What a Wonderful World Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Xu Tian underwent a self-test at a private clinic. In the virtual space, he had fallen for Jia Xiaoduo and wanted to re-enter the space to ask Jia Xiaoduo how she felt. However, he was also worried about potential side effects, so he felt conflicted. Shi Yiben, with a serious expression, insisted that Xu Tian complete all the test questions before re-entering the space. But something unexpected happened—Xu Tian received a ride-share order and left without finishing.
Coincidentally, the passenger this time was Jia Xiaoduo. Xu Tian no longer hesitated and drove straight to the destination. Jia Xiaoduo chatted on the phone with a friend in the back seat. Xu Tian misunderstood, thinking she was talking to him. He was overjoyed and took the opportunity to say he wanted to be her boyfriend. When he realized it was a misunderstanding, he was extremely embarrassed.
Just then, a car suddenly cut in and even crashed into Xu Tian’s vehicle. Xu Tian was furious and got out to confront the culprit. As fate would have it, the person was Jia Xiaoduo’s boyfriend, Wang Yangming. Wang Yangming was very angry and took out his frustration on the taxi. Seeing this, Jia Xiaoduo helplessly got out of the car and left with him. On the way, Xu Tian saw Wang Yangming hit Jia Xiaoduo.
Feeling wronged, Jia Xiaoduo returned to Xu Tian’s taxi and asked him to take her away. In the car, Jia Xiaoduo and Xu Tian talked. She said she often had the same strange dream. Xu Tian accidentally discovered that she had secretly recorded him. Jia Xiaoduo took Xu Tian to another mysterious place. Xu Tian looked at the desolate secret room and felt a bit scared. Jia Xiaoduo held his hand and led him in.
Xu Tian didn’t expect Wang Yangming to appear, and the two had a heated argument. Wang Yangming misunderstood their relationship, thinking they were dating. After learning the truth, he publicly apologized to Xu Tian. Xu Tian, staring at the countdown clock, felt terrified, but fortunately, at the critical moment, he managed to escape. Wang Yangming took Jia Xiaoduo home. After some back and forth, the two finally decided to break up.
Xu Tian caught up and asked Jia Xiaoduo whether the love test she gave him was complete. Jia Xiaoduo revealed that according to the test, Xu Tian’s affection for her reached level ten. She said she would give him the money for the car repairs and even kissed Xu Tian in front of Wang Yangming. Xu Tian was overwhelmed with joy, still immersed in the happiness of the moment—until Wang Yangming gave him a beating.
Xu Tian went upstairs to look for Jia Xiaoduo, but standing in the empty room, he had no idea where to find her. After days of fruitless searching, he decided to return to the private clinic and enter the virtual world again. In the virtual world, Xu Tian turned into Jia Xiaoduo. Strange people and various animals appeared before his eyes. Xu Tian looked at the unfamiliar writing in the mirror.
She summoned the courage to open the door, where she saw a green train, a countdown clock, and a task card on the table. Jia Xiaoduo strapped on her bag and walked to another carriage. There, she met Yu Dan, the person specified on the task card. At that moment, Yu Dan was also slowly walking toward Jia Xiaoduo.
Episode 2 Recap
Jia Xiaoduo narrowly escaped danger and entered another carriage alone, where she happened to run into Yu Dan. At that moment, Yu Dan looked despondent as he pulled out a letter, hoping Jia Xiaoduo would read it for him. Jia Xiaoduo refused because she was entirely focused on her task, and the countdown showed there wasn’t much time left. Yu Dan, wearing earmuffs, said he was afraid of hearing harsh noises.
He had been waiting coolly in that place for three years, just for a reply from his mother. After hearing this, Jia Xiaoduo suggested he check the mailbox—perhaps the letter had already arrived. Jia Xiaoduo searched around and found the key to open the mailbox. Letters spilled out, but among the pile, there was none from Yu Dan's mother.
Yu Dan revealed his mother’s address, and with time running out, Jia Xiaoduo hurriedly wrote a letter pretending to be from his mother, hoping Yu Dan would leave with her. However, Yu Dan insisted Jia Xiaoduo read the letter. Jia Xiaoduo racked her brain and made up something on the spot. That carriage was about to be destroyed, yet Yu Dan still showed no intention of leaving.
Helpless, Jia Xiaoduo had no choice but to leave him behind and leaped to the next carriage, while Yu Dan fell off the cliff along with the train car. Jia Xiaoduo mustered the courage to open another carriage door and was greeted by someone named Liu Tiaoer. She cautiously looked around while Liu Tiaoer was focused on painting the walls. Jia Xiaoduo pulled out takeout from the table and suggested she take a break.
With only five minutes left, Jia Xiaoduo hoped Liu Tiaoer would quickly express her needs. Liu Tiaoer suffered from agoraphobia—any close contact with others would leave her gasping for air. She had ordered takeout on the train, and not long after, a delivery person actually showed up. At the same time, the sound of the train running disappeared—this place had turned into Xinyuanli Neighborhood, which was Jia Xiaoduo’s real neighborhood.
Xu Tian often drove her home and was naturally familiar with the place. Seeing that her time was up, Jia Xiaoduo knew the goal of this journey was to find the real Jia Xiaoduo, so she left Liu Tiaoer behind and decisively leapt to the next carriage. Liu Tiaoer walked out of the carriage and jumped into the sea, vanishing without a trace. Xu Tian opened the carriage door again and found someone named Tie Lin waiting for him.
Xu Tian asked what he needed, but Tie Lin refused to communicate and was extremely forceful, even trying to drive Xu Tian away. As time ran out, the train was instantly buried by an avalanche, and Xu Tian slowly awakened from the illusion. Overjoyed at his unexpected rebirth, he saw that Jia Xiaoduo had just requested his ride for the 18th time. Xu Tian quickly fixed his appearance and rushed to the destination.
That night, Xu Tian arrived downstairs at Jia Xiaoduo’s place. Wang Yangming got into the car and showed Xu Tian Jia Xiaoduo’s medical records, which documented her mental illness. Everything that happened the previous night had been meticulously planned by Jia Xiaoduo. Xu Tian wanted to know the truth, so he followed Wang Yangming to a location where Wang Yangming showed him video evidence of Jia Xiaoduo’s episodes, proving he was telling the truth.
In the video, Jia Xiaoduo told Wang Yangming that she always felt she and Xu Tian were the same person. After watching the video, Xu Tian still did not give up on Jia Xiaoduo and entered the illusion with him. This time, he did not turn into Jia Xiaoduo.
Episode 3 Recap
Xu Tian, Wang Yangming, and Jia Xiaoduo entered a mysterious illusion together, where they were met with a thrilling rock-climbing challenge. During the climb, Jia Xiaoduo displayed extraordinary agility, moving swiftly and gracefully like a nimble monkey, quickly leaving Xu Tian and Wang Yangming behind. Watching the three of them climbing together, Wang Yangming suddenly felt a swirl of complex and confusing emotions. In his eyes, the scene faintly outlined a love triangle.
After some inner struggle, he gathered his courage and told Jia Xiaoduo that he wanted to sever the entangled relationship between them. He sincerely hoped Xu Tian and Jia Xiaoduo could be together. As the three climbed and chatted, they had no idea danger was creeping closer. They heard the cry of an eagle and grew frightened, only then realizing they were on a sheer cliff, so terrifying they didn’t dare look down.
Wang Yangming accidentally slipped and fell, and seeing that he might drag the other two down with him, Jia Xiaoduo acted quickly and decisively cut the rope. Wang Yangming instantly plummeted to the bottom of the cliff. Xu Tian gave his all, climbing with great effort through countless obstacles, and finally reached the mountaintop. But the scene before him left him in a panic—Jia Xiaoduo had vanished without a trace.
He looked around anxiously and then opened a door, only to find an elevator inside. He took the elevator down slowly, and when he reached the ground floor, he found Jia Xiaoduo already waiting there. The two walked out of the escape room together. Xu Tian couldn’t help but ask about Jia Xiaoduo’s ex-boyfriend. However, the surroundings began to change strangely—the place where he had talked to Wang Yangming vanished into thin air.
Jia Xiaoduo remained calm, claiming that only the two of them were playing the escape room, and that there was no third person. She even said Wang Yangming was just an NPC, and she gave an unclear explanation about the rope-cutting incident. Xu Tian was overwhelmed by the string of bizarre occurrences, his mind full of unsolvable mysteries. He couldn’t hold back and once again asked Jia Xiaoduo about their past.
But Jia Xiaoduo looked genuinely confused and firmly said that yesterday was the first time they had met—that it wasn’t the 19th time. Stranger still, the medical records on the train now had Xu Tian’s name on them. Sweating anxiously, Xu Tian clumsily tried to explain. Unexpectedly, Jia Xiaoduo leaned in and kissed him. Xu Tian was instantly flustered and at a loss for what to do. He then entered the neighborhood to look for someone, but everything felt dreamlike.
All the apartments looked the same—he seemed to be in a maze, unable to find any trace of Jia Xiaoduo. Xu Tian, troubled and bewildered by those surreal experiences, returned to the clinic in a hurry and, with a face full of confusion, found Dr. Shi Yiben. He urgently asked why he was experiencing these abnormal symptoms.
Shi Yiben, calm and composed, slowly explained that the side effect of entering the illusion was that it allowed him to glimpse his true self. Upon hearing this, Xu Tian felt like he was struck by lightning. It suddenly dawned on him that the people on the train—Yu Dan, Liu Tiaoer, and the others—were all different versions of himself, manifestations of obsessions deeply buried in his heart.
Shi Yiben showed Xu Tian his test data, and after reading it, Xu Tian was struck by how the events of the past few days blurred the line between reality and illusion. He even began to suspect he was living in a virtual world. Shi Yiben reminded him that if he couldn’t see the virtual self clearly, he might as well examine the real self—only by transcending himself could he understand every version of himself across all worlds.
Xu Tian’s mind was filled with images of Jia Xiaoduo in the virtual world—those experiences had completely captivated him. Even after understanding the strangeness of it all, he stubbornly wanted to reenter the virtual world, to return to the moment he first met Jia Xiaoduo. Shi Yiben, helpless and suspecting that Jia Xiaoduo might not even exist, had no choice but to activate the device. Whether they would meet again depended entirely on luck.
Xu Tian reentered the virtual world, and the scene before him changed abruptly. Jia Xiaoduo had become invisible—she couldn’t touch anything. She gazed at the falling rain with a sense of freedom, a smile spreading across her face. She picked up an umbrella and strolled into the rain. Just then, her phone rang—it was Xu Tian calling. As if meeting him for the first time, she got into his taxi.
Episode 4 Recap
Xu Tian looked at Jia Xiaoduo in the back seat through the rearview mirror, full of joy—he had finally seen the person he had been longing for again. In order to get a full view of her, he even turned the dashcam inward to secretly record her every move. When Jia Xiaoduo noticed, she wasn’t angry at all; instead, she gently encouraged him, telling him to live according to his heart and not to wrong himself.
Xu Tian worked diligently during the day and drove rideshare at night, living a peaceful and routine life. Jia Xiaoduo felt his life was too dull and asked him why. Xu Tian honestly said he liked the feeling of driving freely, and even when riding the bus, he enjoyed the moments when the carriage was empty except for him.
Jia Xiaoduo encouraged him to speak his mind and joked that he was like a snail—strong—and guessed he liked traffic police and enjoyed correcting rule-breakers. Unexpectedly, all these inner thoughts were guessed by Jia Xiaoduo. It turned out Jia Xiaoduo was like another version of himself in his heart, inspiring him to do things he usually wouldn’t dare to think about. Jia Xiaoduo clearly expressed that she liked him.
Xu Tian took her home, and Jia Xiaoduo warmly invited him upstairs for a chat about their dreams. Overwhelmed by the attention, Xu Tian mustered the courage to follow her into the residential complex, but in the large building, he suddenly didn’t know which unit Jia Xiaoduo lived in. Jia Xiaoduo stepped out of the elevator, her mind in a fog, and in a daze, she couldn’t even remember where her room was.
Xu Tian anxiously searched the hallway but had no clue and finally had to leave. Jia Xiaoduo stood alone in the hallway, and suddenly Tie Lin from the illusion appeared before her. Tie Lin kept typing on his phone, trying to communicate with her, but Jia Xiaoduo was preoccupied and didn’t pay him any attention. Unexpectedly, the text Tie Lin typed was her room number, and he raised his hand to point in the direction of the room.
But Jia Xiaoduo didn’t enter. She suddenly remembered that this person had once delivered a package to her and there was also some food not yet signed for, so she deliberately delayed to see what would happen next. Jia Xiaoduo walked into a store where Xu Tian was carrying a pile of goods. The two sat and chatted, and Xu Tian gathered his courage to ask Jia Xiaoduo why she liked him.
As they talked, the deliveryman on the other side angrily grabbed an iron rod and stormed out of the residential complex. Jia Xiaoduo checked the time and felt it wasn’t a good night to chat for long, so she decided to end the conversation. The two then got on a bus, but unexpectedly, the deliveryman chased after them, relentlessly pursuing the bus. However, Jia Xiaoduo remained unusually calm. With Xu Tian by her side, she felt at ease.
At this time, there were few passengers on the bus—the exact atmosphere Xu Tian liked. Music played, rain poured outside the window, and Xu Tian, in high spirits, walked toward Jia Xiaoduo and bravely embraced her. Meanwhile, the deliveryman crashed into a private car and had to pay a large compensation. Jia Xiaoduo entered the amusement park.
Before her was a lively, bustling scene, with all kinds of rides dazzling the eye, but she felt it was all somewhat unreal and wasn’t truly joyful inside. She looked around as the crowd moved with the music, and she found herself dancing along. The music was Xu Tian’s favorite, perhaps due to Jia Xiaoduo’s earlier encouragement. Xu Tian also started dancing to the rhythm.
At that moment, the deliveryman Tie Lin suddenly chased them down, demanding an explanation from Jia Xiaoduo. Xu Tian didn’t hesitate to step in front of her. Strangely, he suddenly became like a martial arts master—the world seemed to freeze, and he easily dodged Tie Lin’s attacks. When everything returned to normal, Tie Lin found Jia Xiaoduo had vanished and began searching anxiously.
Xu Tian drove Jia Xiaoduo home, but unfortunately, they encountered a massive traffic jam, the cars blocked up tight. Jia Xiaoduo teased Xu Tian, saying this was his chance to fulfill his dream of directing traffic. Xu Tian really got out to direct, but ended up arguing with a driver. To ease the conflict, the traffic police took both of them into a car and brought them to the police station, where they also ran into Tie Lin, who had been chasing Xu Tian.
Episode 5 Recap
Xu Tian, drunk and disheveled, was brought to the police station. The police sternly asked who had been driving. Jia Xiaoduo became nervous and quickly stood up, saying she had been riding an electric scooter and brought Xu Tian there. When it came time to sign, she absentmindedly signed Xu Tian’s name. Realizing the mistake afterward, she was shocked and quickly explained she thought it had to be signed as Xu Tian, then changed it to her own name.
When asked about their relationship, Jia Xiaoduo answered that they were friends. Jia Xiaoduo and Xu Tian stepped out of the police station, not realizing that Tie Lin had already been lying in wait. Jia Xiaoduo sharply sensed danger and suddenly halted her steps. At that moment, Xu Tian leaned in, trying to kiss her. But Jia Xiaoduo felt conflicted—as if she were Xu Tian herself—and kissing herself felt absurd and unacceptable.
She bluntly said this was a virtual space, she was a player, and Xu Tian was just an NPC. Once the game ended, the character "Jia Xiaoduo" would vanish. But Xu Tian passionately said he wanted to make her his own and was willing to always be online for her. As night approached, Jia Xiaoduo intended to log off. Xu Tian was willing to live in her dreams, but she insisted on finding her real self.
Xu Tian then committed suicide in the game, and the virtual world ended. Xu Tian entered an elevator and casually glanced at the mirror, only to be horrified to see that his reflection had become Jia Xiaoduo. He instantly felt his scalp go numb, his legs weak, but still couldn’t help cautiously moving closer to take a look. At first, he thought it was an illusion, but upon confirmation, he panicked and rushed out of the elevator for help.
When he reached the 11th floor and asked Shi Yiben, he learned that he had truly become the female Jia Xiaoduo. In a rage, he began smashing things to vent his frustration, his manic appearance strangely resembling Tie Lin. Afterward, he was taken to the police station. Like Xu Tian before, he picked up an umbrella and walked out the door, recalling the night before when he and Xu Tian had stood there—now only he remained, all alone.
Jia Xiaoduo returned alone to Room 1101, each step cautious and full of anxiety, hesitant to open the door. When she finally mustered the courage to turn on the light and looked at the furnishings inside, it felt like a completely unfamiliar place. She found the walls covered in sticky notes. Just as she was feeling confused, a call came from the hospital, reminding her of an appointment she had no memory of.
At that moment, a note suddenly fell, as if some mysterious force was communicating with her. Then familiar music began to play—it was Xu Tian’s favorite song. The hot water in the bathroom turned on by itself. Everything seemed pre-arranged, maintaining the rhythm of her former life. To stay awake, she recorded herself each night, reminding herself: she was Xu Tian, not Jia Xiaoduo. Carrying anxiety and unease, Jia Xiaoduo headed to the hospital.
Along the way, she kept playing her recordings. That voice was like an invisible rope, tightly binding her, constantly reminding her not to lose her so-called "self. " Finally entering the consultation room, her heart was pounding and her palms were sweating. When the doctor walked in, her eyes widened in surprise—it was Shi Yiben. Shi Yiben heard the looped recording on her phone and realized she had been insisting she was Xu Tian.
But Xu Tian had already died in the virtual world. Jia Xiaoduo’s phone still had Xu Tian’s rideshare contact—she wanted to book a ride, yet feared he was truly gone forever. At that moment, Jia Xiaoduo became emotionally agitated, firmly insisting she was Xu Tian. She questioned Shi Yiben why she became Jia Xiaoduo after Xu Tian died in the game.
Shi Yiben patiently explained that her body had originally housed four personalities: Liu Tiaoer, Tie Lin, Wang Yangming, and Yu Dan—now only Tie Lin remained. But Jia Xiaoduo wouldn’t listen. She firmly believed she was still in the virtual space. Furious, she turned and stormed out of the consultation room.
Episode 6 Recap
Jia Xiaoduo dragged her heavy steps out of the hospital, only to realize she was trapped in an illusion. The surrounding patients had hollow eyes, as if imprisoned within their own mental cages, struggling in psychological torment just like her. She tried with all her might to escape the suffocating illusion, but the invisible shackles clung to her relentlessly, and every attempt ended in failure. Eventually, a group of doctors confined her in a room without explanation.
As the door slammed shut, Jia Xiaoduo’s fear overflowed. She frantically smashed everything in the room and even desperately tried to escape through the window, but it was all in vain. Helpless, she shakily dialed Xu Tian’s number, only to have the call answered by Shi Yiben. Jia Xiaoduo tried hard to calm herself down. Amid her chaotic thoughts, the idea of pretending to faint flashed through her mind. She gritted her teeth and decided to give it a try.
In an instant, something strange happened—her personality seemed to "split. " One version of her, as lively as Liu Tiaoer, bounced around happily exercising; another followed routines methodically—washing up and going to bed; while a third, bored and indifferent, sat in a corner reading quietly. Just then, a doctor handed her a pill, saying that taking it would earn her the chance to meet with Shi Yiben. Jia Xiaoduo reluctantly took it, only to be told that Dr.
Shi would be off the next day. As the doctor turned around, she quickly spat out the pill, a sly gleam flashing in her eyes—she had already formed a new plan. The next day, sunlight poured into the activity area outside the ward. Like birds released from cages, the patients rushed out to enjoy this moment of freedom, laughter and play echoing everywhere. But Jia Xiaoduo locked herself in her room, meticulously applying makeup in front of the mirror.
She was fully focused, not missing a single detail, trying to recreate her truest appearance from everyday life. Once she finished, with a mix of anxiety and anticipation, she walked heavily but eagerly into Shi Yiben’s therapy room. Pretending to be relaxed, she told Shi Yiben that she had slept well the night before and read a lot of books. Shi Yiben pulled out some test cards and congratulated her on overcoming the influence of her illusory personalities.
But the current task was to eliminate the Tie Lin personality. Jia Xiaoduo, however, was full of hope that Shi Yiben could help her restore the Xu Tian personality, and she slowly began recounting Tie Lin’s traumatic childhood. Jia Xiaoduo obediently lay on the hospital bed, appearing quiet and well-behaved, but her mind was in turmoil, with countless thoughts racing through. Unconsciously, she was once again pulled into the illusionary realm where reality and fantasy intertwined.
When she awoke again, she found herself at home. Just as she was puzzled, a sudden knock on the door startled her. She rushed to open it, but no one was there, and confusion surged within her. At the same time, Tie Lin was causing a scene at a store, trying to draw attention in hopes of gaining praise.
When the police arrived to question him, the shopkeeper helplessly explained that it was all a farce orchestrated by Tie Lin himself. Standing in front of a building, Jia Xiaoduo looked up in shock—she had somehow gained the superpower to control everything. Driven by curiosity, she leapt from the high-rise, thinking she would be shattered, but to her surprise, she landed unscathed and calmly stood up. Meanwhile, Tie Lin was being taken away by the police.
Jia Xiaoduo jumped on his delivery bike and sped off after him, intercepting him successfully on a bridge. Thinking quickly, she claimed to be Tie Lin’s sister and offered to pay the store's damages on his behalf. The store owner, enticed by money, immediately apologized to Tie Lin, and the matter was resolved on the spot. Afterwards, Jia Xiaoduo asked Tie Lin to hand over the compensation money.
Unexpectedly, the bank card malfunctioned, and Tie Lin, driven by greed, risked crawling into a sewer to retrieve the card, leading to a fierce conflict. Feeling dejected, Tie Lin wandered to the riverside, only to find his mother there, intently washing clothes.
Episode 7 Recap
Jia Xiaoduo, overwhelmed with anxiety, kept calling Xu Tian, but no one answered, and her worry threatened to drown her. In desperation, she rushed to a restaurant the two often frequented. Gazing at the familiar surroundings, a wild thought struck her—she imagined herself walking through walls so Xu Tian would appear immediately. Just when she was full of disappointment, her phone rang—it was Xu Tian. Overjoyed, she picked up quickly and sweetly asked him to come pick her up.
Upon learning that they had been thinking of each other all along, their hearts filled with joy, and a tender sweetness quietly bloomed between them, as if even the air turned sugary. Xu Tian, in high spirits, went to a store intending to buy Jia Xiaoduo her favorite snacks. He carefully selected items among the shelves, ending up with quite a few. But when he went to pay, his card wouldn’t swipe, no matter how many times he tried.
The atmosphere turned awkward. The staff mistakenly assumed the girl behind Xu Tian, who happened to be waiting in line, was with him. Xu Tian turned and saw a complete stranger, quickly clarifying that he didn’t know her. To his surprise, the woman brazenly claimed they were together and even grabbed a bag to help him pick up the snacks that had fallen. Xu Tian deliberately kept his distance from her.
His sister, seeing this, reminded him that buying so many snacks wasn’t healthy. Xu Tian, doting, replied that they were all his girlfriend’s favorites. To further distance himself from the strange woman, he spoke coldly. His sister noticed he had left his phone behind and ran out to return it, but Xu Tian, thinking she was pestering him, drove off.
After Jia Xiaoduo finished eating, the restaurant owner, noticing she hadn’t paid, assumed she was trying to dine and dash, and approached with the payment device. Jia Xiaoduo remained calm, saying her boyfriend would come and pay. She then tried calling Xu Tian. At that moment, Xu Tian, driving, realized his phone was missing and began searching frantically. Jia Xiaoduo, however, couldn’t reach him.
Xu Tian rushed back to the store to find his phone, but his sister had already taken it. As closing time approached, he anxiously searched for her in the streets. After getting lost at an intersection, he finally arrived at the restaurant, but just missed both his sister and Jia Xiaoduo. After many twists and turns, he finally found Jia Xiaoduo at an overpass.
The two agreed to hide away from the world, immersing themselves in their sweet, exclusive time together. They returned home, surrounded by warmth and comfort. Out of the blue, Jia Xiaoduo proposed living together, never parting again and becoming inseparable. Xu Tian readily agreed, his eyes full of happiness. While Jia Xiaoduo went to shower, Xu Tian began tidying up.
During cleaning, he discovered that the notes in the house weren’t all written in Jia Xiaoduo’s handwriting, which filled him with suspicion. He asked her if someone else lived there. Jia Xiaoduo didn’t explain and simply went to bed. Helpless, Xu Tian lay on the couch. Then Jia Xiaoduo suggested registering their marriage the next day. She was afraid that she would lose him the moment she opened her eyes, filled with both fear and hope for the future.
Jia Xiaoduo remained trapped in an illusion. When she slowly awoke within it, she happily searched for Xu Tian, but he was nowhere to be found. However, traces left in the house indicated that he had been there. Anxious, she quickly called him. Xu Tian answered, saying he would return before dawn. Just then, the residential complex suddenly collapsed. Having finally found Xu Tian, she couldn’t bear to lose him again.
In a panic, she rushed toward Zhishu Street, determined to find him before waking from the illusion. Upon arrival, she encountered another collapse. The surroundings kept changing, as if forcing her to leave. In the depths of her agony, Xu Tian appeared like a heavenly savior and quickly carried her away. Xu Tian drove Jia Xiaoduo through the streets, as a light rain began to fall. Under the rain, the two clung to each other, filled with tender affection.
They joyfully envisioned their future, their words brimming with longing for the days ahead. Xu Tian gazed deeply into Jia Xiaoduo’s eyes. During their conversation, he slowly took out a ring and officially proposed to her. Jia Xiaoduo didn’t immediately put on the ring. Her cheeks flushed as she shyly said she wanted to wait for Monday—a special day. In her heart, Monday symbolized the most romantic ceremony, worthy of her earnest anticipation.
Episode 8 (Ending) Recap
With deep affection, Xu Tian slowly took a ring out of his pocket and proposed to Jia Xiaoduo. However, Jia Xiaoduo did not immediately and happily put on the ring. Instead, her face was full of anticipation, as she looked forward to Monday—a day of special significance for her. Afterwards, the two of them walked hand in hand to the bridge, quietly gazing at the picturesque scenery in the distance.
In that moment, they seemed to forget everything around them, seeing only each other, their emotions silently filling the air. Xu Tian suddenly had an idea and suggested that they keep their relationship a secret and not make it public. He even solemnly created a secret code for communication, agreeing that they could find each other at this very place in the future. In addition, Xu Tian had prepared a surprise gift for Jia Xiaoduo.
With great anticipation, Jia Xiaoduo opened the car trunk and was greeted by a bouquet of dewy, beautiful roses. But just as this romantic and warm moment was unfolding, an accident occurred—Xu Tian’s car suddenly reversed by itself, and the unprepared Jia Xiaoduo was struck into the river. Seeing this, Xu Tian was overwhelmed with anxiety and immediately jumped into the river to save her, only to discover that the river had somehow frozen over.
This sudden development made the situation even more critical. Xu Tian slowly regained consciousness. Once his mind cleared, he clearly felt that Jia Xiaoduo’s personality was no longer inside his body. Seeing this, Shi Yiben quickly handed him a glass of water and smiled, explaining that this treatment had lasted the longest. From the moment Xu Tian filled out the form, he had keenly sensed that the primary personality—Xu Tian—had finally returned.
It turned out that Xu Tian had previously altered his test answers because, deep down, he did not want to expel Jia Xiaoduo’s personality. But now things had changed—he and Jia Xiaoduo’s personalities could no longer coexist in the same body, and a happy ending was destined to be out of reach. Previously, Jia Xiaoduo’s personality had nearly completely replaced Xu Tian’s. Although his appearance had not changed, his habits and consciousness had already fully become Jia Xiaoduo’s.
Xu Tian began the formal process of discharge. Shi Yiben, very enthusiastic, took the initiative to contact Xu Tian’s sister to pick him up at the hospital. At that moment, a nearby nurse looked on with deep regret. In her view, having one person live inside another’s heart, with mutual care and warmth between them, was actually a beautiful emotional experience. But the thought that they could never truly meet made it all seem too cruel.
After that, the nurse led Xu Tian toward his room. Along the way, Xu Tian seemed to see traces that Jia Xiaoduo had once left there. He quietly packed his belongings, yet Jia Xiaoduo’s familiar presence lingered in the air. At that moment, he could no longer suppress his longing and sorrowfully broke down in tears. Shi Yiben prescribed a one-month course of medication for Xu Tian.
After taking the medicine, Xu Tian lay quietly on the bed, his thoughts surging. As night fell and after tidying up the ward, he clutched Jia Xiaoduo’s photo tightly and quietly left the hospital. Xu Tian deeply loved Jia Xiaoduo, even though she was not a real person. He sat at the hospital entrance, silently waiting for his sister to arrive. She told him she would be leaving the next day and wouldn’t return home.
Xu Tian, however, didn’t seem to care as expected. Instead, he softly said he was going to marry Jia Xiaoduo and solemnly stated that the ring was in the car. But that car hadn’t been used for three months. His sister felt he hadn’t recovered and helplessly said that no one would bring him back to the hospital in the future. Yet Xu Tian firmly declared that he would not return again—he would hide Jia Xiaoduo in his heart.
After his sister left, Xu Tian walked alone to the dust-covered car. He slowly wiped the car door, then opened it, his gaze falling on the medical records inside. Memories of the past surged like a tide. He opened the box, and inside lay a ring, which he clutched tightly as he walked toward the bridge where Jia Xiaoduo had fallen. At the bridge, he resolutely poured out the medication Shi Yiben had prescribed, thinking only of finding Jia Xiaoduo.
At that moment, a butterfly fluttered by, and the lights flickered. To his surprise and delight, he found a note written by Jia Xiaoduo at the bridge. Xu Tian looked up at the sky and tenderly promised to hide Jia Xiaoduo in the softest part of his heart, to "live with her" from then on, and remain lovingly together.
