Shi Diandian brought Zhou Tong to the residential complex where Wen Xiaoyao lived, insistent that he meet her. Unsure who Wen Xiaoyao was, Zhou Tong waited downstairs on a bench. After waiting for some time without seeing anyone, Shi Diandian went into the complex to look for Wen Xiaoyao. She went upstairs and found no one home at the apartment number she expected.
Zhou Tong then took the opportunity to ask Shi Diandian why he needed to meet a stranger and where she had gone earlier. Shi Diandian explained that on an overpass that day, she had unexpectedly seen someone who looked exactly like Xu Tian.
She had followed him, taken photos, and then followed the person he was with, learning her name was Wen Xiaoyao and that she was a dancer playing the lead role of Bai Suzhen in 'Legend of the White Snake'. Shi Diandian admitted it seemed incredible, but it was true. Around this time, Wen Xiaoyao and Zhou Tong had a heated conversation that ended with Zhou Tong declaring their relationship was over.
He expressed that their connection felt like a roller coaster and was too intense for him. He felt foolish because Wen Xiaoyao had told him from the start that she was just using him for practice, something he hadn't believed until receiving information from Qiaomi. He stated his schedule was finished, allowing Wen Xiaoyao to focus on her performance the next day, and that he would be flying to Malaysia.
He ended the conversation by wishing her well, suggesting no goodbye was cleaner. Shortly after, Wen Xiaoyao received urgent news via a phone call from Qiaomi, telling her to return to the troupe immediately because dancer Yang Yun had suffered an injury. At the dance troupe, Wen Xiaoyao was informed that she would be stepping in to play the lead role of Bai Suzhen.
During a rehearsal for the trio and duet performances, Wen Xiaoyao initially stated she couldn't dance, struggling under the pressure and sudden change. Another dancer expressed fear of dropping her again, indicating a previous incident. The director pressed Wen Xiaoyao to confirm she could handle the lead role, and she ultimately affirmed that she could. Troupe management discussed the unexpected change, acknowledging Yang Yun's injury was not serious but would prevent her from performing in this round.
They made plans to update the posters and prepare for arriving reporters, announcing the change on the company website. After the tense rehearsal and meeting, Qiaomi spoke with Wen Xiaoyao, congratulating her on getting the lead role and noting that she would become a principal dancer after just three performances, calling it great news. However, Qiaomi observed that Wen Xiaoyao didn't seem happy and asked if Zhou Tong was ignoring her.
Wen Xiaoyao confirmed he was but insisted she would not break up with him and stated her love for him. She prioritized finding Zhou Tong before doing scheduled interviews or visiting the injured dancer, telling Qiaomi that nothing else mattered at that moment but Zhou Tong, and asking for Qiaomi's help. While still waiting at the complex, Zhou Tong spoke to Shi Diandian about his thoughts.
He explained that he had lived alone for over a decade, and Shi Diandian's sudden appearance and thorough care had brought him unprecedented warmth. He understood she was afraid of losing him but emphasized that he cherished their connection even more. He clarified that his only interest was in meeting the person who looked like Xu Tian, and everyone else was irrelevant to him. Hearing this, Shi Diandian felt relieved.
She still wanted to wait a little longer, and Zhou Tong agreed, allowing her to rest her head on his lap while they waited. After some time, seeing that the light in Wen Xiaoyao's apartment had been turned off, Shi Diandian concluded they had missed her, and they returned to the hotel together. Later, Shi Diandian was with Xu Tian. They engaged in philosophical conversations about life's unpredictability and impermanence, and how wanting something never possessed makes every day uncertain.
Referencing the story of Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian, Shi Diandian commented on the pace of their relationship. She expressed how seeing him made her happy and that no two people were the same, finding deep meaning in impermanence. They went towards the hotel, with Shi Diandian expressing concern if she couldn't find him and insisting he stay close to her, not wandering off in Beijing where he knew no one. Shi Diandian attended events at the theater.
While at the theater, she met Wen Xiaoyao during interviews. Shi Diandian asked Wen Xiaoyao personal questions, including her address (Park Avenue, Building 2, Apartment 201), her role as Bai Suzhen, and her background from Hangzhou, mentioning her mother had played Bai Suzhen in Yue Opera. Shi Diandian then revealed her identity and introduced Wen Xiaoyao to various reporters. Qiao Guanghui called Wen Xiaoyao, who updated him on Yang Yun's injury and her taking over the lead role.
Qiao Guanghui asked about Qiaomi and invited Wen Xiaoyao over for dinner with Qiaomi. While Shi Diandian was at the theater, Xu Tian waited for her in the hotel lobby. Shi Diandian called him and directed him to go upstairs to meet her mother, Fang Fang, who would help him check in. Xu Tian went up, met Fang Fang, and she assisted him with the check-in process before inviting him to sit down.
Preparing for his flight to Malaysia the next day, Zhou Tong packed his luggage. He spoke with his mother, Song Guanwang, after preparing breakfast for her. He advised her to find companionship, suggesting Qiao Guanghui as a good option, and shared that her happiness was important to him, noting his own maturity. Song Guanwang acknowledged his newfound maturity but expressed that she wanted him to find his own happiness.
During their conversation, he also looked over her medical report, noting her low blood pressure and slightly high cholesterol, and mentioned he would monitor her diet. Zhou Tong later found his phone and saw a message from Wen Xiaoyao inviting him to watch her performance, to which he sent a polite reply. On the morning of the show, Qiao Guanghui and Zhao Gang picked up Wen Xiaoyao to take her to the theater.
Wen Xiaoyao noticed Qiaomi wasn't with them and repeatedly asked where she was. Qiao Guanghui informed her that Qiaomi had gone to find Zhou Tong. Qiaomi went to Zhou Tong's place, planning to apologize. She called him downstairs. When he appeared, she found it difficult to humble herself and wanted him to make the first move. Zhou Tong, unaware of the specific reason for her visit, exchanged a few terse words with her, and they parted unhappily.
A moment later, Zhou Tong thought about trying to talk to Qiaomi again, but she had already left for her rehearsal. At the rehearsal, Qiaomi arrived late and was reprimanded by Zhao Gang before joining the practice. Meanwhile, Fang Fang made plans to have dinner with Xu Tian and Shi Diandian.
Shi Diandian decided that she and Xu Tian should attend the performance and aimed to meet Zhou Tong there, stating she wanted to watch 'Legend of the White Snake' and ensure they had no regrets about their trip to Beijing. Fang Fang respected her decision, and Xu Tian agreed to the plan.
