The two stood intimately side by side, Ji Bai with his arm around Xu Xu's shoulder. They did not know that danger was approaching step by step. Xu Xu arrived at General Po's location with the documents, but saw General Po shoot and kill a defenseless prisoner right in front of her.
Her mind rapidly pondered some seemingly familiar scenes. What kind of person was General Po, exactly? The return train was finally about to depart, and the thrilling journey seemed to have settled into calm. The disheveled Hu Zhishan was also escorted onto the train. Ji Bai confronted this cunning old criminal, telling him that he was merely a pawn discarded by Jindun. With no retreat left, Hu Zhishan opened up, revealing Jindun's possible transfer locations and escape routes.
Ji Bai quickly reported this crucial intelligence to Zhan Ting. On the other side, the police who had originally thought they could capture Zhao Xiaolu found nothing. Zhao Xiaolu was nowhere to be found. Xu Xu looked through the case files on the train. The person who rescued Zhao Xiaolu at the time had extremely precise marksmanship, very similar to General Po, who had shot the prisoner that day.

With Hu Zhishan's confession, the police followed the clues and finally found Jin Dun's hiding place and arrested him. Zhan Ting gazed at this opponent who had contended with him for more than a decade and asked him if he still remembered the Ye Lanqing kidnapping case from thirteen years ago. In that case, Jin Dun, along with Hu Zhishan, blew up Ye Lanqing, and Zhao Lang subsequently disappeared. Jin Dun sneered.
How could he, being insane, understand the responsibility on the shoulders of Chinese police officers? Xu Xu listed a series of conditions in her notebook that the person Zhao Xiaolu relied on should possess, all pointing to one truth—General Po was the Golden Python. Xu Xu quickly called Zhan Ting to report, and Zhan Ting immediately decided to take action. Xu Xu wanted to find colleagues for help, but she was forced to be taken away by General Po.
Her colleagues noticed that something was wrong, but they were all controlled by the Burmese forces and unable to move. Hu Zhishan revealed to Ji Bai that he orchestrated the kidnapping of Zhang Shiyong, pinning the losses of the Ye Group on Ye Zixi, murdering Ye Zixi, and sending someone to kill Zhang Shiyong after the matter was exposed. He could not escape responsibility for every crime: murder, smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
General Po returned to his bedroom on the train. A seductive woman sat up from the bed and embraced him; it was Zhao Xiaolu. This female criminal reminded General Po to be careful of Xu Xu. Xu Xu came to General Po's compartment. Only the General was inside. He expressed great interest in the psychological techniques Xu Xu specialized in and wanted to hear Xu Xu's assessment of him.
Xu Xu knew very well that General Po had already begun to suspect her at this point and was testing her. So, Xu Xu remained calm and composed, quietly responding and calmly analyzing several of General Po's characteristics. The battle-hardened General Po realized that things were about to be exposed. He put Xu Xu under house arrest, went to the bedroom inside the compartment, and told Zhao Xiaolu to stop the train halfway and reroute to send her to Laos.
After Ji Bai finished his conversation with Hu Zhishan, he saw a text message from a colleague on his phone: Xu Xu had been taken away by Po. Ji Bai had a bad feeling and was about to go after them when he was unexpectedly ambushed by Po's personal guards and injured. After dealing with the soldiers, Ji Bai, disregarding his injuries, opened the room where Xu Xu was being held.
Po's identity was completely exposed, and a fierce firefight broke out between the Chinese and Burmese sides. The train was about to stop. Po was immediately going to send Zhao Xiaolu to escape and also take Xu Xu as a hostage. The entire train was now Po's army.
At the critical moment, Ji Bai tried his best to help Xu Xu climb out of the window, letting her take a signal flare and find an open area to try to notify headquarters of the train's location. Xu Xu couldn't bear to leave Ji Bai and the others, but at this moment, it was a matter of survival, and only by surviving could she quickly contact the border forces and save everyone.
Watching Xu Xu land on the grass outside the window, Ji Bai tucked the comic book into his waist, picked up his gun, and prepared to go out to meet the enemy. As soon as he opened the door, Zhao Xiaolu shot him directly in the abdomen. Ji Bai fell to the ground in response. Xu Xu struggled to get up, frantically calling out towards the train.
Episode 21 (Ending) Recap
Carrying her mentor's expectations and the heavy responsibility of saving everyone, Xu Xu disregarded her injury, stumbled to her feet, and desperately ran forward. On the boundless grassland, a small figure kept running. Finally, reaching an open area, Xu Xu pulled out a signal flare, lit it, and flames and smoke erupted. Soon, the signal flare burned out, and Xu Xu fell to the ground, weeping uncontrollably. Just then, a car stopped beside Xu Xu; it was Zhao Lang!
It turned out that Zhao Lang had not sacrificed himself! For so many years, he had been hidden in the Golden Triangle. Po and Zhao Xiaolu escaped, bringing the severely injured Ji Bai with them. Zhao Xiaolu accidentally injured her foot with a trap in the bushes, bleeding profusely and finding it difficult to move. Po was preparing to use Ji Bai to threaten the police, to exchange for a car and seize the opportunity to escape.
Zhao Xiaolu didn't want to implicate Po and hoped Po could leave first, but Po lifted her chin and said firmly, "Let's go together." Zhao Lang took Xu Xu to a tributary of the Mekong River; this was a necessary route to Laos, and they could only reach Laotian territory by wading across the riverbank.
Xu Xu found torn paper fragments along the way, which were her comics, stained with Ji Bai's blood; they were marks Ji Bai had left along the way. The two quickly tracked them down. Beside the riverbank, Ji Bai lay weakly on the ground, still breathing. Po stated that as long as they crossed the border, he would release Ji Bai. For a soldier like Po, Ji Bai was a rare and equally matched opponent.
But Zhao Xiaolu didn't think so; taking advantage of Po's inattention, she pulled out a pistol and slowly aimed it at Ji Bai. A gunshot was heard, and Zhao Xiaolu's arm was hit. It was Xu Xu who fired the shot. Po was greatly alarmed, wanting to help Zhao Xiaolu up. He furiously raised his gun, aimed it at the running Xu Xu, but was tackled down by the severely injured Ji Bai.
Po brutally struck Ji Bai with the gun butt, and Ji Bai deeply fell unconscious. The main force finally arrived, and both Po and Zhao Xiaolu were apprehended. Ji Bai weakly opened his eyes, looked at Xu Xu who was holding him and crying, and softly said, "That shot was beautiful. You have passed the assessment and can continue to stay in the Major Crimes Squad." Xu Xu was sobbing uncontrollably. Everything finally truly settled down.
Yao Meng and Zhao Han were about to get married, and Zhao Lang finally returned home. The family was together, enjoying a harmonious time. Yao Meng and Zhao Han's wedding was taking place, and Xu Xu, unusually, wore an elegant black dress and high heels, helping Yao Meng with everything. Suddenly, she saw a familiar tall and straight figure; it was Ji Bai. Xu Xu excitedly asked Ji Bai when he had woken up.
Ji Bai didn't say much; he just returned the mended comic book to Xu Xu and leaned into her ear, gently telling her the ending of the snail and the lion. After listening, Xu Xu embraced Ji Bai deeply. Ji Bai took out a pre-prepared ring and placed it on Xu Xu's hand. The two passionately kissed, and time seemed to stand still.
Ji Bai walked up to Yao Meng, returned the resignation letter she had submitted before, and told Yao Meng, "Welcome back to the team." The wedding was held, grand and romantic. Ye Qiao came to the cemetery in the drizzling rain; her parents, Ye Zixi, and Zhang Shiyong were buried here. Xu Xu and Ji Bai watched Ye Qiao's figure from a distance, not stepping forward to disturb her.
The two were whispering when Ji Bai received a mysterious call; only jumbled sounds came from the other end of the line. A car slowly drove on the forest path, signaling the unknown beginning of another story. Fortunately, the happy people ultimately found each other, and the unfortunate ones also had to continue their lives.
