with Ruan Qingxia, she waited at the base entrance for Xing Kelei to return. At that moment, an elderly man approached the guard with a bag, saying he wanted to leave it at the gate. The guard refused, and their argument caught the attention of Mi Ka and Ruan Qingxia. The old man, Uncle Li, was a lonely elder living in the mountains.

A few days ago, there had been a mudslide, and Xing Kelei rescued him during the operation. Out of gratitude, Uncle Li often brought things to Xing Kelei, but Xing Kelei always declined. Once, the gate guard accepted the items and was reprimanded by Xing Kelei, so he no longer dared to accept anything. Mi Ka kindly offered to keep the items for Uncle Li and also volunteered to take him home.

Late at night, Ruan Qingxia was still waiting for Mi Ka at the gate when Xing Kelei saw her. Worried, he hurried up the mountain to look for Mi Ka. He tried calling her, but her phone had no signal. Mi Ka had gotten lost and twisted her ankle after slipping down a slope. Luckily, she heard Xing Kelei calling and quickly shouted to indicate her location. Xing Kelei tried to help her up but realized she couldn’t walk.

After hesitating, he carried her back. Xing Kelei brought Mi Ka to the infirmary. While tending to her injury, Mi Ka explained she was sending Uncle Li home. Xing Kelei said he already knew, as Ruan Qingxia had reported it to his superior. In the end, Xing Kelei allowed Mi Ka to return to the team and continue her training.

Shu Wenbo found out that Ruan Qingxia had spoken to Xing Kelei’s superior, Captain Hao, and assumed she used her position to pressure him into keeping Mi Ka. He scolded Ruan Qingxia, which upset her. Xing Kelei clarified that Ruan Qingxia only explained the situation and didn’t ask for special treatment. Realizing his mistake, Shu Wenbo rushed to the filming site to find Ruan Qingxia.

When she saw him, she insisted on filming a video of Shu Wenbo performing a high-altitude descent. Still angry, Ruan Qingxia claimed the footage wasn’t good and made Shu Wenbo repeat the descent multiple times. As a result, he strained an old injury. After the shoot, Shu Wenbo apologized and said his injury was no big deal, making Ruan Qingxia feel a bit guilty. That afternoon, Ruan Qingxia received a package.

It turned out that Shu Wenbo had broken her makeup earlier and bought a replacement—though it was a knockoff. Still, Ruan Qingxia was touched by his thoughtfulness. Xing Kelei suddenly gathered the trainees for a simulated integrated training assessment. The scenario was that a mountaineer had fallen into a valley and needed rescue. Just like in earlier trainings, each group had five people and a SWAT officer for protection but no technical guidance.

Xing Kelei read out the group assignments, which included Yanshan, Chen Tao, Nie Xiaohui, Liu Rong, and Mi Ka. Xing Kelei personally led this team. Mi Ka’s group was the first to find the injured person. Just as they were about to help, a message came through the walkie-talkie: another team had found a more critically injured person and urgently needed a climbing rope.

Seeing their own patient’s condition wasn’t severe, Mi Ka decided to give their rope to the other team. The rest had no choice but to agree. Due to the delay, Mi Ka’s group finished last, but Xing Kelei gave them the highest score and praised them for prioritizing rescue based on severity. He also reminded Mi Ka to review basic rope training.

Mi Ka had missed the rope descent class, so she sought out SWAT officer Li Nian for extra training. What she didn’t know was that Xing Kelei had come to find her with a rope right after she left. When he saw Li Nian teaching Mi Ka, he silently walked away, visibly displeased. In the afternoon, Shu Wenbo took Ruan Qingxia to the field for combat training filming. Midway, Ruan Qingxia suddenly needed to use the bathroom.

But SWAT training doesn’t allow breaks, and there were no facilities in the wild. Refusing to go on the spot, Ruan Qingxia forced Shu Wenbo to drive her back to find a restroom.

Episode 4 Recap

After much trouble, they finally found a place. Anxious, Ruan Qingxia tried to get out quickly but her clothes got caught on the seatback. Shu Wenbo stopped her, warning that any more movement would tear her clothes open. Ruan Qingxia quickly asked him to help, but that only made the tear worse. In desperation, she told Shu Wenbo to give her his shirt, and he did.

After she came out of the restroom and saw Shu Wenbo waiting outside for her like a fool, she suddenly realized she had fallen for him. Soon, the final assessment—high-altitude descent—began. Mi Ka looked at the 27-meter-tall building with fear. Xing Kelei saw her nervousness and gave her a few words of encouragement, but she still couldn’t relax. One by one, the trainees completed their descent, until only Mi Ka remained on the rooftop.

As the minutes ticked by, Mi Ka finally summoned her courage and started the descent. Halfway down, her fear of heights overwhelmed her, and she fainted before finishing. Xing Kelei prepared a graduation party for the trainees. Before it began, he handed out graduation certificates. However, since Mi Ka hadn’t completed the descent, he didn’t give her one, staying true to his responsibilities. Mi Ka wasn’t discouraged—she knew she didn’t yet deserve it.

After everyone left, she wandered alone to the mountain top. Xing Kelei found her and tried to comfort her, even joking about whether she was thinking of doing something drastic. Mi Ka responded that her life had been saved by someone risking theirs, so she would live it well. She then recounted how she was once held hostage two years ago and constantly praised the SWAT officer who saved her.

Xing Kelei looked awkward—Mi Ka referring to him as “uncle” clearly bothered him. He asked if she had mistaken the identity, but Mi Ka insisted that the officer was calm and experienced, so he had to be older. That night, Ruan Qingxia also came to join the graduation party and told Mi Ka she liked Shu Wenbo. The celebration soon began. Chen Tao joked that after being tortured by their instructor for two weeks, it was time for payback.

He placed a heart rate monitor on Xing Kelei’s wrist and said if they could get his heart rate over 100, he’d have to accept a punishment. Everyone tried to make him exercise, but his heart rate stayed steady. Then it was Mi Ka’s turn. Ruan Qingxia encouraged her to use her charm. Mi Ka and Xing Kelei stared into each other’s eyes, and his heart rate began to rise.

Someone pushed Mi Ka toward him, and he instinctively caught her, causing his heart rate to spike to 120. Everyone teased him for being unable to resist beauty and said he had to honor the bet. After Xing Kelei’s punishment, Chen Tao and others tried to go after Shu Wenbo, giving Xing Kelei the chance to sneak away. Mi Ka, concerned he might not be feeling well, handed him a bottle of water.

While Mi Ka was using the restroom, her phone app sent an emergency alert—an accident had occurred 8 km away and required immediate assistance. The situation was urgent, so Xing Kelei and Mi Ka rushed to the scene. A truck had become stuck on a mountain road, and the driver was pinned in place and bleeding. Mi Ka volunteered to climb in and stop the bleeding; otherwise, it would be too late.

Xing Kelei was worried about her fear of heights, but Mi Ka insisted. She fought hard to overcome her phobia but still slipped. Fortunately, Xing Kelei held tightly to the rope and saved her. Once Mi Ka regained her composure, she attempted to climb into the driver’s seat again. This time, Xing Kelei used his own body as a bridge so she could climb over him into the cab.

Mi Ka quickly assessed the driver’s condition, got him breathing again, and stopped the bleeding just in time for the ambulance to arrive. After the driver was taken away, Mi Ka noticed Xing Kelei had injured his forehead. With no bandages left, she took off her tank top and used it to wrap his wound. The next morning, Xing Kelei went to Captain Hao to request that Mi Ka be reissued her emergency rescue graduation certificate.

Captain Hao was surprised, as Xing Kelei had personally denied her the certificate earlier. Xing Kelei quickly explained that Mi Ka’s performance proved she could overcome her acrophobia. Captain Hao had already heard about the incident and agreed to reissue the certificate. However, he asked if Xing Kelei had fallen for Mi Ka and was using his position to pursue her. Xing Kelei quickly denied it.

Captain Hao said dating wasn’t a problem, but if two people in such demanding jobs couldn’t take care of a family, that would be. With that, he signed the paperwork. At Renxin Hospital, Director He told the doctors who had just completed the training that only one of them would be accepted into neurosurgery; the rest would stay in general surgery. He told them to work hard.

Xu Yanshan was highly skilled, and everyone assumed she would be the one chosen. After Director He left, Mi Ka and Yanshan were heading upstairs in the elevator. They ran into a colleague who was bringing an emergency patient up for testing. He mentioned the surgery elevator was occupied, so they had to take the service elevator and asked the two women to help transport the patient. Halfway up, the elevator suddenly malfunctioned.

Episode 5 Recap

Director He quickly learned that Mi Ka, Yanshan, and a patient were trapped in the elevator. Shao Yuhan happened to be passing by and learned about the situation. He immediately directed the nurses present to prepare various surgical instruments and find people to assist. The elevator would take another thirty minutes to repair. Director He quickly asked the two to confirm the patient's condition. After an emergency examination, they found that the patient was in poor condition.

They reported the situation and showed the patient's condition to Shao Yuhan via video call. After assessing the situation, Shao Yuhan said they would pry open the elevator door slightly to pass the surgical instruments inside so the two of them could operate on the patient right there in the elevator. However, Yanshan was very nervous—after all, they lacked qualifications, and the conditions were so poor that she was afraid of making a mistake and being held accountable.

She didn't dare to proceed with the puncture. Seeing this, Mi Ka took the surgical instruments and performed the puncture herself. Fortunately, Mi Ka treated the patient in time, and the patient's condition stabilized. Once the elevator was repaired, the patient was taken for follow-up treatment. Renxin Hospital was about to hold a meeting to announce which department this group of doctors, including Mi Ka, would be assigned to.

Shao Yuhan checked the list, and as expected, Yanshan was assigned to neurosurgery. Shao Yuhan requested to add one more person and said he would personally explain it to Director Zhang. The person he wanted to add was Mi Ka. As soon as Shao Yuhan left, Xing Kelei arrived. He greeted Director He and said he was there to see Mi Ka.

It turned out that Xing Kelei had specially bought Mi Ka a new vest to return to her and invited her to lunch. Xing Kelei didn’t get to wait for Mi Ka before he received a call from his team and had to leave for a mission. Mi Ka and Yanshan bought coffee for their colleagues. Chen Tao casually picked up the gift bag Xing Kelei had given Mi Ka and found it contained a traditional undershirt.

Everyone immediately began gossiping. Mi Ka slipped away and called Xing Kelei, but he was on a mission and didn't answer. While passing a hospital room, Mi Ka saw Xiaoman and learned that Xiaoman’s visa had been approved. Mi Ka was very happy for her, reminded her to begin treatment properly after going abroad, and told her she had been assigned to neurosurgery and would be working under Shao Yuhan.

Xing Kelei and his teammates tracked a suspect to an abandoned factory, where a shootout occurred. During the gunfight, teammate Xiao Chao was unfortunately shot. Xing Kelei and Shu Wenbo quickly subdued the remaining criminals and brought both Xiao Chao and the suspect to Renxin Hospital. The hospital notified neurosurgery for a consultation. Shao Yuhan reviewed both cases, which were both critical and might require simultaneous surgeries. However, the hospital was understaffed and lacked a second lead surgeon.

After hesitating, Shao Yuhan decided to operate on the suspect first, as his surgical indicators were more obvious. Li Nian, in a moment of impulsiveness, criticized Shao Yuhan for prioritizing the suspect. Shao Yuhan replied that he was a doctor, not a judge, and his job was to treat and save lives. Not long after, Xiao Chao's surgical indicators also became apparent. Shao Yuhan decided to proceed with two surgeries simultaneously.

Yanshan didn’t understand his decision and worried the hospital would be held responsible. But Mi Ka said that life was more important than protocol. Shao Yuhan overheard this and was very pleased with what she said. The surgeries began quickly, but just when Mi Ka thought everything would go smoothly, an accident occurred.

Episode 6 Recap

Xiao Chao’s surgery went smoothly, but there was a complication with the suspect's—sudden increased bleeding. Shao Yuhan asked Mi Ka and the others to take over Xiao Chao’s operation while he went to assist with the suspect’s. As Shao Yuhan operated, Mi Ka discovered an arterial aneurysm in Xiao Chao’s brain. Since Shao Yuhan couldn’t come over, he instructed them to stabilize Xiao Chao’s blood pressure to prevent the aneurysm from rupturing.

Under Shao Yuhan’s guidance, both surgeries were ultimately successful. After the operation, he informed Xing Kelei and the others about Xiao Chao’s brain tumor and said they would need to monitor for possible aftereffects. Xing Kelei apologized for their earlier attitude, and Shao Yuhan said he understood and didn’t blame them. After work, Mi Ka found her completion certificate in her locker and felt a bit happy. As she packed up to leave, she saw Xing Kelei still sitting outside.

Seeing how upset he looked, she suggested they have dinner together. Xing Kelei said that when Shao Yuhan decided to save the suspect first, he too was angry but helpless. Mi Ka said that as doctors, they had no choice. Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath, and even when facing justice or mercy, they cannot intentionally kill a patient—everyone is equal before life. Doctors must always uphold their respect for life.

And Xing Kelei, as a police officer, upheld the dignity of the law and fulfilled his duty. Xing Kelei even said he wished he had been the one shot. Mi Ka comforted him, saying Xiao Chao probably felt the same and wouldn’t want his teammates to be hurt. Mi Ka shared her own struggles as a doctor, saying during her first year of internship, she encountered a highway accident where a family of three couldn’t be saved.

She felt powerless and guilty, but she had to keep being a doctor—only by continuing could she save more lives. The same applied to Xing Kelei—he had to keep going to protect more people. With Mi Ka’s comfort, Xing Kelei felt much better. The next day, Renxin Hospital’s management held a meeting to discuss how to handle Shao Yuhan. They felt his actions were too risky and disregarded hospital regulations, putting the neurosurgery department’s future in jeopardy.

Mi Ka raised her hand and spoke in Shao Yuhan’s defense. She said doctors shouldn’t just follow rules blindly, and that Shao Yuhan only performed two surgeries at once because he was confident in his ability to do so. Director Zhang agreed with her and did not reprimand Shao Yuhan—in fact, he even praised him. As a result, neurosurgery became well-known within the hospital. Xiaoman was about to go abroad for treatment.

Shao Yuhan and Mi Ka saw her off at the hospital entrance. Mi Ka became emotional and couldn’t help crying. On the way back, still wiping away tears, she walked behind Shao Yuhan. Someone from the hospital saw them and mistakenly thought Shao Yuhan had scolded Mi Ka and made her cry because of his temper. Ruan Qingxia discovered the traditional undershirt Xing Kelei gave Mi Ka and couldn’t help gossiping about their relationship.

Mi Ka told her to stop and diverted her attention by telling her Shu Wenbo’s updates. Ruan Qingxia immediately fell silent. Mi Ka said Shu Wenbo and Xing Kelei had been taking turns at the hospital to look after Xiao Chao. The next day, Ruan Qingxia went to the hospital to find Shu Wenbo and invited him to a meal. Shu Wenbo was reluctant, but Xing Kelei told him to escort her home.

After leaving the hospital, Ruan Qingxia kept pestering Shu Wenbo to let her go with him back to the police station. Xing Kelei and Mi Ka stayed behind to care for Xiao Chao, but Xiao Chao suddenly had a headache. Mi Ka told Xing Kelei to quickly borrow a wheelchair for a CT scan. At the CT room, they got into a conflict with other patients’ family members.

Xing Kelei, in a hurry, threw one of them to the ground when they got physical. Bystanders captured the moment on video and uploaded it online, leading to public criticism of Mi Ka and Xing Kelei. As a result, Mi Ka was punished and reassigned to the emergency department, while Xing Kelei was reprimanded. Captain Hao told him not to go to the hospital for now and said he’d send other colleagues to care for Xiao Chao.

On Mi Ka’s first day in the emergency department, a waiting patient suddenly suffered a heart attack and lost their pulse. After Chen Tao revived the patient, the patient began convulsing. Dr. Zhou instructed Chen Tao, Mi Ka, and others to restrain the patient while he went to get Director Wei.

Episode 7 Recap

Director Wei briefly inquired about the situation and then asked Mi Ka what to do. Mi Ka made an incorrect judgment and was scolded by Director Wei, which left her a bit discouraged. After the patient’s condition stabilized, Chen Tao gave Mi Ka a tour of the emergency department and introduced her to Senior Zhou Zhe, Nurse Feng Manman, and Chen Xiaoyan.

During her break, Mi Ka wanted to tell Xing Kelei that she had been reassigned to the emergency department, but she hesitated and didn’t send the message. Although Shao Yuhan didn’t keep Mi Ka in neurosurgery, he still cared about her. He even arranged to meet with Director Wei to ask about her performance and hoped she could grow and gain experience in the emergency department.

At the next morning meeting in the emergency department, Director Wei specifically mentioned Mi Ka and told her to follow Zhou Zhe for the time being. Mi Ka said she would do her best to learn. Although Xing Kelei hadn’t visited the hospital in the past few days, he had been thoughtfully sending breakfast to the neurosurgery department. He originally intended the breakfast for Mi Ka but didn’t know she had been transferred.

The neurosurgery colleagues thought Mi Ka had been treating them. When Xing Kelei finally visited Xiao Chao and found out, he felt it was unfair to Mi Ka and went to explain things to Shao Yuhan. When Mi Ka heard about this, she hurried to Shao Yuhan’s office and stopped Xing Kelei from speaking on her behalf. She told Shao Yuhan that she would do her best in the emergency department.

Seeing that Mi Ka was upset, Xing Kelei chased after her. Mi Ka told him he was no longer her instructor and that he didn’t need to concern himself with her anymore. She also said that nothing good ever happened when the two of them got involved. Even though Mi Ka told Xing Kelei they should keep their distance, she still felt upset. That night, she didn’t take a taxi home but chose to ride a bike instead.

Xing Kelei didn’t leave either; he waited outside the hospital until Mi Ka got off work and pretended to bump into her so he could offer her a ride home. Mi Ka got in the car, and after a few words, she fell asleep in the passenger seat from exhaustion. When they arrived at her apartment, Xing Kelei didn’t wake her.

He waited until she woke up on her own, said goodbye, and only left after watching her go inside and turn on the lights. Mi Ka went to neurosurgery to collect a report and get Yanshan’s signature. That’s when she realized everyone thought she had been treating them to breakfast. She stopped the delivery person and asked him to call the person who ordered the food. That’s when she learned that Xing Kelei had been the one ordering breakfast.

Xing Kelei explained it was a thank-you from the police team for their care of Xiao Chao. When he learned that Mi Ka hadn’t had any of the breakfast he sent, he was visibly disappointed. Trying to please Shao Yuhan, Yanshan brought him a lunchbox and asked him to look at her paper. However, the cases in the paper were ones Yanshan had never actually encountered.

Shao Yuhan criticized her for being unrealistic and did not accept the lunchbox, leaving Yanshan quite upset. The emergency department suddenly received an elderly Alzheimer’s patient who was vomiting. After a brief diagnosis, Mi Ka suspected a brain injury and called Director Wei. Director Wei immediately ordered tests and informed neurosurgery for a consultation. Thanks to Mi Ka’s careful observation, the correct diagnosis was made. After the patient recovered, their family brought fruit to thank Mi Ka.

Director Wei even praised her, which was rare, and chatted with her after work. He asked if she had considered why Shao Yuhan had transferred her to the emergency department and said working there was like going to war. He also asked how long she thought she could last in emergency.

Episode 8 Recap

Mi Ka said that she could definitely handle working in the ER. Director Wei was very satisfied with her attitude and encouraged her to keep working hard, saying that Shao Yuhan surely had his reasons for doing things the way he did. Just after Director Wei left, Mi Ka ran into Shao Yuhan. What Director Wei had just said made her understand Shao Yuhan’s expectations of her, so she invited him to have dinner together.

Shao Yuhan happened to be free and agreed. This scene was seen by Yanshan, who felt a bit upset seeing how close Mi Ka and Shao Yuhan were. Mi Ka took Shao Yuhan to a small street restaurant and ordered a dish of pig brain. She took the opportunity to consult him about glioma surgery before starting to eat. After dinner, Shao Yuhan drove Mi Ka home.

Xing Kelei was having barbecue near Mi Ka’s house on purpose, just to see her when she got home. Shu Wenbo’s mother came to find him. Shu Wenbo didn’t pick her up at the train station, but later received a message from Ruan Qingxia, who had already picked up his mother. Ruan Qingxia even took her shopping for clothes and helped her freshen up.

Shu Wenbo found Ruan Qingxia at the mall and pulled her aside, telling her to stop meddling in his affairs. But Ruan Qingxia wouldn’t listen, and Shu’s mother was very fond of her, leaving Shu Wenbo helpless. Shu’s mother could tell how Ruan Qingxia felt about her son, and when Ruan Qingxia went to park the car, she gave Shu Wenbo a few hints, telling him to cherish her.

But Shu Wenbo said he didn’t like Ruan Qingxia’s loud and brash personality. Renxin Hospital’s ER received a patient named Mumu, who had accidentally ingested dichlorvos and also fallen down the stairs. Director Wei quickly had the OR prepped to begin emergency treatment. Although Mumu had regained consciousness, the poisoning was severe and still required ongoing treatment, including continuous atropine injections.

However, the dosage was too small, and the ER staff had to break open multiple glass ampoules to gather enough. Just then, Xing Kelei came to discharge Xiao Chao. Before leaving, he came to say goodbye to Mi Ka and learned about the situation, so he took the initiative to contact his colleagues to deliver more atropine to Renxin Hospital. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, Mumu’s condition finally stabilized, and she was out of danger. The entire ER staff cheered.

Mi Ka, seeing Xing Kelei, hugged him excitedly and happily said, “Thank you, police officer!” The ER staff also bowed and echoed her thanks. After everything settled down, Xing Kelei drove Mi Ka home again. Xing Kelei’s older sister Xing Keyao suddenly returned to the country and asked Xing Kelei to pick her up at the airport. Although he was reluctant, he still went.

Xing Keyao said this return was for work—her company had a new product launching in China and she came to oversee it. That evening, Xing Keyao attended a banquet, and after the banquet, she happened to run into Shao Yuhan. They were once a couple and even drove the same car model. The two exchanged a few awkward pleasantries before parting ways. Although Mumu was out of danger, her follow-up treatment required a large amount of money.

Her father had borrowed money everywhere but still couldn’t gather enough. Mi Ka saw the difficulty he was facing and, after some hesitation, lent him her own money. As a result, Mi Ka no longer had enough to pay her rent. She had to temporarily stay in the hospital’s on-call room while looking for a new place. Ruan Qingxia went to the police station to look for Shu Wenbo, but instead bumped into Xing Kelei. Ruan Qingxia mentioned that Shu Wenbo hadn’t contacted her in several days and also mentioned Mi Ka’s move.

Episode 9 Recap

Xing Kelei was surprised to learn that Mi Ka had moved. He quickly asked Ruan Qingxia what had happened. Ruan Qingxia then told him that Mi Ka had lent her money to a patient’s family and didn’t want to borrow money from others, so helping her now meant helping her find a suitable apartment.

After saying that, Ruan Qingxia was about to leave and asked Xing Kelei to pass a message to Shu Wenbo—that last time was her fault and it won’t happen again. Xing Kelei agreed and added that if it didn’t work out, they could find someone else. But Ruan Qingxia said she had her heart set on that wooden block of a man.

Chen Tao saw that Mi Ka hadn’t rented a new place yet and mentioned that a friend of his had a room for rent. He took Mi Ka to see it, and she was very satisfied with the apartment—it was affordable and met her needs. However, Chen Tao said the landlord would only rent out the upstairs bedroom and that the study was off-limits. Mi Ka would also need to clean the entire unit herself.

Mi Ka readily agreed but asked if she needed to meet the landlord to sign a contract. Chen Tao hurriedly said there was no need—Mi Ka could just transfer the monthly rent to him, and he would pass it on to the landlord. Xing Keyao arranged to meet with Shao Yuhan and showed him the material for her company’s new product line—a neurosurgical preoperative planning system.

It could help doctors choose the best surgical tools and optimal entry routes, and even simulate surgeries. She hoped to find a group of respected neurosurgeons to be the first to use it and wanted Shao Yuhan to consider it. Shao Yuhan agreed to look into it but couldn’t promise they’d use the product. Xing Keyao said she understood and that she just hoped he would treat the matter professionally. She had confidence in the product.

After finishing the business talk, things got a little awkward, and Shao Yuhan excused himself, saying he had something else to do. Yanshan made cookies again for Shao Yuhan and brought them to him. After the morning rounds, Shao Yuhan called her into his office and asked how much time she spent writing medical records yesterday, whether she had scheduled time to study for the upcoming evaluation, and how long it took her to make the cookies.

Then he called in Dr. Jia Li, who happened to be passing by, and asked him to distribute the cookies to their colleagues. He told Yanshan to focus her attention where it was needed and to stop doing things like this. Yanshan was very disappointed but could only say she would do her best. What Mi Ka didn’t know was that the landlord of her new place was actually Xing Kelei.

Xing Kelei had been keeping track of Mi Ka’s situation through Chen Tao. Whenever Mi Ka needed something, Xing Kelei would immediately make up for it. This made Mi Ka very uneasy—she even thought she was being stalked. She quickly called Ruan Qingxia and told her about it. Ruan Qingxia also felt something was off and suspected the landlord had been peeping on Mi Ka. Both of them were frightened.

Ruan Qingxia guessed that maybe Chen Tao liked Mi Ka and was doing all of this to pursue her. Mi Ka didn’t believe it and planned to talk to Chen Tao about it the next day. The next morning, Chen Tao brought her breakfast again. Remembering what Ruan Qingxia had said, Mi Ka asked Chen Tao if he had feelings for her and said she wouldn’t be getting into a relationship for the next few years.

Chen Tao then told this to Xing Kelei, who felt a bit helpless. After observing for a day, Mi Ka concluded that Chen Tao probably didn’t like her, but she still felt something was off about the apartment. She hoped Ruan Qingxia could stay with her for a few days. Ruan Qingxia, however, saw it as a great chance to get close to Shu Wenbo and said she might have a big case, then called Shu Wenbo over.

Shu Wenbo, a bit worried, went to Mi Ka’s place. When he heard Ruan Qingxia say the landlord was a creep, he found it odd and told them it was actually Xing Kelei’s apartment. Mi Ka pretended there was a power outage and messaged Chen Tao. Chen Tao then told Xing Kelei, who rushed over to fix the electric meter and was caught red-handed by Mi Ka.

But Xing Kelei had already coordinated with Chen Tao and insisted he had no idea it was Mi Ka who had rented the place—just that the apartment was vacant, and he rented it out. Mi Ka wasn’t entirely convinced. Ruan Qingxia thought Xing Kelei must like Mi Ka, but Mi Ka didn’t want to assume too much. Shao Yuhan recently had an upcoming surgery. When Mi Ka heard about it, she wanted to observe. Shao Yuhan agreed.

Yanshan was displeased when she found out—she felt it was inappropriate for Mi Ka to watch since she was no longer in the neurosurgery department. But Shao Yuhan said doctors weren’t divided like that, and anyone who wanted to observe could come. He added that Mi Ka was just temporarily assigned to the ER and hadn’t left neurosurgery for good.

Episode 10 Recap

While shopping, Shu's mother got lost, so she contacted Ruan Qingxia for help. Ruan Qingxia then took Shu's mother home. Shu's mother had bought a big bag of groceries and invited Ruan Qingxia to stay for dinner. Taking the opportunity, she directly asked Ruan Qingxia if she liked Shu Wenbo. When Ruan Qingxia admitted it, Shu's mother said she would help her, since her son was such a blockhead and wouldn’t realize anything unless knocked on the head.

When Shu Wenbo returned and saw Ruan Qingxia at home, he was startled. During dinner, Shu's mother kept trying to matchmake Shu Wenbo and Ruan Qingxia. Shu Wenbo felt awkward, while Shu's mother already treated Ruan Qingxia like her daughter-in-law. She even turned down a match arranged by Shu Wenbo’s second aunt, saying he already had someone. After dinner, Ruan Qingxia suddenly had an allergic reaction. She then admitted she was allergic to eggs.

Earlier, Shu's mother had picked up a piece of egg pancake for her, and out of politeness, she ate it without refusing, which led to the allergy. Shu Wenbo went to buy ointment for her and applied it. When he asked why she ate the egg pancake, Ruan Qingxia said it was something Shu Wenbo liked, and she just wanted to taste what he liked. Ruan Qingxia directly confessed her feelings, surprising Shu Wenbo.

She told him that she would prove she’s a good girl. Just as Shu Wenbo was at a loss, Xing Kelei called, asking him to join a mission. Shu Wenbo had no choice but to leave Ruan Qingxia and go meet Xing Kelei. Renxin Hospital got busy because a criminal had kidnapped celebrity Xuan Meiqi. Chen Tao happened to attend Xuan Meiqi's concert that night, where an accident caused a stampede. The criminal, Lü Fan, fled with Xuan Meiqi.

Xing Kelei led the team in pursuit, while Mi Ka rushed from the hospital to the scene to support. According to reports, Lü Fan had explosives strapped to his body, so Xing Kelei forced Lü Fan’s car to the outskirts. Surrounded by the SWAT team, Lü Fan could only hold Xuan Meiqi hostage.

Xing Kelei observed and told Captain Hao that Lü Fan used to work as a prop man in film crews, so the explosives might be fake, suggesting they not carry out a sniper operation. At that moment, Mi Ka arrived. She noticed Xuan Meiqi was having an asthma attack and her condition was urgent. Xing Kelei initially wanted Li Nian to disguise as a doctor to deliver an oxygen device, but Lü Fan insisted a female doctor come.

Xing Kelei had no choice but to put a bulletproof vest on Mi Ka and told her to leave immediately after putting the oxygen mask on Xuan Meiqi. He reassured Mi Ka that with him there, nothing would happen to her. As he pulled down his face shield, Mi Ka suddenly remembered the SWAT officer who had once saved her in the jewelry store — Xing Kelei looked just like him.

But with the crisis at hand, Mi Ka didn’t have time to think and quickly went forward to help Xuan Meiqi. Taking advantage of the moment, Xing Kelei confirmed the explosives on Lü Fan were fake. While Mi Ka distracted Lü Fan, the SWAT team subdued him and took him away. Mi Ka stayed behind to treat Xing Kelei’s wound, shielding his face with her hand, trying to confirm if he was the one who had saved her years ago.

That night at home, Mi Ka even dreamed that the SWAT officer from two years ago was Xing Kelei. The dream left her flustered, and she quickly called Ruan Qingxia to analyze her feelings. Ruan Qingxia believed Mi Ka had developed feelings for Xing Kelei. Because Xing Kelei was injured, Captain Hao granted him three days off. He immediately went to the hospital to wait for Mi Ka to get off work so they could have dinner together.

Mi Ka said she needed to go home to organize some materials, so Xing Kelei suggested eating at home instead. He bought a bunch of groceries and started cooking. Mi Ka was worried that Xing Kelei wouldn’t leave after dinner — being alone with a man in her home made her nervous. She even called Ruan Qingxia for advice, who didn’t think it was a big deal and said it was a good opportunity.

Xing Kelei then asked Mi Ka for help. Although his hand injury wasn’t serious, he pretended it was so she’d assist him. While helping, Mi Ka recalled all their past experiences together. After dinner, Xing Kelei opened a bottle of wine to thank Mi Ka for her cooperation in safely rescuing the hostage. They chatted while eating, and Mi Ka asked about the most dangerous mission he’d ever done. Xing Kelei shared his experience performing his first mission as a sniper.

Episode 11 Recap

Mi Ka asked Xing Kelei when he’d return to the team. He said he had three days off and didn’t need to go back today. Realizing this, Mi Ka became nervous, worried he’d stay overnight. She went to the bathroom to calm herself and came back to find that Xing Kelei had already cleaned up. Xing Kelei asked what her plans were for the evening.

Mi Ka fumbled for an answer and kept stepping back until Xing Kelei suddenly braced against the wall beside her. Mi Ka closed her eyes nervously, thinking he was going to kiss her — but he only reached up to turn off the living room light, making Mi Ka feel a bit embarrassed. The next morning, Xing Kelei wanted to drive Mi Ka to the hospital, using the excuse of needing to get his bandage changed.

At the hospital, they ran into Shao Yuhan, who greeted Mi Ka and invited her to a gathering at his house that night with his classmates from medical school. Mi Ka agreed. Xu Yanshan was upset that Shao Yuhan hadn’t invited her and complained to Chen Tao that Shao Yuhan was favoring Mi Ka. Xing Kelei happened to overhear the complaint.

At that moment, Xing Keyao called, asking Xing Kelei to have dinner with her that night — but it was actually a blind date she’d arranged for him. At dinner, Xing Kelei didn’t treat the blind date Xing Keyao brought with any warmth. On the way home, Xing Keyao said she was back with a mission: either she or Xing Kelei had to get married, or their mother would return and personally supervise. Xing Kelei was troubled.

Xing Keyao saw through his feelings for Mi Ka. Just then, they saw Mi Ka returning home. Xing Keyao visited Mi Ka’s place and introduced herself. Mi Ka initially thought Xing Keyao was Xing Kelei’s girlfriend, especially with her imposing manner. But Xing Keyao soon clarified that she had studied medicine too and told Mi Ka to reach out anytime she needed help. Mi Ka was relieved. Before leaving, Xing Kelei invited Mi Ka to hang out the next day.

Mi Ka was excited and even put on a face mask for the occasion, while Xing Kelei was worried about where to take her. The next morning, both Mi Ka and Xing Kelei began preparing for the date. Mi Ka carefully chose her outfit while Xing Kelei packed a large bag of snacks. On the way, they chatted. Xing Kelei mentioned his parents were medical equipment agents and often had chances to travel abroad.

Mi Ka shared her own family background and asked where they were going. Xing Kelei said he was taking her to a lavender garden and had written notes on his hand to introduce the flowers. Mi Ka noticed the notes and found him adorable. After a long journey, they arrived, but it suddenly started raining. Xing Kelei then planned to take her to a trendy restaurant, but received an emergency call from Captain Hao.

Feeling guilty, he looked at Mi Ka, but she understood and urged him to go. After leaving, Xing Kelei called his friend Lu Feng to pick up Mi Ka. Not knowing Xing Kelei had made arrangements, Mi Ka called Ruan Qingxia to come get her. Ruan Qingxia had just arrived when Lu Feng also showed up. He immediately recognized Ruan Qingxia and invited both of them into the car, then took them to a restaurant they’d been wanting to try.

At the table, Lu Feng shared some embarrassing stories of Xing Kelei from school. Ruan Qingxia asked Lu Feng about Shu Wenbo and told him she was pursuing Shu Wenbo. Lu Feng was a bit surprised. That night, Mi Ka had a night shift and didn’t receive Xing Kelei’s message until the next morning, when they greeted each other.

Episode 12 Recap

While Xing Kelei and his team were shopping in a convenience store, a fight broke out outside. Just as they were about to intervene, a girl rushed forward and skillfully subdued the thugs. Watching her technique, Xing Kelei thought she must be a police officer too. Meanwhile, at home, Mi Ka wanted to work on her thesis but found her computer broken. Frustrated, she posted about it on her social feed.

Xing Kelei saw the post but was about to leave for an extended special training session, so he asked Xing Keyao to lend his computer to Mi Ka. Xing Keyao took Mi Ka to Xing Kelei’s study and warned her not to break his LEGO models. But right after Xing Keyao left, Mi Ka accidentally knocked over and broke Xing Kelei’s carefully assembled LEGO.

While Xing Kelei was busy training, Mi Ka worked hard at the hospital and tried to fix the LEGO in her spare time. After work one day, she wanted to ride a shared bike home but couldn’t scan any usable bikes. The one that finally worked was broken. Luckily, she ran into Shao Yuhan, who gave her a ride.

After learning her computer was broken and she was struggling with her thesis, he gave her a website where she could find relevant resources. At the police station, Lu Feng played basketball with Xing Kelei and the others. He mentioned he wanted to pursue Ruan Qingxia. He knew she liked Shu Wenbo but believed she was only chasing him because she wasn’t used to being rejected. Lu Feng asked Shu Wenbo if he had feelings for Ruan Qingxia.

If not, he would make a move. Shu Wenbo was a little annoyed and said he had nothing to do with Ruan Qingxia. Meanwhile, Shu’s mother was still trying to match them. She pretended she wanted to see a movie and had Shu Wenbo buy tickets, then gave one to Ruan Qingxia. Shu Wenbo arrived at the theater only to find her sitting next to him. He tried to leave, but Ruan Qingxia pulled him down to sit.

Halfway through the movie, Shu Wenbo recalled Lu Feng’s words and told Ruan Qingxia that she was only pursuing him for the thrill, not real affection. Hurt that her feelings were seen as worthless, Ruan Qingxia left in anger. At the gym, she ran into Lu Feng and told him what happened. Lu Feng felt guilty, saying it was his words that caused the misunderstanding. Ruan Qingxia didn’t blame him.

She knew Shu Wenbo had unresolved issues in his heart, and even if it hadn’t been Lu Feng, someone else would’ve eventually triggered them. Due to Xiao Chao’s injury and reassignment to desk duty, the Tiger Team needed a new member. Three officers — Cui Zhihao, Xu Ning, and Zhuo Wenjing — were selected for the trial. Zhuo Wenjing was the girl who had bravely acted at the convenience store.

She briefly introduced herself, saying she was once a shooting champion and had been specially recruited into the force. During training, she even outperformed top sharpshooter Shu Wenbo. Her goal was to defeat Xing Kelei. After training, Xing Kelei planned to dine with Mi Ka, but Li Nian and others had already arranged a team dinner with the new recruits. Left with no choice, Xing Kelei asked Mi Ka to join them.

During dinner, Zhuo Wenjing asked if Mi Ka was Xing Kelei’s girlfriend. Mi Ka glanced at him awkwardly and denied it, while Xing Kelei also looked uncomfortable. Meanwhile, after being rejected by Shu Wenbo, Ruan Qingxia drank alone at a bar. Concerned, the waiter called the boss — who happened to be Lu Feng. Seeing Ruan Qingxia in such distress, he felt deeply sorry for her.

Episode 13 Recap

Ruan Qingxia was dead drunk and unconscious. With no other choice, Lu Feng booked a hotel room and settled her in. Watching the sleeping Ruan Qingxia, he murmured to himself—he had thought Ruan Qingxia, like him, was a carefree butterfly flitting through life, but he hadn’t expected her to be so serious about Shu Wenbo. After finishing dinner, Mi Ka declined Xing Kelei’s offer to take her home and took a taxi instead. She was very upset about the dinner.

She had kindly chosen a restaurant close to the base, but Xing Kelei had brought along a bunch of colleagues, including a female SWAT officer. This made Mi Ka feel very uneasy. Plus, she wasn’t even officially Xing Kelei’s girlfriend yet, so she naturally denied Zhuo Wenjing’s questions. She sent a message to Ruan Qingxia to vent her frustration, but Ruan Qingxia was fast asleep—and Lu Feng ended up seeing the message instead.

Meanwhile, Xing Kelei kept waiting for a message from Mi Ka but got nothing. Frustrated, he went to talk to Shu Wenbo, but Shu didn’t notice anything unusual about Mi Ka. Xing Kelei had to leave. As he passed by Li Nian’s room, he overheard Li Nian analyzing why Mi Ka had been in a bad mood that day. Xing Kelei quickly pulled Li Nian out to ask further questions.

Li Nian guessed that Mi Ka had taken the dinner seriously and only became upset after seeing her and Zhuo Wenjing at the restaurant. After hearing the analysis, Xing Kelei hurriedly sent Mi Ka an apology message and called her, hoping to arrange another proper date. They agreed to meet again the afternoon after next, and Mi Ka finally felt better. The next morning, Ruan Qingxia woke up in the hotel room and realized her clothes had been changed.

Just then, Lu Feng walked in with breakfast. Ruan Qingxia instinctively thought Lu Feng had done it, but he quickly explained that she was drunk last night and that the clothes were changed by a female staff member. Ruan Qingxia calmed down. Lu Feng thoughtfully made sure she ate breakfast. Ruan Qingxia thanked him and asked him to keep it a secret. Lu Feng agreed. An earthquake suddenly struck Linan County.

The city where Mi Ka was also experienced aftershocks with mild tremors. The hospital quickly descended into chaos. Director Zhang called an emergency meeting, announcing the activation of the emergency response plan. All vacations were canceled, and all departments were to send doctors and nurses to form medical rescue teams heading to the disaster area. At the same time, the Fierce Tiger Commando Unit was dispatched to Linan County for disaster relief and would depart that very night.

Captain Hao had Xing Kelei brief everyone on key precautions and asked them to call their families. After their department meetings, each unit began mobilizing staff to join the rescue teams. Xu Yanshan and Mi Ka both signed up. Mi Ka rushed home to pack, just as Xing Keyao was heading out to find her. Xing Kelei had called Xing Keyao, guessing Mi Ka would go to Linan County for the rescue.

He asked Xing Keyao to deliver his emergency rescue kit to Mi Ka and also inquired whether Shao Yuhan would be going. Mi Ka confirmed that Shao Yuhan would be leading the team this time. Xing Keyao nodded and offered to help with medical resources if Mi Ka needed anything, telling her to call anytime. The Fierce Tiger Commando Unit arrived at the disaster area ahead of time.

Soon after, the Renxin Hospital medical rescue team also arrived at the emergency medical base in Qiushan County. The first mission of the commando unit was to help set up the base and maintain order. Captain Hao took on the task. As Director Wei was still assigning tasks to the ER doctors, two trucks full of injured people arrived outside, causing chaos.

Luckily, Xing Kelei and his team arrived to help, but not long after, Xing Kelei received a new mission. He and Mi Ka could only exchange a distant farewell before hurrying off in different directions. Xing Kelei led a small assault team on foot into the mountainous area of Linan County to assess the disaster. Meanwhile, Mi Ka received a severely injured patient named Xu Ke, who needed immediate brain surgery.

Shao Yuhan told Mi Ka to stay behind and perform the operation with Xu Yanshan and Jia Li. However, during the surgery, Xu Ke’s blood sprayed out, frightening Xu Yanshan so much that she froze. Mi Ka quickly took over and used a device to drain the hematoma. Although the blood clot was removed, Xu Ke’s heartbeat suddenly stopped.

Episode 14 Recap

Mi Ka immediately ordered adrenaline and began defibrillation for Xu Ke, but despite their efforts, there was no sign of life. Just then, Shao Yuhan walked in and declared Xu Ke dead. Everyone felt deeply saddened, especially Mi Ka. Shao Yuhan told Jia Li and Xu Yanshan to handle the body, then took Mi Ka out to assist with another surgery. During the operation, another aftershock struck, but thankfully it didn’t affect the procedure, and the surgery concluded successfully.

Xu Yanshan left the OR still shaken from earlier. She kept thinking about the blood that had sprayed on her and felt terrified. Chen Tao tried to comfort her, but she couldn’t calm down. After Mi Ka finished the surgery, she saw the sorrowful Xu Yanshan outside and felt down herself. Seeing this, Shao Yuhan spoke to both of them, telling them they had to adapt quickly—emotions were the most useless thing in such situations.

That night, seeing that Mi Ka and Xu Yanshan were still feeling low, Shao Yuhan comforted them by saying that the greatest helplessness for a doctor is realizing that no matter how much they’ve learned, they still can't defy fate. But even so, they must not give in. As doctors, their duty is to snatch more lives from the hands of death. Xing Kelei’s team discovered a group of disaster survivors in the mountains.

Upon inquiry, they learned they were villagers from Mao Village, where many elderly residents couldn’t move. Xing Kelei’s team was heading to Li Village, and the survivors offered to guide them. Once there, they learned that the nearby Yao Gou Village had suffered severely—many houses had collapsed, and many escapees had fled to Li Village. After gathering information, Zhuo Wenjing found a clearing on the mountain behind the village that could be used for airdrops.

Xing Kelei quickly took his team to mark the site with a cross and asked someone to notify the command center. However, there was no signal, so he sent someone to the mountaintop to use the radio. After contacting the command center and reporting the situation and airdrop coordinates, they suddenly heard someone calling for help. Xing Kelei rushed over.

The injured person turned out to be Dr. Chen, a hydrology expert from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who had been hit in the head by falling rocks and had been unconscious all night. Xing Kelei and his teammates carried him on a stretcher, planning to send him back to base through a passage cleared at Long'er Valley. As night fell, Zhuo Wenjing accidentally fell off a cliff. Xing Kelei immediately rappelled down to check on her.

Since she was too weak to help herself, Xing Kelei instructed Luo Ting to take Dr. Chen back to base first and bring back a doctor. When Mi Ka learned that Xing Kelei and Zhuo Wenjing were trapped below the cliff, she rushed to the site with Luo Ting. Mi Ka treated Zhuo Wenjing’s wounds and urged Luo Ting and the others to pull her up quickly.

Shu Wenbo, at the medical base, saw Ruan Qingxia, who had come to cover the disaster and help transport the injured. Embarrassed to greet her, he silently stepped forward and took over the stretcher from her. Ruan Qingxia didn’t seek out Shu Wenbo either, instead getting ready to start work with the cameraman. At the base, Shu Wenbo noticed a suspicious man in a gray hoodie.

Pretending to leave, he watched as the man snuck into the supply container to steal items. After the theft, the man ran into Xu Yanshan. Seeing him with stolen goods, she gave chase. Shu Wenbo caught him at the door. Ruan Qingxia witnessed it and hurried over to check if Xu Yanshan was okay. She also mentioned a company wanting to donate medical supplies, so Xu Yanshan took her to find Director Chen of the logistics department.

As they talked, Ruan Qingxia didn’t even glance at Shu Wenbo, which left him feeling a little disheartened. Xing Keyao arrived at the disaster area with a truck of supplies and even brought Shao Yuhan some chocolate and instant coffee. Just then, her subordinate reported that media had captured footage of their supply delivery and wanted to interview Xing Keyao. She agreed. The subordinate then asked if Shao Yuhan would agree to be interviewed. Shao Yuhan’s expression changed.

He said he had no time and turned away abruptly. Xing Keyao was puzzled and asked if the reporters had been arranged by her. The subordinate clarified that they had come independently to shoot and weren’t invited. Though some roads to the earthquake’s epicenter in Linan County had been cleared, communications were still down, so many injured couldn’t be transported to the base. The command center decided to send a small medical team to the epicenter. Shao Yuhan decided to personally lead the team and asked Director Wei to gather the personnel.

Episode 15 Recap

Thoracic surgeon Lin Zhifeng, along with nurses Yang Yuan, Liu Yu, and Mi Ka, all signed up for Shao Yuhan’s medical team. Shao Yuhan reminded everyone that the area they were going to—Xinguan Village in Linan County—was only partially accessible by vehicle, and the rest of the journey had to be completed on foot. Xing Kelei was also among those heading to Xinguan Village.

Halfway through the trip, everyone got out of the car with their supplies and began hiking toward the village. Upon arrival, they efficiently evacuated and treated the injured villagers. The next day, while continuing their search and rescue efforts, the team discovered a patient with gas gangrene. After a brief examination, Shao Yuhan instructed the team to immediately prepare for surgery. Given the infectious nature of gas gangrene, everyone took strict protective measures.

Back at base camp, Shu Wenbo learned via walkie-talkie that Linjia Village had experienced an aftershock. He quickly led a small team to provide support. Ruan Qingxia, who overheard this, followed Shu Wenbo to help. In Linjia Village, rescuers discovered a little girl buried under rubble. Ruan Qingxia joined in the rescue effort, but nearby reporters tried to conduct interviews despite the emergency. Angered, Ruan Qingxia scolded them away. Fortunately, the girl was successfully rescued.

With Shu Wenbo’s approval, Ruan Qingxia decided to film a public service video urging residents to be cautious of aftershocks and to avoid staying indoors. Meanwhile, Shu Wenbo was trying to convince Granny Zhang to go to the temporary relief point, but she insisted on waiting for her husband. Ruan Qingxia stepped in and offered to film a video for the rescue team, so they could all help search for her husband.

Just as they persuaded Granny Zhang, another aftershock struck. Shu Wenbo quickly led her out of the house and returned to pull Ruan Qingxia out too. Thankfully, no one was injured. Ruan Qingxia kept her promise and filmed a video to help find Granny Zhang’s husband, Liu Aiguo. Granny Zhang described his appearance and mentioned that he had Alzheimer’s, hoping people could help find him.

That night, Ruan Qingxia watched the video for Granny Zhang with her headphones on, not realizing Shu Wenbo had arrived. He called out several times, but thinking she was ignoring him out of anger, he quickly apologized for his previous mistake and misunderstanding. He admitted that he had underestimated her and acknowledged that she was an outstanding journalist. However, Ruan Qingxia didn’t hear any of this.

The next day, Ruan Qingxia wanted to explain what happened the previous night, but Shu Wenbo received word that someone had found Granny Zhang’s husband. The two of them quickly brought Granny Zhang to Mingyue Village to reunite with him. Watching the couple reunite moved Ruan Qingxia deeply. After helping settle the elderly couple, she found Shu Wenbo and asked what he had said the previous night. Shu Wenbo repeated everything, and Ruan Qingxia forgave him.

Suddenly, heavy rain began pouring over the disaster zone, causing a high-level barrier lake to form. The water level continued to rise and, if the dam broke, over a dozen villages and a road leading to the epicenter would be submerged. Water conservancy experts suggested controlled blasting to divert the water into Qipan River via Niutou Mountain—minimizing loss. Since Xinguan Village was in the flood release zone, rescue teams needed to evacuate to areas above 2,500 meters in Nanyang Town.

Upon receiving the news, Xing Kelei immediately notified Shao Yuhan, who was still performing surgery. If they evacuated immediately, the patient would certainly die. Shao Yuhan requested 90 minutes to finish the operation. Xing Kelei contacted the command center, asking to delay the flood release, but the water level was rising faster than expected. Thankfully, Shao Yuhan’s team completed the surgery and evacuated in time. Miners at Pingxiang Mine had been trapped for days.

Xing Kelei planned to inspect the situation, and Mi Ka requested to join him. Shao Yuhan approved and reminded Xing Kelei to take good care of Mi Ka. While they headed to the mine, Shao Yuhan returned to base camp, where Xing Keyao approached him to talk. But with another patient needing surgery, he left in a hurry.

Episode 16 Recap

That night, Xing Kelei and Mi Ka sat by the fire talking. Mi Ka looked downcast, saying she thought she had grown used to life and death at the hospital, but now realized she had overestimated herself. Xing Kelei comforted her, saying that getting used to it didn’t mean being numb, and it wasn’t her fault. Mi Ka then asked if Xing Kelei blamed them for not evacuating Xinguan Village in time.

He replied that he didn’t—everyone was trying to save more people, and he understood their choice. The two enjoyed the rare quiet moment together, sitting in each other’s company for a long time. In Linjia Village, a landslide raised concerns of aftershock-triggered secondary disasters. Shu Wenbo quickly alerted everyone to evacuate. At the evacuation site, due to a shortage of tents, they had to rest on open ground.

Ruan Qingxia didn’t stay in a tent either but sat with Shu Wenbo. She opened her laptop to review photos taken over the past few days for her report. Instead of choosing flattering shots of Shu Wenbo, she picked group images that showed the collective efforts of rescuers. Listening to her, Shu Wenbo realized his previous impressions of Ruan Qingxia had been too shallow. Now he saw that she was a truly professional journalist.

As they talked, Ruan Qingxia dozed off, leaning on Shu Wenbo. He was so nervous he didn’t dare move, letting her rest against him the entire night. The next morning, Lu Feng arrived by car with supplies, which the disaster victims of Fu’an Village desperately needed. Shu Wenbo requisitioned Lu Feng’s car, and Ruan Qingxia, wanting to document other villages, volunteered to go with him. On the way, they encountered a pregnant woman whose water had broken.

They panicked but had no choice but to deliver the baby in a makeshift tent. Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and both mother and child were safe. After bringing them to base camp, Shu Wenbo learned what happened. Hearing Lu Feng jokingly declare himself and Ruan Qingxia the godparents of the newborn, Shu Wenbo felt a bit jealous. Xing Kelei and Mi Ka arrived at the mine, where eight miners were trapped.

Team leader Liang Dong was thrilled to see them and quickly explained the situation. Xing Kelei immediately led the team down to dig through the collapsed section. After seven to eight hours of digging, they finally reached the trapped miners. Xing Kelei had been working nonstop and was relieved when they were rescued—until they found out one more miner, Team Leader Han, was still missing.

Xing Kelei quickly led a search and found Han deeper in the mine, but his condition was critical and required a doctor. Mi Ka grabbed her medical kit and rushed down. After treating Han’s wounds, she realized she had forgotten her emergency bag and went back to retrieve it. Xing Kelei told the others to go up first and stayed with Mi Ka—but just after Han and the others left, another aftershock struck.

The mine collapsed again, blocking their original path. Fortunately, Xing Kelei had seen the layout plans and knew of another exit. But as they moved forward, Xing Kelei suddenly collapsed from exhaustion. Mi Ka checked and found he had a fever. Meanwhile, Li Nian led a rescue team down through the ventilation shaft to find them. Xing Kelei led Mi Ka to the alternate exit, but it was also blocked. Just as he reached for the walkie-talkie, the mine above began to shift again.

Episode 17 Recap

Xing Kelei was pinned by falling rocks. Mi Ka tried everything but couldn’t move them. Xing Kelei told her not to waste energy and just sit with him for a while. With oxygen depleting in the mine, Mi Ka gave Xing Kelei an oxygen mask. After a few breaths, he handed it back to her. Struggling to breathe, he said he had something to tell her.

He had wanted to confess his feelings during their lavender field visit, even prepared notes, but now he could recite them from memory. He admitted he wasn’t perfect but said he wanted to become a fortress for Mi Ka, shielding her from all storms. If she liked him even just a little, he asked her to hang on and survive. After saying that, he lost consciousness.

Mi Ka quickly placed the oxygen mask on him and then tried CPR—but eventually, she too lost consciousness. Luckily, Li Nian’s team arrived in time and rescued both of them. They were safe. When Xing Kelei woke up, the first thing he did was ask about Mi Ka. Li Nian and the others teased him with silence, making him anxious, until Mi Ka walked in. Seeing her safe, he was relieved.

He shooed everyone out for some alone time, then confessed again. He said he heard her say she liked him while he was unconscious. Mi Ka agreed to date him. Thrilled, Xing Kelei took out the stuffed keychain Mi Ka had once given him and said they had now saved each other once, making things even. Mi Ka was shocked—realizing that the SWAT officer who saved her back then was Xing Kelei.

When she asked why he hadn’t told her earlier, Xing Kelei said he wanted her to truly like him, not just feel grateful. Mi Ka looked into his eyes and said she liked him for who he was. The two embraced tightly. The rescue team's work was nearly complete. Ruan Qingxia and the medical team were set to return, while Shu Wenbo and Lu Feng stayed behind for reconstruction.

Before leaving, Granny Zhang gave farewell gifts to Ruan Qingxia and Shu Wenbo, saying they made a good match. Lu Feng, standing nearby, was visibly displeased. After seeing Granny Zhang off, Lu Feng told Shu Wenbo he had seen Ruan Qingxia’s dedication and was now more determined to win her heart. He asked Shu Wenbo if he had any objections. Though clearly unhappy, Shu Wenbo said he had no right to judge and that it was up to Ruan Qingxia.

Before leaving, Ruan Qingxia asked Shu Wenbo to tell her something after he returned—there was something she wanted to say to him. Mi Ka returned to Jiangning City with the medical team. Once home, she finally had time to reflect on all the moments she had shared with Xing Kelei. Her heart was filled with sweetness and longing. Meanwhile, Xing Kelei was searching the mountain for a signal, just to confirm Mi Ka had arrived home safely.

Back at the hospital, Mi Ka resumed work, while Xing Kelei remained in the disaster zone for reconstruction. He was due back in Jiangning on Monday. Upon hearing this, Mi Ka became nervous and asked Ruan Qingxia if she should prepare something. Ruan Qingxia advised her not to be too eager and to let Xing Kelei take the initiative. Meanwhile, Lu Feng told Xing Kelei not to come on too strong and to start cool, then warm up later.

Neither had much dating experience, so they both followed their friends' advice. Though they wanted to see each other, they pretended otherwise—one claiming he had to return to the team, the other saying she had a night shift. Mi Ka wasn’t originally on duty, but because she believed Xing Kelei, she swapped shifts with Chen Xiaoyan.

Back at the hospital, Mi Ka received good news: Shao Yuhan had reported her outstanding performance in the earthquake relief efforts to the hospital leadership, and they decided to transfer her back to neurosurgery. While Mi Ka was on duty, Lu Feng took Xing Kelei shopping for ingredients. Xing Kelei said he no longer intended to follow Lu Feng’s advice—he planned to meet Mi Ka that night.

Episode 18 Recap

After Xing Kelei returned home, he found the place a mess thanks to Mi Ka, so he took the initiative to do the housework and tidy up. Just as he had almost finished cleaning, Chen Tao messaged him to say that Mi Ka was scheduled for a night shift today. Realizing he wouldn’t be able to see Mi Ka, Xing Kelei called Lu Feng over to cook dinner together.

Unexpectedly, Chen Xiaoyan returned to the hospital and told Mi Ka to go home and rest. Just as Lu Feng and Xing Kelei had set the food on the table, the wine Lu Feng had ordered arrived. Xing Kelei opened the door to sign for it and happened to see Mi Ka returning home. Understanding the situation, Lu Feng tactfully left. Xing Kelei then invited Mi Ka to eat with him.

The two of them were a bit reserved at the dinner table. Mi Ka asked when Xing Kelei recognized her and when he started liking her. Xing Kelei said he recognized her when she stopped the car, and that he liked her from their very first meeting. Mi Ka was a little shy.

Xing Kelei then said that he originally wanted to give Mi Ka a surprise, but seeing that she didn’t seem too disappointed when she thought he wasn’t coming back made him doubt it. Mi Ka looked at him and said she had spent the whole day telling everyone she couldn’t swap her shift—she did feel disappointed, but she understood the special nature of Xing Kelei’s job and didn’t dare get her hopes up.

Since it was a first relationship for both of them and they lacked experience, they agreed not to do any more surprises. Because Xing Kelei injured his hand, Captain Hao gave him time off, but Xing Kelei still went to the base to supervise the training. He wasn’t satisfied with the team's performance and said even while injured, he could outperform them. Li Nian felt provoked, and under Zhuo Wenjing’s encouragement, he made a bet with Xing Kelei.

In the end, Xing Kelei won, and Li Nian had no choice but to accept defeat and train harder on his own. With the SWAT competition approaching, Xing Kelei and Shu Wenbo were discussing candidates when Ruan Qingxia messaged Shu Wenbo asking to meet. Shu Wenbo refused. Ruan Qingxia, out for a run, got so angry upon seeing his message that she threw her phone aside.

Lu Feng saw it and guessed what was going on, advising her not to fixate on one person. He then said he wanted to pursue her. Ruan Qingxia rejected him on the spot. Lu Feng kept following her, insisting that he would start chasing her and that no one had ever rejected him—including her. Today was Mi Ka’s last day in the emergency department. She was very grateful to Director Wei, who had taught her a lot.

Director Wei also felt sentimental, recalling that on her first day in the emergency department, she encountered a boy who died of food poisoning. From that day on, she learned to control her emotions because emotions were the most useless thing in the ER. All they could do was their best. Lu Feng pulled Xing Kelei aside to talk about Ruan Qingxia and then asked about his progress with Mi Ka.

When he found out they hadn’t even held hands yet, he gave Xing Kelei advice: keep the bandage on his right hand and act weak in front of Mi Ka. Meanwhile, Ruan Qingxia also encouraged Mi Ka to dress up. Even though both Xing Kelei and Mi Ka claimed they wouldn’t listen to their friends, they ended up following the advice anyway.

Xing Kelei took Mi Ka to a horror movie, hoping to hold her when she got scared, but Mi Ka wasn’t afraid at all, ruining his plan and leaving him disappointed. After the movie, as they were walking, a passing electric scooter nearly hit them. Mi Ka instinctively tried to shield Xing Kelei, who also protected her in return. That’s when Mi Ka noticed his hand was healed.

Xing Kelei admitted he faked being injured to gain her sympathy, but Mi Ka wasn’t fooled. Amused, she laughed, and naturally, the two held hands. Shao Yuhan saw Xing Keyao by the roadside—her car had been hit, so he offered her a ride home. They chatted in the car. Xing Keyao asked why he suddenly returned from abroad. Shao Yuhan said he missed the place. Xing Keyao teased that maybe it was a sign he was getting old. During their conversation, Shao Yuhan suddenly said he owed Xing Keyao a formal apology.

Episode 19 Recap

Shao Yuhan said he had misunderstood Xing Keyao before, thinking she was just putting on a show under the guise of disaster relief, but later realized she had done a lot of real work. He thought that after seven years, both of them would have changed, but some things about Xing Keyao remained the same. After returning home, Xing Keyao ran into Xing Kelei and Mi Ka, who had planned to go jogging.

Mi Ka didn’t feel comfortable telling Xing Keyao about their relationship and wanted to wait until she was ready, so Xing Kelei went along with her decision. After their workout, the two had breakfast together. Mi Ka reminded Xing Kelei that it was her first day back in neurosurgery and she couldn’t be late. She urged him to hurry and eat so she could get to work.

Xing Kelei said he had to return to the police unit that night and wouldn’t be back until next week. Seeing Mi Ka show no sign of reluctance, he felt a bit disappointed. Back in the neurosurgery department, Xu Yanshan didn’t seem very happy. When it was time, Shao Yuhan led the team on rounds. Xu Yanshan performed well, and Shao Yuhan specifically instructed her to assign some patients to Mi Ka.

However, Xu Yanshan ignored this and instead ordered Mi Ka to assist her. Mi Ka wasn’t upset and obediently accepted the tasks. That evening, Xing Kelei came to pick up Mi Ka from work. Mi Ka said she wanted to treat him to dinner. Xing Kelei, feeling a bit jealous about her previous meal with Shao Yuhan, insisted they eat at the same restaurant and have the same dishes as before.

Mi Ka, amused, ordered the same brain dish and told Xing Kelei to either eat that or finish all the other dishes. Xing Kelei chose the latter and ended up overeating, so he had to go back and train more. The next day, the Panther Commando Unit arrived for training exchange. Captain Hao introduced their leader, Zhuang Zhiwen.

The Tiger Unit’s reputation in the province made Zhuang Zhiwen feel a bit competitive, but Captain Hao instructed Xing Kelei to take good care of them, so they held back their frustration. After the morning session, Xing Kelei quickly finished lunch and went to video call Mi Ka. Shu Wenbo noticed he had forgotten his office key and returned to bring it to him.

They arrived just in time to see Xing Kelei talking sweetly to Mi Ka, and couldn’t resist eavesdropping. However, they accidentally made a noise, and Mi Ka, embarrassed, ended the call. Xing Kelei, flustered and annoyed, chased them away. Xu Yanshan and Shao Yuhan were discussing a patient’s case when Mi Ka came by to report that her patients had completed their tests. She was about to leave when Shao Yuhan asked her to stay and join the discussion.

He also asked her to follow up on the surgery scheduled for the next day. This made Xu Yanshan unhappy. From the conversation, Shao Yuhan realized Xu Yanshan hadn’t distributed any patients to Mi Ka and once again instructed her to share the workload. Xu Yanshan still looked displeased. Just then, Chen Tao came to ask her to a music festival that evening. She casually agreed.

However, she forgot all about it later and voluntarily stayed behind after work to do ward rounds with Shao Yuhan and even have dinner with him. Chen Tao saw this and left feeling very disappointed. Xing Keyao went to the hospital to find Shao Yuhan and said that the Spide Institute wanted to set up a branch in China.

The Spide Institute is a neutral academic platform that promotes medical research and technology application, and also manufactures some equipment for sale. They were looking for corporate partners to establish a branch, and Xing Keyao hoped to win the partnership and collaborate with Renxin Hospital. Shao Yuhan expressed his support but said the decision belonged to the hospital director. He also noted that working with them would require significant funds to purchase their equipment, but he agreed to do his best to help.

Episode 20 Recap

When Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao were chatting, Mi Ka happened to pass by and greeted them. She asked if they wanted to eat some cake. Xing Keyao said she was fine with anything as long as it wasn’t cheesecake. After Mi Ka returned, a colleague happened to be distributing cheese biscuits. Yanshan offered to take some for Shao Yuhan, but the colleague said that Shao Yuhan didn’t eat cheese.

Mi Ka recalled what Xing Keyao had said and began gossiping in her mind about the relationship between Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao. Before she could think too much, a nurse came over and said a patient named Chen Feifei was causing a scene, so Mi Ka rushed over to check. Chen Feifei was a public figure and very concerned about her acting career and reputation.

She was arguing loudly with her manager, insisting she wasn’t ill and demanding that her manager call a car to take her away. Mi Ka reviewed Chen Feifei’s medical report and explained that her tumor was pressing on her nerves, which was causing the back pain. Mi Ka suggested quickly determining the nature of the tumor to decide on surgery. Chen Feifei refused to listen and tried to leave again.

Mi Ka told her that there were paparazzi outside, and if she went out now, it would be equivalent to publicly announcing her illness. She advised Chen Feifei to stay and calm down. Chen Feifei hesitated. Mi Ka continued to persuade her, warning that if she allowed the tumor to grow unchecked, the worst-case scenario could be paralysis. Nurse Xiaoxiao was very impressed by how Mi Ka managed to calm Chen Feifei with just a few words.

Yanshan took the opportunity to assign this troublesome patient to Mi Ka for future follow-ups, and Mi Ka kindly accepted. Director He heard about the situation and specifically sought out Mi Ka. She told her that she was friends with Chen Feifei’s teacher. Chen Feifei had trained in Yue opera, and He knew how hard Chen Feifei had worked to rise from playing minor roles to becoming famous.

The reason Chen Feifei didn’t want the surgery was because her acting had always been questioned, and she had hoped to use this role to prove her skills. That’s why she was resistant to surgery. Moreover, she had been actively supporting her teacher’s public performances to promote Yue opera. Some people may seem sharp on the outside, but they have soft hearts. Perhaps her sharpness was a form of self-protection. These words made Mi Ka fall into deep thought.

Zhuang Zhiwen requested permission from his superiors for the two teams to hold a simulated drill during the exchange with the Fierce Tiger Team, to see which team was more effective in actual combat. Xing Kelei was very confident and believed they wouldn't lose. Captain Hao agreed to the competition. The drill was a hostage rescue exercise, and the Fierce Tiger Team drew the rope descent assault method.

Captain Hao explained the rules: if the hostage was injured, the entire team would be disqualified. After an intense round of competition, the two teams were evenly matched. When it was unclear who the kidnapper was in the final moments, Xing Kelei made a quick and accurate judgment, successfully hitting the kidnapper and securing victory. Since being awed by Mi Ka last time, Chen Feifei had been cooperating with the treatment. One day, she was secretly photographed by paparazzi.

Mi Ka stepped in to protect her, warning the paparazzi that she would call the police if they didn’t delete the photos. She also called Xing Kelei, but he was confused about the call and tried to ask questions, only for Mi Ka to hang up before he could speak. She was busy taking Chen Feifei back and didn’t explain anything to him. Chen Feifei was still in a bad mood.

The role she wanted had been taken by someone else, and her tumor kept recurring. If it wasn’t benign, she would need repeated surgeries, and might even become paralyzed. Mi Ka patiently encouraged her not to lose hope. She told her the story of Xiaoman to lift her spirits. She also quoted something Shao Yuhan had told her during disaster relief to cheer her up. Shao Yuhan happened to overhear this at the door and felt comforted.

At home, Mi Ka chatted with Ruan Qingxia, who looked at her with a gossipy expression and asked if she had kissed Xing Kelei yet. When Mi Ka denied it, Ruan Qingxia kindly explained how to read Xing Kelei’s signals. While they were talking, Xing Kelei finished training and came to see Mi Ka. Since they only had about an hour to meet, they didn’t have time to go to a restaurant.

Mi Ka took Xing Kelei to a convenience store. While eating, she mentioned how embarrassed she was the first time she met him and asked what he liked about her. Xing Kelei answered without hesitation that he liked everything. As they were about to kiss, Xing Keyao suddenly appeared outside the window. The two quickly stopped. Xing Kelei told Xing Keyao about his relationship with Mi Ka.

She only told him to bring Mi Ka home next time for a proper introduction. As Xing Kelei was about to return to the police team, Mi Ka was reluctant to part, so they sat in the car together for a while longer.

Episode 21 Recap

Before returning to his team, Xing Kelei and Mi Ka sat together in the car again. Xing Kelei gave her a bouquet of flowers and nervously held her hand. Just then, the alarm he had set to remind him to leave went off. Mi Ka didn’t want him to go and kissed him on the cheek before getting out. But just as she was about to leave the car, Xing Kelei pulled her back and kissed her.

They kissed in the car for a while before Mi Ka shyly ran back home. The next day at work, Xiaoxiao told Mi Ka that Chen Feifei had gone to see Shao Yuhan and agreed to undergo surgery. Shao Yuhan said the surgery would be complicated and asked Mi Ka to assist. Feeling sympathetic toward Chen Feifei, Mi Ka wanted to remove as much of the tumor as possible without damaging any nerves.

Shao Yuhan reminded her to just do her best and not overthink. The surgery began soon after. Unfortunately, the tumor was malignant, which meant they couldn’t fully remove it. When Chen Feifei woke up and learned the result, she asked Shao Yuhan to pass a letter to Mi Ka. In the letter, Chen Feifei explained that she had decided to stop further treatment because she wanted to leave the world with dignity. Mi Ka was saddened but respected her decision.

Seeing that things were going well between Xing Kelei and Mi Ka, Lu Feng suggested that Xing Kelei take Mi Ka on a trip nearby so they could get to know each other better. Xing Kelei was tempted by the idea, especially since Mi Ka’s birthday was coming up. A trip sounded like a great idea. Lu Feng also suggested inviting Ruan Qingxia.

At the hospital, Mi Ka accidentally found out that Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao used to be in a relationship. Just as Xing Kelei invited her on the trip, Mi Ka thought of inviting both Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao along. While Xing Kelei was still debating whether to book a one-bedroom or two-bedroom suite, Mi Ka told him she had already booked a big house and told him not to book again.

Xing Kelei was puzzled as to why she needed such a big place. Mi Ka had just replied with a message to Director Shao when she was called away and didn’t get a chance to explain. This made Xing Kelei misunderstand, thinking Mi Ka was bringing Shao Yuhan on their trip. Lu Feng, seeing Xing Kelei upset, encouraged him to just ask Mi Ka directly. But Mi Ka hadn’t replied, so Xing Kelei thought she was mad.

When he went to pick her up from work to ask about it, Mi Ka had fallen asleep in his car from exhaustion. When Mi Ka woke up, she explained that she hadn’t checked her phone all afternoon. She looked at her phone and finally saw Xing Kelei’s message. Xing Kelei was a bit nervous, but to his surprise, Mi Ka wasn’t angry.

Instead, she admitted her fault for inviting Shao Yuhan without asking first and explained that it was for a special reason. She then told him about the past relationship between Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao. Xing Kelei was very surprised—he had known that Xing Keyao had dated someone, but didn’t realize it was Shao Yuhan. Mi Ka thought the two still had feelings for each other and wanted to play matchmaker.

She took responsibility for inviting Shao Yuhan and asked Xing Kelei to bring Xing Keyao. To avoid awkwardness, she planned to also invite Ruan Qingxia. Ruan Qingxia went to the police team and invited Shu Wenbo to join Mi Ka’s birthday trip. She told him that if he didn’t come, it would mean he was avoiding her, which would prove she was special to him. Shu Wenbo had no choice but to agree.

When the group arrived at the resort and Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan saw each other, they immediately guessed the group’s intention—to trick them into coming. After everyone settled in, Ruan Qingxia invited Shu Wenbo to go hiking. Mi Ka used the excuse of buying something to leave with Xing Kelei, giving Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao a chance to be alone.

Episode 22 Recap

When Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao saw that everyone else had gone out, they stayed behind to prepare the ingredients for the evening barbecue. As they worked, they chatted. Xing Keyao mentioned that after breaking up with Shao Yuhan, she even learned how to cook. She then volunteered to cook some noodles. While eating, they reminisced about the past, both feeling emotional. Xing Keyao subtly asked if Shao Yuhan had dated anyone over the past few years.

Shao Yuhan denied it. Xing Keyao then asked what he thought of Mi Ka. Shao Yuhan praised Mi Ka, saying she had an innate talent for being a doctor and that she reminded him of how Xing Keyao used to be. After climbing the mountain, Ruan Qingxia and Shu Wenbo prepared to head back. On the way down, Ruan Qingxia accidentally twisted her ankle.

She intended to pretend she couldn't walk so that Shu Wenbo would carry her back, but after checking her foot, Shu Wenbo said it wasn’t serious. This left Ruan Qingxia disappointed. She quickly claimed she couldn’t walk, but Shu Wenbo didn’t pick up on her hint. He left her there, saying he would go get the car and come back for her. After bringing Ruan Qingxia back, Shu Wenbo hurried to get ice to help with the swelling.

After dinner, Mi Ka suggested they play Truth or Dare and used the chance to ask about the relationship between Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan. After questioning them, Ruan Qingxia gave Mi Ka a signal, prompting her to ask Shu Wenbo if he liked Ruan Qingxia. Unexpectedly, Shu Wenbo chose Dare. Mi Ka asked him to call the fifth person on his recent calls list and reveal a secret. The fifth person turned out to be Lu Feng.

When Shu Wenbo put the call on speaker, before he could say anything, Lu Feng began talking about how he had tried to ask Ruan Qingxia out but failed, and said he was determined to pursue her. Xing Kelei tried to stop Lu Feng, but Lu Feng said even Shu Wenbo had no objection. Mi Ka quickly hung up the phone. Ruan Qingxia was very disappointed by what Lu Feng said and by Shu Wenbo’s silence.

Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Xing Keyao suggested Xing Kelei bring out the cake, only to hear that he forgot to prepare it. Mi Ka was disappointed but tried to act like it didn’t matter. That night, Mi Ka received a message from Xing Kelei inviting her out for a walk. She thought he had prepared a surprise for her, but nothing happened at first.

Just when Mi Ka thought Xing Kelei hadn’t prepared anything, he led her to an open area where he had set up a birthday surprise and gifts. Inside each crystal ball was a note with a message from Xing Kelei to Mi Ka. As she read each one, Mi Ka was deeply moved and turned to tightly hug Xing Kelei.

After Mi Ka and Xing Kelei left, Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan sat by the pool, watching the stars and chatting. They talked about the past. Suddenly, Xing Keyao said she somewhat regretted not becoming a doctor. Back then, she had to leave to take over the family business because her father was sick, but she had hoped Shao Yuhan would ask her to stay.

Shao Yuhan, however, couldn’t selfishly make her stay, knowing that taking over the family business was the right solution. As adults, they couldn’t act on impulse. When Xing Keyao saw Shao Yuhan wouldn’t ask her to stay, she left. In truth, both still had feelings for each other. Shao Yuhan even suggested they hang out with Yi Qian and the others once they got back.

Episode 23 Recap

Shu Wenbo took the initiative to check on Ruan Qingxia. Seeing she had an upset stomach, he made congee and brought it to her. Although Ruan Qingxia was still angry, she noticed Shu Wenbo still cared about her and was confused about whether he liked her or not. After the vacation, everyone returned to their normal work routine. Renxin Hospital was about to begin its staff evaluation.

Gossip circulated—some believed Xu Yanshan would definitely be selected, while others thought Shao Yuhan favored Mi Ka, especially since they had gone on a trip together, suggesting a closer relationship. Hearing these rumors, Xu Yanshan became worried and even lost focus during surgery. Shao Yuhan noticed she was distracted and unhesitatingly dismissed her from the operation. Afterward, he sternly reprimanded her and told her to focus on the surgery. Xu Yanshan had no choice but to agree.

At the police station, Ruan Qingxia was filming a training promo video, and Xing Kelei personally handled the filming. After shooting, he suddenly felt dizzy and had blurred vision. Captain Hao noticed something was wrong and grew concerned, but Xing Kelei thought it was just stress and didn’t take it seriously.

After filming, Ruan Qingxia wanted to ask Shu Wenbo out, but just as Shu Wenbo was about to make an excuse to decline, a sudden task came up, and Ruan Qingxia could only tell him to stay safe. An emergency occurred at Jinxiu Community—a gas threat incident with the potential to blow up the building. The police rushed to evacuate residents. Upon arrival, Xing Kelei learned it was a relationship dispute.

The perpetrator, Zhang Dayong, intended to ignite the gas tank and die with his girlfriend. Xing Kelei quickly assigned roles and instructed that no firearms were to be used. As the situation grew urgent, firefighters were called in. Shu Wenbo unlocked the door, while SWAT officers broke a window to distract Zhang Dayong. Firefighters then used high-pressure water to incapacitate him. The operation was a success—Zhang Dayong was apprehended, and the gas tank didn’t explode.

However, Xing Kelei was accidentally injured. Back at the hospital, Xu Yanshan returned to the office looking gloomy. Mi Ka noticed and tried to comfort her, but Xu Yanshan was ungrateful and implied that Shao Yuhan liked Mi Ka. She said Shao Yuhan had feelings for Mi Ka, and that she herself couldn’t win his favor. Mi Ka was speechless. At the hospital, Xing Kelei had seven stitches.

When Mi Ka got off work and saw him, she was very worried, but Xing Kelei assured her he was fine. Mi Ka dragged him to dinner and complained about her struggles with her thesis. Xing Kelei encouraged her. After returning to the station, Xing Kelei suddenly felt a headache again. Ruan Qingxia thought Shu Wenbo had gotten hurt and left a meeting halfway to check on him, but Shu Wenbo didn’t appreciate it and told her to go back.

He also refused to drive her. Feeling hurt, Ruan Qingxia decided to find a chance to clearly tell Shu Wenbo that her feelings for him were serious. Listening to Ruan Qingxia, Mi Ka recalled what Xu Yanshan had told her earlier and began to consider whether she should also speak honestly with Shao Yuhan. The next day at lunch, Mi Ka found an opportunity to talk.

Shao Yuhan guessed what she wanted to say and responded by saying that some people would naturally resent Mi Ka for achieving good results through her own efforts, and would imagine flaws in her to balance their own feelings. As for his situation with Xing Keyao, they would handle it themselves, and Mi Ka didn’t need to worry. He also reminded her to focus on her thesis.

Later that day, when Xu Yanshan tried to please Shao Yuhan again, he warned her not to let meaningless things affect herself or those around her. During training at the station, Xing Kelei again experienced tinnitus, dizziness, and a narrowing field of vision. He went to the hospital for a check-up. After a brief examination, the doctor suspected it might be related to his brain nerves and recommended a head CT scan from the neurology department.

Xing Kelei was concerned but didn’t tell Mi Ka to avoid worrying her. After the scan, the doctor reviewed the report and diagnosed him with a pituitary tumor. That day during surgery, Shao Yuhan specifically asked Xu Yanshan and Zhang Yang to switch seats so they could observe his technique. Xu Yanshan, trying to see more clearly, instinctively moved the microscope, which affected Shao Yuhan’s operation and left him displeased.

He switched to having Mi Ka observe instead and specifically warned her not to touch the microscope. After the surgery, Xu Yanshan felt very upset. When Zhang Yang later praised Mi Ka’s thesis, Xu Yanshan became even more jealous and frustrated. After a walk, she returned to find Mi Ka and Zhang Yang had gone out. With a malicious intent, she sat at Mi Ka’s desk and deleted the experimental data from her thesis.

During that time, He Xiaoxiao came in looking for Mi Ka. Seeing only Xu Yanshan there, she asked her to let Mi Ka know to go to Shao Yuhan’s office. When Mi Ka returned and discovered her data was gone, she was devastated.

Episode 24 Recap

The doctor advised Xing Kelei to undergo a craniotomy as soon as possible. Xing Kelei asked if there would be any sequelae. Knowing the special nature of Xing Kelei's profession, the doctor suggested he transfer to a desk job and avoid strenuous activity for at least six months after the surgery. As for sequelae, it would vary from person to person and couldn’t be determined for now.

After leaving the hospital, Xing Kelei called Mi Ka, but she was too busy reorganizing her thesis data to notice his call. Shao Yuhan heard that Mi Ka had lost her data and specially brought her some of his previous research data. Whether she could make the deadline depended on her. Meanwhile, Xing Kelei went home and searched online for possible complications after craniotomy.

He felt deeply troubled and feared he might not be able to return to SWAT duty after the operation. Xing Kelei waited at home all night, but Mi Ka didn’t return. He went to the hospital to pick her up. Mi Ka quickly explained that she was rushing to finish her thesis. After they got home, Xing Kelei pretended that a friend of his had a pituitary tumor and asked if he should undergo a craniotomy.

Mi Ka didn’t suspect anything and advised his "friend" to have the surgery as soon as possible. Ruan Qingxia went to the police station and directly asked Shu Wenbo to meet her at 8 p. m. , saying she had something to tell him. Shu Wenbo had no choice but to accept. He brought Ruan Qingxia a gift—a camera strap that matched her vintage camera.

Ruan Qingxia was delighted, but Shu Wenbo told her he only saw her as a friend. Hearing that, Ruan Qingxia was very disappointed and kept drinking. Shu Wenbo worriedly held her hand as she picked up the wine glass, but Ruan Qingxia said that if they were just good friends, he shouldn’t hold her hand. Shu Wenbo hesitated but let go, which hurt Ruan Qingxia even more. Drunk, Ruan Qingxia ran to Mi Ka’s house.

Seeing how upset she was, Mi Ka felt distressed and quickly let her in. Shu Wenbo wasn’t feeling great either—he went back to the police station and ran laps in the rain, leaving everyone confused about what was going on. The next morning, Ruan Qingxia still felt down after sobering up, but she comforted herself that time could heal everything. When Mi Ka arrived at the hospital, she learned the results of the evaluation were out.

As expected, Yanshan was selected. Mi Ka went to Shao Yuhan’s office to thank him—without his data, she wouldn’t have been able to submit her thesis on time. Shao Yuhan asked if she ever wondered why her data went missing. Mi Ka didn’t think much of it. At that moment, He Xiaoxiao came in and said there were files from Shao Yuhan at the nurses’ station. Shao Yuhan went out to get them.

As he reached the door, he overheard He Xiaoxiao telling Mi Ka to ask Yanshan about the data loss, saying she saw Yanshan at Mi Ka’s desk at the time. Mi Ka then confronted Yanshan, who initially denied it. But in a moment of anger, Yanshan voiced her long-standing dissatisfaction, accusing Mi Ka of using Shao Yuhan to get special treatment. Mi Ka was deeply disappointed by the baseless accusations. She firmly denied getting any favoritism and walked away.

Their conversation was overheard by Chen Tao. Yanshan didn’t know what to say when she saw the look in his eyes. Back in the office, Shao Yuhan also came to talk to Yanshan. She couldn’t lie to him and, feeling overwhelmed, broke down. She said everyone was questioning why she deleted Mi Ka’s data, but no one cared what she had been through.

Shao Yuhan said he didn’t respond to her feelings because he knew she had ulterior motives, whereas Mi Ka was pure and simply wanted to be a good doctor. Even now, Yanshan still didn’t understand what it meant to be a good doctor. She only cared about her reputation. In terms of academics and talent, she might surpass Mi Ka, but she lacked Mi Ka’s courage to risk everything to save lives. That was the difference.

To pursue Ruan Qingxia, Lu Feng kept creating chances to run into her. Ruan Qingxia made it clear she didn’t like him. But Lu Feng refused to give up, saying they were both single and could at least hang out as friends. Ruan Qingxia reluctantly agreed and went to see a movie with him. They even posted on their social media. Shu Wenbo was upset when he saw it and misunderstood that they were dating. While dining with Li Nian and Luo Ting, he sat sullenly and said nothing.

Episode 25 Recap

Shu Wenbo didn’t say a word during dinner, only drank in silence. Li Nian and Luo Ting felt awkward. Since Shu Wenbo wasn’t responding to them, they decided to leave for the movie. Just as they were about to go, Shu Wenbo passed out drunk at the table. The two had no choice but to skip the movie and carry him home.

Lying in bed, Shu Wenbo muttered in his drunken state that he actually liked Ruan Qingxia, but felt they had no future together, so he didn’t dare pursue her. Xing Kelei was still preoccupied with his tumor. After being reminded by Shu Wenbo, he remembered he had to do an interview with Ruan Qingxia today. Xing Kelei felt down and didn’t want to do it.

But Captain Hao told him he would have to get used to interviews in the future. During the interview, Ruan Qingxia asked why Xing Kelei chose such a dangerous career. Xing Kelei said someone had to take on that danger and hardship. Ruan Qingxia then asked if, given his busy frontline work, he would consider leaving it after settling down with a family.

Thinking of his illness, Xing Kelei realized he never thought about what else he could do if he weren’t a police officer. His face grew increasingly grim. Before the interview ended, he walked out. Captain Hao noticed his emotional state and told Shu Wenbo to keep an eye on him. Ruan Qingxia also decided to leave and deliberately gave Shu Wenbo the cold shoulder, not saying a word to him.

Director He found Shao Yuhan and said Yanshan had submitted her resignation letter to the hospital director and had just packed up and left. Shao Yuhan acknowledged it calmly and made no further comment, simply announcing it to everyone before heading off to do rounds. Some, unaware of the truth, assumed Mi Ka and Shao Yuhan had forced Yanshan to resign. Chen Tao couldn’t understand Yanshan’s decision—she was clearly outstanding, so why compete with Mi Ka?

It was pouring when Yanshan left. Chen Tao offered to take her, but Yanshan felt he was just pitying her. Director Zhang asked Shao Yuhan to attend a seminar in Hainan. He agreed but also asked Director Zhang to reconsider Yanshan’s resignation, saying she had great potential and he didn’t want the hospital to lose such a promising talent. Director Zhang agreed to talk to her again.

After taking on the seminar task, Shao Yuhan called Xing Keyao and canceled their weekend gathering. Xing Keyao had originally declined the seminar, but upon hearing that Shao Yuhan would attend, she decided to go too. At the seminar, Shao Yuhan saw a client pestering Xing Keyao and helped her out. She thanked him, and the two returned to the hotel.

They had a brief moment alone in the elevator, and just as Shao Yuhan was about to speak, the elevator reached Xing Keyao’s floor, so he had to stop. Ruan Qingxia’s car had a flat tire. Just when she didn’t know what to do, Li Nian and Shu Wenbo drove by. They got out and helped her change the tire. Li Nian tactfully left to give the two some space.

But Ruan Qingxia no longer clung to Shu Wenbo as before. After thanking him, she drove away alone. Yanshan’s mother, Zhang Yajun, came to Renxin Hospital for treatment. She didn’t know about Yanshan’s resignation. Mi Ka and Chen Tao kindly helped her keep it a secret. The test results came out—Zhang Yajun was diagnosed with an intracranial abscess.

Mi Ka recommended immediate surgery, but Zhang Yajun insisted on showing the report to Yanshan’s cousin abroad and kept looking down on Yanshan’s skills, refusing to have surgery in China. This angered Yanshan, who walked out. While wandering the hallway, Zhang Yajun noticed Yanshan’s name wasn’t on the duty roster and seized a chance to confront her. The two argued in the hospital room. Zhang Yajun lashed out, calling Yanshan a failure. Yanshan broke down.

Mi Ka saw this and began to understand why Yanshan so desperately needed validation. She told Xing Kelei about it. Xing Kelei wanted to use the opportunity to tell her about his illness but remembered what Lu Feng said about men carrying their burdens alone, so he kept it to himself. After arguing with her mother, Yanshan asked Chen Tao to bring her mother some fruit. While they were talking, an emergency case came in.

Without hesitation, Yanshan rushed to save the patient. Zhang Yajun witnessed her daughter fighting to save a life and was reminded of Yanshan’s father. Her attitude began to change, and she stopped being so harsh. The two reconciled. Zhang Yajun also decided to have her surgery at Renxin Hospital, with Mi Ka participating in the operation.

Episode 26 Recap

For Zhang Yajun’s surgery, Mi Ka carefully studied videos of surgeries for intracranial abscesses. She noticed there were new wounds on Xing Kelei’s hand and grew worried. She told Xing Kelei that he bore a lot of responsibility and reminded him not to get injured so easily anymore. She didn’t realize these words only added more pressure to Xing Kelei’s heart, making him even more reluctant to tell Mi Ka about his illness.

After leaving, Xing Kelei called Captain Hao, saying something was wrong with his body and that he might not be able to participate in the competition. He arranged to talk about it tomorrow afternoon. Zhang Yajun’s surgery started soon after. Before it began, Xing Kelei sent Mi Ka a message saying he had something to tell her at noon. Mi Ka replied that she had a surgery in the morning and wouldn’t be free until around two.

Mi Ka was the lead surgeon for Zhang Yajun’s operation, with Dr. Wang supervising. Meanwhile, the emergency department admitted a patient with severe brain hemorrhage from a car accident, and Dr. Wang had to rush over, instructing Jia Li to continue observing Mi Ka’s procedure and to report any issues immediately. Not long after Dr. Wang left, a complication arose during the operation. Fortunately, Mi Ka remained calm under pressure, stabilized the condition in time, and successfully completed the surgery.

Mi Ka went to find Xing Kelei right after the surgery. Xing Kelei confessed his illness to her. Mi Ka was momentarily unable to accept it and asked why he had waited until now to tell her. As his girlfriend, she wanted to share the burden and see the most authentic side of him. No matter how he was, she could accept it and was willing to stay by his side.

Xing Kelei hurried to reassure her, saying it wasn’t a serious illness. Mi Ka knew it wasn’t life-threatening, but the fact that Xing Kelei was sick made her anxious. Mi Ka accompanied Xing Kelei to see a specialist, who still recommended a craniotomy. Xing Kelei made up his mind to undergo the surgery next week.

After seeing the doctor, Xing Kelei went to talk to Captain Hao and told him he planned to transfer to logistics and could not participate in the competition anymore. However, Captain Hao didn’t agree right away. Instead, he arranged for Zhuo Wenjing to take over Xing Kelei’s spot in the shooting training. As for whether Xing Kelei could still participate in the competition, it would depend on his recovery after the surgery.

When the team members found out about Xing Kelei’s condition, they all wanted to accompany him during training. But Xing Kelei told them to rest, and they had no choice but to leave him alone to reflect. Xing Keyao, who was still attending a seminar in Hainan, hadn’t heard about Xing Kelei’s condition. That day, she was having breakfast with Yi Qian and Shao Yuhan.

When Shao Yuhan stepped away, Yi Qian asked Xing Keyao how she managed to win over Shao Yuhan. Xing Keyao found it funny and asked why it was assumed that she was the one pursuing him. Yi Qian said the whole school used to say that Xing Keyao chased Shao Yuhan all the way to the elevator. Xing Keyao recalled the past, explaining that she ran after him to the elevator back then to correct a surgical record.

Yi Qian originally planned to hang out with them both, but then Mi Ka called Xing Keyao to inform her about Xing Kelei’s illness. Xing Keyao immediately booked the next flight back to Jiangning. Once home, she scolded Xing Kelei angrily. Xing Kelei quickly tried to reassure her that it wasn’t a serious illness, but she was still furious that he hadn’t told her anything. Xu Yanshan also found out about Xing Kelei’s illness.

She sought out Mi Ka to comfort her and thanked her for what she did for her mother during the surgery. Xu Yanshan finally admitted her past mistakes and sincerely apologized to Mi Ka, who accepted her apology. That evening, Xing Kelei came to pick Mi Ka up from work. At home, Xing Keyao even cooked dinner, and they chatted as they ate.

Mi Ka suggested that Xing Kelei take two days off, and she would take leave as well to spend some time relaxing and shopping with him. Their special treatment of him made Xing Kelei a little nervous, and he urged them to just live normally and not do anything out of the ordinary for him. Though Xing Kelei appeared calm, Mi Ka felt he was forcing himself to be strong.

She was upset because she didn’t know what she could do for him. She was also worried that he might not be able to return to frontline duty after the craniotomy. She shared her concerns with Shao Yuhan, who said that although minimally invasive surgery was difficult, he believed he could try. After work, Mi Ka rushed to tell Xing Kelei the good news, explaining the pros and cons of minimally invasive versus open surgery, and let him decide.

Episode 27 Recap

Moved by Mi Ka’s words, Xing Kelei decided to trust her and chose the minimally invasive surgery. Xing Keyao went to find Shao Yuhan and expressed her worries. Shao Yuhan thought she didn’t trust him, but Xing Keyao quickly clarified that she was just worried about her brother and wasn’t questioning his abilities. Shao Yuhan said he was making this decision for Xing Kelei’s best interest.

He knew how much Xing Kelei cared about staying on the special forces team, which is why he was willing to perform the minimally invasive surgery to help him continue the job he loved. As the surgery date approached, Xing Kelei felt increasingly anxious. Mi Ka broke down in tears because of a casual joke he made. She said just the thought of Xing Kelei lying on the operating table terrified her.

No matter how skilled or tough Xing Kelei was, even as a sharpshooter, she couldn’t help but get nervous every time he went on a mission. She couldn’t control her fear. She wished she could support every decision he made, but she simply couldn’t stop herself from being afraid. Seeing how concerned Mi Ka was, Xing Kelei felt touched. He comforted her, reminding her that as a doctor, she should be rational.

After a few more reassuring words, Mi Ka calmed down. That night, she told Xing Kelei that in the future, she could also be his support and would face everything together with him. The next morning, Xing Keyao and Mi Ka accompanied Xing Kelei to the hospital. Shu Wenbo and the others also came to visit.

Shao Yuhan stopped by to have Mi Ka take Xing Kelei for some tests, reminding him not to eat or drink anything after 8 p. m. as the surgery would be tomorrow afternoon. That evening, Xing Kelei asked Mi Ka not to go into the operating room the next day. He didn’t want her to see him lying on the operating table. He also said he hoped the first person he saw upon waking up would be her.

Mi Ka agreed. When Xing Kelei was wheeled into the operating room, Mi Ka and Xing Keyao waited anxiously outside. Even though they both knew it was a minor surgery, they couldn’t help but worry. Time ticked by slowly, and after four hours had passed, both of them grew even more anxious. Meanwhile, the team at the police unit also awaited updates.

When the surgery finally ended, Mi Ka quickly changed clothes and rushed to the ICU to check on Xing Kelei. Remembering his request, she gently woke him up from the anesthesia. Mi Ka was on night duty, so she stayed at the hospital with Xing Kelei. Seeing the surgery go well, Xing Keyao finally relaxed. She also planned to stay at the hospital. Shao Yuhan invited her to wait in his office so she could get updates more easily.

Feeling a bit relieved, Xing Keyao couldn’t fight off her exhaustion and fell asleep in his office. Shao Yuhan didn’t wake her up. Instead, he draped a coat over her and quietly sat in a chair, reminiscing about their past. The next morning, Xing Kelei was transferred out of the ICU. Mi Ka went to the general ward to review his test results and was relieved to find everything looked good.

Xing Kelei kept saying he was hungry and wanted to eat watermelon. Mi Ka immediately ran to the fruit store and bought the biggest watermelon she could find, even feeding it to him herself. During Xing Kelei’s recovery, Shu Wenbo and the others, along with Mi Ka, all took turns making nutritious meals for him. One day, while Mi Ka was preparing soup, something came up and she had to leave.

She asked Ruan Qingxia to stay home and continue cooking, and also called Shu Wenbo over to help. Ruan Qingxia felt a little awkward when Shu Wenbo arrived but had to pretend nothing was wrong and tried to act normal.

Episode 28 Recap

Ruan Qingxia and Shu Wenbo took the soup to the hospital together. Both of them felt a little awkward watching Xing Kelei and Mi Ka being affectionate, so they quickly left. After leaving the hospital, Ruan Qingxia rushed off to work. Seeing that it was hard for her to get a taxi, Shu Wenbo offered to drive her.

When they arrived at the event venue, Shu Wenbo even picked up Ruan Qingxia to help her get a good angle for photos. Their relationship seemed to have eased somewhat. After reconciling with Zhang Yajun, Xu Yanshan chose the major she liked and went abroad to study pathology. Chen Tao made a special trip to see her off. She no longer treated him as coldly as before.

Chen Tao hoped they could video chat in the future, and Xu Yanshan responded positively for the first time, saying she would make time to stay in touch with him. Chen Tao was overjoyed. Xing Kelei’s test results came back. Shao Yuhan told Mi Ka that Xing Kelei could be discharged. However, Shao Yuhan didn’t recommend he return to the team immediately and suggested he recuperate at home for at least a month.

During this time, he could do some light rehab exercises but absolutely must not overdo it. He should return in two weeks for a follow-up. If he experiences symptoms like dizziness or nausea, he must come in for another check-up, and Mi Ka should supervise him closely. As Xing Kelei packed up to leave the hospital, Xing Keyao, using the excuse of thanking Shao Yuhan, went to his office.

Shao Yuhan was troubled by a difficult patient—a mother of two in very poor condition—so he had to ensure the surgery was a success. Xing Keyao offered him some comfort and agreed to stay with him for a while. That evening, Shao Yuhan performed the surgery. Although there were some risky moments, it was ultimately successful. After the surgery, Shao Yuhan went to find Xing Keyao, who had been waiting for him in the car.

Hearing she had a cold, Shao Yuhan made her some cold medicine. They returned to the office to have dinner together, and Shao Yuhan invited Xing Keyao to go out with him next week. She agreed. Ruan Qingxia arranged to learn taekwondo from Li Nian, but unexpectedly, Shu Wenbo showed up instead. It turned out Li Nian had tricked Shu Wenbo into coming to create an opportunity for them. Shu Wenbo asked Ruan Qingxia why she wanted to learn taekwondo.

Ruan Qingxia said she had been harassed by a pervert and wanted to learn some self-defense. She had originally planned to hire Li Nian, but since Shu Wenbo came, she didn’t hold back with him. During training, Ruan Qingxia accidentally kicked Shu Wenbo. Later, when Shu Wenbo was helping her stretch, Ruan Qingxia accidentally kissed him. Shu Wenbo quickly pulled away, both of them feeling awkward.

Ruan Qingxia pretended to be relaxed and said to treat it as a goodbye kiss between good friends, telling Shu Wenbo not to overthink it. After resting at home for a while, Xing Kelei decided to return to the police team for training. Without discussing it with Mi Ka, he packed his things, which made Mi Ka a bit upset. It hadn’t even been a month, and Xing Kelei was already planning to train.

Xing Kelei quickly said he knew his own body best. Mi Ka had no choice but to respect his decision, only asking him to let her know immediately if anything came up. After returning to the team, Xing Kelei started training but found himself unable to control his hand tremors. Feeling frustrated, he called Mi Ka that evening and told her about the issue.

Mi Ka suggested he come to the hospital the next day for an exam with Shao Yuhan. After reviewing the test results, Shao Yuhan said Xing Kelei’s body was fine and the surgery was successful. He recommended rehabilitation training to help his body gradually adjust, and they would continue to monitor his condition.

He recommended rehabilitation training to help his body gradually adjust, and they would continue to monitor his condition. \--------------------29--------------------- After seeing Xing Kelei off, Mi Ka returned to the hospital.

Nurse He Xiaoxiao informed her that the car accident patient Zhang Wei kept complaining of a headache. Mi Ka went to the ward to ask about it, explaining that the MRI showed no problems. She would prescribe painkillers but advised avoiding them if possible. Zhang Wei also said she couldn’t sleep at night and needed sleeping pills, and Mi Ka agreed to arrange that.

That night, Zhang Wei asked the nurse to give her the sleeping pills, but He Xiaoxiao said hospital rules required that patients be observed while taking medication. Xing Kelei resumed training after returning to the police team. However, Shu Wenbo was concerned about his condition and stopped him from continuing. He also said Mi Ka had asked him to look after Xing Kelei and told him to think about Mi Ka more.

During a sparring session with Zhuo Wenjing, Xing Kelei realized that Zhuo Wenjing wasn’t going all out on purpose. This hurt Xing Kelei’s pride. He questioned Zhuo Wenjing about it and made her run ten laps as punishment. Zhuo Wenjing, feeling guilty, complied. The more Xing Kelei trained, the more pressure he felt and the more frustrated he became.

After going home, he took it out on Mi Ka, thinking she had told the team about his hand tremor, which led the whole team to treat him differently. Mi Ka felt upset after being scolded by Xing Kelei. She confided in Ruan Qingxia, saying she hadn’t told Shu Wenbo about Xing Kelei’s condition. She then called Shu Wenbo to confirm it.

Mi Ka wanted to call Xing Kelei to explain, but he was in the restroom and didn’t see the call. When he came out and saw the missed call, he didn’t call back but simply sent Mi Ka a message saying “Good night.” After learning that Xing Kelei and Mi Ka had argued, Xing Keyao didn’t take her brother’s side. She said Mi Ka was just looking out for him, and asking Shu Wenbo to help wasn’t wrong.

She also urged Xing Kelei to apologize properly. Xing Kelei admitted he was at fault. Xing Keyao added that his hand tremor might be psychological. Xing Kelei didn’t understand, so Xing Keyao explained that he had always been used to being the best, and any small setback made him uncomfortable.

After Xing Kelei left, Mi Ka had wanted to find him to explain, but she received a message saying he had returned to the team, so she had to go to the hospital instead. While chatting with Shu Wenbo at the team, Xing Kelei learned that Shu Wenbo didn’t know about his hand tremor. He realized he had wrongly blamed Mi Ka the day before. Xing Kelei immediately took leave to go to the hospital to apologize to her.

Meanwhile, Mi Ka suddenly discovered that patient Zhang Wei was missing. Everyone started searching. Upon hearing the news, Xing Kelei joined the search without hesitation. After checking Zhang Wei’s ward, he deduced that she might have gone to the concert hall. Zhang Wei was a pianist, but the car accident had caused functional damage to her right hand, possibly ending her piano career. During the search, Xing Kelei apologized to Mi Ka, and she didn’t blame him.

They found Zhang Wei sitting on a high platform in the concert hall, appearing suicidal. To avoid alarming her, Xing Kelei had Mi Ka distract her and told He Xiaoxiao to call the police and firefighters. He then quietly snuck around from behind. Zhang Wei spoke of her past glory as Xing Kelei crept closer. As she was speaking, she slipped and fell, but Xing Kelei rushed forward and grabbed her just in time.

Luckily, the firefighters arrived and saved her. Xing Kelei shared his own experience with her, encouraging her not to give up so easily. After Zhang Wei left, Xing Kelei once again apologized to Mi Ka, and the two reconciled. Shu Wenbo found out that Ruan Qingxia’s old camera still hadn’t been repaired, so he searched everywhere for lens parts to fix it for her.

Meanwhile, Ruan Qingxia went to the police team to confront Li Nian for ditching their training and sending Shu Wenbo instead. Left with no choice, Li Nian admitted that Shu Wenbo really liked Ruan Qingxia but had rejected her because Lu Feng also liked her. Li Nian told her about how drunk Shu Wenbo got for her and said Shu Wenbo had eyes only for her. After returning home, Ruan Qingxia reflected on Li Nian’s words and everything Shu Wenbo had done for her.

Episode 30 Recap

Mi Ka believed that Xing Kelei’s hand tremor was linked to his psychological suggestion. In fact, there was nothing physically wrong with his hand. Xing Kelei thought that surgery might damage his hand, and because he was extremely competitive, the tremor was an unconscious reaction. Moreover, during the rescue at the concert hall yesterday, his hand strength was still solid, with no signs of shaking.

Mi Ka said the most important thing right now was for Xing Kelei to stop thinking about it and to relax properly. Shu Wenbo repaired Ruan Qingxia’s camera and asked her colleague Xiao Song to return it to her. He only told her that an experienced technician had fixed it, but he accidentally let it slip that he was the one who did it.

When Ruan Qingxia found out that Shu Wenbo had done all this for her without saying anything, she felt a bit unsettled. Then Lu Feng messaged her, saying he bought something for her and sent it to the bar, asking her to pick it up. When Ruan Qingxia arrived at the bar, Lu Feng confessed his feelings for her in front of everyone. Ruan Qingxia was embarrassed as other bar patrons began teasing. She still turned Lu Feng down.

Although she was grateful for everything he had done, the person in her heart was not him, so she couldn't accept his feelings. Ruan Qingxia lost her temper while practicing taekwondo with Shu Wenbo. She accused him of rejecting her yet telling Li Nian he liked her, and now trying to hand her over to Lu Feng—was he treating her like a ball, kicking her back and forth?

Shu Wenbo quickly explained that he only wanted her to be happy, but Ruan Qingxia said she hated him and stormed off. Xing Keyao was supposed to attend a performance with Shao Yuhan, but while waiting for him, a nearby skateboarder suddenly fell and passed out. Xing Keyao rushed over to stop the bleeding and told his friend to call an ambulance.

After the ambulance took the injured person away, she saw Shao Yuhan and apologized, saying they couldn’t see the show today. Shao Yuhan didn’t mind and kindly took her home. Xing Kelei wanted to move back into his own place to live with Mi Ka, using the excuse that he had bought equipment to train his hand strength.

However, Xing Keyao didn’t allow him to install it at her place, so he asked Mi Ka if it could be installed at his own home. Mi Ka agreed. When Mi Ka mentioned this to Ruan Qingxia, she immediately guessed Xing Kelei’s intention, saying he would find all sorts of excuses to appear in front of Mi Ka and that their relationship was about to enter a fiery stage.

Yi Qian and Xing Keyao planned to discuss the class reunion on Friday, but Shao Yuhan had a class that day and initially wanted to decline. Yi Qian insisted, saying Xing Keyao had postponed her weekend engagements to attend, so Shao Yuhan reluctantly agreed, though he said he would arrive late. Mi Ka overheard and grew a little curious. When she returned home, Xing Kelei quickly pretended he was diligently training.

Seeing he was sweating a lot, Mi Ka told him to take a shower. Xing Kelei seized the opportunity to pull out his clean clothes and said he would shower there. After dinner, Mi Ka relaxed on the sofa with her eyes closed while Xing Kelei tried to show off his muscles to catch her attention. Mi Ka acted indifferent, but once Xing Kelei looked away, she secretly peeked at him training.

Xing Kelei was a bit frustrated that Mi Ka wasn’t reacting. On Friday, Xing Keyao and the others waited for Shao Yuhan but he didn’t show up. Feeling a bit frustrated, Xing Keyao stepped outside the hotel lobby for some air and soon ran into Shao Yuhan. While the two were chatting outside, Yi Qian came out and urged them to go back in.

He also brought up preparations for the reunion and asked Shao Yuhan to find his old digital camera and edit together past photos and videos. Xing Keyao said she would help look for them too.

Episode 31 Recap

Xing Keyao told Shao Yuhan that she actually had the digital camera and suggested they go to her place to get it. Shao Yuhan hesitated but eventually agreed. As the two returned home, they ran into Xing Kelei and Mi Ka in the elevator. Seeing Shao Yuhan and Xing Keyao coming home together, Xing Kelei and Mi Ka both looked gossipy. After they all got home, Xing Keyao brought Shao Yuhan inside to get the camera.

Xing Kelei and Mi Ka joked at the door, thinking their relationship had progressed and Xing Kelei even joked he might start calling Shao Yuhan “brother-in-law.” Meanwhile, inside the room, unaware of their teasing, Shao Yuhan noticed a box in Xing Keyao’s room and found it filled with memories from their university days. When Xing Kelei saw that Shao Yuhan still hadn’t come out, he used that as an excuse to stay over at Mi Ka’s place.

After working hard for so long, he finally got his wish and moved back in with Mi Ka. Shu Wenbo and Xing Kelei were dining together when Shu Wenbo asked about Xing Kelei’s recovery and whether he could still participate in the combat competition. Influenced by Mi Ka, Xing Kelei was now in a much better mental state and no longer obsessed with winning. He optimistically said if he couldn’t join this year, he would join next year.

Shu Wenbo then asked about his plans with Mi Ka and whether he had considered becoming a police instructor. Xing Kelei said he still wanted to be on the front line. Shu Wenbo pointed out that if Xing Kelei was on the front line and Mi Ka was a doctor, they wouldn’t be seeing each other so often if it weren’t for his current recovery period.

Xing Kelei said he couldn’t think that far ahead right now and would just see how things go. As they were talking, Lu Feng suddenly showed up and started yelling at Shu Wenbo, asking whether he liked Ruan Qingxia. If not, he shouldn’t keep entangling with her. The confrontation escalated into a fight. In a moment of emotion, Shu Wenbo admitted he liked Ruan Qingxia. Xing Kelei quickly stepped in to break them up.

After calming down, Lu Feng told them that Ruan Qingxia had rejected him and said that if Shu Wenbo really liked her, he should just tell her openly. On the way back, Xing Kelei suggested that Shu Wenbo check Ruan Qingxia’s Weibo to see what she liked. He also said Shu Wenbo could ask him or Mi Ka if he had questions.

After following Xing Kelei’s advice, Shu Wenbo found something Ruan Qingxia was recently interested in, but he didn’t understand it, so he called Mi Ka to ask. Mi Ka explained it to him in detail. After hanging up, she grew curious about what was going on with Shu Wenbo, so Xing Kelei told her about Lu Feng’s situation. After returning home, a pair of sisters suddenly stopped Xing Kelei.

They were the daughters of Captain Shen, one of Xing Kelei’s benefactors. Since Captain Shen passed away, the sisters’ lives hadn’t been going well. The older sister, Shen Jianing, had been in a car accident and was still in a wheelchair due to a spinal injury. Shen Jianan explained their situation and asked if they could stay at Xing Kelei’s place to save money. Xing Kelei’s expression changed, and he said he would book them a hotel near the hospital.

Shen Jianan still wanted to insist, but Shen Jianing noticed Xing Kelei’s unhappy expression and told her sister to go along with his arrangements. Meanwhile, Mi Ka, who was in the kitchen, was already full of jealousy and didn’t want to talk to Xing Kelei. After dinner, Xing Kelei took Shen Jianing and Shen Jianan to the hotel. The two sisters weren’t as simple and kind as they seemed.

They had lost all their money in business and wanted Xing Kelei to spend money to heal Shen Jianing’s legs out of past sentiment. Now that they realized Xing Kelei had Mi Ka, Shen Jianing planned to ruin their relationship. She deliberately asked Xing Kelei to buy medicine for her, making him return late, hoping to build up conflict between him and Mi Ka. After buying the medicine, Shen Jianan asked Xing Kelei to stay and keep Shen Jianing company.

Before Xing Kelei returned, Mi Ka received a call from Ruan Qingxia. After learning about the Shen sisters, Ruan Qingxia advised Mi Ka to be cautious and said Shen Jianing was definitely up to something.

Episode 32 Recap

After Ruan Qingxia finished talking about Xing Kelei, she remembered she had originally wanted to tell Mi Ka about being harassed by a pervert. But after chatting with Mi Ka for a bit, her mood improved significantly.

Mi Ka took the opportunity to ask about how to buy the toy Ruan Qingxia liked and passed the information on to Shu Wenbo, mentioning that Ruan Qingxia hadn’t been in a good mood lately and would probably be happy if she received a gift from him. When Xing Kelei came home, Mi Ka was already asleep. But Xing Kelei was worried that she was pretending to sleep out of anger.

Not wanting to sit and wait, he began rummaging through the study for something. The next morning, Xing Kelei carefully prepared breakfast while waiting for Mi Ka to wake up. When Mi Ka saw him, she mimicked Shen Jianing and called him “Brother Kelei,” startling Xing Kelei. He quickly pulled her down to sit and explained his relationship with the Shen family, saying that he and the Shen sisters were just friends.

However, Shen Jianing seemed to have liked him a little before. Hearing that, Mi Ka’s expression changed and she turned to leave. Xing Kelei quickly chased after her, only to find Mi Ka secretly laughing in her room. She tried to hold back her laughter while pretending to be angry. Xing Kelei pleaded with her from outside the door.

Mi Ka couldn’t hold it in anymore, opened the door, kissed Xing Kelei, and asked if he was stupid, saying he couldn’t even tell whether she was really angry or just pretending. Xing Kelei was a bit confused, but felt relieved seeing that Mi Ka wasn’t actually upset. They went to the hospital together to help Shen Jianing register for her check-up.

Shen Jianan deliberately made things difficult for Mi Ka, asking her to get a specialist appointment and to arrange a private room. While Mi Ka was feeling awkward, Xing Kelei took her hand and said Mi Ka was his girlfriend and they would help however they could. But as a doctor, Mi Ka couldn’t break hospital rules.

Shen Jianing saw Xing Kelei holding Mi Ka’s hand and felt extremely jealous, but outwardly still thanked Xing Kelei and told Shen Jianan not to trouble Mi Ka anymore. Xing Kelei accompanied Shen Jianing for the check-up, while Mi Ka handed the report to Shao Yuhan. Shao Yuhan suggested another surgery, saying there was a good chance Shen Jianing could walk again afterward.

Mi Ka then told He Xiaoxiao to arrange a private room for Shen Jianing if one became available. After Shen Jianing was admitted, Shen Jianan dragged Mi Ka to fetch hot water, intentionally bringing up childhood stories between Shen Jianing and Xing Kelei to hint that Shen Jianing was Xing Kelei’s first love, hoping to make Mi Ka jealous.

Meanwhile, Shen Jianing pretended to have a headache in front of Mi Ka and clung to Xing Kelei, also trying to provoke jealousy. Neither of their schemes worked, prompting Shen Jianan to consider changing tactics.

Episode 33 Recap

He Xiaoxiao told Mi Ka that Xing Kelei had come by, and after his visit, all the rumors in the hospital had vanished. Mi Ka guessed Xing Kelei had done something and felt very happy. At her company, Ruan Qingxia received a toy sent by the pervert. Disgusted, she immediately threw the package away. Her colleagues advised her to go home early and stop posting on Weibo for a while, but Ruan Qingxia refused to be manipulated.

Shu Wenbo had also gone to great lengths to buy the same toy for Ruan Qingxia, but was too shy to give it to her in person, so he had it delivered to her home. After getting the delivery confirmation, he waited downstairs to see her reaction. Unexpectedly, Ruan Qingxia mistook it for another package from the pervert and threw it away, leaving the hidden Shu Wenbo heartbroken.

Before her surgery, Shen Jianing suddenly began resisting, refusing to let nurses take her temperature. She only came out from under the covers when Xing Kelei arrived, pitifully telling him that Shen Jianan had gone missing. Mi Ka suggested they talk privately. Shen Jianing pretended to be worried about her sister, while Xing Kelei patiently comforted her and urged her to finish the check-up first, which she finally agreed to. Afterward, Xing Kelei apologized to Mi Ka out of guilt.

Mi Ka wasn’t upset and even offered to stay the night and help him take care of Shen Jianing. In truth, Shen Jianing had deliberately sent Shen Jianan away to keep Xing Kelei around. She told Shen Jianan to reply to any messages from Xing Kelei by saying she was too stressed and had to leave, and to mention “Team Leader Xing” as a reason to persuade him to stay and take care of her.

Shen Jianing’s surgery was a success, but whether she could walk again depended on her recovery—and most importantly, her belief in herself. After waking up, Shen Jianing caused a scene at the hospital. She wouldn’t eat or drink or cooperate with the nurses unless Xing Kelei was present. Xing Kelei had no choice but to accompany her, exhausted to the point where he leaned on Mi Ka during breaks just to rest and chat for a bit.

Because of the ongoing harassment, Ruan Qingxia went to hide at Mi Ka’s home. The two chatted again about the Shen sisters. Mi Ka complained a bit about them, but since Xing Kelei had returned to the police force to prepare for a competition, she couldn’t ignore Shen Jianing either. After chatting and making soup together, Xing Kelei came home. Ruan Qingxia greeted him and then left.

The next morning, Xing Kelei returned to the police force to begin training with the Tiger Assault Team. During her rounds, Mi Ka informed Shen Jianing and advised her to start walking soon to regain mobility. But Shen Jianing said she would wait until Xing Kelei came back to help her walk. Knowing that Xing Kelei was gone, Shen Jianing stopped acting out and fully cooperated with the nurses.

The nurses all knew it was because Xing Kelei wasn’t around—Shen Jianing had no audience for her drama. That day, Shen Jianan returned and subtly hinted to Mi Ka that no one was looking after Shen Jianing. Shu Wenbo found out Ruan Qingxia had been followed and worried the pervert might show up near her home. That night, he went over to check and happened to catch the pervert harassing Ruan Qingxia.

As she backed away in panic, her high heel got stuck in a storm drain. Just as the pervert was about to approach her, Shu Wenbo appeared in time and rescued her. After giving their statements at the police station, Ruan Qingxia invited Shu Wenbo to dinner to thank him. She also mentioned the toy the pervert had sent. Shu Wenbo revealed that the one delivered to her home was from him. Ruan Qingxia was both shocked and regretful.

After walking a few steps, she suddenly turned around and asked Shu Wenbo if he liked her. Shu Wenbo finally admitted it, explaining that he had always felt unworthy of her and believed she was better suited for Lu Feng. But now he had the courage to confess his feelings and asked Ruan Qingxia if she would be his girlfriend. Ruan Qingxia looked at Shu Wenbo in surprise and happily accepted his confession.

Episode 34 Recap

Shao Yuhan approached Mi Ka and told her that the research institute that had previously treated Xiaoman was now recruiting interns. He thought Mi Ka was a perfect fit and gave her the information, suggesting she consider it. Mi Ka was overjoyed—this had always been her dream during her school years, so she naturally had no reason to refuse.

Their conversation was seen by Shen Jianan, who went back and told Shen Jianing that Mi Ka and Shao Yuhan were speaking very intimately. The two even believed that Mi Ka was deliberately preventing Xing Kelei from visiting Shen Jianing at the hospital. Not long after, rumors began circulating in the hospital again—this time about a supposed affair between Mi Ka and Shao Yuhan, claiming their relationship was unusual.

It wasn’t until He Xiaoxiao reminded Mi Ka that she realized what was going on. The rumors spread throughout the entire hospital, even reaching Chen Tao. Shao Yuhan asked Mi Ka what she planned to do about it. Mi Ka wanted to clear the air but hadn't yet figured out what to say. Suddenly, an idea came to her: if Shao Yuhan had a real girlfriend and brought her to the hospital, wouldn’t that put the rumors to rest?

However, Shao Yuhan didn’t respond to the suggestion. That afternoon, Shao Yuhan did end up having Xing Keyao come to the hospital. When she arrived and learned about the rumors, she visited the Shen sisters in their ward. The moment the Shen sisters saw Xing Keyao, they acted like mice seeing a cat, immediately behaving obediently in her presence.

Xing Keyao gave them a brief talking-to, telling Shen Jianing to focus on recovering and not to dwell on things she shouldn't. The SWAT competition began. By the end of the events, the three teams were neck and neck. Only the afternoon group event and Xing Kelei’s individual match remained. In the individual match, Xing Kelei's hand trembled again, and he lost the individual shooting event to Zhuang Zhiwen.

After the competition, the leader announced the results: the Black Panther Assault Team won first place in the group event, but Xing Kelei missed out on the individual shooting title. Still, he wasn’t discouraged and agreed with Zhuang Zhiwen to compete again next year. Xing Kelei originally wanted to call Mi Ka, but Xing Keyao called first.

She told him about how the Shen sisters were stirring up trouble in the hospital, picking on Mi Ka, and even spreading rumors about her and Shao Yuhan, which made Xing Keyao furious. She asked Xing Kelei what he planned to do. Unable to speak harshly to the daughters of Captain Shen, Xing Kelei could only ask Xing Keyao to handle it. Shen Jianan caused a commotion at the hospital.

Pushed to her limit, Mi Ka stopped tolerating the Shen sisters and told He Xiaoxiao to call security to escort Shen Jianan out. Mi Ka warned her, saying she didn’t look for trouble but wasn’t afraid of it either—if Shen Jianan bullied people again or spread more rumors, she would call the police. Shortly after Mi Ka left, the security staff arrived.

During the scuffle, Xing Kelei and Xing Keyao also arrived at the hospital and saw Shen Jianan about to be taken away. Shen Jianing still tried to defend herself, but a patient nearby spoke up for Mi Ka. Xing Kelei was deeply disappointed in the Shen sisters and left without wanting to deal with them anymore.

Xing Keyao stayed behind to clean up the mess and warned the sisters that even if Mi Ka were not in Xing Kelei’s life, Shen Jianing would never be his girlfriend. She informed them she had already arranged for Shen Jianing’s follow-up rehabilitation and had found a job for Shen Jianan. She and Xing Kelei would repay Captain Shen’s kindness, but the sisters must stop testing their bottom line.

After resolving the situation with the Shen sisters, Xing Kelei wanted to have dinner with Mi Ka. But during the meal, Ruan Qingxia called Mi Ka in a rather agitated tone. Mi Ka guessed it had something to do with Shu Wenbo and rushed home to comfort her. When Xing Kelei found out it was about Shu Wenbo, he said he’d meet Shu Wenbo the next day to give him a proper lesson on how to be in a relationship.

Shu Wenbo recounted the details of his date with Ruan Qingxia the previous night, which left both Mi Ka and Xing Kelei with headaches. Neither had ever seen someone so clueless about love. While they were talking, Xing Kelei noticed it was raining and told Shu Wenbo to buy an umbrella and pick up Ruan Qingxia after work. Shu Wenbo foolishly bought two umbrellas, prompting a frustrated Xing Kelei to take one away before letting him leave.

But Shu Wenbo only held the umbrella for Ruan Qingxia while walking in the rain himself, which made her angry again. When Ruan Qingxia went to the restroom, Xing Kelei took the opportunity to give Shu Wenbo a few more tips, telling him to be more proactive with her.

Episode 35 Recap

Xing Kelei and Mi Ka rarely had time off together, so he suggested they take a trip. Mi Ka proposed going to the beach the day after tomorrow, and Xing Kelei agreed. The next day, while Mi Ka went to work, Xing Kelei stayed home cleaning and packing in preparation. In the middle of it, he received a call from Captain Hao and returned to the base. Captain Hao gave Xing Kelei a file on Wu Keming, a key suspect.

Intelligence indicated Wu Keming had returned to Lucheng and might be carrying heavy weapons. The police needed support from the Fierce Tiger Unit. Xing Kelei didn’t dare take it lightly, grabbed the file, and got ready to move. He messaged Mi Ka saying he had a mission that night and wouldn’t be coming home, but Mi Ka was busy and didn’t see the message. Jia Li asked Mi Ka to deliver a medical record to Shao Yuhan.

Shao Yuhan told her that a patient's family member had collapsed in the emergency area. After some inquiry, they found out this person had just returned from the Middle East and was suspected to have MERS. The disease control center had already been notified, and the ER was temporarily sealed off. As a result, Mi Ka had to stay in the ER and assist Shao Yuhan in operating on the patient.

Xing Kelei met with Captain Xu from the criminal investigation team. Captain Xu briefed Xing Kelei and his team on Wu Keming’s situation. Xu’s residence was across the street from Wu Keming’s parents’ old house. Wu’s parents had long since passed away, and the house was now rented by a woman named Xiang Lulu and her child. Xiang Lulu ran a Taobao shop, and her child was nearly six years old.

They had also investigated Xiang Lulu’s background and found no known connection to Wu Keming. After analyzing the situation, Xing Kelei decided to start by investigating Wu Keming’s subordinate, Hei San. They located Hei San and successfully apprehended him for interrogation. Hei San revealed what he knew and mentioned he had vaguely heard Wu Keming say he would leave on the 20th.

Xing Kelei and Captain Xu immediately ordered a check on any major events scheduled in the city on that date. Xing Kelei also discovered issues with Xiang Lulu’s Taobao shop—it wasn’t making any money. This led him and his team to suspect that Xiang Lulu might actually know Wu Keming and that the child could be his. Xing Kelei sent Shu Wenbo in disguised as a repairman to plant a micro camera inside Xiang Lulu’s home.

Just as Shu Wenbo was leaving, Wu Keming’s sister arrived. She had been about to use a key to enter but hid it when she saw Shu Wenbo. She even pressed Xiang Lulu for rent in front of him, which raised Xing Kelei’s suspicions further. After finishing the surgery with Shao Yuhan, Mi Ka stayed in the ward to care for the patient.

She still hadn’t checked her phone, so she borrowed Shao Yuhan’s to call Xing Kelei, but his phone was off. Mi Ka started to worry. She worked the night shift in the quarantine room, and just when her shift was about to end, she began showing symptoms—cough and fever. She quickly held the quarantine room door shut to prevent Chen Tao and Shao Yuhan from entering and asked Shao Yuhan if he thought the patient’s condition required distancing.

Shao Yuhan’s expression turned serious and told Chen Tao to get protective gear immediately. Mi Ka continued her isolation in the quarantine room. Wei Lan asked if she needed anything, and Mi Ka quickly asked for her phone. Soon after, Chen Tao brought it to her. Mi Ka opened it and saw that apart from the one message from Xing Kelei saying he wouldn’t be back, there was nothing else. She wanted to tell him she had a fever and was quarantined but hesitated. In the end, she didn’t send the message—she only told Ruan Qingxia she was in quarantine.

Episode 36 Recap

Mi Ka had a persistent high fever. She was actually very afraid of being infected, but in front of her colleagues, she had to pretend to be strong. She picked up her phone again to check and saw that Xing Kelei still hadn’t replied, which made her feel even more anxious. Just as she was quietly crying, Ruan Qingxia called her.

Ruan had only just seen Mi Ka’s message, expressed concern for her, and was a little displeased that Xing Kelei wasn’t around. She said she would visit Mi Ka at the hospital once she finished her tasks. Mi Ka still couldn't reach Xing Kelei and began to worry that this mission might be dangerous. She recalled how Xing Kelei had often left suddenly due to missions in the past.

On the 20th, Xiang Lulu went out with her son, and Xing Kelei led his team to follow her. They discovered that she took her child to Jiangning and, coincidentally, went to Renxin Hospital. Xing Kelei knew that her son had Kawasaki disease and figured the hospital visit was for a follow-up. The hospital was crowded, making it hard for the police to control the scene, and Wu Keming was highly likely to show up to see his son.

The police lay in ambush, watching Xiang Lulu closely, but Wu Keming never appeared. Everyone had to wait patiently. Captain Xu received a message that Wu Keming’s car was spotted five kilometers from the hospital, but there were no clues inside. Zhuo Wenjing, returning from the hospital, told Xing Kelei that the emergency room had been locked down and asked if Mi Ka was okay.

Just as Xing Kelei was growing worried, he received news that Xiang Lulu had taken her son to the lawn behind the hospital. Without hesitation, he rushed there with his team and kept a close watch. Not long after, a food delivery guy suddenly approached Xiang Lulu. Realizing something was wrong, Xing Kelei quickly surrounded them with his team. Wu Keming, sensing danger, turned and tried to escape, taking a nurse hostage along the way.

Xing Kelei kept persuading him to think about his family and child. Xiang Lulu also looked at Wu Keming with pleading eyes. Wu Keming hesitated for a moment, then lowered his gun and surrendered. Meanwhile, Mi Ka’s fever subsided, and she was released from isolation. Ruan Qingxia came to the hospital to take her home. Mi Ka had just gone to bed when Xing Kelei returned.

Ruan Qingxia, seeing him back, scolded him a bit for not knowing Mi Ka had a fever and was isolated. She then told him to take good care of Mi Ka before leaving. Xing Kelei went upstairs to check on Mi Ka, feeling incredibly guilty. Xing Kelei was tossing and turning in the study when he suddenly heard a noise. He got up and found that Mi Ka had woken up.

He hugged her and apologized, asking if she had been scared during the isolation. Mi Ka admitted she was scared the first day but was more worried later about whether Xing Kelei would get hurt during the mission. Xing Kelei felt even more guilty. Mi Ka had once asked him to show his vulnerable side to her, and now Xing Kelei asked Mi Ka not to pretend to be strong in front of him anymore.

After a night of rest, Mi Ka still went to work at the hospital the next day. Knowing that Mi Ka would have a day off tomorrow, Xing Kelei said the two of them should spend the whole day together. After his time off, Shu Wenbo went to find Ruan Qingxia, and the two of them went to the mountain to enjoy the scenery.

As Ruan leaned on Shu’s shoulder, she suddenly said she wished she could marry him right away. Shu seemed not to hear clearly and asked her to repeat it, but Ruan shook her head. The next day, just as Xing Kelei took Mi Ka to the seaside, Captain Hao suddenly called him for a mission, and Xing Kelei had to turn back. Although Mi Ka understood, she still felt upset.

To comfort her, Ruan Qingxia brought a bunch of things to Mi Ka’s place to make hotpot. Mi Ka suddenly realized the reality of their situation—their professions were special, emergencies were frequent, and even under the same roof, they barely had time to see each other. Ruan Qingxia told her not to overthink it—less worry, more happiness. Mi Ka stopped dwelling on it.

While Mi Ka was working, Shao Yuhan told her that Allen Medical Center had approved her preliminary test and that a video interview would follow soon. Mi Ka was hesitant because of Xing Kelei. Shao Yuhan understood but said this was an important step in her career development and advised her to think carefully and not make a hasty decision. Shu Wenbo planned to propose to Ruan Qingxia and dragged Xing Kelei to a jewelry store to pick a ring.

The two of them didn’t know how to choose, so Shu suggested Xing Kelei send pictures to Mi Ka for her opinion. Mi Ka thought Xing Kelei was going to propose to her and felt a bit disappointed after realizing it was a misunderstanding. Soon after, Shu chose a ring, and Xing Kelei also bought a necklace as a gift for them.

Episode 37 Recap

Xing Kelei cooked soup and waited for Mi Ka to come home, but she had to cover a night shift. Remembering what Shu Wenbo said, he took the soup to Xing Keyao. Seeing him show up suddenly, Xing Keyao guessed Mi Ka must be on duty at the hospital or that they had a fight. Xing Kelei sighed, saying they hadn’t even had time alone recently, let alone to argue.

Xing Keyao said it was a good thing Mi Ka had been transferred back to the emergency department; otherwise, she’d be even busier. She mentioned that doctors at Allen Medical Center were insanely busy, with only one day off a week. But those who came from there were highly sought after by hospitals in China. After listening, Xing Kelei sighed and then brought up the idea of proposing to Mi Ka.

Xing Keyao was overjoyed and told him not to worry—the family had no objections. Their parents didn’t care who he married, as long as he got married. Since she was heading to Hong Kong in a few days and knew Mi Ka’s ring size, she offered to help Xing Kelei buy a proposal ring. Mi Ka hadn’t seen Xing Kelei for several days and still hadn’t had the chance to tell him about going abroad to Allen Medical Center.

The longer she delayed, the more nervous she became. That day, she went home with Ruan Qingxia, who already knew about Mi Ka going abroad and was worried that Mi Ka and Xing Kelei might not have a good conversation that night. She comforted Mi Ka a bit and then went to find Shu Wenbo. At the police station, while playing games, Shu suddenly pulled out a ring, knelt on one knee, and proposed to Ruan Qingxia.

He gave a heartfelt confession, saying he had liked her for a long time and thanked her for teaching him how to love and how to appreciate love. Ruan Qingxia accepted the proposal without hesitation. Across the way, Shao Yuhan went to Xing Keyao’s place and asked her to go house hunting with him on Saturday. He said he hoped she would live with him in the new home. Xing Keyao was at a loss for words.

Shao Yuhan then confessed his feelings, saying that their separation seven years ago was due to circumstances, and now that they had reunited, he didn’t want to lose her again. If he could go back, he would have asked her to stay loudly back then. Xing Keyao’s eyes reddened, and they embraced tightly. However, just after reconciling, they argued. Xing Keyao found out that Shao Yuhan had recommended Mi Ka for the residency at Allen Medical Center.

She felt he hadn’t considered her or Xing Kelei and worried that Mi Ka and Xing Kelei would be forced to separate just like they had been back then. Xing Kelei returned just in time to hear their argument. Originally happy and ready to propose to Mi Ka, his mood immediately changed. At home, Mi Ka still hadn’t seen Xing Kelei. She went to his room and saw the ring Xing Keyao had helped him buy.

She thought it was the one Shu Wenbo got for Ruan Qingxia. Just then, Ruan video-called to share her joy about being proposed to. Seeing the ring on Ruan’s finger, Mi Ka suddenly realized that the ring on the table was actually for her. Her feelings were complicated—on one hand, she was happy about Xing Kelei’s upcoming proposal; on the other hand, she was anxious about telling him she was going abroad.

Mi Ka wanted to go out and find Xing Kelei but hesitated. Xing Kelei had intended to return home after hearing Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan’s conversation, but when he got to the door, he didn’t know how to face Mi Ka. One was inside the door, the other outside, both in turmoil. They both recalled everything they’d been through. Just as Mi Ka mustered the courage to open the door, Xing Kelei had already left.

When Mi Ka opened the door and saw Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan, she realized that Xing Kelei already knew she was going abroad. Mi Ka ran downstairs and caught up with Xing Kelei, saying she would give up on going to Allen Medical Center. Xing Kelei didn’t say anything but hugged her. After going upstairs, they talked for a while.

Mi Ka said she was willing to give up the opportunity for him, but Xing Kelei said they had been through life and death together, and nothing would separate them again. Even though he was reluctant, he still wanted her to cherish the opportunity and pursue her dream. Mi Ka took out the ring and asked if it was for her.

Xing Kelei said he had planned to propose but now, with all that had happened, asked her what she wanted. Mi Ka proposed to Xing Kelei instead, asking if he would marry her. She told him to wait until she came back from abroad and then give her a proper proposal. That day, Ruan Qingxia tried on wedding dresses at a bridal shop. She and Shu Wenbo had already set a wedding date.

Since Shu’s father was unwell, they planned to hold the ceremony in Shu’s hometown. However, they would stay in Jiangning to take wedding photos and hold a small reception for friends and colleagues. Since Shu and Xing Kelei hadn’t arrived yet, Ruan asked Mi Ka to try on a wedding dress as well.

Episode 38 Recap

Shu Wenbo and Xing Kelei arrived at the bridal shop. When Xing Kelei saw Mi Ka in a wedding dress, he was completely stunned. Suddenly, Xing Kelei started to regret agreeing to let Mi Ka go abroad for further studies. He took out the engagement ring, which he had turned into a pendant on a necklace, and placed it around Mi Ka’s neck. He told her that she could go, but she must go as his fiancée. Mi Ka agreed.

Soon after, Ruan Qingxia went to the police department to take wedding photos with Shu Wenbo. Mi Ka showed the photos to the nurses, who were all amazed and began gossiping about when Mi Ka and Xing Kelei would get married. But Mi Ka was secretly saddened by the upcoming separation. Shao Yuhan noticed her sadness and comforted her with a few words.

He also shared his past with Xing Keyao, saying that if they had been more understanding of each other like Mi Ka and Xing Kelei, perhaps they wouldn’t have broken up. Mi Ka found it a bit strange—Shao Yuhan usually wasn't the expressive type—so she guessed that he wanted her to pass those words on to Xing Keyao. When Shao Yuhan realized Mi Ka understood his intentions, he was quite relieved.

That evening, after returning home, Mi Ka told Xing Keyao about her conversation with Shao Yuhan. Xing Keyao realized that Shao Yuhan was using Mi Ka to apologize to her. She explained that they had a falling-out the other day because he had recommended Mi Ka to the Allen Medical Center. Xing Keyao actually felt comforted seeing that Mi Ka could confess to Xing Kelei so directly, saying she couldn't live without him.

Back then, she and Shao Yuhan had been too proud to confess their love for each other, and their lack of communication led to their breakup. Xing Keyao encouraged Mi Ka, hoping that she and Xing Kelei could have a happy ending. After the chat, she took the initiative to call Shao Yuhan and invited him to go house hunting on Saturday—essentially forgiving him. Shu Wenbo and Ruan Qingxia held a simple wedding reception.

The two exchanged heartfelt words, and the guests coaxed Mi Ka and Xing Kelei into sharing a wedding toast. Amid everyone’s cheering, the two drank their cross-cupped wine. Li Nian and others pulled Shu Wenbo over for more toasting, wishing him a happy marriage. After some drinks, Ruan Qingxia came to "protect her husband," and Shu Wenbo once again declared his love, thanking her for giving him a home in this unfamiliar city.

After the wedding, Mi Ka went abroad for her training, while Xing Kelei stayed in China, continuing to lead the Tiger Assault Team for training and missions as usual. At home, he created a calendar to mark his daily longing for Mi Ka. The two could only video call each other during their limited spare time.

During one call, Mi Ka told Xing Kelei she would be returning to China next month to accompany her mentor, Dr. Smith, to a medical forum and help with translation work. This trip would finally give her a chance to see Xing Kelei again, and he was overjoyed. When Mi Ka arrived at the forum hotel to check in, she unexpectedly ran into Yanshan in the lobby. Yanshan had also returned to China with her mentor to attend the forum.

She had seen Mi Ka’s name on the attendee list and came to find her. Mi Ka was also delighted to see Yanshan. They chatted briefly before Mi Ka received a call from Xing Kelei, who had guessed she would have arrived by then. Xing Kelei was training another team in Changgang. After video calling him, Mi Ka asked him to send her his location so she could visit after the forum. She even decided to go a day early to surprise him.

Episode 39 Recap

Mi Ka bought a 1:40 p. m. bus ticket to Changgang, unaware that the local police were also boarding the same bus while tracking a criminal suspect. A crisis was about to unfold, but Mi Ka was blissfully unaware, filled with joy at the thought of seeing Xing Kelei soon. A fellow passenger chatted with her briefly and learned she was a doctor. They talked a bit, and before long, they arrived at Jiangshui Town.

A man in green stood up and took the bag placed beside the criminal suspect. The undercover police recognized him as the person coming to make a deal with the suspect. However, Mi Ka saw the scene and mistakenly thought the man in green was stealing. She quickly told the passenger next to her, who advised her to stay out of it. Still, Mi Ka stepped forward to stop the man in green.

The undercover officer tried to persuade Mi Ka not to interfere, but during the scuffle, a gun was exposed on the green-clad man’s waist. Realizing they were exposed, several drug traffickers opened fire on the police. The driver took advantage of the chaos to brake hard and fled in panic. Just as the undercover officer was about to subdue the man in green, a gunshot rang out—he was shot and fell.

It turned out the passenger who had been sitting beside Mi Ka was actually the drug traffickers’ leader. He had fired the shot and quickly took control, ordering his men to draw the curtains and collect all passengers’ phones. The command team following the bus immediately requested SWAT backup. The drug lord’s younger brother, Xiao Jun, had been shot during the earlier gunfight. The drug lord urgently called Mi Ka over to check on him.

After examining him, Mi Ka said that Xiao Jun needed to be taken to the hospital immediately to remove the bullet, or his life would be in danger. But the drug lord knew they would be arrested the moment they got off the bus and insisted that Mi Ka operate on Xiao Jun right there.

To provide surgical equipment, he used undercover officer Xiao Li’s phone to call Captain Chen and asked Mi Ka to explain the situation and request medical equipment and personnel. At that moment, Xing Kelei also received a call from Captain Cao. After learning the situation, he rushed to assist. Upon arrival, he learned from Captain Chen that the doctor on the bus was Mi Ka.

Xing Kelei then requested permission from Captain Cao to disguise himself as a doctor and board the bus to buy time until nightfall for a close-range operation. During the call between Captain Chen and the drug traffickers, Chen demanded they release some of the hostages first. Mi Ka also tried to persuade them, explaining that there were too many people on the bus, making it impossible to perform surgery.

The drug traffickers hesitated, then agreed to release some hostages after the doctor boarded. Xing Kelei, dressed in a white coat and carrying medical equipment, approached the bus. The traffickers searched him before allowing him to board. Mi Ka was shocked to see Xing Kelei but forced herself to stay calm. The drug lord, suspicious of Xing Kelei’s identity, asked him to open the medical kit and identify various surgical tools. Xing Kelei had prepared for this in advance.

Seeing the drug lord continuing to question him, Mi Ka intervened to help, urging them to proceed with the surgery. As agreed, the traffickers released a portion of the hostages. Mi Ka wanted to let the women and children off first, but the cunning drug lord only released the men.

One child on the bus had a high fever, and Mi Ka firmly insisted that he be let go, saying that if anything went wrong during the surgery, she wouldn’t be held responsible. Left with no choice, the drug lord agreed to release the sick child. The surgery was about to begin, but the curtains were drawn on the bus, and the lighting was poor. The drug traffickers requested a generator and lights from Captain Chen.

Several of them closely watched Mi Ka and Xing Kelei during the operation. During the procedure, Xing Kelei accidentally picked up the wrong instrument, arousing the drug lord’s suspicion. He immediately ordered his men to fetch Mi Ka’s phone and, upon checking her photo album, discovered Xing Kelei’s identity. The drug lord then tied Xing Kelei up and demanded an SUV from Captain Chen. By the time the surgery was over, night had fallen.

The drug lord told Captain Chen to bring the SUV and ordered his men to watch the vehicle outside closely in case of police tricks. Mi Ka deliberately pulled out Xiao Jun’s monitoring device to distract the traffickers, giving the police a chance to hide under the bus. When the SUV arrived, the drug lord had the hostages walk in pairs back-to-back around them to prevent snipers from getting a clear shot. He kept Mi Ka as a hostage and forced Xing Kelei to walk in front of her and exit the bus first. 1/2

Episode 40 (Ending) Recap

Under the cover of the hostages, the drug dealers got off the bus. As Xing Kelei got off, he secretly took a scalpel. While the drug dealers were forcing a hostage onto the bus, he cut the rope tying him and started to fight with them. The scene instantly descended into chaos. Seeing an opportunity, the snipers who had been lying in ambush around the area began to open fire, killing the drug dealers one by one.

Realizing the situation was turning against him, the drug lord grabbed Mi Ka and returned to the bus. Xing Kelei quickly boarded as well. Mi Ka started to resist, knocking the gun from the drug lord’s hand. Xing Kelei rushed forward and kicked the drug lord down. He pulled Mi Ka up, trying to get her off the bus first, but the drug lord tried to fight back again.

He got up, pulled out a dagger, and stabbed toward Mi Ka. Xing Kelei reacted quickly, pulling Mi Ka aside and taking the stab in her place. The drug lord saw Xing Kelei still had the strength to resist and continued fighting him. Just as Xing Kelei was about to be stabbed again due to exhaustion, Mi Ka picked up a gun from the ground and shot down the drug lord.

The drug lord lost the ability to resist, but Xing Kelei’s condition wasn’t good either. Seeing that he was struggling to breathe, Mi Ka quickly determined that his left lung had been injured. Forcing herself to stay calm, she pulled out medical tools and performed emergency treatment on him. Fortunately, the ambulance was nearby, and medical staff immediately took Xing Kelei to the hospital. He was in a coma for a whole day and night before waking up.

Mi Ka had stayed by his side the entire time. She finally felt at ease when he regained consciousness. Lying beside him, they embraced tightly, expressing how much they missed each other during this time. Xing Kelei held Mi Ka in his arms and softly comforted her, telling her to have a good sleep. Xing Kelei's injury had mostly healed, and Mi Ka specially took half a month off to take care of him.

Xing Keyao and Shao Yuhan also got engaged. While choosing a wedding gift for Yi Qian, Shao Yuhan suddenly suggested they register their marriage at the civil affairs office the next day, and Xing Keyao agreed. Another perfect couple, Ruan Qingxia and Shu Wenbo, had already welcomed the fruit of their love. After Xu Yanshan returned to the country, she ran into Chen Tao at a convenience store.

Chen Tao had still liked Xu Yanshan all these years, and she planned to return to Renxin Hospital to work. Xing Kelei and Mi Ka were preparing for an overseas trip. For this trip, Xing Kelei hadn’t taken a day off in a year and a half. After packing, Xing Kelei saw Mi Ka had left her wedding ring on the table.

He secretly pocketed it and told her he couldn’t find it, urging her to leave and promising to search after they got back. He then took Mi Ka to the police station, saying he had forgotten something and needed someone to bring it to him. The two waited by the training base, chatting and reminiscing about how they met and grew close. Xing Kelei asked if Mi Ka still remembered failing the high-altitude rappelling test.

Mi Ka smiled, recalling how she had fainted mid-air — an unforgettable memory. Xing Kelei asked if she dared to try rappelling again. As he spoke, he pulled her upstairs. They talked about many past moments, and Xing Kelei asked if she dared to look down from the rooftop. Mi Ka, now much braver than before, took a few steps forward and looked down — only to find that Xing Kelei had prepared a surprise marriage proposal for her below.

Xing Kelei had brought Mi Ka to the rooftop just to propose to her formally. He took out a ring and made a heartfelt confession. Although nothing good ever seemed to happen when they were together, he still felt that meeting Mi Ka was the luckiest thing in his life. Mi Ka didn’t reply with words. Instead, she kissed Xing Kelei, using her actions to answer him.

As they looked out at the night view, Xing Kelei said he had always wanted to bring Mi Ka to see it. He confessed that he felt guilty choosing the police profession, as he couldn't put Mi Ka first. He feared she wouldn’t be able to accept it. Mi Ka, although not entirely able to accept it, understood the burden on Xing Kelei's shoulders. She knew he wasn’t just protecting her, but also the safety of the whole city.

Hearing Mi Ka’s words, Xing Kelei felt relieved and held her even tighter. Life would go on tomorrow. No matter what difficulties the future held, as long as they protected each other, they believed they could overcome anything. They would continue to shine in their respective roles.
