During a video call, Xia Lin pressed Jia Fei about her relationship with Wen Li, questioning why she always ran away from him. Jia Fei explained that after the incident at the fencing club, Wen Li had chased her for two kilometers, leaving her feeling quite traumatized. Xia Lin suspected Wen Li was pursuing her, and Jia Fei admitted he had asked if they could be together, but she hadn't given him an answer yet, feeling it was too soon.
She was also wary of him not being serious and planned to clarify things with him soon, despite Xia Lin's belief that Wen Li seemed reliable. Jia Fei ended the call early due to sleepiness. Later, Ling Yizhou sent Xia Lin a message, confirming he would pick her up for the film set the next morning, a promise he insisted upon despite her initial hesitation.
The next day, Ling Yizhou arrived with Special Assistant Wen, who offered Xia Lin a meal replacement powder from Ling Yizhou, as he was concerned she might skip breakfast. Xia Lin took the opportunity to subtly try and set up Jia Fei and Wen Li.
She claimed she was late because she was helping Jia Fei pack some items Jia Fei had left at her place, adding that Jia Fei would not pick them up herself as it would interrupt her work. She suggested Wen Li deliver them, also mentioning Jia Fei's disappointment over a canceled Bali trip. Ling Yizhou, observing the conversation, told Wen Li he was free that afternoon, implicitly giving him permission to deliver the items. Wen Li agreed cheerfully.
At the film set, Chu Yan arrived early and asked Miss Jiang about Xia Lin's whereabouts. Miss Jiang informed him Xia Lin was stuck in traffic but would arrive soon. Chu Yan went inside to wait. A short while later, Miss Jiang entered the room and was alarmed to find Chu Yan looking at an engagement agreement on the table. Chu Yan confronted her, demanding to know about the contract.
Just then, Ling Yizhou escorted Xia Lin into the film set. Xia Lin excused herself to use the restroom. Chu Yan spotted Ling Yizhou and called him aside, accusing him of many "ulterior things" behind his back. Ling Yizhou feigned ignorance. Chu Yan then directly questioned him about the engagement agreement, asking how he could make such a significant event into a business deal.
Ling Yizhou, realizing Chu Yan must have learned about it from Miss Jiang, emphasized the contract's confidential nature and its importance to Xia Lin. He demanded to know if anyone else knew. Chu Yan admitted he saw it on the table when Miss Jiang came to put it away. Ling Yizhou immediately called Wen Li, instructing him to warn Miss Jiang of severe consequences if anyone else learned about the agreement.
Ling Yizhou then clarified to Chu Yan that the agreement was "forced by the situation." Chu Yan retorted that this implied Xia Lin didn't love him when they got engaged. Ling Yizhou challenged him, asking how he could be sure of her feelings now or in the future, prompting Chu Yan to declare that "time and his heart would prove everything." Ling Yizhou then warned Chu Yan not to do anything that could harm Xia Lin, especially her career.
Chu Yan insisted he always protected her. When Xia Lin entered the room, Chu Yan announced he would wait outside for her. Ling Yizhou then approached Xia Lin, pulled her into a tight hug, and told her that although he thought he was used to business trips, at that moment, he only wanted to hold her. He then made an inappropriate suggestion about finishing what they "didn't finish yesterday."
Xia Lin struggled to break free, telling him he was going too far. She was then called away by a staff member and quickly wished Ling Yizhou a safe trip to the UK before rushing off for filming. Meanwhile, Wen Li arrived at Jia Fei's apartment with the items. After knocking and getting no response, he found the door unlocked and entered. The apartment was in disarray, prompting his concern. He found Jia Fei asleep in front of her computer.
Wen Li then tidied her apartment and cooked for her. When Jia Fei groggily awoke and took a few bites, she mistook the food for takeout. Startled to see Wen Li, she asked how he got in. Wen Li explained the door was unlocked, to which Jia Fei calmly replied, "It's normal," leaving Wen Li wide-eyed. He also mentioned buying her favorite shampoo. Suddenly, Jia Fei rushed to the bathroom and began to vomit.
Wen Li, concerned, asked if she was alright. Jia Fei dismissed it, saying she just ate too quickly. However, a thought struck her: her period was half a month late, leading her to wonder if she was pregnant. After emerging from the bathroom, Jia Fei posed a hypothetical situation from her script, asking Wen Li what he would do if a character unexpectedly became pregnant.
Wen Li stated that pregnancy was very difficult, and the father should be told as it involved both parents. He spoke about his sister's difficult pregnancy and expressed that if he had a wife and children, he would cherish them deeply and ensure they never suffered as he did in his childhood. Jia Fei found his words heartwarming but then quickly corrected herself, saying the characters' feelings weren't deep enough for such a situation. Wen Li agreed with her.
Later that day, Lawyer Fu arranged a meeting with Miss Jiang, claiming he had interesting information about Xia Lin and Ling Yizhou. Although initially hesitant, Miss Jiang agreed. Lawyer Fu then showed her a document, which visibly shocked her. He told her that Ling Yizhou was not as upright as she imagined. Miss Jiang asserted her primary responsibility was to Xia Lin and that she would not let her artist be harmed.
Lawyer Fu then requested that she not inform Xia Lin about what she had seen, and Miss Jiang promised to keep it a secret. Earlier, Ling Yizhou had texted Xia Lin to inform her he had boarded his flight to the UK, reassuring her he would return soon and to contact Wen Li if she needed anything. Xia Lin wished him a safe journey.
The next day, Chu Yan took Xia Lin to a photo exhibition hosted by his good friend, Zhao Ying, a renowned photographer. Chu Yan had invited her under the guise of networking, hinting it was a way to repay her for recommending him for a role. At the exhibition, Zhao Ying greeted them warmly, complimenting Xia Lin and mentioning her status as Ling Yizhou's fiancée. Chu Yan deflected the conversation and took Xia Lin to view the exhibits.
They came across a photo Chu Yan had taken of Xia Lin during a film wrap party two years prior. Chu Yan proudly declared himself a "super photographer." Chu Yan then revealed to Xia Lin that he knew about her engagement agreement with Ling Yizhou. Xia Lin was surprised, but Chu Yan dismissed it as unimportant, promising to keep it secret. He expressed understanding and mentioned that Ling Yizhou had told him it was "forced by the situation."
Chu Yan suggested it might have been the best solution at the time, but he lamented that if he had known earlier or been by her side at that fateful dinner, things might have been different. He assured her he could help and that despite Ling Yizhou's seemingly cold demeanor, he did care for her.
He also told Xia Lin that once the contract ended, she would be free to be herself, pursue her desired career, and choose her own romantic relationships. Xia Lin thanked him for his understanding and for agreeing to keep her secret. Back at home, Xia Lin's thoughts were troubled. She recalled Ling Yizhou's sweet suggestion for her to move in with him, which he had explained was for her safety, as Lawyer Fu was using her as leverage against him.
However, the phrase "forced by the situation," uttered by both Ling Yizhou and Chu Yan, resonated deeply. She questioned the true meaning behind Ling Yizhou's words, wondering if they were genuine or merely part of their "deal." She tried to shake off these thoughts, reminding herself that their arrangement was a transaction and that she shouldn't get too deeply involved emotionally.
Around the same time, Jia Fei, feeling unwell, nervously used a pregnancy test stick and discovered she was indeed pregnant. She called Xia Lin, claiming she was too sick to go shopping with her. While shopping alone, Xia Lin noticed two paparazzi following her. She quickly put on her mask and tried to leave, but realized there were actually four paparazzi tailing her. Unable to shake them, she ducked into a store's dressing room.
When someone knocked and asked if the clothes fit, Xia Lin, assuming it was a sales assistant, said she would be out shortly to pay. When silence fell, she cautiously opened the door, only to find Ling Yizhou standing there. He quickly entered and closed the door behind him. Xia Lin demanded to know why he was there, given he was supposed to be in the UK. He simply said he missed her and returned early.
When she asked how he knew where she was, he calmly stated he could know anything he wanted and had sent people to protect her due to safety concerns. Xia Lin retorted that it sounded more like surveillance. Ling Yizhou deflected by commenting on her all-pink outfit. Xia Lin anxiously asked if the paparazzi had left. Ling Yizhou confidently claimed he had "handled it."
He then asserted that he had just "saved the beauty" and asked how she intended to reward him. Xia Lin, trying to escape, insisted she was smart enough to handle it herself. As Ling Yizhou approached, Xia Lin spotted someone else nearby. However, before she could fully react, Ling Yizhou gently held her face and kissed her. Nearby customers and store employees, recognizing them, immediately began to record the scene on their phones.
