Duan Jiabao secured a Caslan event for Liang Shuang and created a detailed personal promotional slideshow for her. Liang Shuang was delighted and wanted to share it with her grandmother and friends. The next day, when Duan Jiabao contacted the Caslan event organizer to confirm details, she learned that the event had been canceled because another luxury beauty brand had reserved the Yingfu Center venue, forcing Caslan to postpone.
Duan Jiabao found the name "Yingfu Center" familiar, so she researched it online and discovered its owner was her acquaintance, Uncle Wang. She contacted him directly and successfully resolved the venue issue for the Caslan event. Meanwhile, Jiang Xiaoguo was tirelessly searching for investment projects but had yet to find a suitable one. Fearing dismissal, she complained to Wendy. Coincidentally, someone arrived at the company to pitch a project to Su Hang.
As Su Hang was unavailable, Jiang Xiaoguo spoke with the person. The software, called Hongcha, could identify differences between two images, but Jiang Xiaoguo only gathered this basic information. Zhou Xun, after hearing her report, instructed her to investigate further; otherwise, the project would be rejected. Feeling somewhat helpless, Jiang Xiaoguo visited Hongcha Studio the following day, intending to inform Director Ding in person that Puling Capital would not invest.
However, Director Ding misunderstood, believing Jiang Xiaoguo was there for an on-site inspection. Jiang Xiaoguo felt awkward, seeing the collective hope of Director Ding and his employees riding on this potential investment, and couldn't bring herself to deliver the rejection. Zhou Xun had previously criticized Jiang Xiaoguo’s attitude and ability when she initially presented the project. Duan Jiabao met Xiong Zhi at "Same Place."
Xiong Zhi had yet to tell his father that he quit his job at Tencent to become a chef, and Duan Jiabao was still hiding her role as Liang Shuang's agent from her roommates. Both sighed deeply, burdened by their secrets. Duan Jiabao was particularly troubled by keeping the secret about Liang Shuang.
Separately, Luo Yan was distracted by her mother's issues, causing her to fall behind in her studies and argue with Lu Ran when he pressed her about it. Duan Zhenyu was asked by his captain to find out what Jiang Xiaoguo liked, but during their conversation about dreams and aspirations, they ended up comforting each other, and Duan Zhenyu forgot to ask his original question when Jiang Xiaoguo left.
Duan Jiabao accompanied Liang Shuang to the Caslan event, where they encountered Ouyang Yushuang. Ouyang Yushuang harbored resentment toward Duan Jiabao because Duan Jiabao had previously caused her an allergic reaction. Liang Shuang stepped in to defend Duan Jiabao. Unable to out-argue Liang Shuang, Ouyang Yushuang turned and left. As Duan Jiabao and Liang Shuang prepared for the event, Jiang Xiaoguo called. Duan Jiabao suddenly remembered her dinner plans with Jiang Xiaoguo and Luo Yan at the Yingfu Center.
Fearing that her relationship with Liang Shuang would be exposed, Duan Jiabao quickly settled Jiang Xiaoguo and Luo Yan in a restaurant. The Caslan event was about to begin, and Liang Shuang was waiting for Duan Jiabao to help her change. Duan Jiabao faked a stomach ache in front of Jiang Xiaoguo to rush back to assist Liang Shuang. After Liang Shuang took the stage, Duan Jiabao hurried back to the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Ouyang Yushuang believed Liang Shuang had used "backdoor connections" due to her relationship with the mall owner and began to subtly mock her. Indignant, Liang Shuang intentionally undermined Ouyang Yushuang during the event. After leaving the stage, Ouyang Yushuang confronted Liang Shuang, leading to an argument. Duan Jiabao received a call from staff and immediately rushed back to the event. She found Ouyang Yushuang pushing Liang Shuang.
Duan Jiabao intervened to protect Liang Shuang, and seeing her friend being bullied, Liang Shuang also joined the altercation. Several people began fighting, while onlookers surrounded them, filming and taking photos. Realizing the situation was escalating, Duan Jiabao and Liang Shuang quickly slipped away. Emerging disheveled, they looked at each other and laughed, fixing each other's hair.
Liang Shuang, deeply touched by Duan Jiabao's help in the fight, found her quite beautiful and realized their relationship had grown, now considering Duan Jiabao a true friend. Jiang Xiaoguo questioned Duan Jiabao about her recent activities with Liang Shuang, having heard Liang Shuang's voice on the phone. To avoid suspicion and conceal her secret, Duan Jiabao deliberately spoke ill of Liang Shuang, claiming no relationship with her and even expressing anger about "Luo Yan's matter" (or "the matter regarding Luo Yan"). Unbeknownst to Duan Jiabao, Liang Shuang was standing behind the bus stop sign and overheard the entire conversation.
Feeling betrayed by her friend, Liang Shuang stepped out and confronted Duan Jiabao, accusing her of being a hypocrite. Duan Jiabao was speechless. Jiang Xiaoguo and Luo Yan learned the truth and were very angry with Duan Jiabao. What started as a temporary lie to evade an unspoken truth quickly escalated into a significant conflict. Duan Jiabao felt incredibly wronged, having offended both sides.
She later had a dream where Jiang Xiaoguo and Luo Yan refused to forgive her, and she woke up startled. Luo Yan also received a call from Uncle Wei on her phone at the bus stop, which she deliberately ignored, and she offered no explanation when Jiang Xiaoguo asked. Jiang Xiaoguo found both Duan Jiabao and Luo Yan's behavior strange that day.
