Luo Zhi, when asked to define love from a lawyer's perspective, described it as a claim right that requires constant interruption of its statute of limitations to achieve eternity. Sheng Huainan, however, argued against this view, stating that interrupting the statute of limitations is a passive approach, and from a biologist's perspective, marriage is a more suitable metaphor for a claim right, while love should be an unpredictable instinct.

He teased Luo Zhi, remarking that her past comments about his messy hair had turned him into someone with an obsessive compulsion to comb his hair daily. One day, Luo Zhi received a message from an unfamiliar number, supposedly from Sheng Huainan, claiming his phone was dead and asking her to meet him at a coffee shop at 3 PM the next day for help with an alumni sharing meeting.

Knowing Sheng Huainan wouldn't make such an arrangement, Luo Zhi, a top student, cleverly replied, asking if they weren't scheduled to watch a movie at 4 PM, a movie date that didn't exist. The sender, Xu Riqing, fell into her trap, confirming the movie time and suggesting coffee first. Luo Zhi had already identified Xu Riqing as the sender by checking the number with Zhang Mingrui and agreed to the meeting.

At the coffee shop, Luo Zhi confirmed it was indeed Xu Riqing who had set up the meeting. Luo Zhi commented on the obvious flaws in Xu Riqing's deception, even suggesting she should have pretended to be Zhang Mingrui to be more believable. Xu Riqing then asked if Luo Zhi was Sheng Huainan's girlfriend, to which Luo Zhi replied no. Xu Riqing then asked if Sheng Huainan had ever mentioned her.

Luo Zhi admitted Sheng Huainan had never mentioned Xu Riqing, but Zhang Mingrui frequently spoke of her. Xu Riqing found this hard to believe, but Luo Zhi insisted she spoke the truth. Luo Zhi, while secretly keeping Zhang Mingrui on the phone, gently steered the conversation, empathizing with Xu Riqing's feelings. Xu Riqing cried, asking why Sheng Huainan didn't like her. After she composed herself, she gave Luo Zhi her real number.

Luo Zhi then subtly urged Xu Riqing to acknowledge Zhang Mingrui's unwavering devotion, describing him as a warm and selfless man who constantly sought to make her happy without expecting anything in return. Zhang Mingrui, listening in, later thanked Luo Zhi, expressing his continued feelings for Xu Riqing and acknowledging that some of Luo Zhi's words were meant for him. Luo Zhi warned him that this assistance was a one-time affair.

Xu Riqing later texted Luo Zhi, expressing admiration for her "backbone" in front of Sheng Huainan, a quality she wished she possessed to stand tall or even casually joke with him, despite knowing he didn't like her. Luo Zhi internally mused that her own "backbone" was merely a cover for an even greater sense of inferiority. Sheng Huainan then appeared and joined Luo Zhi, startling her.

He revealed his desire to visit Tiffany and Jack, the children Luo Zhi tutored, and offered to ride his bicycle with her to the school gate before taking a taxi there. Luo Zhi sat on the back of his bike, which brought back memories of high school when she would struggle to keep pace with him during runs, longing to be closer.

She recalled deleting a photo a friend took of her and Sheng Huainan running together, out of fear of gossip. At Tiffany and Jack's home, the children were thrilled to see Sheng Huainan. Luo Zhi took pictures of them together, including a selfie with herself. She took a phone call from her mother, assuring her that the money from her tutoring job was for her mother's travel, not to be worried about.

On the way back, Sheng Huainan playfully teased Luo Zhi, calling her a "pig teammate" during their games, to which Luo Zhi retorted, calling him "Piggy, Sheng Huainan." He promised to show her more sides of himself. He then gave her a choice: either meow like a cat or go with him. Luo Zhi challenged him to demonstrate, and after a brief standoff, Sheng Huainan let out a "meow."

Meanwhile, Ye Zhanyan was in a taxi with friends celebrating her birthday. Her friend pointed out Sheng Huainan, who was chasing Luo Zhi with a radiant smile. Ye Zhanyan sadly observed that she had never seen Sheng Huainan smile so genuinely and happily, lamenting that such joy and love seemed to elude her.

Later, on the rooftop, Luo Zhi looked at her secret message on the wall, imagining a day when she could show it to Sheng Huainan and confess her long-held crush. As she pondered how to contact him, her phone buzzed with an unexpected message from Sheng Huainan. He invited her to the opening of his uncle's new bar on Gulangyu Island.

When Luo Zhi asked who else would be there, Sheng Huainan playfully retorted, "Who else do you want to be there?" Jiang Baili, more excited than Luo Zhi herself, meticulously styled Luo Zhi, helping her with makeup and choosing a beautiful striped sweater and shorts for the date. Jiang Baili expressed a bittersweet "aunt-like melancholy," feeling as though she was sending off a daughter.

Luo Zhi, however, got lost on the way, near a place called "Love Around the Corner," the name of a dock. She called Sheng Huainan, who, after a moment of amusement, guided her. He instructed her to walk down from the dock, promising she would find him at the next corner. True to his word, he jumped out from behind the corner, startling Luo Zhi, creating their own "Love Around the Corner" moment.

He teased her about her lack of direction but assured her that with his "Huainan-brand navigation," she would never get lost. As they walked, Luo Zhi struggled to find a topic of conversation, anxious not to appear boring. Sheng Huainan then commented, "It's pretty." Luo Zhi, mistaking his compliment for the scenery, agreed. Sheng Huainan clarified, saying he was referring to her, revealing he had a similar sweater and regretting not wearing it so they could have matched. Luo Zhi, still not fully grasping his hint, simply asked "What?" when he paused, not realizing his desire for them to wear matching outfits on their first official date.
