Her roommates tease her, and Jiang Xiaoguo hints at more arduous tasks awaiting her. Zhou Xun's father teases his son about giving up his room, but Zhou Xun retorts that Jiang Xiaoguo is not just anyone, but his subordinate. The next morning, Zhou Xun prepares breakfast for Jiang Xiaoguo.
During the meal, Zhou Xun's father asks Jiang Xiaoguo if the company is facing troubles and shares embarrassing stories from Zhou Xun's childhood. He also explains that Zhou Xun's stern demeanor developed after his mother's death, and his love for sweets also stems from her. Jiang Xiaoguo then takes Zhou Xun's forgotten phone to him on the rooftop, where she helps him hang up sheets.
She asks if he has truly given up on BuyBox, expressing both disappointment, as the whole company is working towards his dream, and admiration for his achievements, from being a top student to establishing a career in Shenzhen. She encourages him not to give up. Later, Jiang Xiaoguo learns that rival company Yixian's business is booming, while BuyBox is struggling with a significantly lower market share.
Distraught, she rushes to Zhou Xun, finds him standing in the sea, and fearing he might jump, pulls him back. She suggests selling BuyBox. Zhou Xun calmly explains that price wars are never sustainable, and only technological progress drives societal advancement. He reveals that Yixian's price war aims to defeat BuyBox, but if BuyBox can survive this period, it will emerge victorious.
He returned to his hometown precisely to await BuyBox's technological upgrade, emphasizing that Puling holds his and Su Hang's complete dedication and he would never betray it. Jiang Xiaoguo gains a new understanding of Zhou Xun, realizing that despite his calm exterior, he has meticulously planned everything. She applies to return to Zhou Xun's project team, determined to contribute regardless of the project's success or failure, stating she would have no regrets.
Duan Zhenyu informs his sister, Duan Jiabao, about his upcoming training in Germany, expressing his worry for Jiang Xiaoguo. Duan Jiabao, surprised he's still concerned about Xiaoguo, tells him to give up, adding that even if Xiaoguo didn't like Zhou Xun, she wouldn't like him either. As he approaches the entrance, he sees Zhou Xun calling Jiang Xiaoguo out for a walk. He hides until they leave, then enters the homestay. Zhou Xun's father informs him there are no available rooms, as his son's colleague (Jiang Xiaoguo) is occupying his son's room, causing Duan Zhenyu to leave in a daze, feeling lost and disappointed.
Meanwhile, Lu Ran messages Luo Yan, claiming he has come clean to his parents about their relationship and needs some time, but he is determined to be with her. Luo Yan is touched by his declaration and feels a sense of sweetness. During a subsequent date, Lu Ran reassures Luo Yan that his parents are no longer pressuring him, and they reconcile, sharing a kiss. They visit the beach to throw a message-in-a-bottle into the sea.
Luo Yan asks Lu Ran to accompany her to visit her father (or sweep graves), and he agrees, comforting her when she expresses not remembering her father's mannerisms. On their way back to school, they unexpectedly encounter Lu Ran's mother. She becomes upset upon seeing them holding hands and questions Lu Ran about moving back into the dorm without telling her. Afterward, Zhao Youxiu asks Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao if either would pretend to be his girlfriend for dinner that night, explaining it is important for his future work. Both initially decline, citing other commitments. That evening, at dinner with his parents, neither Liang Shuang nor Duan Jiabao has arrived, so Zhao Youxiu lies to his father, claiming his girlfriend has temporary work or is with a client.
To his surprise, Duan Jiabao suddenly arrives with a gift, and Zhao Youxiu, playing along, quickly introduces her to his family as his girlfriend. Just as Duan Jiabao sits down, Liang Shuang also arrives with a similar gift.
Realizing that Duan Jiabao is already posing as Zhao Youxiu's girlfriend, Liang Shuang feels a moment of disappointment but quickly composes herself, states she is merely a friend there to greet Zhao Youxiu's parents, leaves her gift, and makes an excuse to depart. Zhao Youxiu is touched by her understanding and later expresses his gratitude to Liang Shuang.
Upon returning to their dorm, Duan Jiabao apologizes to Liang Shuang and confesses that she has fallen for Zhao Youxiu, but feels she might not be good enough for him.
