In a parking lot, Fu Weining gets into Mr. Jin's car. Mr. Jin mentions hearing that Fu Weining and Ling Yizhou were college classmates, but Fu Weining dismisses it as ancient history. Mr. Jin expresses concern that Fu Weining might go easy on Ling Yizhou due to their past. Fu Weining scoffs, highlighting Ling Yizhou's privileged background as the Lingshi Group heir compared to his own humble origins, asserting there could be no common ground between them.

Mr. Jin then criticizes Ling Yizhou's recent participation in entertainment programs with female stars, suggesting such a person cannot manage a company effectively, and praises Fu Weining's capabilities. He assigns Fu Weining a critical task, emphasizing its importance and high stakes, and promises to fulfill his part of their agreement if the job is done. Exhausted after finishing her program, Xia Lin arrives home to a doorbell ring.

A courier delivers Pidan, a dog she initially believes is from the program team. Soon after, Ling Yizhou messages her, asking if she received the dog. Xia Lin happily thanks him and accepts his dinner invitation for the following evening, adding a playful note that it's "for Pidan." Ling Yizhou, engrossed in his phone in his office, is suddenly interrupted by Fu Weining and a group of people.

Fu Weining announces that Lingshi Group has received an anonymous report alleging that Ling Yizhou's international information business is involved in unfair competition. Foreign investors are highly displeased, demanding a thorough investigation and threatening to immediately fire the CEO or withdraw all their investments if the allegations are true. The board of directors has decided that Ling Yizhou must be temporarily suspended for 30 days to undergo an internal audit, with Fu Weining personally overseeing the investigation.

Fu Weining coldly states that Ling Yizhou is prohibited from participating in any company decisions until the matter is resolved, and dismissively orders him to leave the office immediately. Ling Yizhou's eyes sharpen at Fu Weining's audacity, but he says nothing, simply walking out with Wen Li. In a meeting room, Fu Weining confronts Ling Yizhou, remarking on their unexpected reunion.

Ling Yizhou observes that Fu Weining remains as sharp as ever, warning him that such a temperament might lead to self-harm. Fu Weining retorts that Ling Yizhou is still arrogant, assuring him that their past as classmates will not grant him any leniency. Later, while walking Pidan, Xia Lin feels a pang of disappointment when Ling Yizhou doesn't message her, surprised by her own thoughts of him.

Her agent, Miss Jiang, calls, informing her she has passed an audition and will begin filming a new drama. Xia Lin's lack of enthusiasm prompts Miss Jiang to ask about her mood. Xia Lin attributes it to fatigue from her recent program but assures Miss Jiang she will prepare diligently. During this time, Ling Yizhou privately instructs Wen Li not to disclose his work-related issues to Xia Lin. The next day, Xia Lin begins filming her new drama.

In a scene with Zhen Baohui, the director warns them of potential danger and emphasizes the need for a single, successful take, cautioning against "tricks" or letting personal animosity interfere with the shoot. As filming commences, Zhen Baohui aggressively grabs Xia Lin's hair by a lake, pulling her along while arguing, accusing Xia Lin of using underhanded tactics to get engaged to Ling Yizhou and steal the lead role, before suddenly shoving her into the water.

Xia Lin struggles, crying for help, but Zhen Baohui gloats, claiming she has ensured no one is around to help. A crew member's remark indicates Zhen Baohui's actions were premeditated. From afar, the director praises Xia Lin's performance, but Chu Yan senses something is amiss. He quickly rushes to the lake, jumps in, and rescues Xia Lin.

As Xia Lin is helped to rest, Chu Yan confronts Zhen Baohui, telling her he knows her actions were intentional and warns her not to use acting to vent personal frustrations, threatening consequences if she repeats such behavior. After learning about Xia Lin's near-drowning incident, Ling Yizhou instructs Wen Li to contact the head of China Entertainment, the drama's investor.

He also deals with pressing company issues, noting internal struggles affecting Ling Corp's supply chain, and plans a trip to the UK to resolve them. That evening, Ling Yizhou and Xia Lin have dinner. Xia Lin tells him she was followed, likely by paparazzi, and advises him to be cautious too. Ling Yizhou playfully dismisses her concern, but Xia Lin warns him about being photographed in compromising situations given her status as his fiancée.

After dinner, Ling Yizhou escorts Xia Lin home. As she bids him farewell, he pulls her back, asking if there's anything else she wants to say. Xia Lin dismisses it as post-filming excitement. Ling Yizhou then points to his cheek, hinting at a goodbye kiss. Xia Lin playfully tells him to stop the theatrics. Suddenly, Ling Yizhou pulls her into a hug, claiming paparazzi are filming them.

As Xia Lin looks around in a panic, Ling Yizhou quickly presses his cheek against her lips, leaving a red lipstick mark. Blushing and covering her mouth, Xia Lin rushes into her apartment building. Meanwhile, Wen Li reports to Ling Yizhou that the person following Xia Lin was sent by his opponents, prompting Ling Yizhou to order discreet, increased protection for Xia Lin, referring to her as Mumu.

The next day on set, a new actress introduces herself to Xia Lin as Wu Feifei, the new female costar replacing Zhen Baohui. Wu Feifei states Zhen Baohui withdrew due to illness. Xia Lin privately thanks Chu Yan, believing he arranged Zhen Baohui's replacement. Miss Jiang later clarifies to Xia Lin that Zhen Baohui was directly replaced by the investor due to her unprofessional behavior on set.

Fu Weining approaches Xia Lin at the film set, identifying himself as Ling Yizhou's legal advisor and the head of the investigation into Ling Yizhou's alleged bribery and subsequent suspension. He presses Xia Lin for any information she might have. Xia Lin states she has nothing to say, dismissing it as Ling Yizhou's private work matter. Fu Weining warns her that Ling Yizhou might not be as straightforward as she believes and continuing their relationship could jeopardize her acting career.

Miss Jiang intervenes, asserting her authority as Xia Lin's agent. Ling Yizhou then arrives, gives Fu Weining a stern warning, and pulls Xia Lin away from the set. In the car home, Xia Lin confronts Ling Yizhou about his suspension, frustrated that he kept it from her. She argues that as partners and a "community of interests," he should have informed her immediately. Ling Yizhou explains he didn't want his issues to affect her.

Xia Lin, feeling excluded, questions if he believes she's incapable of helping or unworthy of facing challenges with him. Ling Yizhou retorts by pointing out she also didn't tell him about her falling into the water. Stung by his words, Xia Lin angrily orders Special Assistant Wen to stop the car and storms out. Back home, Xia Lin recounts the argument to Jia Fei.

Jia Fei, initially puzzled by Xia Lin's intense reaction to what she calls "acting," playfully teases her for being "too involved" and "acting as fiancée in advance." Jia Fei then explains the importance of mutual support in relationships and reveals that Ling Yizhou was the one who arranged for Zhen Baohui's replacement. She clarifies that Lingshi Group had made a significant investment, overriding China Entertainment's initial plan to replace Xia Lin, also citing Zhen Baohui's unprofessional conduct.

Realizing the extent of Ling Yizhou's actions, Xia Lin feels remorse for her harsh words to him. Under the scorching sun, Ling Yizhou visits Xia Lin on set. Observing Chu Yan performing a "kabedon" scene with Xia Lin on a basketball court, Ling Yizhou, clearly jealous, deliberately distracts Xia Lin with playful remarks, causing her to break character multiple times and frustrating the director and crew.

Ling Yizhou, unfazed, sips his drink under an umbrella, visibly amused by the chaos he causes. During the filming of a kissing scene, Ling Yizhou watches nervously as Xia Lin and Chu Yan's heads draw close, then visibly relaxes when he realizes it's just a staged kiss, not a real one. After filming concludes, Ling Yizhou drives Xia Lin home. In the car, he subtly brings up their recent argument by repeating Xia Lin's accusatory words to him.

Realizing his point, Xia Lin apologizes. Ling Yizhou then suggests Xia Lin move in with him. He explains that while his current professional troubles are personal, Fu Weining is using her as a weak point, and living together would allow him to protect her safety. Xia Lin expresses reluctance, reassuring him of her independence and not wanting to cause him further trouble.

Ling Yizhou then sincerely apologizes for his harsh words during their earlier argument, acknowledging they both tend to handle issues independently. He assures her that nothing she brings into his life is a burden; in fact, he cherishes the "sweet burdens" she offers. He tells her that her presence has brought a vibrant spark to his previously monotonous life, and likens her to a thief who has stolen his heart.

Deeply touched by his sincere words and tender gaze, Xia Lin watches as Ling Yizhou slowly leans in and gently kisses her. Suddenly, a knock at the door causes Xia Lin to panic. Hearing Jia Fei's voice, she frantically urges Ling Yizhou to hide, despite his initial reluctance. No sooner has Jia Fei settled in than Wen Li arrives, claiming Ling Yizhou sent him with medicine, though his true purpose is to find Jia Fei.

Xia Lin invites him in, and as he sits, he spots Jia Fei hiding behind the sofa. He quickly joins her, questioning the meaning of her recent "never meet again" message. At that moment, another knock signals Chu Yan's arrival, who has come to check on Pidan. With Ling Yizhou supposedly hidden and so many unexpected guests, Xia Lin feels overwhelmed.

She attempts to get a drink for Chu Yan, but Ling Yizhou emerges, playfully blocks her access to the refrigerator, and embraces her. Hearing the commotion, Chu Yan walks over and discovers Ling Yizhou holding Xia Lin. He asks about Pidan, and as everyone turns, they spot Wen Li and Jia Fei hiding behind the sofa. Chu Yan, surprised, asks if they are all playing hide-and-seek. Wen Li, Jia Fei, and Chu Yan then quickly make their excuses and depart, leaving Ling Yizhou and Xia Lin alone.
