Director Ding revealed that he and Zhou Xun had started their relationship in college, but it was ultimately defeated by reality (or due to long-distance after graduation), leading to a peaceful breakup.
He denied that Zhou Xun was the reason he came to Puling. Jiang Xiaoguo felt somewhat better after these answers, expressing envy for Director Ding. Director Ding, in turn, stated that he envied Jiang Xiaoguo, though he did not elaborate on why. Later, Director Ding invited Jiang Xiaoguo to attend a private party with him the following day.
