Luo Yan returns to the dorm in the rain and develops a fever. Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao care for her, touched by their concern, while speculating about her relationship with Lu Ran. Lu Ran, also saddened by their breakup, cries in the rain reminiscing. Luo Yan tells Liang Shuang about the breakup, and Liang Shuang offers comfort. Later, while Luo Yan is working late, Lu Ran calls her, but she rejects the call.
He then gives Jiang Xiaoguo cold medicine and a game CD to pass to Luo Yan. Jiang Xiaoguo realizes something is wrong between them and learns they have broken up. When the roommates ask for the reason, Luo Yan cites personality incompatibility and doesn't reveal details about her mother's situation. Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao, unaware of the full truth, try to persuade her to reconcile, but Jiang Xiaoguo, who knows more, supports her decision.
Despite her sadness, Luo Yan resolves to turn her grief into motivation, work hard, and strive to become like Jiang Xiaoguo. At Joy Team Building, Luo Yan is busy preparing for the Weishi annual meeting. Ms. Chen provides her with an attendee list. Luo Yan discovers that Zhao Changming plans to attend with a family member and that her mother, Wei Yunjie (referred to as Luo Mama in summary 1), will also be there.
Concerned, Luo Yan rushes home to tell Wei Yunjie not to attend, claiming she fears Wei Yunjie might jeopardize her first time organizing such an event. Unbeknownst to Luo Yan, Wei Yunjie is already planning to completely distance herself from Zhao Changming. Luo Yan's supervisor later praises her and intends to give her responsibility for the Weishi and Junhao projects after she becomes a full-time employee.
Luo Yan then learns that Wei Yunjie is her supervisor's esteemed teacher and had arranged for Luo Yan's placement at Joy Team Building. Feeling betrayed and angry, Luo Yan confronts Duan Jiabao in the dorm, asking if Wei Yunjie told her to inform Luo Yan about the job. Duan Jiabao doesn't deny it, stating that Wei Yunjie meant well.
Luo Yan angrily expresses her strained relationship with her mother and her desire not to rely on her, leaving Duan Jiabao confused. As the two are about to argue, Jiang Xiaoguo intervenes, taking Luo Yan away and scolding her for losing her temper with Duan Jiabao. Luo Yan expresses feelings of weakness and asks Jiang Xiaoguo if she looks down on her for needing her mother's help to secure employment.
Zhao Youxiu's stepmother invites Duan Jiabao shopping, reminding her to take good care of Xiaojuan. Meanwhile, Zhao Youxiu eats with his father. His father, having discerned that Duan Jiabao and Zhao Youxiu's relationship is a pretense, and that Zhao Youxiu actually likes Liang Shuang, encourages Zhao Youxiu to pursue her directly, despite Zhao Youxiu's desire to establish a career first. Zhao Youxiu admits his feelings for Liang Shuang to his father.
As Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao see Zhao Youxiu's parents off, Zhao Father asks Liang Shuang to be more tolerant of Zhao Youxiu, which deeply touches her. Before leaving Shenzhen, Zhao Father also invites Liang Shuang to visit their home. Liang Shuang's studio is officially established, and the trio celebrates. Duan Jiabao gives Zhao Youxiu a roll of film and suggests they go photography the next day.
Liang Shuang attempts to create an opportunity for Duan Jiabao and Zhao Youxiu to spend time alone by claiming she has other commitments. However, Zhao Youxiu rejects this by suggesting they wait for Zhao Xiaojuan so all four can go, leading Duan Jiabao to give up her initial plan. Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao secure an online and offline cooperation deal with a client for the Fairy Home project and also obtain a carnival opportunity.
Duan Jiabao is surprised by Liang Shuang's sincere consideration for Zhao Xiaojuan, as Liang Shuang makes specific requests to the client to ensure Zhao Xiaojuan isn't overworked during filming. Later, while Liang Shuang is on a video call with Zhao Xiaojuan, Zhao Youxiu thoughtfully pours water for Liang Shuang, which makes Duan Jiabao jealous. Jiang Xiaoguo informs Zhou Xun she is returning to work and bids him farewell.
Zhou Xun reveals that BoxBoxBuy's new Halo technology has successfully overcome its most difficult challenge and, pending successful market testing, is considered a success. Zhou Xun plans to return to the company with Jiang Xiaoguo. As they prepare to leave the guesthouse, Jiang Xiaoguo spots Duan Zhenyu's car outside; he had slept there all night, having driven all the way to pursue her. Although touched by his gesture, Jiang Xiaoguo ultimately returns to Shenzhen with Zhou Xun.
At Puling Capital, Rebecca expresses admiration for Jiang Xiaoguo's ability to persuade Zhou Xun to return. During a company meeting, a colleague questions Jiang Xiaoguo about her leave, but she merely exchanges a knowing smile with Zhou Xun without revealing details. Zhou Xun then receives distressing news: a competitor, Yixian, has preemptively released its Halo technology, causing BoxBoxBuy's market share to plummet to ten percent.
Both Su Hang and Rebecca urge Zhou Xun to release their Halo technology immediately to salvage market share. However, Zhou Xun adamantly refuses, asserting that their Halo technology is not yet perfect and must be fully refined before release. Su Hang angrily leaves the meeting. With Puling Capital's funds only sufficient for ten days, Zhou Xun makes a desperate gamble, pledging all his personal assets.
Later that evening, Jiang Xiaoguo brings Zhou Xun to a basketball court, where he is touched to find Rebecca and Su Hang waiting for him. While they play, Rebecca recounts to Jiang Xiaoguo how Zhou Xun once bravely fought to defend Su Hang, using two tennis rackets, though both ended up getting beaten, which greatly surprises Jiang Xiaoguo. Su Hang then informs a deeply moved Zhou Xun that he has agreed to go home and ask his father, Mr. Su Sr. , for investment.
