Unrequited Love Episode 22 Recap
> Unrequited Love Recap
Since her father's passing, Luo Zhi has lived a difficult life, relying solely on her mother. Now that Luo Zhi is older, her mother regrets raising her to be too sensible, making her cautious in everything she does. Luo Zhi's mother called her, expressing how much she missed her, even buying Luo Zhi's favorite foods and imagining they were eating together.
She sensed something was wrong with Luo Zhi and urged her not to keep things to herself, regretting that she had made Luo Zhi too careful. Luo Zhi reassured her mother that she was fine and would return home after her IELTS exam, but she cried after the call. Meanwhile, Sheng Huainan and Ge Bi were in a bind over a rejected interview script for a talk show featuring Mr. Mo Shan.
Liu Jing informed them that Luo Zhi had previously submitted a USB drive with interview suggestions, but Ye Zhan Yan had taken it. Ge Bi tried to call Luo Zhi, but couldn't reach her, so he called Jiang Baili. Jiang Baili then revealed that Luo Zhi was hospitalized and had nearly developed pneumonia. Hearing this, Sheng Huainan immediately rushed out of the Student Union building, his concern evident. At the hospital, Zhang Mingrui arrived with popping candy.
He playfully fed it to Luo Zhi, recalling how his mother used to give it to him to ease stomachaches. His efforts cheered Luo Zhi up. Later that afternoon, as Jiang Baili and Zhang Mingrui were escorting Luo Zhi out of the hospital, Sheng Huainan and Ge Bi arrived at the entrance. Luo Zhi tried to avoid Sheng Huainan, claiming their car was too crowded.
Zhang Mingrui, making an excuse about needing to buy things for Xu Ri Qing, quickly left. When Luo Zhi still insisted on taking a taxi, Sheng Huainan, without a word, scooped her up and carried her into their car. Inside the car, Sheng Huainan, sitting in the passenger seat, adjusted the rearview mirror to keep an eye on Luo Zhi.
He also instructed Ge Bi not to turn on the air conditioning because Luo Zhi was a patient and played music, but Luo Zhi found it too noisy, so he turned it off. Ge Bi then broached the topic of the rejected Mo Shan interview script, urgently asking Luo Zhi for help. He falsely claimed they had already incorporated her previous suggestions but still needed her expertise. Sheng Huainan supported this fabrication.
Jiang Baili, despite her lingering resentment towards Sheng Huainan for Luo Zhi's recent illness, urged Luo Zhi to help Ge Bi for her sake. Luo Zhi, unable to refuse Jiang Baili, agreed to assist. Upon returning to the Student Union, Luo Zhi reviewed the rejected script. She discovered that none of her valuable suggestions had been adopted.
She learned that Ye Zhan Yan had taken her USB drive and independently revised the script, filling it with superficial and overly private questions that led to Mr. Mo Shan's refusal. While Luo Zhi worked, Jiang Baili helped Ge Bi organize materials, leaving Sheng Huainan an opportunity to be alone with Luo Zhi. Sheng Huainan approached Luo Zhi, asking about her new short haircut. She coldly retorted, "None of your business."
He then offered her a glass of water, but she remained distant and unresponsive. Later, Luo Zhi and Jiang Baili returned to their dorm to find Zhang Mingrui waiting at the door. He delivered medicine, bread, and popping candy, reminding Luo Zhi to take her medication on time before he left. Jiang Baili, seeing Zhang Mingrui's attentive care, questioned Luo Zhi about his intentions, suggesting he might be interested in her, not Xu Ri Qing.
Jiang Baili even mused that Zhang Mingrui's personality might be a better fit for Luo Zhi than Sheng Huainan's, criticizing Sheng Huainan as arrogant and mysterious, and a demanding boyfriend who often disappears. Luo Zhi dismissed the idea, asserting that Zhang Mingrui liked Xu Ri Qing.
That evening, Li Mi also brought Luo Zhi a tonic, saying someone specifically requested it for her, and warned Jiang Baili that many students were already camping out for Mo Shan's symposium tickets, which would be issued the next day.
While Jiang Baili and Li Mi set up their tent for the ticket line, Ge Bi called Jiang Baili, desperate for her to find backup copies of the past two years' Student Union account documents, which he had lost, fearing disciplinary action from the teacher from the Youth League Committee. Jiang Baili rushed to the Student Union, where she witnessed Ge Bi being scolded.
She found that the electronic accounts were even deleted from her own computer, so she decided to help him. Noticing Jiang Baili's distress, Luo Zhi called Zhang Mingrui, who confirmed Ge Bi's predicament. In the Student Union office, Ge Bi struggled with the accounts, hampered by some junior students. Sheng Huainan intervened, sending the junior students away.
Ge Bi lamented that Jiang Baili used to handle all his accounts and he felt awkward asking her for help now that they'd broken up. Jiang Baili then arrived, offering to compile the two years of accounts herself overnight. Sheng Huainan suggested she might need help, and she revealed Luo Zhi, her "best assistant," was also coming. Luo Zhi clarified that she was helping for Jiang Baili's sake and her love for Mr. Mo Shan's work.
Despite Sheng Huainan's concern for Luo Zhi’s health, she insisted on working on the accounts with Jiang Baili in their tent at the ticket line. Later that night, as Luo Zhi and Jiang Baili worked on the accounts in their tent, Ge Bi and Sheng Huainan arrived uninvited. Luo Zhi tried to distance herself from Sheng Huainan in the cramped space.
Sheng Huainan noticed Luo Zhi had a mosquito bite and offered her mosquito repellent, which he had brought along with drinks. He initially offered her a coke, but seeing her cold expression, he quickly switched it to afternoon tea, knowing her preference. Ge Bi received a call from Chen Mohan, who wanted him to attend rehearsal. He politely declined, citing the urgent account work.
Sheng Huainan then orchestrated a plan to get Ge Bi and Jiang Baili out of the tent, suggesting they buy snacks for everyone, and insisting Ge Bi needed help carrying everything, thus pushing Jiang Baili to go with him. Alone with Luo Zhi, Sheng Huainan actively expressed concern for her health, asking if her fever had truly subsided and if she had taken her medicine.
Luo Zhi coldly stated they weren't in any special relationship and there was no need for such concern. Sheng Huainan, in a newfound domineering manner, declared that since she was helping him, he had an obligation to ensure her health. He placed a sleeping bag over her and told her to drink more hot water. Luo Zhi observed that their roles had subtly shifted, with Sheng Huainan now actively pursuing her, no longer content with her quiet understanding.
