Xiao Qing, unable to conceal her feelings, confided in Suzhen that she had fallen deeply for Zhang Yutang. She praised his kindness and righteousness, expressing her wish to share a life with him, just like Suzhen and Xu Xian. Suzhen, however, was filled with worry rather than joy. She knew firsthand the heartache of a human-demon romance, having sacrificed her demon core to secure her own half-life with Xu Xian.

With her millennial cultivation, Suzhen could withstand the loss of her demon core, though it still brought its own trials. Xiao Qing, possessing only five hundred years of cultivation, would revert to her original form without her demon core, or if she kept it, Zhang Yutang’s life would be consumed by the love poison. Unwilling to sacrifice Xiao Qing’s future or Zhang Yutang’s life, Suzhen shared her concerns with Xu Xian.

The couple, deeply troubled, decided to keep Xiao Qing and Zhang Yutang apart, hoping to slow the progression of the love poison and buy time to find a solution. One day, while Xu Xian was reading, he discovered that divine blood could suppress the love poison, which made Suzhen think of the four minor immortals who were close to Xiao Qing. She hurried back to the Bai Mansion to question them.

The four immortals, looking distressed, explained that they were only lower-ranking deities, and only the blood of a high-ranking god could counteract the love poison. They revealed that Xiao Qing was a demigoddess because she had the blood of the East Sea Dragon King flowing through her veins; she was his biological daughter, a fact unknown to her, and they had no contact for one hundred years.

The Dragon King was the only one with the divine blood powerful enough to help. Without hesitation, Suzhen rushed to the East Sea, determined to obtain ten drops of the Dragon King’s blood. Upon entering the Dragon King’s palace, Suzhen found the Dragon King in a rage, punishing a subordinate for losing the Water Order. Suzhen had, by chance, picked up the Water Order on her way to the palace.

Guided by the Water Order, she made her way through the palace to the Dragon King’s main hall, where she used the token to secure a private audience. However, the moment Suzhen mentioned "Dragon Princess Xiao Qing," the Dragon King's face darkened with fury. He roared, proclaiming that dragons have nine sons, not a daughter, and angrily ordered Suzhen to leave.

Desperate, Suzhen resorted to stealing a bottle of love forgetting water from the Dragon King’s table, knowing its potency, derived from the "tear of the sea," was unparalleled. Back at Baohe Clinic, Suzhen recounted the entire ordeal to Xu Xian. With no divine blood to be found, they reluctantly agreed to break up the young couple. Suzhen, choosing to be the villain, met with Zhang Yutang.

She told him that his obscure origins and poverty made him an unsuitable match for Xiao Qing, urging him to give up his affections. For the first time, the fearless Zhang Yutang felt profound self-abasement, believing he could not provide a stable home for his beloved. Unfortunately, Xiao Qing overheard their private conversation. She burst out, expressing her indignation and refusing to heed her sister's advice. Grabbing a bewildered Zhang Yutang, she pulled him away.

The two arrived at the dock, where an argument ensued. Even with Xiao Qing’s heartfelt words, Suzhen’s harsh assessment had deeply wounded Zhang Yutang, making him unable to look into Xiao Qing’s eyes. Unfazed by his self-doubt, Xiao Qing defiantly kissed him in public. Zhang Yutang, overwhelmed by surprise and fear, fled. Xiao Qing pursued him but once again encountered Fahai at the end of an alley.

Fahai admonished Xiao Qing to relinquish her human attachments and abandon her human-demon love. Xiao Qing ignored him, instead shouting for help and drawing a crowd. Zhang Yutang, who had been secretly watching, immediately jumped out to her rescue when he heard her cries. Fahai, struggling with an inner demon, was forced to retreat hastily. Xiao Qing and Zhang Yutang, once again reunited by his protective gesture, reconciled.

Fahai attempted to enter deep meditation but could not control his inner demon. His efforts to calm himself by manipulating his prayer beads were futile. Eventually, the inner demon surged into Fahai's body, forcing his spirit out. His prayer beads broke and scattered into a lake, symbolizing Fahai's helpless descent into a swirling quagmire. His disembodied spirit wandered until it possessed a cat.

Having made a private vow to each other, Xiao Qing decided to accompany Zhang Yutang in his quest to uncover his mysterious past. Zhang Yutang recalled that when his adoptive father took him in as a child, he wore luxurious clothes with intricate, ornate patterns. Xiao Qing, with her centuries of experience, immediately guessed that Zhang Yutang must have come from a wealthy, Buddhist-devoted family. She also speculated that he likely had a custom-made longevity lock.

The two split up to search various pawnshops for clues. Their efforts bore fruit when Xiao Qing found Zhang Yutang’s longevity lock at a pawnshop known as ‘Bai’, though it was currently in the possession of Lame San, a notorious gambler. To retrieve it, Xiao Qing decided to venture into a gambling den, waiting for Lame San to appear. Back at Baohe Clinic, after Zhang Yutang expressed concern about Xiao Qing not returning, Suzhen realized Xiao Qing was in danger.
