Before Luo Yan and Lu Ran's hot spring trip, Liang Shuang helped Luo Yan prepare by waxing her legs, Jiang Xiaoguo gave her condoms, and Duan Jiabao provided her "man-slayer" shampoo, as the four girls chatted happily. Xiong Zhi had previously suggested Lu Ran book a twin room for his hot spring trip, advising that two beds in one room would be both intimate and polite. Meanwhile, Xiong Zhi went on a date with Duan Jiabao.
However, Duan Jiabao continuously discussed work, which made Xiong Zhi feel neglected. Although Duan Jiabao quickly stopped talking about work when she noticed his mood, Xiong Zhi had lost interest in the date, and Duan Jiabao didn't know how to appease him. Separately, Zhao Youxiu ate at Xiong Zhi's restaurant, where Xiong Zhi learned that Duan Jiabao had gone to see Zhao Youxiu after returning to school, rather than contacting him, which made Xiong Zhi feel wronged.
When Xiong Zhi later delivered soup to Duan Jiabao, he complained that she only thought about work and not about him, and he left despite her attempts to stop him. Later, while Luo Yan was preparing in the room as Lu Ran stepped out to get fruit, she received a text message from Zhao Changming informing her that her mother, Wei Yunjie, had been in a car accident. Luo Yan immediately rushed to the hospital, disregarding her previous quarrel with her mother. She didn't have time to explain to Lu Ran, who had returned and assumed he had upset her, and she told him not to follow her.
Despite Lu Ran making several phone calls to Luo Yan, she eventually answered but refused to tell him the real reason for her departure, using "overtime" as an excuse to avoid meeting him. Concurrently, Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao went to Zhao Youxiu's house to try clothes on Xiaojuan. Zhao Youxiu claimed Xiaojuan was at drawing class, sending them away. However, Liang Shuang grew suspicious and checked Xiaojuan's flight number, discovering that Xiaojuan had not returned to Shenzhen.
Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao angrily returned to confront Zhao Youxiu. Seeing he could no longer hide the truth, Zhao Youxiu admitted that Xiaojuan's stepmother (or mother, as per plot 2) would not allow Xiaojuan to return with him and planned to take Xiaojuan on a trip. Zhao Youxiu then called the stepmother/mother in front of them, confirming that despite his pleas, she refused to let Xiaojuan go to Shenzhen.
Liang Shuang and Duan Jiabao tried many other methods to convince Zhao Youxiu to bring Xiaojuan to Shenzhen, but Xiaojuan's mother remained firm in her refusal, causing Liang Shuang to develop acne from frustration. At Puling Capital, Director Ding successfully secured a Silicon Valley chip technology license for Weishi, leading to a partnership between Puling Capital and Weishi.
Weishi's Mr. Zhao, identified as Zhao Changming, came to Puling Capital to meet with Director Ding and discuss specific project details, with Jiang Xiaoguo also attending the meeting. Jiang Xiaoguo was surprised to discover that Zhao Changming was Weishi's boss but did not outwardly show her astonishment. After the meeting, Jiang Xiaoguo asked Director Ding how he managed to secure the authorization for the chip technology without being in the US.
Director Ding briefly explained that he had previous dealings with the inventor and then asked Jiang Xiaoguo to run an errand for him: to retrieve a painting from a gallery and have it sent to Zhao Changming's wife. Jiang Xiaoguo initially thought Zhao Changming's wife referred to Luo Yan's mother, but she then learned that Zhao Changming had been married for over a decade. This revelation left her surprised and unsure how to handle her relationship with Luo Yan.
Luo Yan rushed to the hospital, where she immediately encountered Zhao Changming. She quickly asked him about her mother, Wei Yunjie. Zhao Changming briefly explained the situation, and offered flowers and bird's nest soup for Wei Yunjie, which Luo Yan angrily refused to accept. During their conversation, Zhao Cheng, who had been tracking Zhao Changming, secretly filmed their interaction from a corner.
Luo Yan then went into the ward and was heartbroken to see her mother lying on the bed, covered in injuries. Overcome with emotion, Luo Yan put aside their previous quarrel and sincerely apologized to her mother. Her mother was overjoyed to see Luo Yan and could not fault her; she also revealed that she and Zhao Changming had separated and would only have work-related contact in the future.

She was shocked, realizing that Zhao Changming was Weishi's boss, and worried if Jiang Xiaoguo had already discovered the truth about his affair. The following morning, Jiang Xiaoguo conspicuously avoided Luo Yan and was visibly distracted at work, concerned that Zhao Changming's infidelity could negatively impact Puling Capital's investment. After some hesitation, Jiang Xiaoguo informed Zhou Xun and the other team members about Zhao Changming's affair. Director Ding had initially proposed an additional investment in Weishi.
After Mr. He investigated and confirmed Zhao Changming's infidelity, Zhou Xun and the team discussed solutions and ultimately decided to abandon the investment in Weishi, opting instead to invest in its competitor, Xiangke. Puling Capital gave Jiang Xiaoguo two movie tickets. She didn't want to go alone and initially considered giving them to Duan Jiabao, but Duan Jiabao was busy trying to appease Xiong Zhi and had no time.
