The Wonderful World Episode 19 Recap
> The Wonderful World Recap
After Xu Tian left, Shi Diandian called Wen Xiaoyao to explain that she helped send Zhou Tong to the hospital the day he had the accident. Because Zhou Tong and Xu Tian looked so alike, she didn't want anything to happen to Zhou Tong. Wen Xiaoyao understood Shi Diandian's intentions, feeling the same way herself. After hanging up, Wen Xiaoyao noticed Zhou Tong's ring at home and put it in her bag, planning to return it to him later.
Qiao Mi and Zhao Gang's flight was delayed. Zhao Gang expressed his frustration. Qiao Mi comforted him, advising him not to have high hopes about Wen Xiaoyao returning to Beijing. She explained that her own purpose for the trip was different; she felt responsible for Zhou Tong's death and wanted Wen Xiaoyao to blame her to alleviate her guilt.
Additionally, with Zhou Tong gone, Wen Xiaoyao would no longer dance Bai Suzhen, and Qiao Mi preferred performing Yang Yun's choreography of "Jinse." Wen Xiaoyao was teaching her class as usual. After boarding her flight, Qiao Mi called Wen Xiaoyao, who stated she wanted to spend more time with Xu Tian. Qiao Mi found this surprising and resolved to see what was so special about Xu Tian upon arriving in Hangzhou.
While waiting to process her Z visa, Shi Diandian was video chatting with Xu Tian when Wen Xiaoyao called. Wen Xiaoyao inquired about Xu Tian's address, explaining she needed to return a ring he had left behind while assembling furniture the previous night. Shi Diandian provided the address for the ring counter, suggesting she return it there. Shi Diandian then called Xu Tian, who hadn't realized he had lost his wedding ring.
He was somewhat embarrassed by the oversight, but Shi Diandian was understanding, saying it was fine as long as she was in his heart. After ending the call, she decided to return to Hangzhou immediately, abandoning her visa application process. Meanwhile, Qiao Guanghui accompanied Song Guanwang to a crosstalk performance. Song Guanwang had begun to recover from the loss of her son and reflected on moments that seemed premonitory.
She recalled that the morning of the accident, Zhou Tong had told her to find a companion and suggested Qiao Guanghui would be a good choice, as if entrusting his life to him. Qiao Guanghui was intrigued and proposed that Song Guanwang consider Zhou Tong's words, but Song Guanwang dismissed the idea, asserting their relationship was purely platonic, like buddies. Losing interest in the show, Qiao Guanghui waited in the car.
When Song Guanwang joined him later, he told her that Zhao Gang was going to Hangzhou to persuade Wen Xiaoyao to return to Beijing, and mentioned Qiao Mi had told him Wen Xiaoyao met someone in Hangzhou named Xu Tian who looked exactly like Zhou Tong. Song Guanwang revealed she had met Xu Tian herself on the day of Zhou Tong's car accident, as he had visited their home. Xu Tian went to the shopping mall to retrieve the ring.
Wen Xiaoyao waited outside, and upon seeing him, bought a balloon to catch his attention. They walked together, chatting about everyday things. Wen Xiaoyao looked at Xu Tian's profile, feeling as if Zhou Tong had returned. She shared some of Zhou Tong's past words with Xu Tian, cherishing the moment. Having returned the ring, Wen Xiaoyao asked Xu Tian to take her to the place where her mother used to perform.
They traveled by subway, and Wen Xiaoyao was reminded of the first time she rode the subway with Zhou Tong, when he was blindfolded and she couldn't help but embrace him. Xu Tian knew nothing of this experience. Wen Xiaoyao chose not to tell him but observed Xu Tian's familiar face reflected in the subway window. Arriving near the theater, Xu Tian explained that the old venue was now an abandoned cultural center, frequently locked.
Xu Tian squeezed through a gap in the door to check inside, then called Wen Xiaoyao to join him. Venturing through the dressing room, Wen Xiaoyao found the side room and stepped onto the stage, instinctively striking a Bai Suzhen pose. Xu Tian located a switch and turned on the lights, explaining that he had taken a photo with Ms. Jia Sulan in the side room as a child.
He speculated that Ms. Jia Sulan might have been pregnant with Wen Xiaoyao at the time she fainted on stage during the "Water Flooding Jinshan" scene. Xu Tian asked Wen Xiaoyao if she still performed "Legend of the White Snake" and if Zhou Tong had ever seen her perform. Wen Xiaoyao replied that he had not. Xu Tian then moved offstage. Wen Xiaoyao recalled Zhou Tong taking pictures of her at the ballet theater and began to sob softly.
She then returned to the dressing room, looked at Jia Sulan's old mirror, and spoke her thoughts aloud. Subsequently, during a rehearsal at the ballet company, Yang Yun sustained an injury. Consequently, the company leadership decided that Wen Xiaoyao would take over the lead role of Bai Suzhen. Initially hesitant, Wen Xiaoyao eventually accepted the challenge. This change necessitated immediate preparations, including altering promotional materials and arranging interviews for Wen Xiaoyao.
In interviews, Wen Xiaoyao discussed portraying Bai Suzhen and mentioned her background, including her mother, Jia Sulan, having been a Yue Opera performer of the same role. Around this time, Zhou Tong, seemingly informed (possibly by Qiao Mi mentioning a video or discussion), felt betrayed and foolish. He confronted Wen Xiaoyao, stating that he believed she had only used him for practice, as she had claimed when they first met.
He declared their relationship was "over," suggesting it was never truly established, and that he would go to Malaysia. Distraught by his reaction, Wen Xiaoyao called Qiao Mi to clarify what she had told Zhou Tong, reiterating her love for him and asking for Qiao Mi's assistance.
