Duan Zhenyu informs Duan Jiabao that he intends to pursue Jiang Xiaoguo again. Duan Jiabao, in turn, reveals that Jiang Xiaoguo's affections lie with Zhou Xun, not Mojie, which surprises Duan Zhenyu, who disapproves of Jiang Xiaoguo's taste. Later, while Duan Jiabao is having a meal with Xiong Zhi, Liang Shuang calls her to share a new shooting idea, making Duan Jiabao happy.
Upon hearing this, Xiong Zhi, who had hoped to invite Duan Jiabao out and had already purchased tickets, retracts his invitation in disappointment. The following day, Liang Shuang, Duan Jiabao, and Zhao Youxiu proceed to Happy Valley for an advertisement photoshoot. After completing her part, Liang Shuang tells Zhao Youxiu her plan: she has purchased tickets for Zhao Xiaojuan and his mother and hired a separate photographer in Beijing to take similar photos of Xiaojuan, based on Liang Shuang's composition.
Zhao Youxiu would then composite the two sets of photos together. Zhao Youxiu is enraged, refusing the task and explicitly stating that he does not do photo editing. Liang Shuang is unaware of this, as Duan Jiabao had been secretly handling all the editing work, only allowing Zhao Youxiu to do the shooting. An argument ensues, with Zhao Youxiu accusing Liang Shuang of lacking artistic understanding and respect, while Liang Shuang blames him for not bringing Zhao Xiaojuan back.
Angrily, Zhao Youxiu gathers his belongings and departs. He feels deeply wronged, recalling that a week prior, he had won an award for his photography and had sacrificed attending the Guangzhou award ceremony at Liang Shuang's request to rush back to Shenzhen for work, only to be treated in such a manner. He subsequently ignores Liang Shuang's phone calls.
Meanwhile, Duan Zhenyu picks up Jiang Xiaoguo from work, offering to take her to eat and then to her dorm, but she declines. He then drives her to a basketball court, where they encounter Zhou Xun and Su Hang. Duan Zhenyu, showing hostility, challenges Zhou Xun to a one-on-one game. They are evenly matched, with Duan Zhenyu ultimately winning 11-9. Despite Duan Zhenyu's victory, Jiang Xiaoguo's focus remains entirely on Zhou Xun.
After the game, Zhou Xun informs Jiang Xiaoguo that the Director Ding project is nearly complete and invites her to return to his team, which makes Jiang Xiaoguo extremely happy. Seeing her joyful reaction, Duan Zhenyu feels profound sadness and defeat, realizing he has lost, as Jiang Xiaoguo's attention is solely on Zhou Xun.
Earlier, Su Hang had praised Jiang Xiaoguo for resembling her mentor Zhou Xun, though Zhou Xun denied she was his apprentice, prompting Rebecca to suggest taking Jiang Xiaoguo on as her own apprentice. Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao are unable to contact Zhao Youxiu. Duan Jiabao calls Mr. He, the client, to apologize for the delay in delivering the film.
Mr. He, though annoyed, proposes a solution: if Liang Shuang and Zhao Xiaojuan participate for free in a parent-child blogger event the following week, he will waive any contractual penalties; otherwise, Liang Shuang would be liable for compensation and an apology. Liang Shuang reluctantly agrees. Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao decide to confront Zhao Youxiu at his home to persuade him to bring Zhao Xiaojuan back to Shenzhen.
They arrive at his house, only to find he is away, having gone to Guangzhou for an event. Liang Shuang manages to open the door, and they enter, admiring the humanitarian and landscape photography displayed on his walls. While impressed, Liang Shuang remarks that there is a significant distinction between humanitarian photography and commercial shoots, and that one must adhere to the rules of commercial photography when undertaking such work.
Zhao Youxiu's award-winning photography, featuring Liang Shuang and Zhao Xiaojuan, is later exhibited, and he returns to Beijing on the final day of the exhibition, overjoyed by the recognition, and too excited to answer Duan Jiabao's calls. Lu Ran visits an animal shelter, hoping to meet Luo Yan, and finds her there feeding Dingchun. Luo Yan, feeling guilty, embraces him, and Lu Ran does not press her for details. They then plan to go see a movie.
While Lu Ran is returning home, Zhao Cheng confronts Luo Yan on the street, asking if she knows Zhao Changming. Luo Yan denies it. Zhao Cheng, having seen Luo Yan receive flowers from Zhao Changming at the hospital, mistakenly believed she was a mistress. Infuriated by her denial, he shoves her, causing her to hit a wall and injure her head. Lu Ran arrives just then, protecting Luo Yan.
Zhao Cheng is surprised to learn that Lu Ran is Luo Yan's boyfriend and further accuses Luo Yan of receiving flowers and bird's nest from his father and being involved with Zhao Changming. Luo Yan struggles to explain, but Jiang Xiaoguo appears and intervenes, clarifying that the flowers and bird's nest were for her, and Zhao Changming visited her in the hospital because she was sick, due to a collaboration between their companies.
Though Zhao Cheng remains somewhat skeptical, Jiang Xiaoguo's rebuttal compels him to apologize to Luo Yan. After Lu Ran leaves, Luo Yan apologizes to Jiang Xiaoguo, feeling both grateful and guilty, and Jiang Xiaoguo reassures her. Later, Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao return to the dorm to find Jiang Xiaoguo treating Luo Yan's head wound, which Jiang Xiaoguo simply explains was an accidental bump.
Jiang Xiaoguo then distracts them by sharing the news of her transfer back to Zhou Xun's team, though Liang Shuang expresses doubt that Zhou Xun is truly interested in Jiang Xiaoguo. News then breaks that Zhao Changming's affair has been exposed, causing a surge in valuation for Weishi's competitor, Xiangke, into which Puling Capital had successfully invested. Jiang Xiaoguo is shocked and worried about Luo Yan.
Back in the dorm, Jiang Xiaoguo sees Luo Yan has also learned the news and is comforting her when Lu Ran calls. He informs Luo Yan that he passed his written exam and wants to celebrate. Luo Yan is about to agree, but Jiang Xiaoguo, pretending to be Luo Yan's colleague, interjects, stating Luo Yan needs to stay and work overtime.
Zhao Changming's wife, aware of the affair, attempts to manage their son Zhao Cheng's emotions by urging him to trust his father. Zhao Changming himself lies to his family, claiming the exposure is a frame-up by jealous rivals envious of Weishi's potential IPO. Zhao Cheng believes him and happily goes to study. Once Zhao Cheng leaves, his mother's demeanor changes; she becomes cold towards Zhao Changming and warns him not to let his outside affairs disturb their family. Luo Yan, upon learning of Zhao Changming's exposed affair, becomes flustered, particularly when Lu Ran calls her at that moment, and hastily prepares to find her mother.
